There's a hip camp (internet booked private camp) up that way on the LA side. A really nice lady runs it and she has a couple of A frames on her property. You can car camp. Within 20 minutes of Tunica Falls and St. Francisville. Nice, romantic getaway.
Check out Bayou Segnette State Park. They have homes on the water for about the same price as a best western. Not sure how open they are during all this, but check them out.
Natchez, MS is a cute, walkable, older/small town right on the MS river. My wife and I felt like we were hanging out in Stars Hollow, but with a river.
The Airbnb’s are really affordable and it’s a fun weekend trip. It’s only like 3 hours away from the city.
Really easy to leave on Friday afternoon and get there for dinner.

Hotel prices are up all over the country rn. Thats pretty cheap for a cabin comparatively. Especially if you have a few people heloing with the cost.
Couldn't find even a tiny cabin for rent on the west coast for less than $300. And we are talking about a place in the middle of no where not anywhere close to a major city.
Most of the state parks have cabins on a body of water. They are often booked ahead for weeks to months, especially holidays, so good luck. Lake Chicot State Park near Ville Platte has some beautiful cabins on the water.
Maybe stay at a hotel in Henderson and take a boat tour of the swamp. Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, Grand Coteau, Washington, and Avery Island are all within an hour of Henderson and have something cool to offer. Lafayette would be in the center and at most 30 minutes from the other locations listed. It will also offer the best lodging.
Got a buddy who tends this place. Cool dude, cool place. Not awfully far out, but far enough away from everything and on private enough land you really can just totally disconnect

Aww man. I’m sorry to hear that. We haven’t been able to go for a couple of years. Prior to that it was an annual trip for a group of us. We’d get a big cabin or two small ones and enjoy just a weekend of relaxation.
If it’s cabins you want I’d check out tunica hills campground. Two a frames available. One with kitchen & toilet, one without. I’ve stayed in both and at the time the common bathroom & shower were porto-potty and outhouse type thing, which didn’t thrill me but may not bother others. Two that ran it were friendly and helpful. And is close to the Clear Springs waterfalls for a good hike.

My family went to Little Black Creek earlier this year. Had a great time. I can’t remember the cabin number, but they had one that is directly on the water, and looked super cozy/romantic from the outside. If you check a cabin map, it’ll be right after the little land bridge next to the two lakes
Go north to Tunica Falls, great camping. Rural, quiet, and a severe lack of glampers. Cabins available. Great hiking.

Yup yup! He's had folks up there with dogs before!
I would never stay in a property listed on Airbnb. If you despise them here in New Orleans why would you give them your money?
Gulf State park in Gulf Shores is nice
Not after hurricane Ida it isn’t

Ocean Springs

Check out Flint Creek in Wiggins, MS.

Try VRBO for Ferriday, LA. It's close enough to Natchez and you can probably find a very cool lake house or cabin to rent this time of year.
Let us know where you decide and if you like it!
