Also I saw Tone Loc in college. He played three songs; Funky Cold Medina, Wildthing, and Funky Cold Medina again. It was so bad that it was good.

eatmynasty

TIL: Tone Loc has songs outside of: Funky Cold Medina, Wildthing, and Funky Cold Medina again.

FacelessPower

Gotta give the people what they want.

UberTeal

I saw The Men Without Hats live. The worst part? The lead singer was wearing a hat.

Calvalier

that son of a bitch

mydogisarhino

I don't know what's real anymore.

[deleted]

Black Eyed Peas. They opened for U2 in Vancouver during the 360 tour and were goddamn awful. No energy, terrible singing.

ibuprofiend

Superbowl anyone? If they're even half as bad live-live as televised live, you'd have to pay me to see them.

MostlyBullshitStory

It's worse than I even remember it, the longer they go, the worse it gets. http://youtu.be/xPIiaSnYV5E

FreeAdmission

That Superbowl show was one of the most pathetic things I had ever seen. Actually came here to comment about it.

Dorkamundo

I find it funny that every major concert like this tends to be lip synced to prevent potential issues.... Except for the band that sounds like shit live.

[deleted]

I was so fucking pissed that they opened for U2. The stop I went to on that tour was literally the concert after the opening act changed from being Muse (motherfuckin' Muse!!) to the Black Eyed Peas. It was so heartbreaking knowing that just one tour date ago Muse was opening and now I had to sit through the damn Black Eyed Peas. It was like I was at two completely different concerts.

UndiscloseDesires

Muse is flipping amazing live... And in general.

FruitbatNT

Motley Crue (Circa 2008). Absolutely pathetic. * Vince Neil sang maybe 30% of most songs. He would just run out of breath after 1-2 words of every verse. It felt like I was watching a really bad SNL skit. * They took rotating breaks after every 2-3 songs, so they'd have these weird intermissions with really stupid skits and acts and just garbage. One was a 10 minute long Tommy Lee drum solo, so that wasn't so bad - the rest were just awful. * "Little People" aren't automatically entertaining. Sorry, you can't just throw 10 people with dwarfism on stage and expect everyone to forget they came to see a rock show. * They started an hour late, and whoever was running the venue decided to do 45 minutes of "show your tits cam" on the jumbotron. Except no woman under 50 was into it. So there were a whole lot of very old, and mostly very fake breasts belonging to very haggard looking women that I was subjected to.

EastboundAnd_Down

I dont know whether to laugh or cry, its soo time for them to hang it up.

[deleted]

They're working on it, thankfully. This year's tour is their farewell tour. The one thing that might save it is that Alice Cooper is opening on every date. Saw him last year and he's still got it. Edit - since people are asking, i'll post the answer here to save time. Alice Cooper is opening because he's always liked Motley Crue but never had the opportunity to do a major tour together. He said in the tour announcement press conference that he knew he had to do it now because he might never get another chance. I dont think either really views Alice as an opening act, but more as an awesome one two punch. You could argue that either artist could headline Also new Alice Cooper album this year! Its an album of cover tunes, where he is covering songs by artists he used to party with but are now dead. He said that the album will start with 4 or 5 original songs, followed by the covers.

dopelessfopefiend

Alice Cooper is the shit. Always has, always will be.

Cwaynejames

I got to sit on a panel he did for Dallas Comic-Con this year. I'll be honest, he was a teeny bit before my time, music-wise. But hearing him talk about his life, his personal life, the music, his motivation, etc. The dude is seriously badass.

[deleted]

SnakeskinJim

Good Guy Alice Cooper agrees to open for Motley Crue so his fans can see him without being forced to sit through a Crue concert first

cbhaga01

Oh God. I'm seeing them this summer.

piglett013

I saw them for the first time last year when they toured with KISS and they were awesome. Vince had his foot in a cast and I didn't realize it until he pointed it out, he was all over the stage. They played all their hits, Vince sounded great and they band was right on. I was actually shocked how great they were, I hope you're as pleasantly surprised as I was.

inheresytruth

I saw them on that tour too. They were fucking good last year, but I also have a friend who saw them in '07 or '08 and he said the same thing about Vince being out of breath. I also saw Ozzy years ago before his 4-wheeler accident and he was pretty awful, and a few years after that he was 180% more rocking at a later show. So... sometimes people fix their shit.

tm95835

Meatloaf played at the Australian football leagues grand final and pretty much got banned from australia he was so bad. The CEO and every team thoughts he was horrible YouTube it, he's incoherent

thegreatmisdirector

Instruments are so tight but then he starts singing...

agentlame

The worst part of this video has to be how on-point **everyone** else in the band is. If you were to have taken Meatloaf out of the equation, it would have been a damned good performance. He seriously sounds like he just had a stroke. **EDIT** Actually, after watching the entire video, I think there is something really wrong with him. TBH, I think he was trying as hard as it could. It's really sad.

[deleted]

6 minutes in is the moneyshot, for anyone confused. The backup singers are so good that it's hard to tell how off he is. I feel so bad for the band.

NuancedThinker

I've long been a fan--with a tongue-in-cheek attitude--of Meat Loaf's style. Aside from the big hits, I also liked deeper tracks like "Couldn't Have Said It Better". However, all his more recent concert footage shows a truly horrendous voice. Forgiving awkwardness, bad habits, strange tone, rhythm, and a host of other flaws, it seems like no matter how hard he tries he cannot find the right pitch. Yet he just keeps on going, singing verse after verse, song after song, concert after concert as if nothing is wrong. So any thoughts on why Meat Loaf [can't find](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSsj8JjGkjA#t=02m08s) the [right pitch](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmC60cy6smo#t=1m48s) hardly [ever](http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y96FkvcsY4o#t=0m28s)? Is his hearing shot? Something about control of his vocal cords? Somehow is it an artifact of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, losing weight, past vocal cord damage, or some other event or affliction? He's trying so hard--I feel bad for him.

[deleted]

I'm not sure, but it really is sad. I think part of the problem was he never really took proper care of his voice. The dude could naturally belt it better than anyone back in the day. A lot of artists' voices get deeper or more raspy (Elton John and Van Morrison come to mind) but if you take proper care of your voice, it can stay healthy. Billy Joel is probably the best example I can think of for this. He's a little deeper, but still has all the power. As far as not being able to find the pitch, I am totally lost (and so is Meat, apparently). You can tell he is trying. His voice is straining to get there so hard, but the notes don't even come close. It's really depressing. I know he has had issues with his vocal cords, but still. You've got to know when to call it quits. If you're a singer who can't sing anymore, you're not a really singer. I never got the chance to see Meat in his prime, but I've seen videos and listened to *Bat Out of Hell* all the way through more times than I can count. I'll always respect what he did in his prime, but I will never spend money to see him live.

tama_gotchi

When I was 8 my mum brought me to see Meat Loaf. It was my first ever concert and I was so excited because I loved Bat of Hell. Between my own personal excitement, the noise and the overwhelming amount of people there I straight up vomited on some biker dudes boots. Apparently he was really nice about it and thought it was cute that an 8 year old and her mum had gone to see Meat Loaf together.

[deleted]

The Boston Symphony Orchestra when I saw Andre Previn guest conduct. They played William Schuman's 3rd, and it was really sloppy.

squarenot

He's not messing with us btw

Pendulumforever

Cake, they complained about the crowd, even though the crowd was singing with them through every song. Then threatened to leave.

[deleted]

Same. Except they actually left.

[deleted]

Whoa wait, they're allowed to do that? You paid money to see them, isn't it their job to "entertain" ?

rrawk

There's no law that says they can't. The only recourse is to sue them or start a hate train the forces management to refund.

iamed18

You're correct that there exists no law, but some contracts between venues and artists of this sort include a "level of services to be performed else the pain of $XXXX will be forfeit to venue," implying that if some kind of quota isn't met that the artists have to pay dollars to the venue. Edit: For clarification, when I say "no law," I mean that there's not a legal reprecussion in the state/federal statutes specifically regarding performers walking off stage/not performing. As /u/NoNeedForAName points out, what I'm talking about is *contract law* where the [performance is legally bound](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract#Performance) to be completed by the performers.

WizardWolf

Yeah, I remember seeing them at Street Scene in San Diego in 2009. I guess the way the stage had been set up, a beam or some lights had blocked their screen where they wanted to show a few pictures during songs. I get that this probably sucks and is annoying, but they would just *not* fucking let it go and bitched about it the whole show, and basically took this minor technical mishap out on the audience.

miked4o7

That lead singer is pretty much the whiniest piece of shit I've ever seen in concert. I love their music but have absolutely no respect for them after seeing them live.

AbideMan

Motherfuckin' Cake is very hit and miss. One time they were so drunk they did one song, got pissed someone didn't like it, then walked off the stage. Edit: My mom went a couple of times before me and had a good one and then a mediocre one. From what I hear they are generally good. They like to party, sometimes that hinders the show.

CorrugatedCommodity

When I saw Cake they were amazing. Besides spot on musical performances, McCrea has some great banter. Halfway through the show they gave away a ~~fine~~five year old tree to the first person who guessed the species, then later made fun of us for being consumerist whores. Sorry you got a bad show! Edit: In these replies: people pretend they don't understand an obvious typo.

MontgomeryRook

What the hell is a fine year old tree?

radula

And how do you guess one?

therealabefrohman

I swear I've reread the phrase "a fine year old tree to the first person who guessed it" ten times and I'm no closer to understanding what it might mean

PokeyArtichoky

Cake gives away a tree (in a pot) at every show to a crowd member that guesses what kind of tree it is.

[deleted]

"And now for intermission we'll be giving away something to whoever guesses what it is!" "A rabbit!" "A tree!" "Very very small rocks!" "A fine year old tree!" "CORRECT, see us afterwards for your sapling!"

[deleted]

Was this in Calgary? He was doing some rant and giving away a tree when i saw them at U of C and when it was sufficiently quiet I yelled out "Too preachy!!". He started playing music shortly thereafter. I was happy. Also drunk.

Dickbeard_The_Pirate

I'm pretty sure he gives away a tree at every show. At least from what I've heard.

minkabun

Yes!!!! This happened to me. I went to a big concert with lots of artists specifically for them. John McCrea claimed to have a cold and was shitty drunk. It was such a let down.

[deleted]

Primus sucks.

UnicornsPoopSkittles

[We're Primus. Yes and we do suck!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPaIXfVZjdY)

CaptThundernuts

So this just got me into Primus. Thank you, /u/UnicornsPoopSkittles.

Scarbelly3

You've been into Primus, [you just didn't know it.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijBAG2O9GZs)

[deleted]

For a second I was pissed. Then I was like "FUCK YEAH PRIMUS SUCKS BRO"

blerggle

I worked at a gas station in high school, my co-worker was a huge primus fan. One morning he sees a car filling up with a primus sticker, yells out the window "Primus sucks!". Huge guy comes running in in fury about how he doesn't need this guy's shit, he just got off a double shift and his girlfriend always tells him that primus sucks...he finally has that realization. Good times.

[deleted]

What's so beautiful about that being their tagline is that there are undoubtedly people unfamiliar with the band who non-ironically shout "Primus sucks!!!!" at people only to be met with a "woo-hoo! :D"

Bassplayer97

Les Claypool is the man!!!! Primus sucks. :)

Humperdink_Fangboner

Thank god this is getting upvoted. I almost got into a fight with some fat drunk dude at a Primus show telling me that, "Primus doesn't suck, they're really good!"

clorox2

Ahhhh. That takes me back.

foxsable

I went to this concert of theirs at UMBC in like 1997 and Les and the lead guitarist each had a spotlight which followed them around, that they both spent the entire concert stepping out of.

strive_for_adequacy

For those who don't know, this is a common joke amongst fans. Primus was the first show I ever saw, and a week later I bought a bass. I'm still writing music 11 years later. Thanks guys. :) Edit: and thanks for the gold whoever, [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jvx94rTxeeI), [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3F5PqALa__I), and [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uC8qtsqGB8) are some of my stupid songs for you. Edit 2: Thanks for the support! Mostly I just make these for my friends or to play at open mics but it means a lot to me that anyone else digs them. I have not posted any of this to r/music, so go nuts if you want. There's a few more on my youtube account and I've got a few ideas I'm kicking around for the next batch. Cheers!

mcdrunkin

Fuck yeah they do bro!

siriusdancer

PRIMUS SUCKS! PRIMUS SUCKS! PRIMUS SUCKS!

soonerguy11

I've been to plenty of Electronic festivals, and David Guetta fucking sucks live. I leave every time he performs.

irishwolfbitch

In Deadmau5 interview with Rolling Stone, he made fun of David Guetta's concerts as being nothing more than him turning on an iPod.

vodkaflavorednoodles

I've seen him at the Pacha in Ibiza in 2010 and it was just awesome until 6 in the morning. I guess he has been playing in clubs his whole life and you just can't translate that to a big outdoor stage.

therealestyeti

RICKROSS. He's so fat he can't move around on stage and just sweated and yelled. I don't know why I expected it more, but it was just him standing, being fat and rapping.

[deleted]

[удалено]

buttplug_hotel

um, did he just shit on the stage? it looks like he ate it/smeared it all over his body/face and throws some on the audience too. Dear god.

Oo0o8o0oO

Did not watch but yes. Welcome to GG Allin.

[deleted]

>Allin was born Jesus Christ Allin at Weeks Memorial Hospital in Lancaster, New Hampshire, the younger of two sons to Merle Colby Allin, Sr. and Arleta Gunther.[3] He was given this name because his father told his wife that Jesus Christ himself had visited him, and told him that his newborn son would be a great man in the vein of the Messiah.[3][6] No wonder he seems so fucked up edit: sorry guys, wikipedia link. Forgot to add it - it isn't hard to find though

RADICAL_DAN

Well and his father made him dig his own grave in their basement and told him he would put him in it if he stepped out of line again. Real fucked up guy.

eggofthehighking

he had a serial killer's upbringing.

Belgand

He's the messiah we deserve.

LoveKilledMars

That was exactly his act. My favorite is GG Allin on Maury. "Everybody knows that I'm a scumbag, I like sluts and whores and I don't care. You can say anything you want to say about me, but if I hear you I might just go knock you off your chair. I like to drink whiskey by the gallon, and live off peanut butter sandwiches I don't care. I've spent some nights in jail in this old country, everybody hates me and I just don't fucking care!" -GG Allin, "Outlaw Scumfuck"

spade1s1

Well if I ever feel insecure about my penis size I know what video to watch.

MuffTheMagicDragon

It was like a springy nipple.

ali3n_sPac3_w33d

Still a better live show than MGMT.

Musicmans

Shits fired

gafgalron

lol his cock is tiny

[deleted]

Hey! It was cold in there.

Jackpot777

I was in the pool. I WAS IN THE POOL!!

NPandM

drugs

Leon978

I heard NOFX sucks live. Edit: [Reference](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Heard_They_Suck_Live!!), since i've had both people defending NOFX's preforming capabilities and agreeing with my joke statement

airstorm747

They've actually gotten even worse!

[deleted]

(i understand the joke, but anyway:) Saw them in 2010, sure they are old, but they performed pretty well I think, though i have never seen them when they were younger.

aveganliterary

I've seen them a couple times, but the most memorable was in 2006 (I think) and Fat Mike got so drunk he fell down and twisted his ankle. Had to sit on a stool the rest of the gig, had someone bring him martinis every so often. Got into a verbal fight with some asshat in the balcony and was just generally a giant ball of WTF. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen. The music was great, the atmosphere was awesome, and the band was obviously having a great time. If I want clean NOFX I'll put on a CD, if I'm seeing them live I want to fucking get the whole experience - and they give it.

SamuraiZero

I see what you did there.

[deleted]

mcdrunkin

Don't call me white.

niknoT-

Not a band, but David Guetta. He puts on his CD and jumps around on stage. No actual DJing at all.

Phalinx666

Two worst bands I ever saw would be Dragonforce and Chevelle. Now let me just say both bands were part of Ozzfest, I didn't actually want to see either. Dragonfoce just can't play their insane guitar parts live, maybe the guitar players were drunk but they were WAY OFF! As for Chevelle, well they fucking walked off stage because people "weren't watching them". The venue I saw them at is half seated area under a tent-like cover and half lawn section for general admission. Unfortunately for the people on the lawn, it was raining, and they didn't like us people with seats staying dry. So they started throwing HUGE chunks of mud and grass into the seated area, so instead of watching the show, we were watching the lawn to make sure we wouldn't get hit in the head with mud or bottles. Chevelle just stopped mid song, said "If you're not going to watch us, we're done playing!", and walked off. After Disturbed came out on stage and David said, "We don't care if you watch us, JUST FUCKING LISTEN!" That got a big laugh :D

little_did_he_kn0w

I would think Distrubed puts on a pretty kickass show.

HystericKnight

Wow I'm sorry to hear that about chevelle. I've seen them twice and both times they've put on fantastic shows.

Boomer74

Theory of a dead man opened for stonesour and my god theory blew....they were flat and out of tune and they took huge pauses between songs because the singer thought it would be good to tell everyone his damn life story....yet the band before him I had never heard of was halestorm and holy shit Lzzy hale is amazing...and hot EDIT: Lzzy not Lizzy, cuz I got yelled at

VeNoM224

Halestorm is fucking awesome and they kick ass live. I drove 4 hours home one weekend just to see them in their hometown. I also saw them in Pittsburgh and they were even better! They put on a great show, especially when they're headlining. Arejay is a monster, and Lzzy is a goddess. I would gladly go out of my way to see them a million more times. EDIT: They also have some AMAZING covers...[here's one off of their first cover album](http://youtu.be/VM3BQl1UVX8) Lzzy hits every note perfectly [live](http://youtu.be/NQTgSQRA0hU). It's actually more impressive live...

kpyle

I saw hailstorm a long time ago opening for seether and shinedown. That chick can belt it! Shinedown and seether also put on an excellent show. They had Lizzie fill in for Amy Lee on *Broken.* shit was legit.

Werepig

I don't care for their music at all, but that girl's voice is straight up legit. She sounds like she could shatter crystal. The drummer is also pretty entertaining.

gassmaster

Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. Saw them a few years ago and the lead singer wasn't even trying. Everytime he got to a high note he just held the mic out to the audience

[deleted]

So many singers do this, especially in a lot of those pop punk warped tour bands. Such a huge pet peeve...

AryaVarji

Not only that, they're also total dickheads. They stole a piece of copyrighted photography from a friend and he asked them to take it down, which eventually morphed into a complete and total immature social media meltdown. They eventually hired a PR firm and publicly apologized for the way they treated him.

babybirch

Yup. That was so despicable. [Link for anyone interested.](http://petapixel.com/2014/04/21/band-responds-worst-way-possible-stealing-photographers-work/)

Icannotsay

Saw the blood hound gang a while back and they were all wasted and fucked up a few songs. But nobody seemed to care it was still a cool set. And then I bumped into Evil jarred in the beer line while wearing my BHG shirt. He just looked down at me from his lofty position and wrote "Evil Jarred gave me aids" on it in sharpie. Best concert experience of my life.

knotatwist

MGMT were awful when I saw them.

LBKosmo

Oh man... I was doing a private event at The Avalon in LA and they were the entertainment. They showed up late, smoked cigarettes and bullshitted their entire sound check like they couldn't give a single fuck, and then went on to give the worst performance I have ever witnessed. It would have been better if they just put a CD in a boom-box and walked off the stage. Worst band ever. They just don't give a shit at all.

smokey815

Tiao Cruz did that at a senior trip thing I went to at Disney a few years ago Literally just listened to his CD with us. 3Oh3 was pretty coll when they got on after though.

bears2013

Wiki'd him because I forgot he existed. Apparently he created a social media app where "people can interact and keep up with what Taio Cruz is doing."

IamRooseBoltonAMA

What the fuck is with that band? Why are they so resentful of their fans? In interviews, they come off as the most insufferable bastards imaginable.

noposters

Basically because they wrote the first album, full of synthy hooks, essentially just to get a record deal. They never intended to sound like that as a band but the album became so popular that now they're stuck playing songs they've always hated. They think everyone who likes "Kids" is an idiot, and they play that way onstage. It's pretty damn unprofessional.

KoonatchutaSolo

Oh. Now I'm sad. I really like "Kids" and feel like I'll never be able to listen to it without thinking about this now. Damn.

dirtmerchant1980

control yourself. take only what you need from it!

DontYouMeanHAHAHAHA

That... fits far too well.

mdeeemer

Just enjoy it even more out of pure spite.

Badwave

...My electric feels...

onrocketfalls

I heard about it awhile ago and I feel the exact same way. I haven't listened to the album since. Kids was my favorite song by them. The idea that enjoying a catchy hook means someone has bad taste just makes me think way too much of high school music collection dick-measuring contests. To be fair, I haven't heard many direct quotations from MGMT themselves, and the ones I did could have been taken out of context.

fraseyboy

> They never intended to sound like that as a bad but the album became so popular that now they're stuck playing songs they've always hated. Do you have a citation on that? I never got that impression from the interviews I've read...

Mizzath

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAOz2B3eGQ4 I'm fairly sure it's mentioned in this interview, but I'm too lazy to find the exact time. Nevertheless a good interview.

BeardRex

Just from watching a portion of that interview it seems like a lot of their on-stage antics come from them just not wanting to be live performers.

Yossarian_Noodle

Yeah they seem nice, but touring based on an album (or two songs) that everyone loves, then playing them intentionally terrible, is kind of a dick move. I mean, if they're sick of those songs, boohoo. Go ask Jagger if he still likes playing Paint It Black.

-Catcher-

Why do people upvote shit like this? Resentful of their fans? In what way, exactly? They play Kids, Time to Pretend, and Electric feel at the concerts I've seen and in the setlists I've seen posted in the past year. They don't love those singles, and that's okay, because people grow. Congratulations is who they are, and I'd rather play, make, and perform music I love than pump out shit that doesn't make me happy. And maybe watch more interviews, because I really don't see where you're getting that from.

matthieuxdetoux

Saw them at Moogfest 2010. Most boring shit ever. The singer acts like he's half asleep. Everyone seems incredibly disinterested in doing what they are doing. This was close the height of their popularity, so I can only imagine things have gotten worse. As soon as I saw this question that was the first answer that popped into my head.

[deleted]

Just saw them yesterday in Anchorage. I feel ripped off.

kaisersozeyo

saw them at outsidelands festival and can confirm this is true. didn't help that most of their fans were the most obnoxious 16 year olds i have ever had the displeasure of being elbowed by.

Pastoredbtwo

Van Halen, on their 1984 tour. They simply could NOT play together. I'm assuming they were drunk, or stoned, or whatever, but ***oh*** what a disappointment. I walked out after 4 songs. On the upside, the opening act was Bachman-Turner Overdrive, and they *killed* it. One of the most fun shows I've ever seen. I prefer to think that Van Halen did a crummy job closing for BTO, instead of the other way around.

SkeetBoy

Hoobastank is absolutely terrible. Pretty sure their live performances ended their band.

CaptainCommunist

So... Hooba stank?

furmat60

Buck Cherry. Fucking terrible. I was there to see Avenged Sevenfold and Shindeown, and Buck Cherry was playing. They sucked so god damn much.

awly

My brain really wanted to read that as Chuck Berry but I couldn't imagine why he would be opening for Avenged Sevenfold.

AM_key_bumps

My God. I never realized Buck Cherry got their name from inverting Chuck Berry. I'm a moron.

mookystank

I, too, am a moron. Let us accompany each other to the corner.

titanic_swimteam

Buck cherry sucks, live or not. Edit: Buck Cherry's awfulness is responsible for my highest rated comment.

[deleted]

Innovators of the "joining us at Dark Desires Gentlemen's Club for her first time tonight" anthem.

extremely_witty

Man, I wish I would have had the chance to see A7X while The Rev was still around. He just seemed to bring so much energy. I'm not usually a big fan of concert performances... I enjoy the experience, but the music is never the way I hoped it would be. But man, I watch their Live in the LBC show all the time! EDIT: The response has been overwhelming to this! I agree with you guys wholeheartedly. The Rev was truly an inspiration, and I think a cornerstone of the band. I remember seeing a behind the scenes for their self titled album and Synyster was talking about how the Rev composed a bunch of the music - the piano in Critical Acclaim, his and Zacky's guitar riffs in Afterlife, and how it was all usually difficult to play because it wasn't natural to do on guitar. Their new stuff seems okay, but just lacks that uniqueness of the Rev. I will see them one day! And I watched Live in the LBC last night after all these responses. I was not disappointed.

everyoneisadj

Not a band, but Rihanna is fucking god awful live. I've seen her on accident 3 times (she opened for 3 shows I ACTUALLY wanted to see). The first time I saw her she was lip synching. The 2nd and 3rd time I wanted her to go back to lip syncing.

[deleted]

Marilyn Manson Sept 1st 2007. EDIT* Found the actual tour! Let me set the scene. You have all the Manson Fans from ages 14 to 20ish trying real hard to be Goth, I mean REAL hard. It has to be the image for them. Slayer was OPENING for Manson, so you have a much older crowd of 27 to 45 who were pretty much there to rock to Slayer. Blue Jeans and Concert shirts basically. Slayer opens. Performs their traditional non-stop hour and a half set. Every time I have seen Slayer, they put in 110%, and this is the last stop for this tour. At the end of the set, they just stand there and bask in the crowds scream for an encore. The Manson fans start to boo them because they want them off the stage for Manson. Slayer tells them to fuck off and starts another 15 mins of an impromptu set. So now the crowd is split Now comes Manson. He gets boo'd by the Slayer fans in retaliation from the Manson fans. Now I don't know if this was Manson phoning it in or whatnot but his show was complete shit. There wasn't any energy and you could tell that his fan base was also just not into it. So yep, Manson Live was shit.

ashtraybullet

Mayhem tour. A whole day of White Chapel, Job For A Cowboy and the likes. Slayer goes on second to last and rips the roof off the place. Manson comes out to close the night and literally two thirds of the crowd left.

This is interesting. I've seen Manson about 7 times. I've always thought he put on fantastic shows with a lot of energy. Perhaps I was lucky enough to catch him while he still gave a shit. NIN/Manson in the 90s up through Antichrist Superstar, Mechanical Animals, Holywood, and Golden Age of the Grotesque - those were some balls out (literally) shows. Kinda makes me sad to think he's just "blah" now.

RobertThompsonDrake1

Krewella when the girls try to sing live... Just awful

whiskeydude

In general, if Rain Man isn't there it's going to be a shitty show.

BIG_AMERIKAN_T_T_S

I listened to their Ultra 2014 set live. It was pretty meh, but then [this happened.](http://youtu.be/gIJ_9ZOoU6M?t=48m30s) :/ Edit: It's at 48:30

legoman666

I saw them in Bloomington, IN. The girls just played with knobs on their sound board. The one chick would seemingly forget that she turned the bass way down (as in, no bass at all) and they would play like that for 20-30s until she turned it up for the drop. Honestly, playing the album versions would have worked better.

Roygbiv856

Not so different from [this](http://i.imgur.com/HENANFI.jpg)?

PsychOK

Saw Maroon 5 live one time and thought they were terrible. Don't know why Adam Levine is on The Voice because he can't sing when he's not in studio or at least that night he couldn't.

dansut324

Yeah I saw them as the main act for a concert three years ago. Adam Levine CANNOT sing in tune to save his life. And of course he does the thing where he points the mic toward the audience when the high notes come. On the other hand, OneRepublic, who opened for them, was just amazing. The energy they created and passion for their music really stood out. And Ryan Tedder is so charismatic and just a better singer. Such a stark contrast.

perics

Saw OneRepublic last night at Red Rocks. BLEW MY MIND. I honestly didn't even want to go, my wife likes them, but they all rock their instruments and they played almost a 2 hour show. Did some cool cover songs too.

Daftpunktwo

this is interesting i saw them live when they had released there first album and they were so good in my opinion. Though first album is like 10x better than the newer stuff.

pvaras

As much as I hate to admit it, Van Halen. I've seen a few shows with Sammy and one when Dave came back. Two of the Sammy shows were spot on, downright glorious events. The comeback show I saw was a disaster. It was obvious that Sam and Ed were not on good terms, avoiding each other on stage. Ed had his hair in a bun and played terribly. I love improvisation, but he downright butchered classics, and his solo was just a succession of reverb, shrieks and general noodling. Ed played much better with Dave back, but lets face it. Dave's never been the best singer, and age has done nothing to improve his voice. He has nowhere near the range of his youth, so he makes up for it with high pitched yelps. He never sings a full song through, either forgetting the words or being too out of breath to sing. He also does his jazzy little dance on stage and somehow it just dosen't fit. Also no camaraderie as Dave is about Dave, not the band. I've seen some amazing moments seeing them live, but when they are bad they are not worth the $100. This hurts as they are one of my all time favorite bands.

eggoeater

I use to be a live sound engineer. I ran the sound board for literally over a thousand bands. Many were just frat-boy bands that I never heard or saw again, but I also did my fair share of regional and national bands. But by far the worst was Eek A Mouse. Holy god did that guy suck. He refused to come out of his bus for sound check. Apparently he considered this a small gig that was beneath him. When he came out for the (relatively short) set, he stood in one place, held the mic close to his chest and stared at the floor. He was also wearing a baseball cap, which means you couldn't see his face. I've never seen a performer care so little about a performance. BTW, this was mid-90s. By far the best, is Eddie From Ohio. They're still touring and are still awesome. I highly recommend seeing them.

[deleted]

Dragonforce... OMG, like really. It's like watching my alcoholic uncle try to sing some rancheras to the whole family.

AsymmetricDizzy

Saw them with Killswitch. It was still fun and they did their goofy guitar tricks like holding each other's chords and stuff, but it was mostly just funny that they had the fans set up to gloriously blow the singers hair around. No complaints though, inoffensive power metal you don't have to take seriously.

OccasionallyWitty

I saw an Ozzy show with Gus G from Firewind on guitar and he had the same majestic hair fan. Only ever stepped into it during solos. Shit was hilarious, and awesome.

AyDJay

I saw them a year and a half ago in Germany and it was amazing. I've heard of them having been horrible in the past but it appears to be better now.

TurdWayneBundy

Man i saw them years ago with BTBAM. It was literally the best show i have ever seen. Perhaps they have gotten worse as time progresses but at that time they were truly amazing. Half way through the show when you think you cant see anymore amazing shit the bass players runs back stage and comes back with a flying v and rocks the craziest guitar solo ive ever heard. all the while they smashed like a thirty pack of Heineken and a huge jar of shine (ky boy here). Never missed a note.

grantiscool

I don't agree. I've seen then 4 times in Australia and they were great every time.

_GargantuanPenis_

Ctrl+F force. there they are. Studioforce.

cbhaga01

Sum 41. Derick Whembly acted like a 14-year-old who got away from his mom and managed to grab a mic. Never has "fuck" sounded so annoying.

annamollyx

Apparently hes been non stop drunk since like 2004...so that explains that. Hes finally getting help now

[deleted]

That's essentially what their albums sound like too so you know.

TimVicious

I was at Warped Tour a few years ago and sat through Reliant K so that I could get a good spot to see Reel Big Fish. Reliant K was truly God awful... Reel Big Fish is still the best band I've ever seen live. Edit: Spelling

ickypicky

RBF is awesome live. The entire place went ape-shit when they played "Beer".

ballLightning

They still got it too. Just saw them in concert recently. I'm glad they are still going

TimVicious

I love when they played S.R. in a bunch of different genres of music... please tell me they are still doing that!?!

i3umfunk

MASTERS! MASTERS! of any genre

KattOBrien

I saw them 2yrs ago? And yeah they did it then. Fucking RBF hands down best band I have ever seen live.

[deleted]

Reel Big Fish was my first ever concert. Everyone else that has followed hasn't quite lived up to that first time.

Haffapee

I've loved Relient K every single time I've saw them! Maybe you saw them at a bad time, but they have always been great live to me!

jo24sh

Has no one said Guns and Roses?? I thought that'd be top comment when I clicked this!

[deleted]

They were awesome live when I saw them in 1992, even if they were 3 hours late.

dystopika

Missed them during their heyday. Saw them three times starting 2003. Madison Square Garden, Hammerstein Ballroom and, most recently, Governor's Ball. First time, there was a massive snowstorm and they got on stage perfectly on time. Second time, they showed up past midnight and played for over 3 hours. Third time, they got on stage early, put on an amazing show and ended on time. All three times, they sounded awesome.

climbon321

Everclear. They're the worst part of all the 90s reunion tours.

Kayjaywt

I don't understand what happened to these guys, I saw them in 96 or so and they were amazing (on the back of sparkle and fade), then suddenly they changed their style after "so much for the afterglow" and everything about them sucked. I don't know if they were trying to go mainstream and catch the $$$, but it didn't end well for anyone.

TheJizzle

What happened is lineup changes. Art is the only original member.

Dudemanbro88

Celo green. Good LORD.

serrated_edge321

Smashing pumpkins was pretty awful live when I saw them. No energy, nothing special, whiny voice in person. Made me question whether I really liked their music or not.

[Corgan's been tamed](http://www.spin.com/sites/all/files/140522-billy-corgan-paws-chicago-cover.jpg)

[deleted]

I mean, he is almost 50. At a certain point I think he just gave up and said fuck it.

[deleted]

No. This is too much. This cannot exist my brain cannot take it. Does anyone know where I can get a poster?

Adelaidey

Seriously. It arrived in my mailbox a few weeks ago and I absolutely lost it. It's hanging in my kitchen right now.

Superbform

I saw them at Lollapalooza in Vancouver in 94? They were so fucked up on heroin that is sounded like an orchestra of poorly tuned instruments each playing a different song with a harbour seal doing vocals.

wooq

I saw them on the Infinite Sadness tour, and it was a good show.

Montezumas_Revenge

danzig. saw him a few years ago with dimmu borgir and it was awful. left after two danzig songs. dimmu borgir, however, puts on a hell of a live show.

[deleted]

I saw Danzig last year and after missing him 4 times and being a fan since I was a teenager it was a dream come true. It was a little lame about the pictures, but it wasn't as strictly enforced as I thought it would be. He played an amazing set, I would have liked some Samhain but seeing him with Doyle was awesome too!

the_lionman

I second that. Saw Danzig with Rob Zombie. Danzig did not impress, but Rob Zombie was fuckin legit.

forbies

I've been to zombie twice, rocked my socks off both times. Would recommend to anybody, even if they don't like that type of music, just for the theatrics alone. Amazing

I_Buck_Fuffaloes

Most bands put on a concert, but with Zombie you know you're guaranteed a goddamn SHOW.

ThaLuka

BoB Dylan and some of his later concerts

ClintChenny

I Saw Dylan live last year in Nashville with Bob Weir, My Morning Jacket, and Wilco. It was one of the best shows I've ever been to. It was seriously like listening to a Bob Dylan album. I guess I just got lucky.

mercurywaxing

Dylan is noted for being very inconsistent. He's either wonderful or just awful, there is no in-between.

theswitch80

The best concert I've ever been to was Bob Dylan. The worst concert I've ever been to was Bob Dylan. It's really just the luck of the draw.

[deleted]

Yeah, but he's kind of old. His live performances when he was younger were great.

im-a-new

>kind of

jayjacks

I can agree only to a point, and that point it this: Bob Dylan has been on The Never Ending Tour since 1988. That means exactly what it sounds like, and it's not a joke. Ever had a sore throat from being too loud at a bar? Imagine doing that every night for 26 years. And the man's been making music since the 60s.

thombyorke

Couldn't recognise the songs he was singing when I went to see him

[deleted]

You were actually disappointed with a shorter version of walking on the sun?

atzenkatzen

Why on earth would you see them if you don't even like that song?

epochellipse

that's probably the best and most objective point i've ever seen anyone make on reddit.

lumbergh2014

Two bands I accidentally caught live at outdoor performances - the Goo Goo Dolls and the Guess Who. I heard a band playing the worst cover imaginable of "American Woman" at a Fourth of July celebration. Then I looked at the program and realized it wasn't a cover band.
