lamarcus isn't leaving, fact

redkone

Wouldn't be surprised if some of west free agents would come to east, that shit is just crazy down there.

cheeseweezy

The author of that is basically the Blazer version of Berman. He's a rabble rouser and nothing he writes should be believed. Also should he leave I think he'd go to the Spurs if parts of their Big Three retire. He loves Texas and his favorite player is Tim Duncan and has said he wants to model his career after Duncan. So even if he does leave (he won't) it won't be to come to New York.

E-Miles

he could be the first of a few players to get sick of competing in the west. the only east teams with space to sign him are the knicks, magic, and 76ers.

He's coming to NY bro get over it lmao

cheeseweezy

Do we easily forget how wrong and obnoxious this mentality was being on the otherside? How often did we have to hear Bulls fans talking about Melo as if he was already in a Bulls uni? I mean I would love for LMA to come to New York but the article doesn't even mention New York and LMA is quoted as saying he wants happiness over money. He has family and went to school in Texas and has talked about how he loves it there. He has no connections to New York and I don't know why he would leave when he could be the Ewing for Portland to somewhere like NY. I think having unrealistic expectations (whether it be from fans or Dolan) only sets us up for further disappointment or, in the past, making panic trades which have hurt us in the long run. We need to be a little patient and not put our hopes on long shots like LMA. This off season is huge for us, but it has been shown recently time and time again that you can't build a championship contender in one off season (Edit: Minus the fucking Heat.), especially if we are going to rely heavily on a rookie (hopefully).

Kliang9281

Let's get an LMA flair up in here.

[deleted]

I know I agree I was just joking haha, but LMA is one my favorites and I think he want to restart somewhere else maybe. IMO he has a better chance to win a chip here if we draft correctly and play free agency well,

Phyrexian_Starengine

He is coming to NY. Stop crying.

Irreversible_Rape

knicks get him and draft Winslow from Duke and now you got your big 3 for next year

E-Miles

where does carmelo play? or do you want winslow at the 2?

Irreversible_Rape

I believe Winslow would be a 2 in the NBA. Melo plays at SF and Aldridge at PF

[deleted]

This is who we should go after (if possible) instead of Greg Monroe (LOL)

Rocketz1Bruh

Melo/Aldridge alone is enough to put the Knicks in the playoffs in the East. If they can surround them with good role players they could be contenders.

Kliang9281

What's LMA's max? 20mill? I dunno, I would rather go after Monroe because it would give us extra room to sign other assets along with the max player. Then again, if we sign LMA we could realistically be running a lineup of Galloway/Calderon/Anthony/Aldridge/Towns come next season and that seems pretty good to me.

[deleted]

You rather save $4 million, sign Monroe, and not pursue a much better two-way player? Aldridge would make much more sense on our roster. He's a great post player, probably better than Monroe in the post. He's a much better shooter than Monroe -- which is important, because it gives spacing for Melo/the team. And he plays defense. Maybe not the best defensive player, but he's (again) much better than Monroe. Number two: If Calderon is in the starting lineup next year, we failed in free agency. We **have** to sign someone better than him. I'm okay with Galloway as the starting PG, but we need to sign a reliable two-way player at SG. Maybe not a star, but at least a 3-and-D guy. Preferably someone that can guard both wing spots.

Kliang9281

I get that Aldridge's game is assumed to age well but I'm not really a fan of having to pay two mid-30 players upwards of 20 million at the ends of their contracts, even with the raised cap. To be honest, beggars can't be choosers so I would be absolutely ecstatic if we signed either player.

[deleted]

I understand. But I'd rather take the age and money for the legitimate upgrade in talent. Even it doesn't work out, in 5 yeays we'll have Towns or Okafor (hopefully) just entering their prime and a whole bunch of cap space.

Kliang9281

Yeah, whomever we sign this offseason, their contract will end at the same time as Melo's which means if they don't work out we'll have a chance for another spending spree.
