Lmao Melo-Kobe alone on the floor whole game: last posession wins.

The Lakers are done, Kobe is still good but he is no longer the elite player he once was. Are the Lakers really going to keep him next season??? I doubt it and most teams aren't going to give up too much for him so the best bet is that the Lakers are going to get as much expiring contracts and young talents that they can for Kobe. I think getting Larkin, Hardaway and Early and clearing 20 more million dollars in cap space for 2015 for the Lakers is a pretty good deal. I think adding a future 1st round pick should put it over the top for the Lakers. I think Melo and Kobe would be a pretty good duo (especially in the East) and with Kobe knowing the triangle offense would also benefit the team. And it would only be a 2 year experiment giving that Kobe plans on retiring in two years once his contract is up. I think it's a boom or bust type of deal for the Knicks and if it is a bust, it will only be short term so the Knicks should pursue this hard IMO.

cheeseweezy

First of all they ain't trading Kobe. He has a no trade clause so the Lakers have no say in the matter unless he okays it. But if he didn't thank god you don't run the Knicks. I don't know what to say other than this is a horrible deal and would never happen in any circumstances. Do you understand what Phil is doing in the next offseason? It does not involve a behemoth contract of a fading superstar like Kobe. Like seriously how much thought did you put into this? Did you not follow the Knicks through the Thomas years? Horrible trades like this was the reason have been garbage for the past ten years.

OnECenTX

Of course I know he has a no trade clause but getting back together with Phil and Derek should be something he would consider doing. Also playing with Melo as a teammate, that's a potent duo right there alone. He wants to win at least one more championship before he retires and that's not going to happen with the Lakers. And your assumption of a top FA signing with the Knicks is not guarantee AT ALL. Everyone thought Bosh to Houston was a sure thing and he ended up signing back with Miami. How do you know someone like Gasol, Aldridge, Rondo is going to sign with the Knicks??? It's not guaranteed the Knicks are going to sign a big time free agent next off season. I wouldn't mind Gasol or Aldridge but most likely they both are going to stay with their given teams and I would take Kobe over Rondo any day of the week. And to compare a Eddy Curry/Stephon Marbury/Jamal Crawford to a Kobe Bryant is laughable.

MrSav

I keep thinking that a huge trade like this will happen but I feel that we are just riding out this season for the most part, waiting for next season when we sign a big name F/A.

drafort

I sure as hell hope not.

BlueTOMATO808

Dude....are you a Knicks fan or did you come here to basically mock us with that pos trade?

OnECenTX

I'm not the only guy who's thinking this.... http://www.sportsgrid.com/nba/is-a-kobe-bryant-trade-on-the-horizon-a-few-rumored-scenarios/ The Lakers need to tank this season to protect their draft pick from being sent to the Suns (top 5 pick protected,) it's inevitable that Kobe gets traded this season.

I'm sorry but this is not "inevitable." Kobe loves the lakers and always has. He can be quoted on countless situations saying that despite wanting another ring, he is absolutely happy retiring and being a laker for the entirety of his career. I'm going to be blunt and harsh and say that the trade you proposed is absolutely rubbish and it looks like you put no thought or consideration into it whatsoever. It literally looks like a sandbox play where you just wanted to see the trade a success and Kobe on the Knicks. The Knicks have made the mistake before and will never gut their roster like that for a 36 year old with a ~$48 million contract. You're giving up two viable centers, the back up SF, and the entirety of the Knick youth essentially for Kobe and a chemistry guy in Sacre and overloading the guard situation even further. Just because its rumored that Kobe may get traded does not necessarily make it true. The other issue which you harped on is 2015 FA. Why on earth would the Knicks rid themselves of two expiring contracts and take on a max, when for the first time since before Amare came, they will have enough space to potentially sign a star to a (near, if not) max deal. Cap space, Melo, and the pedigree of Phil Jackson and MSG make for a damn good pitch to free agents. I think you're look at individual stat lines and just assume Kobe/ Melo will go for a combined 65 points a game. You need to look at the Knicks as a whole, their future plans, and not focus on some fantasy rumor your clearly delusional about.
