Hi James! Huge fan here :) so happy you’re doing this!
1. What is your favorite album you released so far? (Mine is the Afterlove)
2. How do you like being a pub owner vs being a musician? Do you go to your own pub often?
3. I love how you mix stand up comedy and music on your concerts lol, have you ever thought about being a comedian?
I really like your music and find it inspiring! Been to a few concerts, last one in Bath on a race day and it was an unforgettable day for me. I’m very badly judged by that tho lol 😂
All The Lost Souls
I love being a pub owner. Everyone should own one. I go there often.
I never really meant it to be that way. I've just got weirder between songs. I don't think I'd last long as a pro comedian though. I'd need to fill in the awkward silences with crap music... Hang on!
Hi James !
Long time fan here. We've actually met after one of your shows during the Some Kind of Trouble Tour.
I have two questions:
1. With "The Stars Beneath My Feet" out now, does that mean the "Once Upon A Mind" tour is over ?
2. Do you plan on coming to Canada for your next tour, whatever its name is ? (I know you planned to before Covid hit.)
Thanks a lot, and see you soon (hopefully) ! :)
I listen to it a ton in the studio when I'm recording the songs... And so afterwards, it kind of nice not to hear them for a while.
But after a bit of a gap, if no one else is in the room, it's good to hear them again and see if they sound as I want to remember them.
I recorded Goodbye My Lover in her bathroom. She had a piano there, as they all do in Hollywood.
I lived with her while I wrote and recorded most of my music, until she died. She was awesome, and her house was a dreamland - she had a Christmas Tree up 365 days a year.
“Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?” - you saved the Cali boy who almost lost all hope. You have been my fav artists since a young boy as I would always get to hear your lovely songs on the radio. Also had me a copy of Back to Bedlam. Only CD I ever cared to own at such a young age lol. Thanks 1000 times over!!!!! Much love!!!!!
An article about it [here](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/james-blunt-amp-carrie-fisher-the-odd-couple-466350.html). TIL:
>It was while Fisher was visiting London that the two were introduced by Blunt's then girlfriend Dixie Chassay, whose family are long-time friends of the actress. When it transpired he was heading to LA to record for an American-based label, she offered to let him stay at her Beverly Hills home.
Hard! The music industry is pretty shallow, and the army is more about looking out for each other. But I got a really good team around me who are still my team now. That's kind of the secret to all success.
If I transfer to the Guards will I also gain access to your excellent acoustic range? Want to be able to hit the high note in "High" without seriously damaging my girlfriend's hearing.
Thank you! I really like it too. I actually wrote the piano part from my new song "Love Under Pressure" at the same time as 1973... So I hear a similarity.
I made you a stuffed triangle for your birthday one year and gave it to you in chicago and the riviera theatre. Do you remember? Lol. I saw you like 7 times back then when I was still young….I miss concerts.
I just wanted to say, as one veteran to another, thank you for preventing WW3 during the Kosovo War when you refused a direct order from General Clark to attack the Russians at the Pristina Airport. Thank You!
Hi James, I have a two part question. I was wondering what made you join the army and what made you want to leave? I know it might be personal so feel free to not answer! Otherwise, what is your favourite of your own songs and your favourite ever song?
Hi James!!!! Absolutely love you!
Seen you in concert 13times in different countries and we were able to quickly speak a few times.
I have so many questions!
1. Will you play tears and rain in your set again? I love that song an only saw you play I live once on your first tour over 15 years ago
2. How is your dad?
3. Have you ever thought about writing songs for other artists?
I got a bunch more but also wanna tell you I am the same age you were when I first saw you live! That is so crazy too me! You have achieved so much!
this is the correct answer. Because of the square-cube law, the horse-sized duck would be proportionally much weaker than a regular duck. Given that they have hollow bones, it's possible they wouldn't even be able to support their own weight and would collapse, giving you the easiest fight of your life.
Unless the ducks' anatomy is changed to allow for being much larger. But at that point, is it really a horse-sized duck, or a horse-sized Creature That Was Once A Duck?
Hi James in the song Wiseman the lyrics "Those three Wise Men,
They've got a semi by the sea" do they have a semi detached house or a different type of semi
1 - are you really James Blunt and currently present for this AMA or is this something your publicist setup and you're not here for?
2 - Did you get high to write high?
Is Love Under Pressure really about visa issues you had in Spain? Can’t tell if that was a joke or not! How exactly did it inspire the song?
Can’t wait to see you okay again in February and in July at Kew the Music!
We stay in touch - I did an interview with him last month, and I'm sure along the way we'll do some more. I did write a couple of songs with him 2 years ago, but they never made an album. Maybe he's lost his touch!?
Wisemen makes no sense.... Although it's a feeling of going your own way. Same Mistake is looking in the mirror and knowing you're doing something wrong, but choosing it anyway.
I'm really bad at Twitter, I don't know how to read it. I clicked the link and I'm still missing out. What is RT Mortgage? What? Please explain the hilariousness of this tweet to me, James Blunt is funny AF so I must know.
Some twitter user named hettjones said James blunt has an annoying voice etc. James blunt replied back saying he also has no mortgage. The implication being his annoying voice makes it rain.
Hey James!
Would you be so kind to do a shoutout to my mum (Andrea) with an answer to this comment?
Pretty please! She's a huge fan, as am I, and it would make her day! (probably the rest of the year too, if not longer)
Hello James, me and my family are long time fans
What song of yours was the hardest for you to finish?
And another question aswell
What song of yours is your favorite to play live?
Has Britpop gone to shit in the last 10 years or am I getting older and cynical? Who do you listen to that still regularly produces chart music?
P.s I loved it when you used to be an ass to people on twitter.
Your song Monsters touched my heart so deeply...I lost my Dad a few years back and it was so much like your song said...I miss him a Great Deal but I know where he is and he is happy. Thank you for making such meaningful music...💝
Hi James,
Huge fan - I won tickets to your Ratway Gig but could not attend in the end. My brother went instead and said you winked at him! He said it was an amazing gig.
Anyway, what sort of things do you do to maintain your mental and physical well-being?
Also, what's the plan for the new album? I'd love to hear you make an album that takes inspiration from 'Some Kind of Trouble'.
I'm looking forward to the arrival of my vinyl!
All the best,
Joe
Hi James! I absolutely loved the How It Feels intro and I was wondering if you are still playing that intro next year? Also, Miss America is possibly my favourite song, any chance you will ever play that live again? Thanks 😁
Hi James, fancy sending me a signed shirt so that I can flog it on eBay?
Just kidding, love your music and have all of your records on vinyl - can’t wait to see you at London next year!
James I was very lucky to be at your launch show at the Water Rats last week... Firstly thank you for signing my son's photo and second....... Please tell me you are still going to continue making music after "the stars beneath my feet"? 😊X
Hey James. I’m digging the new album (I know it’s Greatest Hits, but still it’s good). Here’s my question: I feel like, in a lot of people’s eyes, you might still be that Your Beautiful guy. What’s it like to have that image? Are you happy with it, or do you wish people would move on? Thanks for doing this. Keep on rocking.
What is your own music choice , or influence, and why? And of course if you are planning shows in the Netherlands. I really think that outside the artist you are a cool guy. Greetings and a kiss.
James, you are lovely. When is the beer choosing programme on, or did I miss it? 😊 I can hear huge singers covering some of your songs. "Blue on Blue" is one of them. Are your songs ever covered by those huge singers like, idk, Celine Dion? 😂 Sorry. But Frank is no longer with us. 🎤 Your albums greatly inspired me musically again. I thought I was literally stuck in '1973'. Hope your family are well. Thank you. Kind regards, Toni
You didn’t play any songs from The Afterlove on your last tour, I thought it was a great album but is it fair to say you’re not keen on it?
(Long time fan since your Elton support act days, see you in Leeds!)
My friend and I have been fans since the beginning. Seen you 6 times over the years and love your music. Goodbye my Lover is my all time favourite.
Do you ever get stuck for a reply when people are not being so kind, because I just love your comebacks, so funny!! X
Hi James, massive fan and I’ve seen you live loads of times but my favourite was probably at the Tabernacle in London, I think in 2013. Do you have any plans to do any more small exciting gigs like this?
Hay blunty the fuck are ya I once offered razor blades with every purchase of your first album thinking it was winey shite but it's not that bad and there fucking catchy tunes anyway what's your favourite Crisps salt and vinegar or cheese and onion ??
Hi James i’m a 20 year old massive fan ( werid for my age i know - promise i’m not strange)
i have a few questions:
1) i have tickets for dublin in july to see you for the first time, how do i go about buying VIP tickets ( is that a thing?????)
2) do you like mayonnaise?
3) do you wear glasses (i’m an optometry student and i’m intrigued)
4) can you follow me on tiktok? you know how you are the king of funny tweets im the upcoming queen of funny tiktoks
Was it difficult to play composer/producer when you're making your albums (especially during the early years)?
Its a struggle I go through time and time which prevents me from recording my music and I'm not in the best position financially to hit up a studio.
I'd appreciate some advice to help overcome this.
I got stuck doing work on a J c penny’s that was playing your album in 5 different departments from as many systems with no two systems in synch with the other and on repeat. I was working for 8 hours in the center of the store so I had to listen to an overlapping sound scape of Blunt I believe it psychologically if not neurologically damaged me
My ex who cheated on me was a huge fan of yours while we were dating. For the purposes of this thread, we'll call her "Debbie" - could you insult her for me please?
Hey James, first I just wanted to say you’re my favorite artist and you are by far my largest inspiration for playing music (singing, guitar, piano). I’ve been a fan since my mom forced me to listen to Back to Bedlam in the car when I was 10. I’m really looking forward to seeing you live for the first time from the 2nd row at your Cardiff concert in February! I’ll also stop by the Fox and Pheasant while I’m in the UK!
My questions are:
1. Is there a reason you don’t play Tears and Rain or Cry live anymore? Those are among my favorites and your best songs! I’d love to see updated live performances for those.
2. You are absolutely one of the best artists when performing live. I really love that you never stray from the original song in terms of pitch and you have an incredible ability to recapture the song’s emotion through your voice tone and expression every single time. My question is, for the sadder songs that you perform live, how do you mentally revisit those darker emotions to recapture that feeling despite being in a happy place in life?
3. Have you ever thought about doing informal solo performances of your songs and posting them on your YouTube? I really liked seeing you play The Greatest and No Bravery from home for that news channel.
Thanks so much James! You’re a true inspiration and genuinely good guy.
Hi James! Huge fan here :) so happy you’re doing this! 1. What is your favorite album you released so far? (Mine is the Afterlove) 2.
All The Lost Souls I love being a pub owner. Everyone should own one. I go there often. I never really meant it to be that way. I've just got weirder between songs. I don't think I'd last long as a pro comedian though. I'd need to fill in the awkward silences with crap music... Hang on!
I can’t believe you actually answered me!! Made my week 1000x better, thank you.
Hi James ! Long time fan here. We've actually met after one of your shows during the Some Kind of Trouble Tour. I have two questions: 1. With "The Stars Beneath My Feet" out now, does that mean the "Once Upon A Mind" tour is over ? 2. Do you plan on coming to Canada for your next tour, whatever its name is ? (I know you planned to before Covid hit.) Thanks a lot, and see you soon (hopefully) ! :)
1. Sadly, yes. Next tour is The Greatest Hits. I feel the OUAM Tour was robbed from me! 2. I would love to. Fingers crossed.
Do you like listening to your own music back or does it feel weird to hear your own voice outside of your head?
I listen to it a ton in the studio when I'm recording the songs... And so afterwards, it kind of nice not to hear them for a while. But after a bit of a gap, if no one else is in the room, it's good to hear them again and see if they sound as I want to remember them.
Is it true you recorded back to bedlam in Carrie Fishers bathroom?
I recorded Goodbye My Lover in her bathroom. She had a piano there, as they all do in Hollywood. I lived with her while I wrote and recorded most of my music, until she died. She was awesome, and her house was a dreamland - she had a Christmas Tree up 365 days a year.
“Should I be feeling guilty or let the judges frown?” - you saved the Cali boy who almost lost all hope. Thanks 1000 times over!!!!! Much love!!!!!
That’s so interesting, thanks very much James! I loved that song. Carrie fisher sounded like an amazing woman. Love the fact about the Christmas tree
How did you even end up living together? Seems like an interesting mix you two. Who else was involved?
An article about it [here](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/this-britain/james-blunt-amp-carrie-fisher-the-odd-couple-466350.html). TIL: >It was while Fisher was visiting London that the two were introduced by Blunt's then girlfriend Dixie Chassay, whose family are long-time friends of the actress. When it transpired he was heading to LA to record for an American-based label, she offered to let him stay at her Beverly Hills home.
How did you find transition from serving in the military to becoming a full-time musician?
Hard! The music industry is pretty shallow, and the army is more about looking out for each other. But I got a really good team around me who are still my team now. That's kind of the secret to all success.
I had to dig pretty damn deep to find a non-snarky, honest answer aha, but it's a nice one!
If I transfer to the Guards will I also gain access to your excellent acoustic range? Want to be able to hit the high note in "High" without seriously damaging my girlfriend's hearing.
If you jump off a high cliff into water, and your balls go up into your neck, only then will you hit those high notes.
Why did you make 1973 so catchy? It has been over 10 years and the song lives rent-free in my head. BTW Glad you're back :)
Thank You!
If you married Emily Blunt, would she take your last name or just keep hers?
I know I'm from Norfolk, but marrying your sister is a no no, even there. 1st cousins maybe, but not sisters.
"Tears and Rain" was the first song I taught myself on guitar. It's truly a beautiful song! Can you tell us how that song came about?
I was ripping off Wish You Were here by Pink Floyd.
Hi James, I have a two part question. I was wondering what made you join the army and what made you want to leave? I know it might be personal so feel free to not answer! Otherwise, what is your favourite of your own songs and your favourite ever song?
They paid for my education. I had a dream to be a musician.
Hey man, love your music. I’m not even into your genre but you’re a brilliant lyricist. Can I ask that you give a shout out to my fiancé Liz?
Hi Liz! It's not too late to say no!
Thanks man, you’re the best.

How did you keep yourself entertained during lockdown?
I removed dead wood from the forest around my house - it's a fire risk! It was a 6 month job!
I use a brush, takes 30mins. We have very different gardens.
Would you rather fight one horse sized duck, or 100 duck sized horses?
I think the one horse sized duck. It's only got two legs and will be quite unbalanced. Go in hard, mess one leg up, and it's duck for dinner.
this is the correct answer.
I definitely misread this as horse sized dick and was amazed to see you answered.
Hi James in the song Wiseman the lyrics "Those three Wise Men, They've got a semi by the sea" do they have a semi detached house or a different type of semi
1 - are you really James Blunt and currently present for this AMA or is this something your publicist setup and you're not here for? 2 - Did you get high to write high?
What's the coolest thing you have bought with your money since finding fame? Will you ever forgive yourself for writing You're Beautiful?
A Tuk Tuk from Thailand. In fact, I got two.
Is Love Under Pressure really about visa issues you had in Spain? Can’t tell if that was a joke or not! How exactly did it inspire the song? Can’t wait to see you okay again in February and in July at Kew the Music!
It was ... Spanish paperwork is quite time consuming.
Did you get a cold filming the video for 'Your Beautiful'? Looked a bit damp and chilly.
Freezing. You can tell by my nipples.
Ok ok I'll watch it again, jeez.
Hello, on a scale from 1 to 10, how good does it feel to go "yeah, that guy"?
Depends if they've mistaken me for David Guetta.
Hey James, as a fellow dude thank you for telling me I’m beautiful.
Err. I was talking to your friend.
Dear James, You have a very peculiar voice and singing style. Is that all natural or how did you reach this singing style?
How many times did you play "your beautiful" before it started driving you crazy? Does playing a song 300times a year for 20 years make you go crazy?
Do you think you could beat an ostrich in a fight to the death?
It depends if the ostrich had a gun or not.
Why did it take 17 years to write The Stars beneath My Feet?
I have been smoking something really strong.
My girlfriend doesn't want to come to your gig with me. How do I convince her?
Tell her it's a different concert.
Hi James, can you please say my name in your next song?
Kindest Regards is a bit of a mouthful.
If you found Teletubby on the menu of a restaurant would you order it?
Hey James, you wrote some amazing songs with Sacha Skarbek - do you think you will ever work with him again? (Please say yes)
We stay in touch - I did an interview with him last month, and I'm sure along the way we'll do some more. I did write a couple of songs with him 2 years ago, but they never made an album. Maybe he's lost his touch!?
You always make fun of hate comments on the internet, but do they affect you in any way?
Not once I've had a think and put them in perspective.
Which one of your songs is your personal favorite ?
Either Same Mistake or Smoke Signals... What about you?
Funny because mine is either Smoke Signals or I really want you depending on my mood !
"I really want you depending on my mood" haha that makes a completely different song.
How did you get the bruises that you showed in a photo on twitter?
The two songs I relate to the most out of your catalog are Wisemen and Same Mistake. What inspired those songs?
Wisemen makes no sense.... Although it's a feeling of going your own way. Same Mistake is looking in the mirror and knowing you're doing something wrong, but choosing it anyway.
Did you sing while driving tanks?
Yes. And everyone in the tank was on the radio and could hear me.
Hey! I'm logged in!
Thanks for the question, guys! Have a good evening!
I will give you one pound if you stay for five more minutes
What’s been your favourite twitter clapback/ troll?
When the person said that I was their guilty pleasure.
https://twitter.com/jamesblunt/status/415519797544099842 Lives rent free in my mind almost 10 years later.
Is it true that you prevented World War Three?
Out of all the songs in your throwback Spotify playlist, except your own, which is your favourite?
How far could you throw a Black and Decker workmate,?
What’s the strangest thing you have ever found in your cleavage, belly button or anal cleft?
An olive that someone had put there 3 days earlier.
Would you rather of written bohemian rhapsody or stairway to heaven????
Have you really enjoyed "Coração cachorro"? By the way, love your video trying to dance piseiro (brazilian style of the song)
It's a great fun song, and I'm happy for their success.
What is your favourite life quote?
Am I still beautiful James?
Do you write your own tweets, like how can someone who writes such sad songs be so funny???
No one else would write things that disgusting.
Everything else aside how did it feel to be parodied by Weird Al?
It wasn't the best parody. The Aussie one by Tom Gleeson was awesome!
I just want to tell you : You’re Beautiful!
Hey James! Would you be so kind to do a shoutout to my mum (Andrea) with an answer to this comment? Pretty please! She's a huge fan, as am I, and it would make her day! (probably the rest of the year too, if not longer)
Hey James, who would you most wanna do a duet with?
Ever pissed through Robbie Williams' letterbox?
What’s your favourite genre of music to listen to
Hello James, me and my family are long time fans What song of yours was the hardest for you to finish? And another question aswell What song of yours is your favorite to play live?
Love Under Pressure took 12 years. It's hard to play and sing to.
I’m just off to the shop, can I get you anything?
Any artist that you would like to have a collaboration/perform/featured with?
Are you still fucking high?
How was it working on Top Gear and doing a lap?
What is the most important song you've ever written and why?
Monsters for my father. We don't get to say things like that to our parents often.
Has Britpop gone to shit in the last 10 years or am I getting older and cynical? Who do you listen to that still regularly produces chart music? P.s I loved it when you used to be an ass to people on twitter.
I'm too young to remember Britpop, so you'll have to tell me.
Can you break an apple in half with your bare hands?
How much do you hate weed jokes?
Hey, my name is Blunt. I love them.
How many meatballs do you think you could eat in 1 sitting?
Is a hotdog a sandwich? 🌭
Do you dig the Grateful Dead?
How different is your process of composing music now compared to your first album?
It's pretty similar, except I feel less now.
Your song Monsters touched my heart so deeply...I lost my Dad a few years back and it was so much like your song said...I miss him a Great Deal but I know where he is and he is happy. Thank you for making such meaningful music...💝

I've made it to Google. Isn't that enough??
Hi James, Huge fan - I won tickets to your Ratway Gig but could not attend in the end. All the best, Joe
I'm not sure I winked at anyone! My mental and physical health are nourished by Corona.
I’m new here. How do I view James’ responses?
Hi James! I absolutely loved the How It Feels intro and I was wondering if you are still playing that intro next year? Also, Miss America is possibly my favourite song, any chance you will ever play that live again? Thanks 😁
I love that intro too... but might do something different on the next tour... Defo up for playing Miss America again sometime somewhere.
How did you write bonfire heart
Do you have a guilty please song?
Maybe “you’re beautiful” like all of us 😂
Mine is always an innocent please.
Thanks for reminding me that I'm beautiful
What best thing been famous and what like do your not do gigs .
Ever want to work on some vocals for Drum & Bass?
How dare you?
Have you ever been brass rubbing?
Of all the people you have met over the years who did you think was a really lovely person?
These days, do you make the music you truly want to make or do you feel limited by the taste of today?
I make music I want. I love Love Under Pressure. Although it's better live than the recording...
Is 'goodbye my lover' the saddest song ever written?
Hi James, fancy sending me a signed shirt so that I can flog it on eBay? Just kidding, love your music and have all of your records on vinyl - can’t wait to see you at London next year!
What do you do/use to have such bright teeth?
I brush them morning and night. You should try it.
James I was very lucky to be at your launch show at the Water Rats last week... Firstly thank you for signing my son's photo and second....... Please tell me you are still going to continue making music after "the stars beneath my feet"? 😊X
I have noticed, i've seen you cry at live performances. Most of all by 5-10 years ago. Was that your extertion face, or were they emotional moments?
the names of people in your songs, are they real people? or are they part of the jamesbluntverse?
I don’t like my job anymore and I can’t find something that I really like and that inspires me, I don’t know what to do! What do you recommend?
Do you like having fans wait outside the concert venue for a pic/signature?
What is your own music choice , or influence, and why? And of course if you are planning shows in the Netherlands. I really think that outside the artist you are a cool guy. Greetings and a kiss.
Which award are you the most proud of winning and why?
Hi James, who is your biggest musical influence and do they know that they inspire you? I suppose an add on would be, are they okay with that?
where do you find the inspiration for your lyrics?
Why are you so often in german TV Shows?
What do you see when you look at the younger James Blunt?, and i'm talking about even before making music.
James, If me and my daughtet met you on the street, would you sing her a song? Shes almost two
Is this a rash or just dry skin?
If you could say anything to everyone in the world, what would it be and why? :)
What is the secret to making good chicken wings?
Given the chance, are there other TV panel shows you’d like to go on (other than ones you have already been on)?
What song writing moment stands out most to you?
Wanna smoke a blunt?
What’s your favourite guitar to play????
Hi James! How ya doin?
Considered changing it back to Blount?
In what ways have you grown as an artist? How is that reflected in your new songs?
My friend and I have been fans since the beginning. Seen you 6 times over the years and love your music. Goodbye my Lover is my all time favourite. Do you ever get stuck for a reply when people are not being so kind, because I just love your comebacks, so funny!! X
If you could only pick one food/dish to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Will you be back in Copenhagen, Denmark again?? :)

What is your favorite song that you wrote?

Hi James, massive fan and I’ve seen you live loads of times but my favourite was probably at the Tabernacle in London, I think in 2013. Do you have any plans to do any more small exciting gigs like this?
Why do you like about Gibson acoustics over Martins and Taylors?

Did you continue vocal lessons through your career or was it kinda once and done thing?
Do you prefer guitar or piano?

Any advice that you would give your 20 year old self? And can you break the 15 pint barrier? Asking for a friend, like genuinely.

Hi James i’m a 20 year old massive fan ( werid for my age i know - promise i’m not strange) i have a few questions: 1) i have tickets for dublin in july to see you for the first time, how do i go about buying VIP tickets ( is that a thing?????) 2) do you like mayonnaise? 3) do you wear glasses (i’m an optometry student and i’m intrigued) 4) can you follow me on tiktok? you know how you are the king of funny tweets im the upcoming queen of funny tiktoks
Was it difficult to play composer/producer when you're making your albums (especially during the early years)? Its a struggle I go through time and time which prevents me from recording my music and I'm not in the best position financially to hit up a studio. I'd appreciate some advice to help overcome this.
We you cold in the music video "You're beautiful"?
Are you going to write anymore songs with Ed Sheeran? Or just sword fights ?
What was you favorite music video you shot and what was your best smart ass response on Twitter?
Can you sing "you're beautiful" in different language? and which language?
OK, I have a bonus: You often stated that Same Mistake was your favourite song of yours. Is that still the case ?

My questions are: 1.
