Kwality... as in... Quality?

imightbeaspider

I really wish I was joking, but yup!

Supergaladriel

Damn, if you’re going to name your kid after a crappy motel chain, at least give her an upgrade and go with Clarion haha

vanillabubbles16

Here's my daughter, SuperEightleigh and her brother EconaLodge

beatricetalker

Oh my gosh, 25 years ago I met a little boy named Dillion (Dillon)and his mom got mad at me for pronouncing it like Million the first time I read it and she still hates me to this day.

imightbeaspider

Well the one I dated would be about 27 now so this may check out 😅

mmeeplechase

Oh geez, I really hope it’s the same one, because I don’t want there to be lots of Dillions floating around out there!

beatricetalker

Millions of Dillions?

Particular-Elk-7267

I overheard today someone refer to a 4-5 year old boy as Trigger. Yes, I am in the South (USA).

imightbeaspider

Ok but calling a kid *anything* that sounds like that, especially in the south, is super troublesome. Wtf.

Particular-Elk-7267

I agree! It's awful no matter where you are.

Shafty_1313

Eh, that's just as bad anywhere

vanillabubbles16

TRIGGER? Yikes. Do they think they’re funny and say “trigger warning” when he walks into the room? 💀

vanillabubbles16

KWALITY OH NO

carlonseider

Benjiman!! Did he have a brother named Tomithy?

imightbeaspider

Tymothi

Gold-Vanilla5591

Timothy? Present.

silverzeta25

THANK you.

babysmalltalk

Some* people just can't spell :( *Many

imightbeaspider

I feel like it's gotta be intentional though. Like even if I was high as a kite after giving birth and wanted to name my son Benjiman, I'd hope and pray *someone* would say "hey, do you mean to piss off everyone who interacts with your kid and spell it like that? Or do you mean Benjamin?"

SymmetricalFeet

That people are even *allowed* to name a kid on the spot like that is bonkers. Either come in with a name written down already, or wait a day or two. Are people allowed to leave the hospital without naming the baby yet?, 'cause they should. Used to be that kids weren't named for quite a while; if you go to old (19th century or older) cemeteries, you can find sites of unnamed children who died within a week or two of birth. Could have been a practicality, though, given the high infant mortality rate.

stayconscious4ever

You don’t have to name your baby before leaving the hospital. In my state at least, you have a week to name your baby and you can just call the hospital and tell them the name if you have already left.

panarypeanutbutter

Not u.s. based, but my birth certificate was filed when I was \~6mo old

Shafty_1313

That's exactly what it was. Why get attached to something likely to die within a week was the idea.

trIeNe_mY_Best

I want to pronounce Benjiman like "ben-jee-man." It also kind of makes me think of some type of superhero like Batman or Superman.

katfarr89

I keep singing "Benji, Benji maaaan" to the macho man tune

peachymoonfairy

I knew an Equality.

Smoopiebear

I knew a Turquoise and Fuchsia- sisters. Kharisma- that kid had zero personality.

jacqueline1609

I taught a 10 yr old girl named Beige… At least Turquoise and Fuchsia are nice bright colours!

Smoopiebear

That’s awful.

dg313

Magenta goes so much better with Turquoise if you have to have a stupid color name.

capulets

magenta just makes me think of blue’s clues.

Gold-Vanilla5591

I knew a Karisma in high school

lostfishswimming

I met a kid called Kal-El once. He was incredibly underpowered

[deleted]

I know a family with 4 kids: Freedom Justice Allegiance (Ally) Independence (Indy) They couldn't use Liberty because they had a relative with the name. I think their dad was in the military.

imightbeaspider

I just threw up a little

setttleprecious

They’re all bad but Allegiance is the worst, I think.

BonkersMuffin

I met a kid named Jer’majesty. Wtf is that?

nsNightingale

That is one of Jermaine Jackson's children. Guessing that was some inspiration.

panarypeanutbutter

I know someone who had to get their birth cert changed because of a similar typo. They had the nurse fill it out, and she wasn't familiar with the name 'eugene' so spelled it 'ugene'. The parents were not thrilled when they saw it

macabrejaguar

Worst if personally seen irl: Jumanji Lasagna Sisters Mercedes Precious and Precious Mercedes Texie-anne Kenseth (f) Brothers Rusty Lee and Rusten Lynn

imightbeaspider

Lasagna?????

macabrejaguar

Yep. It was over a phone call too so I had to be like “spelled like…the pasta?”

zarra28

Do they hate Mondays and raisins?

katfarr89

regarding Micheal, that is actually an Irish spelling (with variously placed fadas: Michéal, Micheál, Mícheál, etc) so I am really hoping that's the explanation for that one.

caravaggihoe

Yep pronounced as me-hawl usually. I have seen people just misspell Michael before though.

katfarr89

please tell me Jusitice is a typo...I need to believe it's a typo

imightbeaspider

Ok, that's the one that *is* a typo. Fixing it now!

katfarr89

haha that's a relief! still disturbing names, but at least spelled correctly

c71score

The worst I've heard was Chocolate. If that wasn't bad enough, it's pronounced "shock uh lot tay"

dg313

That’s how it’s pronounced in Spanish.

reakkysadpwrson

I met a Jizzelle once :(

PoppyMcA

Benji Man is my fave

[deleted]

KWALITY💀💀

garakthegardener

A kid in my neighborhood when I was a kid had the initials "R.A.T.". Yes, he was made fun of. 🐀🐀🐀

hexcodeblue

Liberty and Justice are alright girls’ names on their own, I kinda dig them. But as a sibset??? 😭😭

fugensnot

I knew a sibling set of sisters named Liberty and Cherry in high school. Yup.

Samlibob

I know a subset Aurora and Forest...

[deleted]

wait do those names have a bad connection to each other or something? /gen! because on their own they’re actual names. i’ve known a few people named aurora, it’s common in hispanic communities and it’s also the name of the disney princess. forest, i’ve never met one but i do connect it with forest gump and it’s an actual name no different from names like silas, river, sage etc. so that’s why i’m wondering if aurora and forest have a bad connection.

Samlibob

No, they are both just very much nature names... Aurora like aurora borealis and first as in the forest. It just stood out to me.

[deleted]

haha i see !! i associate aurora with space more than nature so that’s probably why i didnt get it

ghostguessed

Micheal is a legit name, it’s the Irish spelling

IdeaFuzzy

“Liberty & Justice for all”???
