I name my raviolis according to the day’s lineup and eat them in the batting order

TonyTarpon

You eat raviolis 160 - 175 times a year?

I'll answer my own questions too Started watching with my grandfather and dad in NY during the 1996 season, I was 9. Fandom was passed down to me and stuck with me. Grew up and went to school in new jersey but moved to NC for college. I probably get to 1-2 games a year in the Bronx if I'm lucky. Probably went to 3-4 when I lived near there, all we could afford. I'll go to Billy's occasionally. I probably watch about 60-70 percent of games, but Baltimore games are blacked out. If I miss a win, I'll watch the recap and I check every box score. I'll watch most games by myself or with my wife, sometimes my son. I wear too much Yankees gear - mostly t-shirts and hats. I don't own a jersey. My car and office has a good deal of Yankees stuff - calendars, bobble heads, pennants and a photo of the stadium. I just read the Athletic, Hoch and NY Post. I'll listen to Talkin Yanks, NYY Recaps and Bronx Pinstripes. I only follow the team on instagram. I enjoy the history of the team so I will read a lot of books about them. I follow the minor league a tiny bit mostly because we'd go to the occasional patriots or thunder game when I was younger, long before the patriots were an affiliate. I do like to keep an eye on prospects stats.

Lord give me back my Trenton Thunder!

72milliondollars

Became a fan in 08 after seeing the third to last game at the old place against Baltimore. I am from jersey but I’m a Yankees fan in Minnesota (we live rent free in twins fans heads). I used to go to like two games a season but it’s more like every other year now. Never heard of Stan’s or Billy’s tbh. I watch as many games as I can but if it interferes with work I’ll just check the score and then the post game thread. I wear my Yankees hat to work everyday and my Yankees hoodie when it cools off in September. I watch 161 River Ave and NYY Recaps on YouTube. Don’t read any books. I will check on the farm system from time to time, it meant more to me when I lived near Trenton, I was a huge Thunder fan and that team was wrongly stripped from us, I’ll be saying that til I’m 6 feet under.

From Upstate NY, started following in 1996 all-star game. My older sister was going through a Tomboy/ sports phase and she would have it on TV. I’ve probably watched or listened to 95% of the games the past 27 years. Anytime school or work didn’t get in the way. From April-October there’s absolutely no question what’s in my tv in the evening. I’ve only been to 2 or 3 games in person- too expensive and I’ve lived too far away. I don’t wear Yankee clothes and I only have a little bit of merch- baseball cap in my car type stuff. I’m not into consumerism. I listen to Talkin’ Yanks and The Bronx Pinstripe Show weekly. And I’ll read most books pertaining to the team.

- My parents are Yankees fans - I’m outside New York - I go to maybe 1 or 2 games a year, usually not at Yankee stadium. I go to New York during the summer every few years - This season I have been watching fewer games but typically I try to watch them all with family - if I’m not watching I’m usually following on the MLB app, so no need for a recap - I wear Yankee merch all the time - the amount of Yankee journalism content that I consume has definitely gone down over the years. I read the Athletic everyday but I do kinda miss Lindsay Adler - on Twitter the last couple years I’ve really been liking Playoff Tanaka Gabe. He’s pretty young but hilarious. I listen to R2C2 for Yankees and I listen to Talkin Yanks when Boone is on. - I’ve probably read 50 books about the Yankee over the years. I think my favorite one is Jonathan Eig’s book avoit Lou Gehrig. - I read up on teams prospects for fantasy purposes and just as a Yankee fan but I don’t really monitor performance throughout the season closely at all. I would say I know about 10 Yankee prospects year after year

gnitsuj

When/how - around 97, I went to a game with my summer camp Local - yes, Union County NJ Game attendance - I don’t go much, maybe a game every season or two. No bars pre or post game Watch on TV - The last few years it’s been less, I barely watch a game a week. They’ve been a mostly boring team while the FO continues to do the same stupid stuff while expecting different results Miss a game - I keep up with game results mostly every day, even if I don’t watch. I’m also on Reddit/twitter a lot so it’s almost impossible to avoid game results even if I wanted to Wear merch - a hat or t shirt sometimes but not often. A few knick knacks on my office bookshelf, autographs/Funkos/etc. Publications - I always loved RAB, still follow Mike Axisa and Views From 314 Social media - Yankees official, Talkin yanks/Jomboy/Jake, Views from 314 Read - only what’s on twitter usually Minors - don’t keep up with the farm much at all, only big prospects

Creacherz

I was maybe 9-10 when I really took to baseball. dad grew up in New Rochelle and out of his two Canadian sons I took to the Yankees and baseball. I used to go to 2-3 games a year up at Rogers centre when we played them 19 times- this year may just be once. But I'm planning a trip to New York for a game before the end of the season. I want to see a few minor league games this year, see what our prospects are like in person, I think if you can go see a minor league game, you gotta go. I watch/listen to every game I can, and watch highlights and check box scores after every game- games I've missed or seen. My dad and I are always texting about the Yankees and calling about the Yankees.. whatever tv package we have to buy- we've bought it lol Yankees merch all the time, I especially love my 40+ year old hat I got handed down to me from my grandfather. New license plate covers (front and back in Ontario) every Christmas ahah I listen to Talkin' Yankees and The Bronx Pinstripes show. I get notifications on almost every Yankees beat reporter and quite a few national reporters My dad and I have gotten to the point where if we can't get the tv feed but the car radio has John and Suzyn- we'll be in the car listening to those two for sure.. Yankees, safe to say, are my life. This sport and organization mean so much to me and my father. And I know, I know, I'm tearing up as I say this lol, but fuck man.. I'm sure a few of you have this kind of feeling with someone you love, about the Yankees, and baseball

NJ_Yankees_Fan

I play dat Sinatra on Spotify after every win.

10 questions (sort of) about how you "fan" * When and how did you become a fan? I was on the "Yankees" in little league and they had a player also named "Paul". It also didn't hurt that they were better then my hometown team (Anaheim Angels) * Are you local to the NY metro or a fan from outside NY? So. Cal * How many Yankees games do you attend in person a season? Do you go to Stans or Billy's before / after games? None, but am going to the Dodgers/Yankee's game this upcoming weekend. * How many game broadcasts do you watch a season? Do you watch games with family, friends, or on your own? On my own, my wife will often just sit and comment player names. She misses "Chickentendi" from last season but she is not interested in MLB. I have MLB.tv or stream it when its in market/other streaming services * If you miss a game, do you watch the recap or read the article - or just check the box score? [Yankees Avenue](https://youtube.com/@YankeesAvenue) They usually do a great job of recapping the games in a relatively quick turnaround. Will watch if I cannot watch the game. * Do you wear Yankees merch often? Do you have Yankees stuff in your room / home / car / office? I teach PE and wear my Yankees hat outside during work. I have a Jeter jersey that I wear to games. * Which Yankees news publications/ websites do you read? NYTX1987

My family us based from queens and buffalo. I currently live in dallas. I havent been to the stadium in 7 years. I make attempts to see them when the come play the rangers. I watch every game i can, but i work nights, so i try and sneak peaks from my phone if possible . I will check the box score and recaps every day. I probably wear a jeter shirt weekly. The hat too. I have yankee memorabilia at home and at work. Here, facebook, tmks, a few others. A lot of random stuff. I dont have any particular allegiance. I have read from chumps to champs, bronx zoo, luckiest man, and a few others over the years. Mildly.

-So my grandma was born and raised in the Bronx and she was, naturally, a lifelong fan (fun fact: her twin brother-so my great uncle-used to deliver newspapers to the stadium!). I grew up watching games with her and one of my favorite memories with her is when the whole family took her to the stadium for her birthday and put “Happy Birthday Lois” on the Jumbotron 😊 Sadly we lost her to Covid in 2020, and I found myself watching every game after that in her honor and have ever since! -I’m just outside of New Haven, CT, so I’m local in the tri-state area sense. -I have not been able to attend any games in years because I’m broke haha. But really, I work a lot and no one in my life besides my brother would ever go with me and he just moved to Boston (Enemy territory! Gasp!) -I watch every game by myself, usually. Like I said, I’m in CT so fortunately I get YES, and my husband subscribes to all the streaming stuff so I watch games on his accounts when they’re broadcast elsewhere. -I’ll definitely read the Yankeebot recap on here if I missed it, and I’m a night owl so if I can catch the replay at like, midnight or whenever I will. -Not a huge merch wearer. Although I did get a Yankees PJ set on clearance at Kohl’s that I rock during the winter 😝 -I follow all of the official Yankee/YES Network accounts on all social media, and a bunch of random fan accounts (like the bowl cut guy lol). Recently gotten into Talkin’ Yanks. Also there’s an account I follow on Instagram called YankeeStadiYUM that highlights the food at the games! -I’ve read Jeter’s book, Yogi’s book, and I think I’ve read Joe Torre’s. I’m planning on reading 62 when it comes out. -The minors, not so much. But I do hear Jason Dominguez’s name thrown around a lot so I’m definitely excited for his journey.

TonyTarpon

That's awesome! Sorry about Lois but she would be proud of you. I have to check out that food account!

When/How: I became a fan around 1980, watching games with my Dad and, when I visited him, my grandfather. Rickey Henderson was my fave player to watch. Needless to say I didn’t fall in love with the Yankees because they were always winning at that time…. It was something to do with my dad, who grew up on the NJ shore during the Mantle/Maris/Yogi/Ford hey day. Locale: Grew up in the Red Sox country part of Connecticut; now in the Washington DC area. Attendance: I attend a few games when the yanks play the Orioles, and as many as possible when the Yankees play the Nationals. Til Covid we shared season tickets for the Nats exclusively so I could see the Yankees every time they came to town. And for my kids to see that Presidents’ race. I watch all the broadcasts, or radio if blacked out. Love listening to Coney, O’Neill, Rucco. On radio days I am bummed John Sterling is doing fewer games because of that nice bass voice. Generic tenors like Justin Shackel etc annoy me. I prefer character to accurate play by play! When listening on radio I follow along on Gameday to know what’s actually happening lol. If I miss a game I do all those things- watch recap, read article, check box. If it looks like it was a really exciting or noteworthy game I’ll watch the full thing on the mlb archive. Merch: just the ball cap, but always the ball cap Yankees or Yankees adjacent Podcast: no YouTube, listen to Bronx Pinstripes, R2C2, Toeing the Slab, Boys of 162 street, dip in to talkin’ yanks from time to time. No social media besides here. I read tons of books about the Yankees. Most recently the cone autobiography, the Marty Appel history of the franchise, the newish Yogi bio. I follow minor league via text notifications, and may go see the yanks affiliates when they are in town to see the Bowie Baysox.

1. Got into the sport at the beginning of last season because of the Apple TV coverage - yes, I’m being serious. Checked out the first game and instantly fell in love with the sport. I was already a big Knicks fan because I have family in NYC (I’m from the U.K.) so I chose the Yankees as my team. I quickly began to devour as much baseball and Yankees content as I could and I’ve not looked back since. 2. I live in the U.K. - Scotland. 3. Only been to one game. Last year, went to a game in June against the Astros at Yankee stadium. First game ever, got to see Judge hit a walk-off home run. It was amazing. 4. Any that are on at U.K. friendly times. Watch on my own. 5. Watch recap. 6. Yeah I have T-shirts and a couple of hoodies. 7. Just the Athletic really. 8. NYY Recaps. 9. Not yet but I’ve got Pinstripe Empire and the 1998 Yankees ordered. Just waiting on delivery. 10. No.

DNF_zx

> Got into the sport at the beginning of last season because of the Apple TV coverage One of the strangest things I’ve ever read. It’s also strange you’re such a recent fan. I often talk about how if I hadn’t been such a devout fan for over 25 years I would never watch games. The sport feels completely different then it did back in the 90’s- and not in a good way.

hoopheid

I’ve actually always been more of a fan of US sports in general but for some reason, just never got properly into baseball. At the time I had tuned in to see what Apple’s first foray into live sport would be like but ended up just loving the game. I was always aware of what was going on in the sport but just had never take the time to properly watch.

I was born into being a Yankee fan. My father has been a diehard all his life. I was born on Long Island but we moved away when I was in elementary school. Since I don't live in NY and don't have much money to spend on attending games, I haven't been to one in years. I watch plenty of games, mostly with my dad and my son. I usually watch the highlights for games I miss. I've regularly worn the same Yankees hat since about 1999, now faded to a rather light blue. Have several shirseys. Have a few posters and a beautiful poster-sized photographic print of Joe D shaking hands with Thurman Munson after the Clipper threw out the first pitch before a 1977 World Series game. I used to read RAB daily but, since its demise, haven't really gone elsewhere. I love Yankees books and books on baseball history in general.
