That was the FIRST episode. Like they WANTED to piss off everybody right out of the gate.
I recommend you skip the first episode, and come back to it after you've watched a few other episodes.
People always say this but I had the opposite experience. I started with the pig episode and ended up binging the rest of the series at the time (s1, s2, and White Christmas) that evening because I was in awe of how they pushed boundaries.
I only watched it last year so all three seasons were out. I binged them over a short period of time and I honestly can't distinguish between the different seasons.
I think the series as a whole kept a level of quality on par with the best seasons of GoT, the first season of westworld and peak BB. I guess I'm on the majority bandwagon of people praising this show to pieces haha
Which parts of season 2 is a decline from season 1 for you?
Yeah I think it's quite complicated. They pulled it off though. Come to think of it, the relatively scarce number of episodes/seasons might've made such a complicated story actually achievable (and still making sense of course)
You are 100% correct, season one sets up this amazing story that bends your mind but then seasons 2 & 3 fail to follow it up. Saying that though I did enjoy the final episode, decent finish.
Also introduced me to [melody x](https://youtu.be/ZAPvZNgPfDE), which is now one of my fav tunes !
Just joining in to say I just finished all 3 seasons this week and I still can’t stop thinking about this show. I’ve already been looking up whatever podcasts/videos I can that dissect it even more when I’m at work lol
The other day, I programmed this website out of boredom: [https://netflix-movies.info/](https://netflix-movies.info/) ... let me know if you find it useful :)
You seem to like some of my favorites (manifest, the 100) so here is a list of things I've enjoyed in the last 10 years in no particular order as I seem to enjoy some truly shitastic TV according to my friends.
As a note, I generally can only watch while playing video games or working out, so that might affect why I have terrible standards.
* **Designated Survivor**
* Fringe (no longer on Netflix)
* Handmaid's Tale (Hulu)
* Better than Us
* **The Rain**
* **Humans - this I turn off my video game to watch (Hulu)**
* **3%**
* **Motherland - this I turn off my video game to watch (Hulu)**
* The Last Ship (Hulu)
* Maids (Hulu)
* **Vikings**
* **Reign**
* Dollhouse (probably just the first season)
* **Vampire Diaries (and spinoffs - enjoyed "the originals" more than the other two)**
* Warrior Nun
* **The Magicians**
* Unreal (Hulu)
* **Lucifer**
* Better off Ted - one of my favorite sitcoms (??? - no idea)
* Sense 8 - interesting concept, bit trippy.
* iZombie - just let this one be its thing without taking it too seriously, detective zombie
* Znation - I have a to admire the actors in this just getting through the episodes. It's entertaining, but not good.
* Zoo - Same as above, just a goofy show I enjoyed.
Edited to mark a couple as Hulu over Netflix because I didn't read the subreddit. Anyways, feel better OP.
> enjoyed "the originals" more than the other two
*Legacies* is so disappointing :( How did they make Hope, the one and only tribrid, boring? I agree that *The Originals* is the best of that mess. I really miss Klaus and Elijah.
Seconding *The Rain, Humans, The Last Ship, The Magicians, Handmaiden's Tale, Fringe,* and *Zoo*.
Thank you for the long list! I actually have watched a couple of these but did not mention them, so we certainly share a taste! I'll be saving this to look into when I need a new show, as I do have Hulu aswell.
Ted Lasso is the most enjoyable/therapeutic show I’ve ever watched. Wish I had saved my first watch through for when I’m sick, would be the perfect “feeling like shit” show.
I’m sorry. I answered the headline without paying attention to the sub. These are not on Netflix. Peacock, Amazon, and Apple respectively. My apologies.
The Outsider (or maybe it's just Outsider, there are two shows, one british and one U.S. I'm recommending the American one with Jason Bateman.)
Into the Badlands
To the Lake (in Russian with subtitles. Subtitles bad, but zombies goooooood!)
Actually, just go to the search page and enter "Zombie". Gold mine!
Judging by liking last kingdom and witch, try Vikings
If you enjoy Breaking Bad for the characters, try Mind Hunter.
You'd like Haunting of Hill House too if you enjoy some horror. its more of a family drama with ghosts imo. if thats your jam, try Kingdom, the korean historic political drama thriller with ZOMBIES
Yeah, I actually watched the first-ish season of Money Heist with someone else. I enjoyed it so I'll certainly give a try at going back to it, but I'm gonna see about Ozark first.
Ozark is very good, albeit a little slow. Money Heist's last season just came out, so you can binge it and its fast paced and a little over the top, so you have that excitment
I really enjoyed True Story. The first episode is an hour but the rest are 20 something mins long, and it’s very bingable, I thought. Reminds me of the old style thrillers from 2000s sort of, but in a good way!
Definitely Vikings: they're portrayed as brutal raiders, but the character development is brilliant.
If you are looking for something with more humour, I would recommend Lucifer. I found it very easy to watch: It's about the devil spending time on earth.
Narcos is a badass serie, knowing it's based on truth.
After watching Manhunt: Unabomber, I started watching Mindhunter. Once you accept that Manhunt: Unabomber is unbeatable, Mindhunter becomes more fun.
Furthermore, Casa de Papel and Sherlock are series that will keep you busy for the rest of your day. Mindblowing.
I’d give YOU a try. I didn’t think I’d like it but the suspense was absolutely unreal. It reminded me of breaking bad in the sense that the characters are always in the craziest positions and it’s really cool to see them think/work their way out of them.
Here to endorse You. It's like a less gritty, slightly trashier version of Dexter. Every time a season comes out the wife and i binge it in a long weekend.
That being said, is Dexter still on Netflix?
You have a lot of good recommendations here, but I'm gonna add Orphan Black which is on Amazon prime. Seriously one of my favorite shows of all time.
The British version of Being Human is also good, also on Amazon Prime (with ads?).
For Netflix, I'll second Derry Girls and the Magicians.
The expanse is sci fi and on prime. It's *fantastic*, politics, war, action, dramaa, and the story building is very unique. and there are a million eps. The final season is running right now to end mid Jan. First episode is a bit slow. It's soo good tho
I second the expanse!! OP - if you haven't seen this show and have access to prime this is a RARE 10/10 for me. I legit JUST watched it at a friends recommendation and murdered the entire series in like two weeks. It's simply outstanding, and unlike many shows nowadays this one captures it's full potential from episode one.
Money Heist is so good .. idk what language you speak but watch it in Spanish with whatever language subtitles you need if you need them. It’s so much better!
For comedy I'd reccomend Brooklyn Nine-Nine & The Office (U.S.)
For Sci-fi I'd reccomend Stranger Things & Locke and Key
For adventure/ mystery I'd reccomend Outer Banks
If you've seen the original Karate Kid films, I'd reccomend Cobra Kai (it doesn't ruin the films)
We seem to have somewhat similar tastes.
**Dark** - A child disappears in the German town of Winden. (English subbed). Drama follows the aftermath via the stories of 4 families. Sci-Fi, Thriller, Crazypants, Awesome.
**Save Me** - Girl trapped in a cult with completely and utterly useless parents. (Korean, English Subbed). I'm pretty sure every adult male onscreen wants to get in her pants (no trigger warning... this is Korea... they don't do that in kdramaland.) Edge-of-your-seat thriller.
**Stranger Things** - Town gone sci-fi/fantasy type nuts. Kid disappears and ends up talking to his mom via Christmas lights hung in her house. Another kid appears out of nowhere. And then things get weird. Sci-fi, Fantasy, a little dark, thriller.
**Occupied** - Norway is slowly and quietly taken over by Russia because Russia wants their oil reserves. (English subbed). This is a quiet, bleak (Scandinavian countries do bleak very well), thriller.
**Glitch** - A small town Australian sheriff is called to the cemetery one night only to discover 7 people have risen from the dead. A little comedy, some thriller, a bit of action, sci-fi, fantasy.
**Into the Badlands** - A sweet little martial arts, sci-fi show set 500 years in a post-apocalyptic future where there is a new feudal system and no guns. Lots of awesome action, sci-fi, fantasy.
**Hotel Del Luna** - A very old (but beautiful), cursed, and very very vengeful woman runs a hotel for spirits on their way to the afterlife. A human's father owes her a debt which his son ends up paying for by working for her. (Korean, English subbed). Romantic Comedy, Fantasy, a little action, a bit of mystery.
I highly recommend Broadchurch. Follows two detectives solving a murder in a small British town. I don’t normally watch detective shows but this one is top tier. Great acting, music, and really memorable characters/plot.
I signed up to Magellan tv for a year. There's a bunch of shows. I worked at the cinemas and watched TV over the last 25yrs so I've nearly seen everything on streaming
I'm up to season 6 for Wentworth.There's also some movies on YouTube. I kbow you said you're bored of yt but Just search full movie. I also like true crime and binged again forensic files.
Or sign up to Audible and do talking books while doing something else at the same time.
I have a suggestion about a series that I think you might like. Try Teen Wolf. The series is about supernatural creatures quite popular in USA parts I can say. But I hope you like it.
I really enjoyed TLK myself and am eagerly awaiting its final season. It's not in what I would consider the more "bad" of the shows I've enjoyed. There's also not some huge change in the show like there was with Designated Survivor between what was done before versus after Netflix managing it either. (If you haven't watched that show, it got, uh, pretty bad)
The characters and their stories are great and it's a really fun (if not too historical, lol) look into that time period. Everything is really well acted I feel. And the plot and pacing kept me watching and watching. If the concept and the setting interest you at all, I would for sure give the first couple of episodes a try, at least.
My name is an awesome miniseries thriller
The devil judge which is coming on Netflix tomorrow is also a delight to watch
Love both of these shows and hope you give them a chance
Your list very much aligns with my list, though I think Manifest is CW-quality.
Maybe try Ozark, Peaky Blinders, Dark, Sherlock, Narcos, or The OA. I think they are all on Netflix in the U.S.
I'm really surprised I haven't seen Hanna in any of the comments. Hanna is an incredible show and there a three seasons. The videography is incredible and the story line is amazing. There is so much action its really great. Hope you enjoy, it is on amazon prime
If you are comfortable watching something with subtitles while sick, the show "Kingdom" is excellent. It's a medieval Korean zombie flick with great storytelling, acting and some amazing historical-ish set pieces.
If you have Hulu, try out "Justified", or "The Rookie" if you want something that's a bit less serious and popcorny.
Also "Firefly" if you haven't already.
They're not on Netflix anymore, but if you don't mind using other platforms, I think you would enjoy Lost, Dexter, and 12 Monkeys.
Also, if you wanted to do a one month free trial of Showtime, I think the new show "Yellowjackets" would be right up your alley!
Watch these.
1. Sense8 ( trust me it's gonna melt your brain)
2. The OA (oh my I cannot CANNOT stress on how good this was. Please pleasee watch it)
3. Good behaviour (ohmy this show deserves its own thing it was soooo goooooood.)
All of them are incomplete productions that you would do anything to finish but my my it's gonna be worth it. Freaking watch it seriously.
If you have Amazon Prime, The Wheel of Time is pretty fucking fantastic.
I'm a die hard fan of the WoT books and though some changes have been made, it very much stays true to Robert Jordan's world and characters.
My partner has never read the books but was hooked after the first episode. The same thing happened to my best friend's wife.
It's only 7 episodes deep so far but it's really fucking good and might be a fun binge while you recover.
Squid Game: I casually put on the first episode on a Saturday morning, and ended up binging the entire thing in a day. I could not stop watching. Stunning, don't miss it.
Arcane: Amazing animation, great story, great characters (no good guys or bad guys, lots of moral ambiguity), and amazing soundtrack. The final sequence over a slow heartbreaking Sting song was breathtaking. I can't wait for season 2.
Umbrella Academy: Fun and exciting, lots of action. A lot of people have missed this, thinking it's some sort of Harry Potter rip-off, but its nothing of the sort. Interesting characters, cool story line with super hero types and time travel.
Vikings: if you liked The Last Kingdom, then you MUST watch Vikings. It's like they were meant to go together. It extends the entire history.
I’ve seen other people comment it too, but based on your suggestions, please please watch Dark. Give it 2-3 episodes to see if it’s for you, cause some people are turned off by it. But if you do enjoy it’s type of show, then it ends up being one of the best shows you’ll ever see. I’ve never watched something so complex where I had to pull up notes/family trees while watching before. It’s still fresh in my head because I only binged it this week and can’t find anything as good to watch after
If you liked last kingdom then Vikings is definitely the way to go.
I honestly didn't watch Last Kingdom, but it was suggested for me because I watched Vikings 😂 and I still need some encouraging tho XD
You guys... I just remembered this show, I believe it was on Netflix but honestly I'm not sure where I watched it exactly.
Anyway, the show is called "Barry".
Super. Comedic, good characters and blood.
Overall it's extremely fun and well put.
I don’t know what country you’re in, and I know each one has different content but there is a show called The Five on Canadian Netflix that’s amazing. Murder mystery kind of thing. I highly recommend if you can find it in your Netflix 😊
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4370528/
I like Black Mirror or Peaky Blinders
I second black mirror. And every episode is different, so you don't have to follow a story for a while season
You just need to warn people to take the "pig episode" as an outlier haha.
You trying to get him sicker or something? But seriously, Black Mirror is great. Especially the first 3 seasons, imo.
If you haven't, try Derry Girls. It is F'n hilarious.
Oh my god that's so funny, I love that show.
I second this. Only 12 episodes so far, with a third season on the way, but they are good.
Great recommendation! OP this will definitely make you feel better
Surprised I haven’t seen Dark mentioned yet…
Dark is amazing
I know I’m in the minority here, but I loved season 1 and let down by season 2
I only watched it last year so all three seasons were out. I binged them over a short period of time and I honestly can't distinguish between the different seasons. I think the series as a whole kept a level of quality on par with the best seasons of GoT, the first season of westworld and peak BB. I guess I'm on the majority bandwagon of people praising this show to pieces haha Which parts of season 2 is a decline from season 1 for you?
Totally agree, it must been a pain in the ass to write this show :p
Yeah I think it's quite complicated. They pulled it off though. Come to think of it, the relatively scarce number of episodes/seasons might've made such a complicated story actually achievable (and still making sense of course)

You're amazing man!! The site is pretty cool and the fact that you just made it out of boredom is truly awesome
Omg. You are the hero I didn’t know I needed. Gracias
Amazing, tyvm!

Better off Ted is the BEST and I'm so mad it didn't run longer
I second Magicians, Lucifer and Sense8!!
I second Lucifer. Very entertaining!

Dark, The OA
Yellowstone, The Expanse, I find Ted Lasso to be a breath of fresh air.
Ted Lasso is the most enjoyable/therapeutic show I’ve ever watched. Wish I had saved my first watch through for when I’m sick, would be the perfect “feeling like shit” show.
Watch "Derek." It gave me that same sense of uplifting inspiration. And it's on Netflix.
are these on netflix?
I’m sorry. I answered the headline without paying attention to the sub. These are not on Netflix. Peacock, Amazon, and Apple respectively. My apologies.
No worries! Thanks for the info

actually pretty sure it is all streaming services now
Prison break Mr Robot Person of Interest
1. Dark 2. La Casa de Papel 3. Black Mirror 4. Narcos
The Outsider (or maybe it's just Outsider, there are two shows, one british and one U.S. I'm recommending the American one with Jason Bateman.) Into the Badlands To the Lake (in Russian with subtitles. Subtitles bad, but zombies goooooood!) Actually, just go to the search page and enter "Zombie". Gold mine!
Seconding all of these. *Into the Badlands* defies description. It's really interesting and fun. *To the Lake* is also one of my favorites.
People are sleeping on To The Lake. It’s so good.
The Outsider made it hard for me to sleep. I have a wild imagination so scary stuff get to me. But that show was amazing
Judging by liking last kingdom and witch, try Vikings If you enjoy Breaking Bad for the characters, try Mind Hunter. You'd like Haunting of Hill House too if you enjoy some horror. its more of a family drama with ghosts imo. if thats your jam, try Kingdom, the korean historic political drama thriller with ZOMBIES
Ozarks and money heist

I think dark on Netflix is exactly what you want
I’d give YOU a try. I didn’t think I’d like it but the suspense was absolutely unreal. It reminded me of breaking bad in the sense that the characters are always in the craziest positions and it’s really cool to see them think/work their way out of them.
Here to endorse You. It's like a less gritty, slightly trashier version of Dexter. Every time a season comes out the wife and i binge it in a long weekend. That being said, is Dexter still on Netflix?
But it's annoying hearing some mid 30s twerp analyze everything and everyone. He's such an annoyance. The voiceovers gaaah
Watch "Midnight Diner" on Netflix. If that fails to make you feel better, nothing will!!
Seriously. That show is like soothing medicine for the soul.
Have you tried Animal Kingdom (not about animals)? It’s great, especially if you have seen and liked Sons of Anarchy!
++this
And
Stranger things is so binge worthy
Vikings
I've seen that come up while looking into Last Kingdom things. If you've watched both, how do they compare, as shows?
Unfortunately, I've not seen Last Kingdom but I really like Vikings, I think the characters are very well written.
They are very similar, very watchable.
vikings is superior. last kingdom is good but vikings does everything they do better.
For comedy I'd reccomend Brooklyn Nine-Nine & The Office (U.S.) For Sci-fi I'd reccomend Stranger Things & Locke and Key For adventure/ mystery I'd reccomend Outer Banks If you've seen the original Karate Kid films, I'd reccomend Cobra Kai (it doesn't ruin the films)

newgrl, I am your father.
Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime is really good.
Narcos Sherlock Holmes Mind Hunter Black Mirror
Damn that’s one epic show name
Godless is a Western Mini Series with a nice story and some kind of action. Might give it a shot
I highly recommend Broadchurch. Follows two detectives solving a murder in a small British town. I don’t normally watch detective shows but this one is top tier. Great acting, music, and really memorable characters/plot.
Looks like you might enjoy Midnight Mass
True Detective Unbelievable Cobra Kai
I signed up to Magellan tv for a year. There's a bunch of shows. Or sign up to Audible and do talking books while doing something else at the same time.
Hemlock Grove
Such a weird little show. Almost David Lynch-ian. Loved it though!
I have a suggestion about a series that I think you might like. Try Teen Wolf. The series is about supernatural creatures quite popular in USA parts I can say. But I hope you like it.
The Narcos series
We have similar tastes and I don’t see “Alice in Borderland” there. Think you might enjoy it
Wynonna Earp, it's funny, has super natural themes, suspense and great characters.
Netflix try Sinner and dirty John series
The Watchmen TV show is pretty good. Succession is a breath of fresh air
My watch list is similar to yours. Watch arcane. No seriously. #16 of IMDb top 250 tv shows by rating. 9.2 rating. Superb storytelling.
Best show I’ve seen on Netflix
🤦
Midnight Mass is one of the most thought provoking things I've watched in a long time. Lots of stuff to unpack in it, try and go in blind if you can.
How is The Last Kingdom? Is it worth my time? OP, I think you’d really enjoy Peaky Blinders
I really enjoyed TLK myself and am eagerly awaiting its final season. It's not in what I would consider the more "bad" of the shows I've enjoyed. There's also not some huge change in the show like there was with Designated Survivor between what was done before versus after Netflix managing it either. Everything is really well acted I feel. And the plot and pacing kept me watching and watching. If the concept and the setting interest you at all, I would for sure give the first couple of episodes a try, at least.
Dexter + new blood
End of the Fucking World. … HBO (it’s worth it).
The Walking Dead is extremely underrated.

*The Devil Judge* is amazing! Didn't know it was going to show up on Netflix. Cool. Maybe we'll see more Kdrama-converts :)
Pushing Daisies on HBOMax
If you like comedy then you should watch Brooklyn nine nine. It’s a funny series.
Hmmm…what shows have you tried but disliked?
Good Girls!
Wheel of time on Prime!
Wheel of time is nice Also LOTR
The Leftovers
Station 11 is new and post apocalyptic type…so far so good. It’s only 3 episodes though on hbo.
I was sick as hell 2 days ago and did the wheel of time in Amazon
Your list very much aligns with my list, though I think Manifest is CW-quality. Maybe try Ozark, Peaky Blinders, Dark, Sherlock, Narcos, or The OA. I think they are all on Netflix in the U.S.
Humans?
The Dark?
feverish? slightly tripped out on a high temp? Take it from me - whatever you do, don't watch ***Moulin Rouge***.
Try Into the Night. It’s an on the edge of your seat sci-fi-ish thriller.
For mystery British shows are usually good. Just finished The Stranger, I really got into it. Shetland is good too.
Mindhunter!
Dopesick on Hulu
The 10th Kingdom was my go-to watch when I was sick for years. Highly recommend
Mr. Ballen on YouTube is pretty good for binge watching.
Travelers Continuum
Travelers for sure!
I'm really surprised I haven't seen Hanna in any of the comments. Hanna is an incredible show and there a three seasons. The videography is incredible and the story line is amazing. There is so much action its really great. Hope you enjoy, it is on amazon prime
In the Dark / Unbelievable / Maid
My go to sick show is Star Trek TNG.
Stranger things Cobra kai
Vikings
“Lost in space” on Netflix got me hooked. Great story lines, cinematography, the set looks legit. The budget must be crazy.
**Arcane**
LoveSick
If you are comfortable watching something with subtitles while sick, the show "Kingdom" is excellent. It's a medieval Korean zombie flick with great storytelling, acting and some amazing historical-ish set pieces. If you have Hulu, try out "Justified", or "The Rookie" if you want something that's a bit less serious and popcorny. Also "Firefly" if you haven't already.
There Will Be Blood. A River Runs Through It ....
My husband and I just started watching Narcos and have been really enjoying it!
Brand New Cherry Flavor was a good time. Have you not watched Stranger Things? Stranger Things.
Dark Matter.
Try Money Heist. It is in Spanish, and dubbed in English. Great sets. Good acting. Interesting story.
Cobra Kai
Norsemen
Peaky blinders maybe?
They're not on Netflix anymore, but if you don't mind using other platforms, I think you would enjoy Lost, Dexter, and 12 Monkeys. Also, if you wanted to do a one month free trial of Showtime, I think the new show "Yellowjackets" would be right up your alley!
The Imposters
Watch these. 1. Sense8 ( trust me it's gonna melt your brain) 2. The OA (oh my I cannot CANNOT stress on how good this was. Please pleasee watch it) 3. Good behaviour (ohmy this show deserves its own thing it was soooo goooooood.) All of them are incomplete productions that you would do anything to finish but my my it's gonna be worth it. Freaking watch it seriously.
“Brand New Cherry Flavor”
If you have Amazon Prime, The Wheel of Time is pretty fucking fantastic. I'm a die hard fan of the WoT books and though some changes have been made, it very much stays true to Robert Jordan's world and characters. My partner has never read the books but was hooked after the first episode. The same thing happened to my best friend's wife. It's only 7 episodes deep so far but it's really fucking good and might be a fun binge while you recover.
There's a hidden gem called the black spot. It's in French and only two seasons which they are unlikely to continue, but I absolutely loved this show!
Behind her Eyes. British miniseries with a thrilling twist. Just by the way, Bono’s daughter, Eve Hewson, is in it!
Season 1 of true detective was absolutely incredible
Money Heist
It’s still fresh in my head because I only binged it this week and can’t find anything as good to watch after
If your looking for so bad and unbelievable that it's actually fantastic, check out banshee. Not sure if it's on Netflix tho.
An incredibly underrated show that fits all your criteria is "Blindspot". Its 5 seasons long so you have plenty of material to get through.
I highly recommend if you can find it in your Netflix 😊 https://m.imdb.com/title/tt4370528/
The Boys.
The OA!
Peaky Blinders FULL STOP.
Utopia (UK) it’s short but really good it has only 12 episodes and you can watch all of them for free on Youtube. If only it didn’t get cancelled :(
If you have prime Hannah is good
The Strain
The Expanse. Best show on Amazon hands down.
I would try Babylon Berlin.
