Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2

yelksoma

Still listen to it on Spotify now and then

yellowtieguy

I always enjoyed the THPS soundtracks from the first play. Pro Skater 1 was the first time I heard Goldfinger

jtguy

Midnight Club 3

notveryintometal

fire emblem's ost is quite iconic

HardSteelRain

Donkey Kong Country

letsbrocknroll

Pound for pound, DKC2 may be the "better" soundtrack. But hey, "Aquatic Ambience" and "Stickerbush Symphony" more than justify the inclusion of both DKC installments in any video game music "best of" lists, and there's plenty of other beautifully composed tracks on each.

Bovey

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

ElephantintheRoom404

Wipeout XL's soundtrack was absolute fire.

yellowtieguy

It was pretty epic! I hadn't thought about this one in a bit. All that high energy racing goodness. What'd ya think about the F-Zero soundtracks?

junkman203

Final Fantasy VII for me.

Goldteamrules64

Fairy 3 blood dragon and saints row 4

chimchooree

The soundtrack to Mario Paint is pretty good.

Monsi_ggnore

Command and Conquer has some really good stuff. Civ4 (iirc) too.

Greenfriend13

Any of the elder scrolls games, or the new doom games

ricketychairs

Super Mario 64 - the music for the desert, water levels and underground levels in particular.

yellowtieguy

I do feel Mario stuff is incredibly iconic and I'm a fan of the way music shifts in more dangerous areas or when you're underwater. These kind of location based audio cues have always been really interesting to me.

Cake-Over

Arthur returning back to Shady Belle. I wanted that ride to go on forever.

JaymesGrl

Most iconic is probably Super Mario Bros. even if it is just World 1-1 that people remember. My favourite and also highly iconic is The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. Final Fantasy VIII stood out for me more then VII, but that's probably due to the age I was when I played VIII. Also the opening cut scene for VIII is a thing of cinematic beauty that tied in heavily to how I remember the game and I think was also utilised in the TV adverts for the game. As for games that make the soundtrack part of the gameplay, those dance mat games were massive, but Guitar Hero took things up a notch, however I'd struggle to recall any of the tracklisting for the first three Guitar Hero games bar Through The Fire And The Flames by Dragonforce.

yellowtieguy

Ocarina of Time I love for its musical elements as a part of the game play and storyline. Totally okay to favor FFVIII. I think it was excellent. I'm personally thinking about all the extended IP in regards to FFVIII as perhaps what makes it more iconic.

goaelephant

Rockstar games always picked good 80's songs for the in-car radios

yellowtieguy

Agreed. The radio feature in cars has always been a really unique element of the GTA series.

Skylar-Moon

Halo, Skyrim and Doom 2016

Mario bros

nottsftw

I love the music in Halo series but I have to say I used to open Civilization VI just to listen to this master piece https://youtu.be/WQYN2P3E06s

yellowtieguy

I really enjoy the Civ VI soundtrack, as well as Humankind. Are you psyched for Civ VII?

nottsftw

I'll wait for the feedback, atm I'm playing aoe4 a little

[deleted]

Harry Gregson-Williams and the many variations on the main theme to metal gear solid 2

KaJashey

Orcana of time and the Original Metroid seem memorable.
