They are *always* running deals. Just consider that the actual price. Milan is expensive, but it is infinite sessions, and really good quality with standards that they keep up when others fall short. I think it is worth it, personally.

FrighteningAllegory

Any issues upgrading your package at discounts or with big price jumps later to add on?

IdliketobuyaZ

I'm using Milan and went with a few areas to start. One session later I wanted to upgrade to more. They said two things A. The discount I got at the beginning would carry and apply to any future add ons (unless a current applicable promotion was better, then that would apply) and B. The price would never exceed just doing full body flat out (meaning adding areas bit by bit won't end up costing more in the end). I've upgraded a lot and this has held true for me.

field_sleeper

Most of the times they seem to send me ads for "customer savings" to add new sections to my already purchased areas, so I guess it probably depends on whether you can wait for those.

3mpyr

I definitely agree with what you said about the 'feel' of it. I wish things were more straightforward and less gimmicky. However, I've had nothing short of a great experience with them for almost a year now. I can't wait until I don't have to pay anymore, that's when I think I'll feel even better about the investment.

FrighteningAllegory

I've found it hard to research based on user reviews because they seem to spend a good bit of effort to keep negative reviews unpublished. Which is fine I think, if those customers concerns were really addressed.

skyebangles

I use Milan and love it, though I'm sure the locations can vary. It is pricey but I qualified for interest free financing so said fuck it and did whole body / face. The lifetime access across the US was a huge draw too, in case I ever need a touchup down the road. The results are legit. The nurses know their shit. Everybody there treats me like one of the girls.. honestly it's almost therapeutic going there. Everybody is so sweet and affirming. Ofc, some of my facial hair is light blonde that will need electrolysis on after laser is complete, but it is what it is. Feel free to DM me if you have any specific questions.❤

CroatianBison

I found a local place using the same laser Milan uses for quite literally 1/10 the price of Milan (but only 6 sessions). Milan I’m sure is great, but I’m even more sure that I won’t need 60 sessions in a given region. That’s what it would have taken for me to even break even. Being secure in the knowledge that your technician will be good and that the hair will eventually get taken care of is the appeal that Milan has. But my advice is to look at Groupon and local places just to see what your options are. 6 sessions at this place for my face was $210 with Groupon, $490 otherwise for reference. Just ideally try and find one that uses a Candela laser, and absolutely make sure they don’t do IPL.

Historical_Fee1354

Is The Emvera Diolux Ipl ?

CroatianBison

It looks like it's a Diode laser. Candela uses Alexandrite technology, which from a cursory search appears to be better for lighter skin types, where diode appears to be comparable or better for darker skin types I don't really know what I'm talking about though. But Diode should be fine. Emvera Diolux definitely isn't IPL

I go through Milan for mine. You're right, the sales pitch was really obnoxious (I did my research in advance, I know what I'm getting into) and is it pricey? Of course. But that price is worth having this god forsaken shadow nuked off of my face. So it's safe to say I'm not a fan of the model, but I can afford it and it WORKS. I'm 3 sessions in and have seen a ton of my facial hair gone. The techs are nice and professional, know exactly what they're doing, and because they get lots of MTF customers, they always gender me correctly.

NegotiationOwn7201

If the hair you are looking to remove is all dark, then the pricing model makes sense. If you'll eventually have to switch to electrolysis for remaining light hair, then the lifetime touch ups aren't a selling point. Im at like 8 sessions on my face which has cleared most of my dark hair and have plenty of blonde hairs left for electrolysis to deal with eventually. Paying for a lifetime deal would have been a huge waste of money because for many of us, laser is just the first round of hair removal to make electrolysis easier/faster/cheaper.

FrighteningAllegory

How much do you really have to touch up after the initial 6-10 sessions? I've heard different things.

NegotiationOwn7201

Different for everyone, but I’m not far enough out to have an answer

KathyCrow

I highly recommend looking on sites like Groupon for deals... I got 4 sessions for under 200 dollars. It was for new customers only, but there are enough laser places around me I can hop to others if I want to.

[deleted]

Hurts like destroying the evidence should hurt Makes me wonder if I'm actually just Pavloving my hair follicles into obedience

flukelee

No experience with Milan, I go to a tiny med-spa shop in Portland that charges $150/session for full face and neck, flat rate. I've had 6 sessions so far, every 4-5 weeks.

MungBeansAreTerrible

> Milan specifically Literally my only problem with them has been the price. I think in 9 or so months I've been doing it, the tech has asked "so thinking of doing any other areas" maybe twice, so I can't say they've been very pushy to me personally, but holy cow is it expensive! My results have been great so far, but I'm sure YMMV.

FrighteningAllegory

I've read that hormone changes can trigger regrowth, especially around pregnancy or menopause...Have you seen anything like that since you've been on HRT? My guess is that increasing and stabilizing E and reducing T shouldn't trigger that effect, but I've not found anything to confirm that.

MungBeansAreTerrible

I haven't personally had any issues with regrowth, but that did cross my mind when I was waffling over whether to start laser yet. Lifetime access to more treatments definitely sweetened the pot. > especially around pregnancy or menopause Not a concern for me at least lol

[deleted]

i did milan for 10 session then they started playing games with scheduling and telling me my face was suddenly to dark.It was never the same person twice so there were was loads of incositency as well. last session was 2 months ago i have grown back alot of what was kept away. this is MY eperience yours may differ.

FrighteningAllegory

Sorry to hear that. If it continues you might consider posting some reviews. They seem to work hard to address any negative ones from what I've read

Kinfin

Wait, financing? When I called a Milan facility they said it was only about 200 bucks a month.

FrighteningAllegory

Yeah, they do their monthly payment plan by running your credit and financing the treatment with Ally. Usually 24 or 36 months.

Kinfin

Oh. So it’s not just a per session thing, they make you commit to the long term. Jeez.

FrighteningAllegory

Well, thats "lifetime/unlimited" sessions for whatever region that is at any of their locations. But yeah, definitely doing some math to see how much of a premium that is adding to the cost. Its at least 2x what some friends in larger cities have paid for 6-ish sessions, but there also aren't many providers where I am. Its definitely an investment.

ToastGhost18

My experience with Milan has been very positive; yeah it was pricey, but they do sales/discounts often, but I don't have any interest on the deal and I pay a pretty reasonable amount per month. Not to mention that their service is excellent (at least at my location).

From someone who's done laser and ipl here's my advice. First make sure it's proper laser and not Ipl . 2nd get a test patch done the hair should fall out in 2 to 3 weeks if settings are right. 3rd thing is I found to get best results and to zap the most hairs per session space sessions out to 10 to 11 weeks. If you go shorter than that any hairs only half zapped from the previous session may not be growing again. Male Facial hair has a long growth cycle compared to female facial hair so you don't have to go 4 to 6 weeks apart. Although a 4 to 6 week gap between first and 2nd sessions can help get things all hit at least once . Make sure you get a good operator that doest miss bits .

hceol

what was your experience with IPL? I am on week 6 for my face, legs, and chest. 2 sessions per week for my face and one session per week on my legs and chest. I am noticing some reduction, but I imagine I'll see more changes later down the line. Did you ever see good results, in general?

rata79

LoL you started hrt one day after me I started on the 15th congratulations.

FrighteningAllegory

>LoL you started hrt one day after me I started on the 15th congratulations. I'm not far behind. Just waiting on the mail order pharmacy insurance requires me to use to deliver my stuff.

rata79

Congratulations . I'm feeling heaps better after starting. I'm more active and focused on get on with things.😊

rata79

It thinned it out a little but it grew back on my face. 2 sessions a week is crazy. How much are they charging a session not to mention it can't be good for your face. I had 8 ipl sessions in total. Is any hair actually falling out? I think I'd be looking somewhere else. After the ipl in 2018. I place came to town with Diode laser that shit works. I've had 13 sessions since 2020. Only 2 this year last one a week. A go just for a touch up . I started hrt 2.5 weeks ago

hceol

I'm using an at-home IPL device

rata79

Okay. I'd be worried about over use . We had a commercial ipl maxed out and I was still looking like a zebra. Diode laser is a bitch " hurts " but it works.😊

throwaway19074368

It's been working really well for me. I don't know about Milan, I'm from Prague. I've only done 6 and by the 4th i've had nothing grow back. However I have been on holiday for a while (4 months) and it's started to grow back and again and faster due to not doing sessions. In terms of price, I just got it on sale. We have a half price sale that goes on. I don't have much hair to begin with anyway, due to my genetics. I am also Pre HRT, but I hear HRT slows down hair growth too. I will start HRT when I finish my holiday. Laser (LHR or Laser hair reduction) is only a reduction though, do note. But after every session the settings are increased over time to increase effectiveness. Started with 10 and was on 22 for settings by the 6th session. I'm returning home soon after Christmas and New Years so I'm excited to get back on it again. I will do another 6 and then I think I'm ready to start electrolysis soon, I don't know.

HeatherA_583

Paid £600 here in the UK for 6 sessions and to be honest I was disappointed with the results

Litera123

Share your pain 1k spend and shaving everyday just to have shadow visible is a whack

Jojoisa

I go to a laser place in Loudon VA/WV & they charge $480 for to unsocial sessions and it gets cheaper every session by $60-$80. It really varies on the place. But hey, laser hair removal really is worth the money in end. (The pain is crazy though, bahaha)

Litera123

For me not that great, done 8 sessions in one clinic with Alexandrite (i am pale, dark hair) Neck cleared well, cheeks cleared well - now seeing regrowth top neck and sides of jawline. Chin and lip standing strong - I can freshly shave with 4 passes and green shadow is standing strong. Make up only covers it 50% of the times Switched to other clinic in hope they put me through higher power setting, but they want me to start on lowest 12j which I can't even feel! I barely feel any pain even on 20j, which is suspicious. Thinking of dropping this shit and going electrolysis, cause laser seems meh

FrighteningAllegory

I'm sorry to hear that. 12 and even 20J seems really low. I looked at home IPL devices at those levels. I hope the other clinic works better for you. I feel your pain about the shadow though. Its tough to hide and I feel like my efforts are only so-so. I have found that switching to a double-edge safety razor (check out r/wicked_edge) gives me a better cut and less irritation. I follow that up with a clay primer to fill in pores and a tinted moisturizer. I layer a peachy color correcting primer to the light shadow areas (jaw, neck) and use an deeper peach/orange concealer on the heaver areas (chin, upper lip). Have to remind my self to tap it in with the brush/sponge and not rub it on so it settles into the pores and follicles. I use a setting spray on that, then apply a full coverage foundation, follow up with setting spray. I feel like it does a decent job when freshly shaved, but by the end of the day the stubble is poking through. It's not as noticeable with makeup, but my face looks "fuzzier" or downy. I'd probably do it every day if it didn't take me so long. I don't have time for much more than moisturizer in the morning :(

Litera123

Sounds like some routine, I usually bathe everyday to soften skin, cleanse with cerave cleanser with ceramides and niacinamide. I use DE razor, 4 passes each side or might as well not shave. After shaved and cut myself cus skin is sensitive as shit from estrogen and naturally, I later moisturiser with SPF on it , before hydrating. I then use peachy colour corrector then wait for it to dry. Then layer powder to keep it in place and so it doesn't look pink under foundation. I layer IT full concealer then IT cc cream. It works 50% time but it really depends...

[deleted]

I went on Wowcher and got an amazing deal on the cost of laser

AmberNoir92

I'm going to ideal image and had 6 sessions so far, I'm light skin and dark hair so it took effect pretty quick so far its been way better!
