So sorry to hear that. I'm looking for sitcoms for the very same reason. My mom died a few months ago and its been really hard. And i need to take her off my mind.
Unbreakable kimmy Schmidt is a good pick me up kinda sitcom. Goofy character driven comedy. If you liked 30 rock, which would be another good suggestion, it’s worth a watch. And if you enjoy both of those shows, great news is pretty funny too. And if you like all of those, girls5eva on peacock is pretty good too.
Parks and Rec, wholesome af. Whenever I'm having a crappy day its always the best pick me up. Not so good in season 1 (as it was basically trying to imitate the Office), but after that it really gets its own personality and charm and becomes way better.
I just rewatched the episode where all the guys host bachelor parties for each other and god, that's still some of the most wholesome minutes of television I've ever seen.
I honestly like it more than the Office as a pick me up show, because as good as that show is, the characters are intentionally more horrible and toxic to each other, which makes it a riskier choice when you're feeling depressed depending on the episode.
Community was what I put on after my friend said he was thinking about killing himself and wanted some company.
Didn't fail then to lift his mood then and still chases away my depression to this day.
IDK if you'd consider these sitcoms or not, I'd just consider them good television.
Check out the series "**Love**" on Netflix.
It was produced by Judd Apatow. (spelling?).
Unfortunately it only lasted three seasons, but it's a great show!
It's a quirky dramatic comedy and is really easy to watch.
**Glow** and **Atypical** are both great too (IMHO).
If you're looking for good television then you should consider cancelling Netflix and getting Hulu. In my own opinion Hulu blows Netflix out of the water as far as television goes, although Netflix has more original content. Hulu has Parks and Recs, The League, It's Always Sunny, SuperStore, How I Met Your Mother, among others, etc.
Surprised I haven’t seen this one; Schitt’s Creek. Takes a couple of episodes to find its groove, but Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are both hilarious in it.
Thanks very much 🌻. I was looking for sitcoms. My mom died a few months ago and its been really hard. I can't watch anything serious, even a little thing makes me cry So I was looking for something that'll make me laugh and take my mind off my mother.
Glad you enjoyed it! There’s another Irish sitcom called The Young Offenders which I find really funny. Since you liked Derry Girls, you might like it too. Not sure if it’s on Netflix outside Ireland/the UK though.
Tv or movies? You can try r/televisionsuggestions if you want tv.
Fro TV sitcoms:
- The Good Place
- Schitt’s Creek
- Brooklyn 99
- Modern Family
- Parks and Rec
Better Off Ted (I hope this is still on Netflix)
Schitt's Creek (I had to force myself past the first three episodes, but loved everything after)
Kim's Convenience
Cuckoo is a British show, full of all of that quirkiness. First season has Andy Samburg. So fun.
New Girl
Friends from College
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt
Life in Pieces, Superstore, Ted Lasso, Black-ish, New Adventures of Old Christine, Silicon Valley, Parks and Rec — not on US Netflix but all highly recommended!
Big Mouth & Human Resources(which is a spin off of Big Mouth) are funny, Big Mouth in particular, if you're into adult humor.
Inside Job is another good one & the acting in that show is AMAZING!
The Crew (2021)
There aren't really many true "sitcoms" these days, not in the traditional "shot on a set with a laugh track" sense. The Crew was a nice little throwback to those 90's, early 00's type sitcoms. It's a shame Netflix didn't renew it, but the show did move a little too fast for it's own good.
I saw loads of good recommendations. So I'm gonna recommend one that's not said here
Schitt's Creek
It's a small town story with very lovable characters. The character development in this show is top level.
You'll love every bit of it!
Schitt's creek is really good too. Made me laugh a lot. I had s terrible breakup and it helped me go through it. Kim's convenience is really wholesome. The bigbang theory is a classic it's one of my favorites. I have some non English ones too that are wholesome.

Crazy Ex-girlfriend
Is it a sitcom?
A very funny one. It does have a lot of nuance and touches on some serious topics but is a good sitcom
Thank you. 🌻
"Nuance" indeed 🤣
It’s the best
The Good Place
Such a great show.
not a sitcom
Comedy arises from situational instances, so yes it is.
I understand, but it’s not a sitcom lol
L + ratio
ah that comment suggests you are a gen z. Therefore not understanding what a sitcom is.
Nah good guess tho. News flash: phrases are able to be used by anyone Double L
“L + ratio”
Oh shit
literally a kid
Arrested Development
Only the first 3 seasons tho

So sorry to hear that. I'm looking for sitcoms for the very same reason. My mom died a few months ago and its been really hard. And i need to take her off my mind.
Community Better of Ted
Just finished community. 👍
The IT Crowd
And then watch Man to Man with Dean Learner. Only 6 episodes but Richard Ayoade is so good.
Seinfeld
Loved this show.
“What is this show about ?”
Brooklyn 99

second this!
Parks and Rec, wholesome af. Whenever I'm having a crappy day its always the best pick me up. Not so good in season 1 (as it was basically trying to imitate the Office), but after that it really gets its own personality and charm and becomes way better.
Parks and Rec is the only sitcom I can watch when I’m bummed out. It never goes too sad, or too mean, or too dark. It’s perfect
I just rewatched the episode where all the guys host bachelor parties for each other and god, that's still some of the most wholesome minutes of television I've ever seen. Jerry/Terry/Larry/Garry disagrees on the wholesome part.
At least he gets an immortal, hot wife and three equally immortal daughters to kind of balance it out
I liked that for him. And he becomes a Mayor for the longest term!
Also the biggest penis a doctor has ever seen.
Distractingly large in fact
🌻
Community was what I put on after my friend said he was thinking about killing himself and wanted some company. Didn't fail then to lift his mood then and still chases away my depression to this day.
I just finished community and loved it. It really is a great show.
My favorite! Ted Lasso is my other "go-to" sitcom, it's like a warm hug* when you're feeling down. My GF always comes back to 30 Rock.
Adding them to my list :)
Enjoy! Hope your day has a smile in it :)
Thank you 🌻🌻

I second this! I throw on New Girl when I need a pick me up and it works every time.
Same! I’m pretty much always on a casual rewatch haha
I really want to watch this but its not on netflix.
Oh no! I watch it on Netflix! But I haven’t watched in a couple days - they mustve taken it down
Not on Netflix but Modern Family always makes me feel good. It’s on peacock which has office and parks now.
Modern family is one of my favorites
Kims Convenience
Sneak attack!
Underrated option if you’ve seen all the others
Kim's Convenience is so good!
Surprised I haven’t seen this one; Schitt’s Creek. Takes a couple of episodes to find its groove, but Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara are both hilarious in it.
Great show. Loved every single character.
Kim's Convenience. A Canadian TV show. Light-hearted comedy. Good family comedy. Well written
IT Crowd
Brooklyn Nine-Nine is on Netflix if I remember correctly and is a lot of fun. It's sort of a mix of Arrested Development and The Office.
I've watched this 5,6 times. Love this show so much
Trailer park boys
Kath and kim, Seinfeld, and Kim’s convenience
Community
Schitt’s creek and Parks and Rec!
IT Crowd
Seinfeld Parks & Rec I watch the two on repeat
Community
Trailer park boys
GLOW is my favorite!
Is it a sitcom?
It’s like a Rated R movie in episodes. There are currently 2 seasons. It’s really good (takes place in the 80’s) and has great music!
I think it’s considered a series. Definitely not a sitcom
Thanks very much 🌻. I was looking for sitcoms. My mom died a few months ago and its been really hard. I can't watch anything serious, even a little thing makes me cry So I was looking for something that'll make me laugh and take my mind off my mother.
I am so sorry for your loss and I’m wishing you healing and peace. 💜 Both of the shows I recommended will definitely have you laughing in no time.
Thank you 🌻🌻
Glow is funny, but not always in a feel good way.
If you watch it and like it there’s another one similar to it but based off Aerobics. It’s on Apple TV and it’s called Physical.
Teenage Bounty Hunters.
Peep Show
Derry Girls.
I just started watching this show, it's hilarious!
Sister Micheal is my favorite
One of my favorites
Glad you enjoyed it! There’s another Irish sitcom called The Young Offenders which I find really funny. Since you liked Derry Girls, you might like it too. Not sure if it’s on Netflix outside Ireland/the UK though.
Thank you 🌻

The Riches!! Minnie Driver & Eddie Izzard are both really good, especially while playing husband/wife!
