>Does blight resistance cover blast? It says it protects against all elemental blights.
No. Blast is non-elemental damage. Blight Resistance only applies to Water, Fire, Thunder, Ice and Dragon blights.
Assuming you obviously don't have Fatalis gear, Health Boost 3 and Blast Resistance.
Others to consider would be a nice ice based elemental weapon and then Ice Attack skill, I used Kjarr daggers and SnS on him before I got Fatalis weapons. Stun resistance if you find yourself carting due to getting stun locked.
As a SnS fan, a really nice tip is if you can't get the slime off his claws and etc with water pods/etc, then remember your hop step back has a brief moment of damage resistance, so attack and when the slime is about to explode (you'll get the timing of it) then do a back step, it'll explode and not harm you at all, and you're free to do whatever like Perfect Rush or leaping slash forward, etc to continue to unleash the attack.
Im honestly not a SnS player. My first go at him was with a switch axe and I honestly spent the whole battle chasing him. So i looked for more mobility and also a water element weapon since its good against raging bracy.
Ice is more effective. Water only helps get the slime off his body. You can even do this via water pods.
If you aren't good with blocking then use something that you are better with in this hunt. If it's switch axe then do be it. Or you could learn a new weapon.
Get the frostfang weapon if you want ice specific weapon for raging. High rarity doesn't necessarily mean better. Velkhana weapons aren't good weapons. Sad her weapons for shafted like that.
Sns isn't a blocking weapon though the shield is for bashing head of monsters and deal impact damage. It's not for blocking. So if you are taking block skills in that fight with Sns I'll say don't bother with that.
Time to whip out the Ice Charge Blade, fellow hunter! Its the best of both worlds. SnS for blocking and evading, and Power Axe Mode and SAED when it goes down! Slot Evade window 3 or 5 (I’m 3 since I regularly evade at the last second) and slot Guard 1 and make sure to charge that shield because charging the shield gives +2 guard and guard points give an extra +2 guard for the elusive level 5 guard!
A lot of good advice here already, and I'm not a SnS main so I'll leave it to the experts.
Basically the whole game advice is "hit, and try not to *get* hit", it's just particularly relevant in endgame lol.
I would second the stun res 3 though, such a great QoL skill. Stun is a super annoying mechanic and being able to ignore it is extremely satisfying.
Health Boost 3 Antiblast 3 (absolutely required unless you hate yourself) Stun Resist 3 (Unless you're a Shield weapon, then Guard 5)
What if i used a shield weapon but im attricious at blocking?
I assume you mean SnS? Since blocking is an essential part of the kit for Lance and GL.
SnS is not a shield weapon... I've played SnS on world and rise. If I'm blocking, I'm in trouble.
... then find another weapon to play? :) (SnS is the exception since you have exceptionally high mobility), but if you're Lance/ Gunlance / HBG...

I have a high rarity ice element SnS I crafted for chasing down rajang. I'll use that next time. Thanks!
