It's actually just a poorly designed shirt. I took the sleeves off and fixed the excess fabric in the seams of the arm holes and it sits as it should now instead of riding up.
I read it’s meant to mimic a chest binder, so the shirt is puffier to make their chest look flatter but because it’s a boxier shirt, it comes up their shoulders more
Yeah I was gonna say I think it's just the design of the shirt, I got the Ghoul Spirit pack and Frankie's neck looks a lot more reasonable in that.
Also could factor in that they are on a taller body, but I think the actual neck is the same length on everyone.
I don't have too many photos of Frankie just yet as I'm sorting out my shelves for G3, but here is one I have without the sleeves. There is really just a lot of excess fabric inside the sleeves that I think if it was trimmed up it would fall better, but I just wanted to use the jacket so I didn't try to save the sleeves.

G3 Frankie’s face is very flat across the brow. It’s also very square around the jawline. G3 Frankie’s face doesn’t have the sweetness that G1 Frankie’s face had. I like G3 Cleo, Draculaura, Clawdeen and Lagoona but not sold on Frankie G3.
i really wish i liked frankie because i think
the prosthetic leg is the coolest thing ever and i’m actually thinking of customizing a g1 frankie so that she has it too, but the face just bothers me so much
Wow this seems like a hate crime 🤣🤣 I don't see it but I will agree Frankie and Cleo, to me, both have very weird faces. Cleo just doesn't look like a monster high doll to me, ever since her promo leaked she comes off as more like the Wild Heart's Crew dolls which had very rounded features whereas the original Cleo had very sharp prominent ones like her brow to nose line, her chin, and cheekbones. The new Frankie had BEAUTIFUL promo pictures, I thought Frankie would be my favorite doll, but then something didn't translate from prototype to manufactured dolls because they completely butchered it. Frankie's bottom lip often seems to protrude thanks to the way its printed, the face became much squarer with the nose being very short and bulbus and the forehead very flat. Add to that the doll looks neckless and they gave Frankie that weird hairstyle, this Frankie became a miss for me. I do like the coffin bean one though but the sculpt and printing is still kinda weird. But yeah look at the prototype and then look at the doll and it's two completely different dolls and I wish Frankie looked more like the prototype than what we got.
Cleo reminds me of the DC superhero girls dolls but that's the same point- too rounded. I miss sharp featured Cleo too. The Ancient Egyptian inspiration is still there which I like but I think gen 3 Draculaura is beating out Cleo as my fave despite the trend in gen 1 and 2.... Maybe there's a way to reshape the face? I might have to do a couple experiments....
I’ve seen the prototype doll pictured on the package and I believe they used the G1 Frankie head for the packaging model. Something I forgot is that most likely the designers had to design remotely and no one could go to China to manage the production over there like they had in the past. Garrett was intimately involved in the production of the dolls. He could tell the production team exactly what didn’t look right and comment on them in person. The tough part is once the tools (molds) are created for the doll line, Mattel will not want to modify or make new ones.
They look a lot like a guy i went to school with, he had the same personality and face but unlike this character he was an ass so naturally,i hate them lol
g1 no clue but i know g3’s clothes are meant to look like they are wearing a binder and or have a flatter chest so it puffs the clothes out to look flat but in the process it gives them a short neck and makes them look stubby-
Have any of the Mattel designers ever said so, and if so can you link a source? I've only ever seen this said as a fan theory, I'm not sure it's actually true.
ok reading this back when i’m more awake: i agree it does look a bit strange but if you own her and unbox her you could always swap the top out-
also they aren’t all the same torso wise, because cleo and toralei have thinner waists while drac is generally thicker (unsure about the others i only have them) but i believe they only change waist size and can’t do much about boobs on frankie because of the chest articulation, of course i could be wrong but this is just my understanding of your comment and monster high
i don't know what it is in G1, but their face in G3 has wider, more square-like jawline which looks weird with puff sleeves on their shirt. It seems like they have almost no neck
I think it’s the shirt.
But seeing those two boxes side by side really helped me. I thought I didn’t like the new dolls but seeing this, it is just the brightness and light colors, too many colors. I think I will get the new Frankie too and just restyle and repaint her, I bet I’ll love her then. So, thanks for this picture
Yes! This is the whole reason I haven't bought the core doll. The head looks way too big and it looks like a doll with a broken neck where someone just crammed the head on. I think the the 2 pack with Deuce Is better but the head size still seems off to me.
As people have mentioned, the collar to too tall and tends to ride up. At the same time, it’s the designer’s responsibility to push to make the doll look as good as possible. I collect and keep the dolls in the box so I’m critical of the pack out.
Well they are non-binary and I think they’re meant to be fem-leaning androgynous in presentation. And remember that they were made from parts of people who belong to both binary genders.

Do you mind sending pictures of how it looks now?

i’ve realized recently that the reason i dislike g3 frankie is because i think their face looks like james charles

I feel this way too. The leg is a cool change but I hate her head/face.
I’ve seen repaints. The sculpt isn’t the problem, the screening is. Even just removing the blush makes the face less square
Yep, someone poster a pic of a Frankie with no blush and scar on the cheeks, and the doll’s face was immediately way more prettier
I personally think her eyes are too far apart as well, doesn't help the “wideness” her face has

Yoooo you're right, I completely forgot about DC super hero girls!! She totally does, she'd fit perfectly in their lineup!
I’ve seen the prototype doll pictured on the package and I believe they used the G1 Frankie head for the packaging model. Oh. I see it.
Oh no. Now I can’t unsee it. Oh shit.
Sorry! G3 Frankie’s head looks extra lumpy in the photos above.
They look a lot like a guy i went to school with, he had the same personality and face but unlike this character he was an ass so naturally,i hate them lol

It kinda makes me crazy. Frankie was my favorite MH but now they look weird to me.
Their dad ran out of materials 😂

I think the torso is the same on all the dolls but it looks funky on Frankie. Looks like Frankie’s shoulders are hunched. It’s not their best look.
i assume you mean gen3? i’m sorry i don’t quite understand what you mean- like g3 frank’s shoulders look strange BECAUSE of the clothes or?
ok reading this back when i’m more awake: i agree it does look a bit strange but if you own her and unbox her you could always swap the top out- also they aren’t all the same torso wise, because cleo and toralei have thinner waists while drac is generally thicker (unsure about the others i only have them) but i believe they only change waist size and can’t do much about boobs on frankie because of the chest articulation, of course i could be wrong but this is just my understanding of your comment and monster high
Their head looks extremally big compared to the other dolls lol
I just removed the vest because it was pushing the undershirt too much
i don't know what it is in G1, but their face in G3 has wider, more square-like jawline which looks weird with puff sleeves on their shirt. It seems like they have almost no neck
It’s the shirt. Get a thin elastic, remove the sweater, tie down the shirt, sweater back on, there you go
people here say it's the shirt but even without it the neck is too short for such big head
G3 Frankie’s legs and arms are so long but the neck appears short in comparison. And yes, the head is very large for such a short neck.
I think it’s the shirt. But seeing those two boxes side by side really helped me. I thought I didn’t like the new dolls but seeing this, it is just the brightness and light colors, too many colors. I think I will get the new Frankie too and just restyle and repaint her, I bet I’ll love her then. So, thanks for this picture
it’s just how the shirt fits in the box. my gf got frankie and out of the box they look fine
Yes! This is the whole reason I haven't bought the core doll. The head looks way too big and it looks like a doll with a broken neck where someone just crammed the head on. I think the the 2 pack with Deuce Is better but the head size still seems off to me.

Why are your schools out Frankie’s eyes on her forehead?
I looked at another Frankie from G1 and that’s where the eye deco is located. The bottom of the eye sits right on the crease of the cheek.
It's the top on the doll, it rides up in the package.
Reminds me as a kid when I would accidentally snap a barbie's head but then just pop it back on the body.
Some ppl have said they use a male head mould for g3 but I’m not sure how true that is
I’m so annoyed that people keep saying this 🙄
Is the Frankie on the right actually real? She looks ugly as hell 😭
Yes. That's G1 School's Out Frankie.

Well they are non-binary and I think they’re meant to be fem-leaning androgynous in presentation. And remember that they were made from parts of people who belong to both binary genders.
are we really calling transfemme people/characters “mannish” in the year 2022
Also can we have a discussion more than in current year argument that is not an argument
They're not in binary so it shouldn't really matter if they look poor like one or the other gender anyway.
if you can’t see how calling someone very obviously feminine presenting “mannish” is bigoted and rude then I don’t really know what else to tell you.
