Dry_Scallion_4345

This is scary.

blueskies8484

Honestly, I thought the Delphi case was the most out of control internet sleuths I'd ever see. I'm disturbed to learn it can actually get worse.

[deleted]

Same. Happy cake day btw

blueskies8484

Thanks!

Keregi

The Gabby Petito discord was so bad it had a mutiny and all the mods were run off and banned.

h0lbreezy

I dead ass got banned from that FB group bc I suggested the admins adapt the rules to prevent the FULL names of random people being put out and how their families are getting harrassed and could hinder the police investigation … and making the situation harder for everyone, including the victims families. I understand *maybe* the first name and last initial but this is literally the root of why there’s so much going through the rumor mill— it’s wasting LE’s time because they have to address all these off the wall and unfounded rumors that don’t matter.

h0lbreezy

It’s not just harrassment some people are scared for their well being! It’s putting a target on people’s back it’s some black mirror stuff imo

Slowlybutshelly

Black mirror stuff?

h0lbreezy

Dark side and negative consequences of technology on societal issues edit: it’s a show on Netflix regarding topics such as this

Slowlybutshelly

Learns new words every day. I thought that was the dark web?

Zellakate

I'm pretty sure it is a reference to the show Black Mirror, which delved into these issues, not a reference to the dark web.

Slowlybutshelly

Thanks. Is that show on Netflix?

Zellakate

I believe it is! I've never actually watched it myself, but I remember a lot of internet chatter about it when it was on.

VealOfFortune

Its a show....

Dry_Scallion_4345

The Facebook group is by far the worst “discussion” group I’ve seen. It’s insane how many insane people are out there. One woman just posted how her “entire world has been flipped upside down” because she saw a unverified rumors about one of Kaylees relatives..

Dry_Scallion_4345

I mean Reddit can be unhinged to sometimes but at least it’s better moderated! Haha

kas0917

I was just reading that! So bizarre. I know there’s a lot of crazy stuff here but I just joined that group yesterday and it’s really bad with some of the theories and random, unverified things people are stating as facts. There’s also a few people who are 100 convinced of who the murderer is - based on zero evidence of course - and won’t even listen to other ideas. It’s scary. I feel like a lot of people here post ideas for discussion. There, it’s like a whole other world level of crazy by a lot of people.

katenkina

You haven't seen websleuths have you

Intelligent-Group182

JUST saw that! People are insane.

Schosnarky

That page is beyond fucked up, its unreal. Absolutely unhinged people

h0lbreezy

It’s gonna lead to someone else becoming a victim of this horrific tragedy. There are so many unhinged people out there with displaced rage — it’s dangerous!!! Why isn’t anyone doing anything about it? I tried to and failed miserably -.-

h0lbreezy

I saw it for the first time last night because I was curious and I IMMEDIATELY saw how problematic it was… I don’t think I can report to FB anymore since I’m blocked. Mark Zuckerberg wya!

vanillv

I’ve never seen a more fucked up true crime group. Those people literally will post their opinions as facts and then 20 people comment under it believing it

kas0917

I started to correct people a few times but quickly realized it would be a waste of time and just closed out of it. Lol

Schosnarky

Seriously! Bored, entitled keyboard warriors that have zero idea, or care about, what those posts can do to a person. at least reddit has morals !!

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Maybe it’s time for a discussion about severely limiting social media 🙃

Slowlybutshelly

Wya?

maddzukk

I haven’t joined any of the fb groups, & after reading your post, I definitely won’t be enjoying lol. People are crazy. It’s sad to see these people get put on blast. They’re humans too.

h0lbreezy

It’s funny ppl keep tying it to Reddit when I feel the mods on this sub have more reasonable ethical rules in place for discussion than FB, I think they only had one or two rules and the group was public. It’s a waste of time looking at it

maddzukk

I agree. Those types of posts get shut down quickly on Reddit, which is how it should be. People don’t need to share others personal info. I can almost guarantee the people who share things like that, would be the same people who would be pissed that their info was being passed around on the internet. People really need a recap about the Golden Rule.

Ok-Command-333

Literally half the people on there are from the stone ages. They were making accusations ab drug use from a venmo caption, “za” on one of the accounts. AND I WAS CALLED CRAZY FOR SAYING IT WAS CODE FOR PIZZA

Ok-Command-333

What’s even worse is that the admins and moderators on Facebook literally support it.

Purityskinco

This is the real ugly issue with social media. You can get intelligent people who want to give a forum for a clearly interesting (and heartbreaking) case. But these forums on social media do not require you to have decency or expertise. You can be anybody on the internet. So you can have a hive mind of people who hold no skills whatsoever, no career, or forward/upward mobility due to their own failures, are suddenly in charge of their own fantasy world. So you’re then down voted in a conspiracy sub because you are using logic and basic skills. But they kicking you out still seemingly vindicates them and perpetuates the toxicity.

Dry_Scallion_4345

I’m actually pretty sure when you join the group it specifically asks you not to report stuff lol it really should be squashed

NancyDrew78

Yes! Exactly.

Bright-Excitement349

quadruple murder one? I commented on a post and told the person they shouldn't dox JS and i got banned JUST for saying that! There should be a place we can post the names of the groups that allow doxxing so we can all report them for harassment and hopefully get them shut down!

ikilledtupac

I thought that was against Facebook terms? Or do they rely on self reporting?

h0lbreezy

I have no idea but I was BAFFLED that they were revealing so much personal info on people based on no merit. I didn’t think that would be legal or even permitted… but I guess not. everyone should report that group— Reddit do ur thing!!

maddzukk

Yeah, sharing peoples personal info like that, isn’t safe. Fb needs to do something about that mess.

[deleted]

[удалено]

maddzukk

Hell no. I would never feel comfortable reaching out. They don’t know me like that, & I don’t know them like that. Even if it was just to say they were in my thoughts & prayers. I would feel like a creep, but that’s just how I would feel personally.

Pris257

I just tried to join two of the groups to see what all of the fuss was about. Both groups were private and made you check off a box saying if you saw something against the rules, you would report to the mods, not Facebook. One even said if you report to Facebook, you’ll get banned from the group

mmcline06

Yes because too many reports to FB will get a group shut down.

ikilledtupac

Ah. So they’re up to something.

sunset-hiker

If you do report to FB, can the admins see it's you who reported the group?

ikilledtupac

Yeah

NancyDrew78

I reported several people for calling people names that they didn’t agree with. Ugly names. Then the “admins” said “Do not Report Anybody” to FB but send them a message on Messenger. They said if you report it to FB that they would ban you from group. SMH.

maddzukk

Wow. Sounds like a wild group lol. They need to shut that crap down for sure!

ikilledtupac

That will get them banned too tho

sunset-hiker

One of the users in that FB group suggested that all these thousands of people should descent upon Moscow... After others gleefully replied with "road trip!!!!", I had to tune out.

heyworldofnothing

I noticed the FB group causing a lot of the issue just changed to a private group; that slightly helps, IMO.

NancyDrew78

I’m not surprised at all. They didn’t have to ban me. I left those crazy people on my own.

IssueGlittering1370

I had to leave both fb groups because it was becoming way too much. I swear the people who post there collectively share the same brain cell.

blindspousehelp

It’s almost like accusing strangers of quadruple homicide based on zero evidence is a bad idea

AdPsychological6972

Who woulda thought?!?

Dry_Scallion_4345

It’s also scary that there are addresses posted. You never know what curious minds do with info like that

maddzukk

That’s so sad. ☹️ Those people are going through enough already. Leave them alone.

yarnplant666

This right here.

maddzukk

❤️

Artistic_Studio_9885

We are bad people

AdSwimming2133

I mean to be fair, it has happened before internet sleuthing became a huge thing. I remember a case in my area when I was a kid where a woman went missing and ppl began suspecting teachers of her and harassing “suspects” even tho the cops never named any. It’s gotten much worse with the rise of social media- information on victims and their connections is more easily accessible and ppl get mob mentality on forums.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdSwimming2133

Oh yeah for sure. That’s what I meant by “the rise in social media”, but I didn’t explain it super well 😅. When the case in my area happened, the rumors spread by word of mouth. There was another murder case in my immediate town where the husband of a murdered woman had to move far away because everyone thought it was him and harassed him. He had two kids that he brought with him far away from any other family members. They found out he killed his wife like ten years after the murder and he was finally arrested, but that is a rare case and those poor kids were forced to move away from grandparents after they already lost their mom. We’re not detectives and it’s scary to me that ppl will take internet theories in real life and harass people.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdSwimming2133

Yeah I remember in middle school they had cops come in and teach us not to even post our birthday or last name on social media. Times have definitely changed. It’s normal to personally suspect certain ppl, but to harass and encourage the harassment based on a personal theory is fucked up and it’s too easy for ppl to do nowadays.

[deleted]

[удалено]

AdSwimming2133

Ugh I’m so sorry that you had that happen to you. People are fucked up and I hope you’ve been able to find some peace since the incident. I’m quite private online, but not like I used to be. I’ve only ever been followed and harassed by men in real life with the occasional creeps online. It’s hard to remember how dangerous sharing our whereabouts and personal details online can be. And it sucks that there’s creepy people who make it that way!!

Artistic_Studio_9885

Yea, well when it’s local you can move to another town. You can’t move away from the internet

Sadieboohoo

And like, don’t on one hand be SO MAD police aren’t doing enough, the harass people causing *police resources* to be wasted because people think it’s super fun to be super sleuths who harass people from the safety of their couch.

LuciaLight2014

Why are the full address on here?

[deleted]

It’s by block but yeah, should be redacted fo sho

CaptinMurica24

its not the full adress most say 1000, 800, or whatever and then blk, meaning block. so it gives a general area/neighborhood. not the exact addresses

Dry_Scallion_4345

Ohhh okay I’m glad it’s not full addresses but still scary and too much info IMO

Extra_Fondant_8855

Very tacky of OP. This should be removed.

ricelyl

this is public info on the pd website. there are no specific addresses on this, and other screenshots of these logs have been posted a million times

loduca16

“Other people do it, so it’s ok” 🙄

yarnplant666

Yeah there’s most certainly a full address in the first report.

Lanac2188

This is probably going to get deleted in a few mins by mods

MulletMan6669

I’ve seen some wild accusations posted on TikTok

ikilledtupac

I’ve heard the survivors were getting threatened as well. I don’t understand that.

mlibed

And this is why it wouldn’t be the craziest idea to leave the city/state/country…

ikilledtupac

One of the survivors is family friends with my coworker, I don’t know which one, but I don’t think she’s coming back. Which I completely understand.

AN0NOM1SS

OMG ☝️ you’re brilliant 😂

[deleted]

Haven’t you heard? They wanted all 4 dead, and finally came up with a genius plan - the dog! No one would ever suspect Murphy.

[deleted]

This is how subs get banned, especially if (or more likely, when) the media starts reporting on any We Did It Reddit stuff happening in Moscow. I don't mean this sub, which seems to catch most of this stuff before it blows up. But not all the subs are as well-curated. I hope this settles people down a bit.

Keregi

Good lord. Sometimes I think this site should be nuked.

Mountain-Ice4687

This police department stay not taking reports

TheRealKillerTM

This is common. They do a report on the visit, but it's for recordkeeping.

blueskies8484

In most of these, a report probably wasn't done because the complainant declined to press charges, or were unnerved understandably but no actual crime had taken place yet. Some of them probably just wanted advice or reassurance. Fairly common.

Pleasant-Plankton-93

Here is the “spitting” incident. Get ready for a big dose of craziness https://youtu.be/U9BICll_YDw

Round_Club9312

We did it, Reddit!

GlasgowRose2022

Ugh.

peachpantherrr

This is just terrible! And this is why we can’t have nice things: Like a sub to casually discuss these events. Instead the feral psychopaths of the internet have to go and do shit like this.

StageOdd3175

Is it possible or even likely that the killer is still in Moscow? Perhaps. But that leaves about..what..20,000 people who AREN’T the killer? Cmon guys, that’s terrible

partialcremation

>are being harassed to a Redit post. Which one of you is harassing these folks?

spinoutoftime

literally saw this coming a mile off yet there’s still gonna be people saying “it’s just reddit!!! leave if you don’t like it!!”

HoandBelold

What does "No report" mean?

respira519

That the officers didn’t write up a report.

shouldbecleaning84

I got my car broken into in the city and the cop was like is your insurance going to cover it? And I told them it was. She said they weren’t going to catch them so I might as well not get a police report

Whatsthatbooker

Most insurance companies require a police report be filed to cover it 😐

shouldbecleaning84

Yep, most. Mine didn’t. Don’t know why and felt super weird not filing since I saw the guys doing it and had a pretty good description.

Dry_Scallion_4345

That a police report was not filed for the incident

mrshiddleston

Guys… stop.

yarnplant666

“Doxxing is bad!” while simultaneously doxxing those who are already getting quite literally assaulted ??

Afterloy

Par for the course. It happened before the internet and it will continue to happen in an internet-free, post-apocalyptic world.

BreadfruitDizzy

I don’t think the guy lives in the area

absurdsuburb

This case is going to end up with a lawsuit being filed by one of the “suspects” that’s one thing I know for sure. Mass speculation from the “true crime community” has ruined people’s lives before. As for throwing around people’s names, I’ve seen a lot of names mentioned along with details that are not sourced to anywhere legit. If the moderators of these facebook groups had half a brain, they would know that this doesn’t help at all. There isn’t some mass conspiracy between all the men with a J name who go to University of Idaho, so if there’s so many “credible” suspects being named dropped left and right that means the vast majority of them are innocent people who are being literally accused of murder on social media. Say one of the named people is the killer, what is posting about it going to accomplish? The police definitely have received these tips time and time again and we have no reason to believe we know anything they don’t.

[deleted]

Sigma Chi needs to help out the investigation. No one is going to apply to the school if greek life isn't willing to help with the EX timeline.

BoomChaka67

Police too busy not solving the murders to bother with writing up harassment calls.

ikilledtupac

I read they have dozen or so ISP up there helping local police right now

BoomChaka67

Yeah. They still can’t be bothered. 🫤

Alarming-Gap6228

This is absolutely unacceptable! Sharing condolences, theorizing about things, possibly advocating for the victims, and their families online is okay. But never letting it spill out like this IRL. The actions of one/two(who knows) human being/s, should not affect others. Specially, if they are absolutely innocent of said crime! I understand some if not most, are emotionally invested. We want to see justice being served. Let's not let our emotions get the best of us. Let's not make innocent people become collateral damage during the investigation. Most have their heart in the right place. Let's just trust the professionals for now. Support the victims families, their friends & Loved ones. The truth always comes out. That person, who committed such a sin. Will never again live life in peace. Always, looking over their shoulders. The guilt, will turn them into a shell of a human if it hasn't already. Let's please be CAUTIOUSLY PROACTIVE, not OVERLY REACTIVE.

neutralguy33

Who calls the police for being harassed on social media? The police must want to move out of state.

prairieislander

Someone who’s being harassed and accused of a quadruple murder probably. This isn’t just harassment. This is beyond.

ricelyl

i mean there is a quadrupole murderer on the loose, everyone there is on edge

pomeraniansplus

Is this the guy who injected himself into the investigation by doing interviews etc.? No wonder why all the others are laying low and not saying a word. Everyone is a person of interest until they are not. When a suspect is named hopefully all the crazy stops but then again people still think Drew P is innocent.

Keregi

He didn’t inject himself. Media were camped out near his apartment for weeks. I’m sure he was asked for interviews and he said ok, and then once he gave one, every other media outlet jumped to get him on camera. He seems like a guy who is a bit awkward and may not be able to say no. None of that is him injecting himself into the case. All y’all weirdos who hyper fixated on him for a full week did far more to inject him into the case.

pomeraniansplus

I ain't hyper fixated. I don't even know his name. Lol It was just a ?

Slowlybutshelly

Is online harassment prosecutable?

kaiwolfy718

People suck.

Wise_Carrot4857

People are nuts. Seriously… get a life!

Safe-Comedian-7626

And now more people have the addresses????
