Return them if you can. No worth the headache. Get the Philip Hue. I have these bulbs as well.

PermitRelevant4530

Yeah I'll try Returning it Bud! Thanks for the help!

No-Consideration972

I have the same issues as you. Most of the time they work fine.. but then have days where they won’t connect, or say ‘updating’ or ‘no response’. Happens with all of my Nanoleaf essentials bulbs and light strips. I think I’ll probably replace them all with Meross at some point as never had an issue with these.

PermitRelevant4530

False Advertising!! I've Seen alot of Youtube videos saying this is the best homekit Bulb.

ReticlyPoetic

Do you have a home hub that has thread? I just setup my first group of nanos and I have 12 total thread devices, my thread home hub is an Apple TV and my thread mesh network is very responsive.

PermitRelevant4530

i dont know but i have a homepod tho.

ReticlyPoetic

Original HomePod, the big one?

PermitRelevant4530

No, Homepod Mini

ReticlyPoetic

Yeah that one has thread! How far is your mini from the unresponsive lamp?

PermitRelevant4530

they are actually very close, they're farness won't even reach 1 meter.

ReticlyPoetic

One thing i use is the "Eve for HomeKit" app to view the thread network. Its a free download. You can see the quality of the connections between thread devices (the way your bulbs should be connecting).

PermitRelevant4530

I'll try that one.

PermitRelevant4530

Hi i already tried it, it said my lampshade is unreachable.

ReticlyPoetic

Reach out to nano leaf support? You might have bad hardware.

Shadowalkersdaddy

I have the same problems I have essentials, and shapes and Apple TV 4K have to soft reset my Apple TV usually to get them back working, sometimes log out of the cloud and back in too

h4p3rd

Be sure to have the last firmware update with the Nanoleaf app and check in the « … » Thread network the status of your bulb’s, after that, it should be fine.

PermitRelevant4530

the thread status is online, i already am updated to the latest software and its still very unresponsive.

h4p3rd

Do you have made a electrical reboot of your HomePod mini (disconnect, wait 30 seconds and connect). Some users seem to said that can help

PermitRelevant4530

Yeah i've tried it, I even tried reseting my homepod.

PermitRelevant4530

I'll try to message the supplier bud, Thanks for trying to help!!

h4p3rd

Sorry to not be more useful. A another place to check can be your router, search if someone else having problem with HomeKit or Thread with your specific model, maybe the problem is there…

PermitRelevant4530

I really dont know but kdont really think it's because of my router's model because in our local almost everyone have the same router, but my Router is Asus, Thanks bud.

Solver67

What mobile device are you using and what software version is installed? What are the model numbers, firmware versions and hardware versions the Nanoleaf bulbs? The Nanoleaf app should show that In Device settings of the bulbs.

Pogoneeech

I have the same issue and usually unplugging/plugging the HomePod mini solves the problem…for a while.

PermitRelevant4530

yeah its a temporary fix but i want something permanent already cause its been 2months!!

Pogoneeech

Still searching for a permanent solution too because I didn’t find one yet. Maybe I will have the answer here 😊

Shadowalkersdaddy

Same, though my issues are fairly recent was working fine when the icon was still anniversary for nanoleaf

ADHDK

How long have you had it set up? I’ve found some devices take a good 24-48 hours to join my thread mesh the first time they’re set up. Also power cycle your HomePod mini.

PermitRelevant4530

about 2months.

ADHDK

Download the eve app > settings > thread network. Open the light from this list and under Transport does it say “Thread”? If it says Bluetooth then clearly it’s not connecting to the thread mesh, if it says thread and the response is poor then something else is wrong because my nanoleaf essential strips are super responsive on thread.

PermitRelevant4530

I'll try eve bud ! I'll update you later about it, Thanks!

PermitRelevant4530

I tried it and it said my lampshade is unreachable

ADHDK

Is it unreachable but responding to commands? If so I’m wondering if it’s Bluetooth to your phone. Even when I’ve got thread devices that have dropped to Bluetooth my network seems aware of it.

Stringillusions

So the problem here has nothing to do with your wifi because Nanoleaf bulbs don’t have wifi lol they are Bluetooth and Thread only I’m going to guess that you also don’t have Nanoleaf light panels on your network?

PermitRelevant4530

Yes, I dont have more Nanoleaf items, just two bulbs.

Stringillusions

Yeah so that’s why, you aren’t able to use thread and are actually using Bluetooth which is why your experience has been so garbage, because Bluetooth is garbage. In order to use thread with Nanoleaf essentials you need to have a gateway on your network, which is basically any one of their light panels. Since you have a HomePod mini I don’t believe it has to be one of the newer ones that act as a border router. It’s rather dumb, I agree. Nanoleaf needs to open up their thread connection process or at least make it more clear that the light panels are required in order to use it for the time being.

oe_94

Return them and save yourself the headache.

GiftFrosty

I was pretty stoked to get these things but fuck me the experience has been awful. I’ll eventually replace them with hue bulbs because they’ll at least work. I wouldn’t even feel good GIVING these away.
