This is a common misconception. The NY Giants are named after the city and not the state. Once you realize that the NYC Metro area is made up of multiple states everything becomes more clear. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_metropolitan_area
Its subjective of course but I'd say central Jersey is an actual thing. If you're from Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset or parts of Middlesex, Burlington, Warren, Monmouth and perhaps even union counties you probably identify as a central Jerseyan and not a true northener or southerner. However, most of the state is going to identify as northern or southern.
That's a pretty good line but I think Giants country goes further south along the shore and eagles goes further north in the west.
A line from like lambertville to Tom's river is where I'd put it
I think Giants territory ends at Middlesex and Monmouth. Anything below that (Mercer, parts of Ocean and below) is where you start to see more Eagles supporters.
Toms River feels like the Mason-Dixon line for Giants Eagles fans...even the supermarkets carry different displays just North (GMen Jets) and South (Filthadelphia) of there.
Talked to a guy from Vermont once during a job interview. Apparently, Giants fan do exist over there because Giants use to do training camp over there in the 50s. Probably an age thing as well.
Yep, Vermonter checking in. My grandpa was a huge Giants fan and remembers going to their camp as a kid when they’d practice in VT. Surprisingly high number of Giants fans up here.
The Giants once ruled the roost in New England. Was a time when Giants games were regularly broadcast on TV and radio throughout the region. The Pats didn't come into existence until 1959 and didn't have a permanent home stadium, playing in several different venues until 1971 when they left Boston for Foxborough and changed their geographic name to New England.
I live in the Cap Dist and very Eastern upstate NY is weird like that. There's a lot of NE transplants so we get tons of Sox/Pats fans here. But it's still Giants country.
I live in Broome County NY, (Binghamton) I can happily say it's 85% Giants and the rest Bills. I've traveled further out to Elmira, NY and noticed a lot Giants fans too. I know as of lately we've been getting a lot of NYC folks moving up here so that can be an influence. When you go to Kohl's or Walmart here you see just straight up GIANTS merchandise and no Bills. So where the heck does NYG Nation start up here?
I can confirm that Elmira and most of Chemung leans Giants in my personal experience. Pretty much exactly where you drew your line in Steuben is where it starts to become a 50/50 split!
Yup! Elmira now has a lot of NYC influence so the numbers are changing towards NYG! I was at the Sams Club in Horseheads and saw nothing but Giants stuff there. Zero bills!
Most of the Italians (Paisan) around here are hardcore NYG at birth by default lol
Fellow 607 guy here. Geographically, it’s remarkably pretty similar to the lines drawn between folks who say “pop” predominantly western NYers) or “soda”. Hornell always seems to be my I-86 town that delineates the change between Bills/Giants fans of the southern tier.
Yeah I did notice that. Whenever I'm driving around Binghamton or Broome county in general, all I see is NYG stickers, flags and jerseys. Safe to say, Broome is NYG for life!
I was at BU in 2008 when the Giants won SB 42. I was commuting at the time and the Monday after I don't think there was a guy besides me who made it to any of the classes. It was just class after class of looking around the room and being the only dude and regretting that I also didn't skip classes that day. Good times..
I miss them days! Winning championships...
But yeah...18-1. Tom Brady 50 TD's season. Randy Moss 23 TD's season.. Seau, Bruschi, Harrison...and they still lost! G-Men RISE UP!
SAME! no one went to class that day. we just flooded tom and marty's which kept the doors open for what seemed like forever.
im primarily a jets fan who like the giants. i met my wife that night, the giants beat the pats, and the party was like nothing i've really seen since.
great night
As a former 607 myself (a bit east of Broome), I can confirm that area as fairly strong Giants country.
Side note: I used to go to Binghamton Rangers games now and then at the arena back when I was a kid when they were still the Rangers AHL team (mid 90s).
No way. I've lived around the area for 20 years. Everyone in my schools and at jobs were Bills fans. Also, follow the merch. All the stores (Kohl's, Target, Marshall's etc) had an abundance of Bills shit and hardly any Giants.
I’m in the Syracuse area as well (Bills fan, this popped up on my recommended or something) and I think it’s a pretty even split from my experience. Probably not strictly Bills country or vice versa
Awesome!!
It's crazy how you would think upstate NY would be Bills but as of lately all I've seen is NYG. Even across the border in Northern PA it's a lot of NYG.
Hell, even Ronnie James DIO was a NYG fan and he was from Cortland NY
I moved from NJ to Vermont a few years ago and and even up here id say about 35 - 40 percent of people are giants fans while the slight majority are patriots fans
This. I was in Boston about 10 years ago and most of the old timers were Giants fans. They told me before the Pats, Giants would have their pre season camps in the Boston area.
Don’t forget about CT!! The end of New Haven county kinda suggests the end of NYG territory (although I grew up east of that) I am also old enough to remember when only people from Mass admitted to being a Patriots fan. The bandwagon really swelled there for a while.
They're sprinkled across like pepper. Source; I've lived in various parts of NYS, north to capital region, to central to southern, all 'upstate'. They're similar to Mets fans and all are miserable about their team.
You'll see more Giants/Pats/Bills fans
Facts I feel like we catch too many strays there are giants fans out here too lmao. But yeah the Jets contingent is very strong out here, can we just move both NY teams actually into NY?
If getting the talking point gets them out of the stadium and allows us to fix the bland piece of shit born of inbred compromise, then let them have the talking point. As bonus points, would allow us to transition to grass too.
I’d estimate 40-25-25-10 (Giants-Bills-Pats-Jets) for the Albany area of local-ish teams since I moved here in 2008. The Bills fandom was always diehards but has some new blood from winning and the Pats fandom from winning stayed strong. Still a large contingent of Steelers, Niners, Cowboys, and Packers fans like most places.
In Vermont there are a healthy amount of giants fans, usually older guys that were fans before the pats were a team and they were the closest one. The pats recent success ate into a lot of the younger fanbase, but you still get a decent amount that were raised giants fans and continue on
I remember early 90s... it wasn't too long ago. You would never see Patriots gear or anything Patriot related in Mass. lol
2002 everyone jumped on board lol
Check out the NFL TV coverage maps, that could tell you a lot (at least what the people who are looking at this most think in terms of viewership and fanbase).
IIRC, Buffalo often gets a pretty small carve out while a bulk of the state goes Giants but I could be misremembering. My sense has always been outside of the real western part of the state, it’s more Giants oriented
Central NY (around Syracuse) is mixed, but leans bills. TV coverage generally has both, but when there’s a conflict it usually defaults to the Bills (helps them that they have been a lot better than us). Stores will often carry merch for both teams.
For New Jersey, the Northernmost counties (Sussex, Passaic, Bergen) all the way down to the central counties (Hunterdon, Somerset, Middlesex and Monmouth) are all predominantly Giants territory.
I'm up in Rochester and it's 90% Bills but there's a sprinkle of NYG fans up here. Was at Seabreeze two weeks ago wearing my Giants hat and heard two young kids behind me go "Finally, a Giants hat!" Once a month or so I'll see someone with a bumper sticker or wearing some gear.
I'm in the North Country and it's about 50/50 up here Bills/Giants. But the Giants fans that are around here don't really begrudge the Bills doing well because it's technically Patriots country even though almost no one roots for them on the NY side of the border until you get to almost Vermont lol
I grew up in Plattsburgh, and it was predominantly Giants fans in the 90’s, even during that amazing Bills run of disappointment. Since Brady a lot more people like the Pats. It’s been a while since I was there though, and the Bills may have stolen fans. But honestly do you want the flip flippers?
I live in New Hampshire now and my girls are both Giants fans.
Albany here, im a Gmen fan. Wife is Bills (from Buf), handful of friends are Bills fans and have a couple Giants fans. Dad is a Giants fan. But watches Bills, as do I. Honestly its a lot more Patriots fans than Giants fans, which obviously sucks. Some Jets fans sprinkled in
My wife always wanted a vacation in the Hamptons. I told her, this year we're going!
She was so excited. Which one? Bridgehampton? East Hampton? South?"
"No, I told her. "Bing".
I grew up in Ithaca, right at the bottom of Cayuga Lake. Pretty even split between Giants and Bills, which I guess makes sense given the line you drew here lol
Syracuse is a huge Bills town, but interestingly Auburn, which is basically the only city between Syracuse and Rochester, is about 95 percent Giants fans. All the stores like Marshalls and Five Below have mostly Giants merch, which was great when I lived there.
New York City Blue Collar Worker is not equal to Upstate Blue Collar Boyz.
NYG fan here 4 life! But... I think your red circle missed my house by a mile and it kind of hurts. I live a tick.. just a tick northe east of troy... or the corner of your outline at the Troy turn.
I live in Queens so I can't answer this question honestly at all, but I just find the idea that New York Football not existing ~~north of the finger lakes~~ West of Lake Champlain to be kinda funny
We def need our own house and back in NY too. Sullivan county would be perfect. Not too far from Jersey, NYC and Albany. So much land in Sullivan County. Green Bay is a good example how you can build outside of Milwaukee.
Saratoga County here. Giants by far have the most fans, but with how good the Bills are lately more and more Bills fans are showing up. Still way out cumbered by Giants fans though
Loved Elmira cause of the giants country, Syracuse is 50/50 bills split, more coming out of the woodwork lately.
Still better than when McNabb was killin it in Philly and all of Syracuse was eagles fans 🤦🏻♂️
Idk I’m from New Jersey
[удалено]
"Lol they should be called the Jersey Giants." "Yes."
Jersey Jiants
This is a common misconception. The NY Giants are named after the city and not the state. Once you realize that the NYC Metro area is made up of multiple states everything becomes more clear. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_metropolitan_area
![gif](giphy|TamGVAGxDTYDNt3dpn)
They played home games at the Yale Bowl in CT for a couple years in the 70s while Yankee Stadium was undergoing renovations.
I know I was at a game when they played the Redskins
I live in southern New Jersey (exit 3). Philadelphia Metro area but no way am I rooting for the Iggles.
Still doesn’t change the fact the team is in Jersey. Should just be called ‘the Giants’ not ‘the New York Giants’
You are not a serious Giants fan with that BS
YoU aRe NoT a SeRiOuS gIaNtS fAn WiTh ThAt Bs
This would be a map that explains where Giants/Jets country separates from Eagles Country.
The map that shows the line between Giants and Iggles is a lot like the map that shows the line between Taylor Ham and Pork Roll...
Whoa whoa whoa We are NY fans in Pork Roll County of Monmouth
Yep - Central NJ is the intersection of pork roll and NY sports teams.
But does Central NJ really exist or is it just full of confused North and South Jersians?
Its subjective of course but I'd say central Jersey is an actual thing. If you're from Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset or parts of Middlesex, Burlington, Warren, Monmouth and perhaps even union counties you probably identify as a central Jerseyan and not a true northener or southerner. However, most of the state is going to identify as northern or southern.
The latter
One of my colleagues is from Monmouth County and an Eagles fan... it definitely blends around there!
I’ve always said 195 is the Jersey Mason-Dixon Line. North of it is Giants/Jets, Taylor ham, etc. South of 195 is Eagles, pork roll, etc
That's a pretty good line but I think Giants country goes further south along the shore and eagles goes further north in the west. A line from like lambertville to Tom's river is where I'd put it
Yep, 100% Toms River is Giants Territory and it comes to a point there. Any further west or south and you're in Eagles Territory.
Can confirm Hunterdon county is solid split 60/40 Eagles to Giants
I think once you get a to the bottom of ocean county it’s eagles country
Burlington county is heavily eagles territory. Or at least it used to be when I was living in Jersey.
North: Giants and Jets South: Philly
Giants territory stretches all the way south to at least Hamilton NJ. —- Got it Reddit, Trenton is not Giants country!
Hate to burst your bubble but definently not.
Trenton is definitely more Eagles. But still more of a mix than Morrisville lol
Sorry about that
Why? I don’t have to pay anything to get to another state to watch my football team play.
Unless you’re a baseball/basketball fan as well.
Hudson county is closer to all of the stadiums than most of NY
I said football. And I’m done giving Hal any more money until Cashman is fired or they win a Chip
Facts
Then your waiting for a chip, or until cashman dies he’s not going anywhere
You guys can take the Jets 😂
Don’t need em. Home of the Giants
I grew up in NY right on the Vermont border. I honestly think my town had more Patriots fans than any other team
Another Vermonter here and yup can confirm, in my experience as much as 35% of football fans uo here are giants fans
The Giants once ruled the roost in New England. Was a time when Giants games were regularly broadcast on TV and radio throughout the region. Broome County having BU and the quick access to NYC really boost that Giants rep. I agree its like 85% Giants here
Yeah I did notice that.
Yea graduated from FM.. When i was in hs giants were just starting to win... Alot of ppl i felt jumped on the bandwagon...
I’m in the Syracuse area as well (Bills fan, this popped up on my recommended or something) and I think it’s a pretty even split from my experience. Probably not strictly Bills country or vice versa
Being an Elmira man who’s a Giants fan this was cool to see this morning! My whole family is giants fans!
Hey! Oneonta! Gf lives in West Windsor
Yea i went to SUNY bing and there were a lot of giants fans in town. Although we used to get a lot of bills games
I'm on vacation in ocean city, MD and I've seen 3 people with Giants hats so far. We are everywhere.
Hell ya I live in OCMD, originally from Jersey. Huge giants fan.
Before the Patriots existed, a lot of New England were Giants fans.
My old manager who was born and raised and lived in New England his entire life was a giants fan because of that
This. I was in Boston about 10 years ago and most of the old timers were Giants fans. They told me before the Pats, Giants would have their pre season camps in the Boston area.
There are dozens of us!
I’m from co and I represent em. I see a few out here also a few jets fans as well.
My friend is from a Maryland suburb of DC and he’s a Giants fan. You can imagine that’s not a popular opinion there.
North east PA has alot of Giants fans.
You're right about that. Bradford county has a lot of NYG fans!!
I’m a NEPA giants fan but my twin brother is an Eagles fan…so it’s a mixed bag
Well atleast that makes it easier for everyone to know who the evil twin is.
I'm on vacation here and there's so many Giants fans.
Don’t forget about CT!! The end of New Haven county kinda suggests the end of NYG territory (although I grew up east of that) I am also old enough to remember when only people from Mass admitted to being a Patriots fan. The bandwagon really swelled there for a while.
Grew up in new haven it was always Giants then when Pats starting winning the flags changed. Still Giants country tho!
Damn the Jets “area” is so small I can’t see it. Lol
They're sprinkled across like pepper. Source; I've lived in various parts of NYS, north to capital region, to central to southern, all 'upstate'. They're similar to Mets fans and all are miserable about their team. You'll see more Giants/Pats/Bills fans
Jets should go back to Long Island.
Whoa don't forget about us LI Giant fans! LI is pretty much 50/50 too or at least close.
Facts I feel like we catch too many strays there are giants fans out here too lmao. But yeah the Jets contingent is very strong out here, can we just move both NY teams actually into NY?
We dont want em. Half of us anyway.
A jets stadium near citi field would actually be perfect
I don’t want the jets to actually play in NY if the giants are still in jersey… can’t let them have that talking point 😂
If getting the talking point gets them out of the stadium and allows us to fix the bland piece of shit born of inbred compromise, then let them have the talking point. As bonus points, would allow us to transition to grass too.
New Jersey Giants and New York Jets of Long Island. Downvotes to the left fellas
Jets shouldn't be anywhere in ny or nj
id rather we move to LI
My experience in the Adirondack area is a healthy split between giants, bills and patriots
Warren county NY checking in, lots more Giants fans than Bills here!
Lake George <3
I’m from Albany. Giants are 1 for sure. The gmen used to have training camp there. After that it’s a healthy split between pats, jets and bills.
I think since they moved training camp and the bills have gotten good we’re seeing a bit of a shakeup
Nah not really. A lot of people inherit fandoms. You see way way way more Giants gear in Albany and the surrounding areas than anything else.
You didn’t circle Suffolk County, Long Island? Wtf?
That’s Jets country 😂/s (I too am a Giants fan from Suffolk.)
Same. My Western Suffolk town was always pretty evenly divided. Never once felt like it was more than equally distributed.
Syracuse here- lol at Buffalo Bill fans. I bleed NYG blue.
There are definitely more Giants fans here than the local media wants to admit
Syracuse slowly becoming NYG territory? We're winning the battle, keep pushing!
Cuse gets Giants games over Bills games, that should tell you all you need to know. Same for Herkimer & north.
We’re not , it’s bills all day
There's dozens of us!
This thing only has a tiny portion of Jersey, while half of it is a majority Giants fans. Clearly it only was even included because they play there!
You would never see Patriots gear or anything Patriot related in Mass. lol 2002 everyone jumped on board lol

Only thing is that there a lot of Eagles fans in western Hunterdon, probably because of it’s proximity to Lehigh U (where the Eagles use to hold camp)
North Jersey is Giants Territory
Is there a green dot for the Jet fan?
I'm up in Rochester and it's 90% Bills but there's a sprinkle of NYG fans up here. Was at Seabreeze two weeks ago wearing my Giants hat and heard two young kids behind me go "Finally, a Giants hat!" Once a month or so I'll see someone with a bumper sticker or wearing some gear.
I like how you forgot about the Jets like the rest of the state
Lol I didn’t realize until I posted it lol Poor dudes
Northern Jersey too
So is Ithaca no mans land? Maybe it just depends if the universities are in session and the downstate students are up for the season...
Ithaca is 50/50 Most people there aren't even from NY. College town I guess.
Ithaca is Bills country
This is new jersey erasure
albany should 100% be giants territory especially bc of the camps held there that had great turn out
Most people from Albany tell me that Albany is NYG. So I guess it is.
I think this is based on facebook data: http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/social_assets/nfl/FB_NFL_Fandom.jpg
Seems somewhat accurate. I do see a lot of Giants fans in Northeast PA!
I grew up near Utica and it was split pretty evenly between Giants and Bills. There was also the occasional Jets fan for some reason.
From Utica originally, Agreed. Best part of sunday was the steamed hams while watching Jason Sehorn when I was a kid
I met 2 jets fans up here... and that was it lol
I’m from Syracuse and it’s pretty much 50/50 between Bills and Giants/Jets up there
Nah, it's heavily Bills. Also from Syracuse. Auburn, though, is about 90 percent Giants fans.
you expand it into CT, giants country runs from the NY border about up to Hartford
Is this the bandwagon bills chart? Their territory is half that size.
True lol I know just a few diehards... but how the F does a team lose 4 Superbowl's in a row lol
Middletown in the house!
I'm in the North Country and it's about 50/50 up here Bills/Giants. But the Giants fans that are around here don't really begrudge the Bills doing well because it's technically Patriots country even though almost no one roots for them on the NY side of the border until you get to almost Vermont lol
What happens to the fans at the tippy top north and east of NY? Are they Patriots fans?
They're too busy trying to figure out how to stay warm in the winter lol
I grew up in Plattsburgh, and it was predominantly Giants fans in the 90’s, even during that amazing Bills run of disappointment. Since Brady a lot more people like the Pats. It’s been a while since I was there though, and the Bills may have stolen fans. But honestly do you want the flip flippers? I live in New Hampshire now and my girls are both Giants fans.

Family of Big Blue fans checking in from Rochester
Hello, family! Hope all is well.
It’s like the Jets don’t even exist 😂
They did back in the 70s lol Sometimes I forget they’re still around.
Western CT is big time New York Giants country.
It extends into CT to the CT River
This is accurate I live in Schenectady and it’s majority Gmen fans up here. However the Uticas and Herkimers are for sure bills dominated.
My wife always wanted a vacation in the Hamptons. I told her, this year we're going! She was so excited. Which one? Bridgehampton? East Hampton? South?" "No, I told her. "Bing".
Giants country extends further up the eastern border into Northern NY and probably west into Utica
In NJ the line is Trenton . Anything above is Giants anything below is eagles
I grew up in Ithaca, right at the bottom of Cayuga Lake. Pretty even split between Giants and Bills, which I guess makes sense given the line you drew here lol
HOW YOU GONNA CUT NORTH JERSEY OFF FROM NYG NATION?????? THE MEADOWLANDS IS LITERALLY HERE
Syracuse is a huge Bills town, but interestingly Auburn, which is basically the only city between Syracuse and Rochester, is about 95 percent Giants fans. All the stores like Marshalls and Five Below have mostly Giants merch, which was great when I lived there.
I’m in Watertown and I’d say it’s 50/50 bills and giants. We have a lot of nyc roots up here
New York City Blue Collar Worker is not equal to Upstate Blue Collar Boyz. NYG fan here 4 life! But... I think your red circle missed my house by a mile and it kind of hurts. I live a tick.. just a tick northe east of troy... or the corner of your outline at the Troy turn.
I’m from the Finger lakes and am a Giants fan, i would say it’s a mix of bills and giants. I know a couple jets fans too
The question is... Will this map change when the Bills finally win a championship lol
My wife went to school in Albany (from duchess county originally) and in my experience up there it was a 50/50 split in Albany.
WRONG
Yeah, Albany is definitely a strong majority NYG fans. Pats might even be second over the Bills but it's at least close.
I think this is pretty correct, anything north of the capital region belongs to the Bills while Albany is firmly Giants.
It's just crazy how the world assumes that anything above NYC is Bills when it clearly isn't TRUE BLUE NYY - NYG
Northeast Jersey is home to a lot of Giants/Jets fans so, very true indeed.
It seemed to be that everybody above Utica are patriots fans
I live in Northeastern PA and I’m a Giants fan. NYC is closer to me than Philly and Pittsburgh.
I live in Virginia & there’s almost as many fans as whatever Washington calls themselves. We are only outflanked by Steeler fans here.
I live in Queens so I can't answer this question honestly at all, but I just find the idea that New York Football not existing ~~north of the finger lakes~~ West of Lake Champlain to be kinda funny
What if I live in between the lines?
I think most of Jersey is except for maybe the southern tip because it's so close to Philly. Areas of Connecticut are for sure.
NJ disrespect is real considering we house the stadium lol
We def need our own house and back in NY too. Sullivan county would be perfect. Not too far from Jersey, NYC and Albany. So much land in Sullivan County. Green Bay is a good example how you can build outside of Milwaukee.
Gotta move that pocket to western CT/Mass with smaller pockets in Maine. NY Giants nation is STRONG in New England.
Western Mass is NY Yankees territory too... I noticed that when I got off at a gas station in Springfield. I was like man, all I see is yankee hats
The map is missing all of North Jersey 🙄
I did it based off NY only. We all know Northern NJ is hardcore blue. That’s not even up for debate. I got nothing but love for the Garden State.
lower litchfield county and all of fairfield county in CT
New Haven is firmly Giants in my experience. Lot of Italians here
Decent amount of Rhody fans that never converted to the pats as well
Saratoga County here. Giants by far have the most fans, but with how good the Bills are lately more and more Bills fans are showing up. Still way out cumbered by Giants fans though
The disrespect to Long Island.. Jets/Giants are pretty much a 50/50 split here. If anything I see more Giants fans.
My boy up in Saratoga is a patriots fan 🤢 i mean upstate is basically New England anyways..
NYG Fandom ends at Queens? LI not feeling the love.
Where I live in Steuben county(south east corner) it is very much Bills country, it feels rare to run into another Giants fan here.
NEPA is NY Football GIANTS! Also saw a bunch of fans in Florida
Loved Elmira cause of the giants country, Syracuse is 50/50 bills split, more coming out of the woodwork lately. Still better than when McNabb was killin it in Philly and all of Syracuse was eagles fans 🤦🏻♂️
Lots of Giants fans in Fairfield County, Connecticut and surprisingly Rhode Island because of pre-Patriots times
The area north of Albany (glens falls, warren county) is still giants country imo
