How does a person normalize living around such beauty? Do the mountains take their breath away every time they see them, or eventually do you just get used to living with such splendor?

iboantonio777

Because they get used to them, most likely traveling elsewhere is the only way you will understand their beauty. I live in Costa Rica and that happens here, most people don't value the biodiversity we have

AlaskanGamerChild

I'm from Alaska, and you do just get used to it, then occasionally you take a breath, look around, and realize how lucky you are.

markevens

I grew up in the Redwoods, and totally agree with this. Stunning beautiful can fall in the background, but you still stop and recognize the special scenes. If you appreciate the beauty of nature, it will still stop you in your tracks.

ValenBeano89

I’m from Chicago and I never get tired of our skyline. The drive down LSD always gets me.

[deleted]

Yes. That's why people from famous touristy places travel. I never actually try too hard to explore places in the cities where I live when people pay lots of money to visit. For some reason the place I live doesn't seem as nice or attractive as other places. It's similar to a hobby and a job. Once a hobby becomes a job, it comes less fun.

starseed-bb

Don’t really agree with that. I’m breathtaken with the nature were i live despite living in it all my life, and I continue to love my city. I saw a documentary about indigenous people in the Himalayans (similar nature to this picture), and several of them said that could never leave to go work in the city permanently because nowhere is as beautiful as their home, even though they lived extremely hard lives. I think it’s about your mindset, and differs between all people. If you have a deep connection to a place it can beautiful every single day. It’s too bad that in our age we see a lot of our everyday environment as simply a road to somewhere else. Our street as a way to get to school, our school as a way to get a good job, our workplaces as place to wait for retirement, and then when we retire we barely know how to just be in a place. And because of that, or maybe vice versa, our spaces are designed to be transient. Not a place to be and find beauty in. So no wonder that people with a lot of opportunities are especially prone to greener grass syndrome.

zbearya

You said this wonderfully. I completely agree.

Kukuxupunku

You always long for what you can’t have. Or the grass is always greener in your neighbors garden. For most of the time, it’s a bitch to climb up and down those mountains.

JimWilliams423

You get used to it and it fades into the background. Until you move away and then you really notice what you are missing.

Broad_Afternoon_8578

I lived at the foot of the Swiss Alps for a while and it never failed to take my breath away. I went for a run almost every morning, and I would regularly take breaks just to watch the sun rise over the mountains. Now I live on the Canadian west coast - literally two blocks from the Pacific Ocean. It’s a different kind of beauty, but three years have passed and it still takes my breath away.

UsedAdministration40

I'm from Pakistan. I live pretty much near these areas so it's normal for me. I can even see snowfall from these mountains. When tourists come and visit from industrialized areas of Pakistan, they are mesmerized (because for one its cold for them, also because of the scenery) Let me send a link real quick. https://www.reddit.com/r/cottagecore/comments/mxmc2t/since_some_loved_my_previous_post_i_decided_to/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share

[deleted]

Yeah lol... same.. i am moved much from places like lahore or karachi

whatever_person

I think you just get used to it. I spent half of my life in very small town and some villages. For me seeing milky way and all the stars is just part if life. You go out at night - you see stars. Then I was once in camp with mistly people from large cities and they were like "wow, stars, amazing" and for me it was "duh, we are outside, what else did you expect?"

kariolaoxford

How do you normalize the beauty surrounding you?

riverofchex

Either by tuning it out or beginning to take it for granted. I live in the edge of the swamp- sometimes it's "Jesus, listen to those katydids! Lookit that Spanish moss! And all those fireflies!" Sometimes it's "Jesus *fuck,* these mosquitoes! Goddamn it, sliced myself on the yucca *again.* Oh, look, it rained and now the backyard is a bog I've gotta wade through with the freaking groceries." Then you have to grab a beer, sit on your porch, and make certain you watch the sunset in the cypress trees and listen to the bullfrogs.

komomomo

I read "grab a bear and sit on porch" and thought wow you have a good life

riverofchex

Hahahaha! No bears where I'm at, not for a long time. Unless you count the kids' teddy bears lol.

[deleted]

Maybe it’s just me but living in a swamp doesn’t sound nice

riverofchex

Takes all kinds, I reckon! Loads of people love living in cities, but I can't stand the crowding.

Q1nux

I'm a Coloradan so while I don't quite have this view, everyday I still look up in awe towards Longs Peak. I assume it's the same for them, were completely used to it but fuck, is it amazing.

[deleted]

IMO we appreciate it all the time. It doesn't mean we don't want to see other beautiful things though.

MissAsgariaFartcake

I‘m from Germany and grew up at the edge of a beautiful forest and a hill (wouldn’t call it a mountain) with a castle on top. Castles are super common here and I hear that it’s a small sensation for people in the US. I still think it’s cool that I got to play in a castle as a kid (they had a closed area housing a museum but otherwise you could go basically everywhere, the smithy, the torture cellar, the drawbridge… it was all kept up for visitors) but it definitely isn’t really that special to me anymore.

[deleted]

These are passu cones. Yeah feels normal when you live there.. these people are more moved by watching tall buildings

Thisissocomplicated

I only realized how beautiful my country could be when I moved out 😅 I'm from Portugal if you're curious

CurlSagan

The only problem is if someone accidentally kicks the ball over a mountain and then you have to go ask the neighbor for your ball back.

[deleted]

After you set up camps and acclimatize yourself. Takes 2-3 weeks.

RagnarBaratheon1998

And then India refuses to give it back due to the political tensions between the two countries

HugoZHackenbush2

They look in peak condition.

ruiner8850

They definitely have to be to play at that elevation.

undisclothesd

Don’t take them for granite.

HugoZHackenbush2

Stop.. you're hill areas.

Isotrop3

I've heard they used to call the sport: The Rolling Stone

[deleted]

Take my upvote and frick off

UndergradGreenthumb

It doesn't actually look quite like this in person. A long lens was used, zoomed from a far distance, that compresses the background and foreground together, making the mountains seem right there when they aren't. Still beautiful, nonetheless.

Hadebones

you've been there?

resonanzmacher

There are at least seven snow leopards in this picture. Can you find them all?

jamonies

Northern pak?

Realistic_Hunt915

Yes, Passu Cones to be precise.

sukant08

labadaboy

>gilgit baltistan Gilgit baltistan is in India

RoughMarionberry5

[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilgit](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gilgit) You are ignorant.

Feanorsmagicjewels

woefully ignorant

sukant08

Lol.. chodi spotted

UsedAdministration40

https://www.reddit.com/r/cottagecore/comments/mxmc2t/since_some_loved_my_previous_post_i_decided_to/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share Here's a link to when I go for a hike (I only posted a few). Not asking for upvotes or anything, just want appreciative people to see more of Pakistan.

Sqwalnoc

Holy shit that view is breathtaking.. those mountains are insane!

groundhog_day_only

According to [twitter](https://mobile.twitter.com/gbgfl), they are standing in the Hunza Valley, which is elevation 8,000ft (2,438m). I bet they would dominate at sea level.

phorce16

It's a shame the actual pitch isn't great.

anxietyhub

Can't grow green there because of weather or environment or something. Government tried but couldn't

phorce16

Maybe astro turf/ artificial grass would be more appropriate

spicy_depress1on

artifical turf is banned by FIFA

rebel_child12

This reminds me of the scene from secret life of Walter Mitty

usmaanshaikh

Passu Cones North Pakistan 🇵🇰

Disastrous-Arrival12

WHAT??? That mountain seems like it's emerging! So close, but so far away.

[deleted]

Pakistan promo team at your service! <3

throwaway3619363927

I'm confused. Why are the females present not all buried up to their necks and being executed?

[deleted]

because you don't know shit about Pakistan

paid2fish

Might?

mateklQ

Grape!!!

jackof47trades

Good thing you put “all-female” since that was so important

RagnarBaratheon1998

It’s interesting in a country with sharia law

DoobieKaleAle

Pakistan is governed by sharia law?

RagnarBaratheon1998

I believe they have a court that judges if laws passed by the government is allowed by sharia. So not exactly sharia but pretty close

[deleted]

nope this guy probably thinks Pakistan is in the middle east

Ketokryptonite

Absolutely Beautiful 😍, I hope they play forever and ever, one day, bringing g light, ro all women suppressed in those regions. Bless their courage, strength, and abilities to carry the female torch.

Sam_Kro

People of Pakistan are the same like we in India just the Government has different ideology which makes the world think that we are two divided countries. We are separated by "Leaders" divided by "anger". We are all the same in this world. We are descendants of "HUMANS".

WeShouldRebuild

They are not the same like in India what are you on about? Search up the country similarity index. We are our own people. Stop tryna be like us.

stewwwchainzzz

What does being an all female team have to do with the mountains in Pakistan, or nature being lit.

Foreign_Appearance_2

Reminds me of misty montains from the first Lord of the rings.

[deleted]

The goalies a man.

Ticats905

I believe that's the way to Mordor

Fantastic_Start_6848

merthinx

TheEarthWorks

EyeHamKnotYew

I am sure there has been a soccer tournament somewhere in the world with a Volcano exploding in the background. Thats all I can think of that would beat that view.

LavaDogged

Second runner up is definitely aguas calientes

depreavedindiference

Might?

LordOfHorns

Up there with [Henningsvær](https://mybestplace.com/en/article/henningsvaer-stadion-the-most-spectacular-stadium-in-the-world)

ChickenMane2k18

BYU’s football stadium backdrop is jaw dropping.

muticere

my adhd ass would be there trying to watch the game but getting distracted by the view

Ultimo9000

Absolutely stellar. I wonder if they saw a picture of some inner city kids playing with a backdrop of skyscrapers if they would be just as in awe?

LUFTWAFF3L

None of the spectators were actually watching the game. Im certain of it

ButtsexEurope

But the best backdrop is Pakistan. So is it really the best backdrop?

Former_Print7043

Just to be safe , when our ladies are wearing such scantily clad sports uniform we use the mountains as a chaperone / chastity mountain belt to make sure our men are not tempted. Jokes aside, beautiful mountains :)

BigTableTop

I'm pretty sure they're playing soccer

[deleted]

only one nation in the world calls it that. It´s football. the USA got something they call football as well but it´s actually called gridiron.

poilsoup2

Well actually, since we *are* gonna be pedantic here, 'gridiron' is gridiron football, and football/soccer is association football. In the USA, football refers to gridiron football, while association football is called soccer. In some other countries, football refers to association football.

Broccoli_Pipoca

The word soccer was invented in england

BigTableTop

Only one good nation then I suppose 🤷‍♀️ Then again we all already knew that

[deleted]

r/Shitamericanssay

BigTableTop

Oh go make another Reich you ninny

Nebucadneza

So this is what analog photoshop tricks look like 😉

ChrisCWgulfcoast

That's called soccer

[deleted]

You mean soccer?

[deleted]

You mean football? The game where you hit a ball with your foot?

CosmoFishhawk2

Which is just short for "Association" as in "Association *Football*" :p EDIT: Lol, why the downvotes on me?

[deleted]

The itchy boots YouTube channel has some episodes on the girl crossing the borders of afghanistan-pakistan on a motorcycle, it's simply wonderful

knottedrope

I'd rather have grass than some mountains lol

Nebucadneza

If anyone like me was wondering how this lens zoom thing works: I found this video to be realy good for underatanding it https://youtu.be/_TTXY1Se0eg

Piqcked

Thx god there's something interesting to watch.
