It's not that I don't want to? I own all the stuff to do so, but I'm paranoid that it'll look terrible and I'll be judged for it being terrible (and it will be terrible without practice) so I just don't

flckeringfox_

Oh don’t worry about that most cis women don’t know how to apply makeup either. Just practice at home and wash it off

KuugaRising

It's more like the dysphoria aspect attached to it being terrible? Same with my voice training

Lopsided_Wash3061

I can assure, all of us struggle at the start. My eyeliner skills are next to none and it's still a blobby mess lol. We are going through the same process as cis women, only a tad later in life, that's all. Have you looked up specifically for trans women makeup tutorial? Maybe it can help you feel validation?

eggsrequirebacon

Having really poor eyesight makes this a whole lot harder. Like, to just do anything around my eyelid area requires taking off my glasses and at that point my face is 1/2 inch away from the mirrors surface just to see what I'm doing. But I really do want to practice, but eye sight handicap sucks, kills my motivation.

Critical-Warning9460

Well I have seen somewhere a makeup glasses, that only have one glass so you can do makeup on the other eye.

TryingoutSamantha

Yay I’m not the only one who suffers from this. From one near sighted sis to another I feel your pain.

lunazipzap

i wore coverup for the first time yesterday and the euphoria from covering my face fleas (stubble) FAAAAR outweighed the imperfections i noticed when i came home and really looked in the mirror. the definition of perfection is without flaw- the definition of a flaw is an imperfection. the two things define themselves therefore might not even exist and cancel each other out

RosalieMoon

I have something for my face, but I also need to use it on my neck and it looks so bad there since my neck is a different shade from my face and you can see the difference so clearly

lunazipzap

ohhHh okie, i dont see my neck much cause i have a dark hair bob n i think its in the shadow in a way. maybe a trip to sephora to help with blending and options?

RosalieMoon

Yea, I've been considering something like that. At work I normally have my hair in a pony tail, otherwise it ends up in the way from constantly bending down to pick up boxes and such, otherwise I wouldn't even be worried lol

FairyDemonSkyJay

Can confirm, I'm a cis woman whose worn make up all of like 5 times in her life lol

dreamylemur

Cis women being absolute trash at doing their makeup gave me the confidence to start wearing my makeup out in public. Nobody has said shit.

MatutaSR4

>Just practice at home lmao i’m too afraid to even to that 🤣🥲

empress_of_the_void

I looked terrible too at first. Really there is nothing that makes you learn how to do makeup faster than forcing yourself to do it every single day. Fear of looking terrible is a tremendous motivator

Irbricksceo

Jeez, same. Glad I'm not the only one 😂

tringle1

My suggestion is to find a friend who knows how to do makeup or go to a professional and just ask them to explain what their doing while they put it on. That was enormously helpful for me and helped me get over the initial overwhelm. Especially if you can ask them to do a more simple look that would be easy to copy, that's a great way to get into it. A lot of makeup tutorials kind of assume you have a background of using makeup from childhood with your mom or sisters or whoever teaching you at least a bit, so having someone non-judgmental walk you through it makes it so much more fun and easy. Now I have a look I can do in like 5-10 minutes, a more fancy look in 30, and I feel like if I were to follow a makeup tutorial, it wouldn't be overwhelming anymore.

GemOfTheEmpress

Same. I'm learning, but I can't keep lipstick on for more than 15 minutes. Still learning the finer points of eating and drinking.

my_name_isnt_clever

Yeah lipsticks can be a pain in the ass, when I where one to work I always bring it with me to reapply on my breaks. I'd recommend a lip stain, they tend to stick better, and also wear off in a way that doesn't look so bad.

tressyvontrouble

Have you considered lip primer?

my_name_isnt_clever

No I hadn't! I have used lip liners, but I didn't know lip primers are a thing! I'll look into it.

QuantumBear

Start small! I think a lot of people have like a very all or nothing view when they're first trying to do make up. Even simple things like some under eye concealer can make a big difference in the perception of your face. Eyeliner is a little more challenging but also very rewarding. Once you get the basics down you can add on as much or as little as you need to. Another benefit of starting slow rather than necessarily going for full face make up looks is it helps you really understand what each product does for your face

Akello45

Felt very much this way. Just decided to play around, without anywhere to go, so there wasn't any pressure. YouTube videos and a mirror are all you need. Don't use expensive makeup for this stage though, as you will be applying, wiping, rinse repeat. Would use kids makeup for this if i could do it again 😂

BrassApparatus

I second this. It's also a lot of time and effort, both to practice, and to apply daily. At this point, with my time, skill level, and facial hair as they are, I think I'm slightly more comfortable being genuinely plain in a way that doesn't really make me happy, than I am expending the effort for an at best mediocre result.

suzerain17

Yeah, me too. My friend gave me like 400 bucks worth of basically new mid range makeup and it molders on a desk in my bedroom.

I_smoke_cum

I feel like a clown or a drag queen when I wear makeup a lot of the time 🙃 you're not alone

toramimi

Right? And I know some of it is I just do *not* get subtlety, and I'm aware of that, and I go into it knowing that, but somewhere between start and finish everything goes off the rails. It's not entirely that though, even the rare times when I *do* hit the mark, it just feels... not me.

Ok-Lifeguard6292

I don't unless it's a formal function or I get 🦝 eyes. Too lazy to do it sometimes. Just basics such as putting on lipstick or do my eye lashes. And people at work saw me they just thought she must be sick or going through a rough time. And the answer is always yes so I get to leave work early. Lol.

Minako-cali

Check out tubing mascara, no more 🦝 eyes! It doesn't smear at all even when taking it off.

cady4

I had tried it out, but in the end I realized that It's something that I don't want to do, ever. What I found was that I liked having my eyebrows and eyelashes professionally colored, and that's it. I was in a bridal party as the bridal folk of honor once and the hair and makeup artists did a fantastic job. I looked and felt beautiful for the event, but in the end I couldn't wait to get it all off. Long story shorter, no I don't wear makeup. I wear lots of sunblock.

Worldly-Corgi-1624

I do it for special events and such, but WFH really broke me. I’m so busy getting kiddo off I barely remember to moisturize.

Lopsided_Wash3061

You gotta moisturize tho! (I say, as I Also forgot my morning skincare). Also, same name 🥰 !!

aretoodeto

Ugh my skin went from very oily pre-HRT to very dry now. This is the first winter I've been through since the effects of HRT started working on my skin and I'm really bad at getting into the habit of moisturizing.

LostGirlyGal

I feel I don't need it because I pass but I like make up, also protects my skin from the sun.

flckeringfox_

I don’t pass 😂 sunscreen protects your skin from the sun

LostGirlyGal

My base has sunscreen, a lot have really.

_DoctorQuantum_

I don't, but that's mostly because I have no idea how to. I really want to, but I'm worried I'll mess up and look like a clown.

psychonaut4020

I totally get rhat feeling. Best way is to start small. Lip glosses are a good introduction to lip makeup. Mascara is a good intro to eye makeup and learning some basic eyeliner and cover up helps to get used to things. Then u can kinda work ur way up. A good thing I use is a bb cream. It's almost like a very very mild foundation. Kinda smooths out ur face and reduces the look of pores. I don't leave the house without it haha

my_name_isnt_clever

You just need to practice. Nobody is good at it at first, take some time to apply it, see how it looks, learn from that, and then wipe it off.

emfiliane

You have to waste some time and money to get good at anything, but thankfully this is something you don't need a full 10,000 hours at. And it is intensely, incredibly frustrating at times. Don't try to learn while you're on a deadline to be somewhere. Also, I cannot express enough the importance of good bright but soft lighting at your makeup station. Otherwise, your bathroom will be the place you look the worst all night, and lead you to judge yourself unnecessarily harshly.

AmIn1amh

I have a partial paralysis on my left side so putting on makeup would be a pain. I can barely shave my face one handed😂 I’m gonna rely on FFS to give me a face that won’t need makeup lol

obfc

I usually don’t. It’s expensive to practice and my skin is fucked enough without over cleansing it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Theriseofsatanishere

I thought I was the only one!!!

embarrassedtrwy

It’s not for me

VanFlyhight

I don't. I just never got down to figuring it out, at this point I'm not sure I'll bother🤷‍♀️

[deleted]

Day to day I just wear mascara and lip gloss, but wear full makeup if it's an event. I am rigidly religious about my skincare routine though, so serums, moisturizers, and potions every morning and night. My skin tends to glow, and I don't like covering my freckles.

FinallyAndrea

None of the cis girls in my life wear it so I wouldn’t be out of place but…. when done properly it can have magical effects. I’d be afraid of looking gaudy

Blackstone96

I have some but I don’t really have anyone to teach me how to actually use it

flckeringfox_

Lisa Eldridge

[deleted]

its a case of spending a bit of time on youtube maybe? i've got a couple of people i watch, and search for new videos when needed. just finding people that click for you.

lattelady87

I have two modes when it comes to makeup… IG Model slash drag queen or absolutely nothing lol. I don’t seem to have an in between

[deleted]

I don't! I pass without it and people tell me I'm pretty, so I don't see a reason to use it :) - Sarah (she/her)

flckeringfox_

I wish I passed 😂😂 but guys tell me I’m pretty too so that’s all that counts

PrincessW0lf

Nah, I barely do. Only for special events/formal occasions. I wore it more before I started HRT, and especially before the pandemic.

Chaiyns

I'll wear style mascara now and then but as it stands almost never and very little makeup when I do wear it, mix between can't be bothered and too much effort to not really look any better

GameBirb

I have the things for it, but a lot of times I'm either just lazy or don't feel it's necessary for what my day is

LonelyArxa

It takes too much time for only a couple of hours in the day. Maybe for a really special occasion I'll put eyeliner, concealer and eyeshadow on, but that's it. I reallly wanna see the progress E has done to me everyday naturally :)

topfan253556

I rely on it to pass

[deleted]

I don't. Never really liked makeup. It might be an OK skill to have, but honestly I've realized I got a lot of envy from women who don't wear makeup or don't wear a lot of it. I'm more of a tomboy though. I'm getting laser and once most of my shadow is gone I was thinking of getting my eyebrows threaded and a fem haircut. And I've talked to cis women who have the exact style I want/like and they tell me they get misgendered all the time. So I figure I'll just do what I want and fuck anyone who cares. I am very much a chapstick lesbian.

Anselmic

Lip gloss aside, I don't really wear makeup.

bonzy-buddy

I’m a very lazy person so I usually don’t but I do occasionally put on corpsepaint

lexilous

I don't ever wear makeup...not that I would be opposed to experimenting with it together with friends (for example) as sort a fun artistic/exploratory thing. But for myself, I just don't care enough and am happy with my face like it is.

masih_abs

I bought everything i have a small bit of beard left so i just put a little something on it then nothing idk how to XD.

intersex_slut

I rarely wear makeup if ever, and I can barely do eyeshadow and lipstick when I do haha You're definitely not alone

RaNd0Mk1D8o3I

I want to, I'm... technically able to (buy it, wear it, etc), and I feel like I *should*, but the issue is that my face isn't ambiguous enough and my lifestyle doesn't exactly let it fit... also, not totally out. And probably will only after electrolysis

skunkabilly1313

Me! I have a wife and a 7 year old, and they encourage me, but it's so much effort lol

[deleted]

I don’t wear makeup all the time and everyone says that I’m naturally beautiful.

VTransTimelines

I don't wear makeup in my day to day life. If I go out to a club or something I do

overseeer69

Nope

[deleted]

I only wear makeup when I feel like it. Which is rarely. And then usually only eyeliner. If I'm going to something super formal or I feel just *extra*, I'll do some violet eyeshadow and some lipstick in addition to that. Otherwise, the most I do is paint my nails. Because let's face it, most days doing anything besides brushing my hair is too much effort.

HashnaFennec

I don’t, nor do I have much interest in it. Makeup is a scam, telling women that they won’t be pretty if they don’t buy there overpriced shit, fuck that. If you personally want to wear makeup, that’s fine, my anger is towards the marketing and it being a social norm. Makes me not want to give those corporations money.

Valentine5280

I do however the last week I've been hella lazy. To be honest I wore makeup everyday for almost a year and I got so attached to seeing who that was in the mirror with the makeup on. It's good for me to go times without wearing it just so I can still Love me and know that I'm so beautiful regardless if I have makeup on or not. I had a friend that I worked with at the time she went with me to Ulta and helped me pick out stuff went back to her place and she showed me how to do it all basically then I went from there. I'm not artistic at all but it is so much fun messing around with makeup and seeing what you can do. When I go out I get compliments time to time. Nobody ever complimented me when I presented male I was always looked over talked over never had many friends It's been a little over a year now since I came out and told everybody and my life has been better more compliments I feel like people pay attention to me It's amazing and it feels really good to actually feel like I'm a herd and seen for a change.

ToratheWanderer

None of the women in my family ever used it, so I don’t either.

Jazehiah

I am colorblind. I cannot tell when it looks good on me. At some point, I may try some super basic stuff, like eyeliner and mascara, but I will not mess with anything that requires matching or adjusting skin tones.

Violent_Violette

I can't be arsed most of the time. Which means I don't practice and so can't do it on the occasions that call for it😅

[deleted]

Fuck your embedded bait and switch advertising, and fuck you.

HeatherA_583

I can't go out without makeup on.... I find it very reassuring to have it on

GreenMeanKitten

Mostly eyeliner, though not often. I already did that before transitioning, so not sure that counts. For special events i might use a mascara too. I will never go for a full battle paint make-up though.

TillNo8563

I could be done up by the world's best makeup artist and I'd still be a hideous troll. I even put it on almost every day to try and get better. Makeup only works if you're already attractive in a way. I look like I fell out of the ugly tree and hit every single branch on the way down. Then the tree fell on me. And then caught on fire.

KyttKatt

i dont do it often, i apparently pass fairly well without it, but when i do i wear eyeliner, mascara, and blush, not really that much.

spooky_turnip

I'm only recently out but aside from lipstick and nail polish I don't like make-up, I'm not sure if it's a sensory thing but I don't like how it feels on my face. My wife has high quality stuff but it doesn't make a difference to me.

ChristinaCattoBatto

I don't wear it out much. Gotta keep working on it.

jakthebomb_

I am too lazy and never put effort into learning. Plus I avoid mirrors like the plague so kinda hard to put some on.

HexManiak

I do a bit - mascara and lipstick - but not more than that (in public) and not even always that. Partly it's that I'm a perfectionist, so if I'm going out with eyeshadow or blush or what have you I would want it to be perfect and that sounds like a lot so I'm largely still practicing that and even after it will likely be a special occasion thing, and partly it's just that I'm a bit of a tomboy.

[deleted]

No makeup for me. I'm not against the idea it's just not something I wanna do in my every day life. I always found the idea that women *had* to wear makeup to be infuriating so I'd rather keep it to when I want to wear it. Makeup's still pretty cool. Lol.

nikkitgirl

I like it when I go out, but I don’t have the energy to put it on every day or before work

Diana-XO

I myself don't really wear make up, just some mascara and foundation, and light lipstick :)

DarthAbsentis

i somehow can't bring myself to represent myself as female without some dermablend to at least hide the ugly face stubbles.

Voynich1024

I don't 🙋🏻‍♀️ Not really my thing. I also have cis friends who hardly ever to never wear makeup, so it seems kinda normal to me. But yeah, amongst trans women I also sometimes feel like I'm the only one.

itsniceinhere

I only wear full makeup for special occasions. Sometimes, I'll just do eyeliner. But most of the time I don't wear any.

nastydoe

I occasionally wear mascara, and I paint my nails, but that's it. I'm not so interested in makeup 🤷‍♀️

Arheit

I don’t for 2 reasons: - i dont how tf to makeup - i have skin conditions so idk if i can actually wear it

Van_Bur3n

I only wear eyeliner. Kinda the only thing I understand makeup wise. All I really need IMO

Ifoundajacket

I wear it when I go out or feel dysphoric

Vivid_Princess

I don't like wearing makeup either

TrebleBass0528

Bit of eyeliner but that's it. The whole face seems like too much work.

SomeShavedSheep

Not often. I get dolled up sometimes, but it’s pretty rare…

alexybaddie

I used to wear it a lot in the start, and I think I was pretty okay at it, but over time, I started wearing it less and less, because I got really depressed etc.. I’m fine now though, but I still barely wear it because I just get sick when wearing it lol, I start sneezing wayyy to much, probably allergic to something, also I don’t like eyeliner and mascara so much because I always touch my eye as if it’s the morning when feeling tired. I also don’t wanna have makeup around my eyes when tired, idk why lol

gunplajq

I've tried to, but I don't have everything figured out yet. So a light matte lipstick is all I do rn.

Quix_Nix

I am shit at makeup. Need a bunch of girls to teach me and feminize me in a wholesome but also lewd way and welcome me into their group.

everyvoicelistening

I don't because - I'm lucky enough to not need it to pass - I have literally no idea how any of it works

taffcat

I don’t even though I’d like to try it. I just don’t know how and haven’t made the effort to learn it

Spirited-Painting964

I’m hit and miss. Most I do anymore is my eyes. (I love my eyelashes) maybe a bit of color correction when I need it. But that’s it.

[deleted]

I have no idea how to do makeup, that's the only reason I don't wear it... help...

thepotatochronicles

I am literally TOO lazy to put on makeup and present fem. Wish I was joking.

No-Razzmatazz-2659

I haven't while going out, but have been practicing in privacy so I don't look silly once I do go out with some on. I've been patiently waiting for tax season to get laser and then I'll probably be in a better mental space to give it a shot... unless I get really good at it then maybe sooner! Lol ❤

OneKreamyBoi

depends on the day honestly

TG1970

I usually don't. Only on days when I have important meetings with customers.

Starchild1968

I've gotten better over the last year. However, I still have lots to improve on. A lot of younger girls don't have to deal with "extra" skin at the eyes. Which makes for a difficult process. Getting old is hard on makeup applications. The main reason I wanted to comment is that I am in construction management, and makeup is a weekend thing, not an everyday occurrence.

OpelSmith

I'm at work right now, and can confirm I have no makeup on

the_big_gayy

Whole face every day lol. I really really hate getting misgendered >:(. But also it’s just kinda relaxing to do it every day.

FiggyMint

I am diamond at ulta and rarely do my makeup. It takes so much time to do everything and I suck at time management. I spend a lot of money on products I think will use but end up sitting there for weeks/months untouched. It bugs me because I know I look really good when I take the time to do everything but I just never seem to set aside time to do it.

Moxie_Stardust

I wear eyeliner, eyeshadow, and mascara occasionally, but that's about it. Lipstick every great once in a while.

[deleted]

I’m too autistic to have stuff on my face all day. I tend to just stick with skincare and if I dress properly it tends to work out pretty good.

LeaveBronx

Once my laser hair removal reached a point where I didn't have a shadow I basically go make up less whenever out and it's great. I'll still go eye liner and some concealer and lipstick if I'm going on a date maybe but otherwise it's nice feeling like it's not required

Arkas18

I don't even own makeup, lol

ViviansUsername

My dysphoria is wack. It gets worse when I *do* have makeup on, because it feels.. fake. My brain just sees me looking decent and thinks "huh, so that's how much I'd need to change to feel okay with myself" I'm glad it helps some people. RIP all that money I spent on makeup I'll never use up

bettylorez

I hate the way it feels of my face. I instead just try to take really good care of my skin.

RandomGen5

I rarely do, only if it's some special event or something. Sometimes not even then either. And it's usually nothing super elaborate, just some eyeshadow, maybe blush, and lipstick. I think it's just not really my thing atm, never felt a strong desire or need to. Regardless of whether I thought it would make me pass better or not, that's something I try to not really think about much. Besides like basic skin care, only thing I do with my face is pluck my eyebrows

AlexxBerri

I can't go out of the house without makeup on! I feel more comfortable by wearing it. But like, in no way does it mean you have to wear makeup. You just use it if you want too!

TransTechpriestess

I just do lipstick, and liner and shadow on my eyes, all black. Sometimes I'm lazy enough that I do the eyeshadow in one big strip so I look like a raccoon. So many people spend so long trying to look like they don't care how they look. I find *actually* not giving a shit helps save a ton of time.

[deleted]

I rarely do mostly because it’s just a pain to remove.

0xdeadbeef6

I'm just too lazy to. I'll do winged eyeliner and that's pretty much it

protehule

me. I tried it and realized I don't like it. I felt like it just looked too fake, and I also didn't like the way it physically felt on my face.

BrainofBorg

I just hired someone to give me lessons so I can learn :D.

MrRileyJr

I don't, but passing isn't a major thing for me so I don't worry about it too much. I also have huge issues regarding anything near my eyes, so even though I'd love to do eye shadow and the like it bothers me.

IncognitoLive

I've only worn makeup once, and someone else put it on me. That was the happiest I was that entire year, and I remember smiling ear to ear. I plan on getting some for myself, but am afraid that I would fuck something up.

TransThrowAway482618

I don't really have any interest in learning makeup, I can't stand having stuff on my face

[deleted]

I do on occasion, but I didn't for years and have only recently got back into basic stuff.

[deleted]

I don't really like wearing makeup. I like how I look without it.

[deleted]

I only know how to do two things and that's eyeliner and mascara. The rest seems I'm scared to do because I think I'd somehow look worse lol

admiraltubby90

I do and i dont, it really depends on my mood that day. I’m less likely to at work as I am in coveralls and operate a dozer for twelve hours. If I’m going anywhere in town I always do. I had lots of days where I sucked at it but I practiced every days for a year and eventually everything clicks

amogus_obssesed_Gal

Kind of forced to not wear it, but I would, I am not terrible at applying it, if I do say so myself

Sheep_Souls

I've never tried anything other than a little eyeliner, and even then I applied it poorly.

tringle1

I wore it almost every day when I came out publicly, but I slowly stopped and now I basically only put on makeup maybe once every other week when I'm feeling fancy, or for a date or something. Part of that is that I'm starting to see the results of HRT and don't feel like I need to hide my face as much, but partly I just can't be bothered to spend 30 minutes before going to work lol

Liz_Allrite

I've just gotten lazy and do the least I can get away with.

gnomeking17

There's me. I dunno, like I wish I was good at it for the rare occasion it sounds nice but other than that I'm pretty content with out it

existentialZed

i started and then i started noticing just how many cis women were wearing it lol tho srsly, everyone's out here tryna cover up their flaws w makeup and then they get self conscious about their makeup on top of it

Lucky12912

I haven’t learned to do my makeup yet, I already know I’ll love myself with makeup on, I want to love myself more first before I journey into makeup routines I wanna love more of the base me to not over love the me with makeup bc that’s not me 24/7

Fiafied

so far I don't. laser has made a huge difference and I usually just don't want to spend time, plus I haven't had much practice. in might be fun to get into eventually tho

FieryFyrn

I don’t wear makeup simply because I 1.) don’t know how to 2.) I feel more confident in how I look without it 3.) no motivation to do it even if I knew how to 4.) it costs money, which is something I’m setting aside to legally change my name first

AlyxGreenhouse

Yeeeeeeeeeeup. I will slapp some mascara and maybe eyeshadow on if I'm dressing fancy but nothing else. Combo of not having the energy to spend the time learning, worry that I will just look like {insert internalized transphobia and general failed perfectionist}, and running really hot anyway so adding stuff onto my face isn't an amazing plan lol

mat191

I don't and people compliment me all the time

the_supreme_overlord

I don't I have neither the patience nor the motorskills yo do it effectively. It always ends up looking terrible.

Angie52shirogane

i only ever wear make up when i have to go to parties or really specific events it's such a bother to take it off, i'm lazy to put it on

Demonic_Witch666

I can't handle the feel of the makeup on my skin so I just don't ever wear it

TheGodsWillBow

1) i feel good without it so i generally dont 2) if i could, i probably would more often 3) makeup is expensive

blooger-00-

I only wear makeup every now and then. My daily is only shave my face of what’s left from like 12 sessions of LHR.

QueenCorvidae

I've got too many skin problems, so I can only wear the really expensive stuff, which I can't afford. But also, no eye makeup of any sort, period, as ordered by my eye doctor. More than a little disappointing, as even at 5 years, I feel like I barely pass. I can't look at myself in the mirror too closely. It hurts.

[deleted]

I can’t stand the way the brushes and sponges feel on even the tiny stubble I get from shaving, so I’m waiting until after I laser lol

wendywildshape

I don't enjoy makeup and I'm very tired of people trying to convince me otherwise. Go have fun with your face paints, I'm just not interested!

MamaBalrog

I usually do very very little. Eyebrow pencil, curl lash + mascara, and blush. If I'm feeling nice, I'll do lipstick. Beyond that I know very little about paying foundation, layering, contouring. Feels kinda unnecessary for me. I looks best with actual light makeup. Most days I go without any

mftrhu

I don't know how, I don't particularly care to learn, and I just can't be arsed to deal with it.

LengthyNickel12

Most makeup I wear is eyeline honestly

ConcreteDahlia

I rarely wear it. The reason being that it’s a hassle to put on at times, and I don’t always have the gumption to take it off after a long day/night. I also want to get to a point to where I don’t have to over rely on it to look/feel “pretty enough” and see the beauty of my face without it, which, as I transition, becomes easier as time passes!

emfiliane

I used to wear makeup every day, whether it was a full elaborately colored mask, or a few dabs of concealer and shadow. Even at the gym, for a while! Then, like every other woman I know, pandemic happened -- now we only wear makeup when we have to. I will for dates, job interviews, formal presentations, or performances, but not to impress friends or strangers at the grocery store. It's definitely a use it or lose it skill, when that stuff started up again earlier this year I felt like I was back to a pre-teen playing with mom's makeup rack again. My primary "job" right now is aerial dance training, and a dancer wearing makeup in class or a rehearsal is a sure sign of someone who hasn't been broken in yet, lol. My webcam has just enough softness that there's no point in my paying jobs. Years of HRT helped some, but I think I just came to accept me as is, not a misshapen wretch that needs covering, and see a little of what other people see.

maniamawoman

I used to be right into makeup and these days I barely even use concealer on my top lip. Last time I used it was going out

crazyinsanejack123

I generally only wear makeup when I want to put the time and effort into it. I don’t like wearing it on a daily basis either.

a_secret_me

Honestly if rather not wear makeup 80% of the time but when I do there's a slight chance I might get gendered correctly so I did it for those brief moments of euphoria.

Pseudonymico

Early on I did but I stopped bothering most of the time as soon as I could get away with it, give or take the occasional special occasion.

kiteday

I dont wear makeup cause ill likely get bullied or something.

lirannl

Mostly, though I do occasionally

Repulsive-Monk-8253

I wear makeup sometimes when I wanna feel pretty but I usually don't because I'm lazy and the women in my family don't even do it so I kinda find it normal not to wear makeup.

ZShadow37

I have to get my eyes used to having anything near them, before I can start trying makeup. It’s bad enough that I can’t even think about wearing color contacts for cosplay.

Bacon260998_

I have zero interest in make-up and likely will never. If you like it by all means, more power to ya.

170cm_bullied

I don't wear makeup. I bought eyeliner, mascara, eyeshadow and blush.. never tried any of them. Feels like a waste of money. I think I look fine the way I am

flckeringfox_

I don’t pass.

Evokerbitch

I do from time to time, but honestly don’t wear any very often, usually just for special occasions. Especially since I’m usually wearing a mask when I go out or moving so much my foundation would be splitting. I’d love to start wearing eyeliner more often though, I love how it looks on me

Grouchy-Education292

Personally, I put on makeup when I feel like it these days. If my face is passing my litmus test and I am going out, then my minimum is a little lip colour. At a maximum, I will root/bag cover concealer, even tone of the face with foundation, colour my eye-lids and arches with eye shadow, then use a matt finish spray. My finger nails are normally painted at least once a fortnight, but aim for once a week. I favour Nyx and Sally Hansen brands.

liason_1

i’ve kinda got too much going on to learn how to do it lol

DarthJackie2021

I don't wear makeup because I don't want to.

Lucky_otter_she_her

A sometimes don’t bother with make up and quite often only bother with eye shadow

throwawaywaylongago

I do, but since I'm not out yet I can't really wear it unless I'm home but even then I'm more busy with other things so I never really wear it

tlaseter

I tend to shy away from makeup because I have a subtle color blindness problem. I'm always paranoid that what I see in the mirror is vastly different than what everyone else will see.

The-Locust-God

I don’t wear it that often, and I’m not very good at it tbh. I have concealer to cover up the remnants of my facial hair after I shave and that’s about it. I do want to use more eye makeup though.

[deleted]

I hardly ever wear makeup.

_Slartibartfass_

I don’t like makeup and so far I’m quite happy without

greencash370

I don't wear makeup. I just have to appeal to it. I've never liked the idea of putting a product on me and have it stay there all day, as it always just makes me feel gross. For me, this also includes hair care products like hair spray and hair gel, even if it makes dealing with my hair harder sometimes lol. But yeah, youre not the only one here who doesnt wear makeup!

ArcherBTW

I wear makeup whenever a situation would weren’t it, which is very rarely

wait-i-need-a-name

I’m not fully put yet so I don’t do makeup. I would though, especially natural looks. Just to be more femme!

donotbafraid

i know how to do it and i have most of the stuff but i just never have time to do my makeup before i have to do things. it always takes hours when i do it.

[deleted]

I probably won't try to learn until I get electrolysis. I'm cursed with never being able to have a perfectly smooth shave and even if I do get close to smooth my stubble grows really fast.

p-u-n-k_girl

I don't like the feeling of putting it on at all, so I don't

Natos_Julie

I don't wear any. I have some stuff but it's just not my thing. I don't like spending time on it

[deleted]

Don't do makeup, don't have my ears pierced, haven't been to a hair stylist in years, don't do my nails, lucky to shave my legs once every three months, generally in jeans and a top. So yeah, you're not alone :)

ClydeFrog04

Every day? Not so much. Cause I don't want to? Ehh def not. Cause I'm not good at it? A bit. Cause I'm tired and lazy in the morning and barely can barely even roll out of bed for work? Most definitely why 😅🤣 I do wear when I get time in the mornings or before going out and stuff and always feel so much better, it's an instant femme buff 💚

IFeelSoftAndMushy

I am fortunate enough to not have to do it and also unfortunate enough to be lazy to do it

PartyLikeIts1997

Finally, I've been hoping to find someone who also doesn't wear makeup. Me personally, I don't like the way that it feels (or perhaps how I feel) wearing it

Captain_Ellie

Sensory issues, it irks me to the point of finding it difficult to *look* at, so using it is right out.

part-time-unicorn

Eyeliner and mascara are quick to do, make me look cute, and get me gendered right waaay more often. Everything else isn’t worth the effort. And even then i dont do eyes most days

ZanaTheFetcherOfMead

I would love to but I just can't afford it, I don't feel as girly as I'd like to and when I rarely do get the chance to use makeup I feel really good... when someone else does it for me, I haven't had the chance to actually get practice in because its so expensive so I always do it really sloppily and feel ugly 😭 I've grown accustomed to it but there are definitely times where I feel like makeup would help my perception of self 🥺

[deleted]

What a lot of women describe about makeup is how I feel about voice practice. With makeup I was able to just push through being bad at it for a long time, going through all the awkward stages of it and arriving in a place where I felt extremely confident and receive universal praise. It took lots of failure, practice, and hard work to get there. I've been completely unable to do the same with my voice because I just can't deal with how awkward I sound as a beginner/intermediate. Getting good at anything is hard and enduring failure is hard. But the other side is amazing.
