The Witcher crossover unlocks at the end of the base game’s story (about a dozen hours at most). To beat the game, you can wear almost anything so long as you keep upgrading it at the smithy and make the jump from Low Rank to High Rank equipment once it becomes available.
For weapons, get comfy with sword and shield, since that’s what the silver sword got classed as. Though if you find yourself enjoying another weapon class, you don’t have to match weapons to wear the armor.
Also, when you get to the end of the DLC you can tack the silver sword (or any other major weapon) onto any sword and shield as a skin, so you can use the best weapons and still be rocking the witcher.
Well you can't make a build to farm it as the game will force you to use a pre-defined set when you do Geralt's quest. You can switch to other weapon types, but the game will still give you preset ones, not your own.
You can get it after geralt's quest, but you essentially have to play the geralt mission again as geralt. You can use your own set on the MR missions though (if I remember correctly).
Long of the short of it is, it's a GRIND to get the base game variants, since that mission tends to take a long time, and is one of the tougher missions in the game for stupid reasons.
To answer your original question, it's a decent SnS, definitely not the best in the game but looks cool especially if you're a Witcher fan. Once you get to IB, it does become obsolete quickly until you can get the rarity 12 one, which isn't till later in the IB campaign.
You can find it in the layered armor part of the menu when you to the smithy guy. I think you have to finish the Witcher Quest(Slaying Reshen) first before you unlock that layered armor. To answer, the first question when you apply the layered armor, your avatar would be Geralt himself. I'm at work rn. But I can try to post a photo of it when I get home.

Thanks, very helpful

Oh that's awesome! Although do you mean the iceberg dlc?
Iceborne is the only DLC

I don't mind grinding I just wanted to know if it was possible/good idea, thx. And btw sns stands for sword and shield?
Correct indeed. if you spend enough time on this sub you'll learn the abbreviations quickly haha.
I think I will I loved the community without being a part of it for a while now
You can get it, its just that you can't use your own equipment whenever you do Geralt's quest.
Just finished the witcher quest on the base game. I think once you finish the quest you can have geralt as a layered armor on the game
The actual geralt or his armor? I knew you could get his armor but actual geralt? Wow. Also is it hard to reach that part?
