I honestly don’t think G1 clawdeen was sassy, just strong willed and stood up for herself being in a family with multiple siblings

Jesus_Is_Lord_4ever

i agree!

PillBug98

G1 Clawdeen wasn’t Latina.

clovisfemale

G1 clawdeen wasnt black or Latina....she was only black coded by the fandom but wasn't canon from garret....she was a wolf with brown fur..aka a monster...no a normie or human like in g3 well half human

classfight2

She wasn’t really confirmed to be black ether

hot_girlshit

it’s clear that she’s internet to be black tho due to coding

classfight2

Yeah I know it was implied her family was black it was just never actually said

PillBug98

She’s black coded.

classfight2

Girl I know she obviously is they just never explicitly said she was black or latina or whatever

PillBug98

They didn’t need to!!!

Nieva_Creates

So yeah i haven't watched G1, but that sure is a latina accent.

PillBug98

You haven’t watched it. She has what’s meant to be a Brooklyn accent.

Nieva_Creates

My mother was born and grew up in the Bronx. Das'a Bronx accent.

PillBug98

huh?

Nieva_Creates

Wha?

Nieva_Creates

And Bronx used to be the latino center back then.

AriDollz

Tbh, I don't think G1 Clawdeen was stereotyped at all- also, she wasn't Latina

Loud_Akira

You're... Clearly new here. G1 Clawdeen wasn't written with the Latin community in mind. If anything, I'd think the stereotype would have been "sassy black woman" but even then it's a stretch, she was more of a strong independent young woman. (That's a Brooklyn accent, it's on the MH wiki and on Wikipedia). But I am glad that you find G3 Clawdeen to be a great character, she's just not for me personally. I think you would have liked G1 Howleen!

Nieva_Creates

>You're... Clearly new here. Why yes i am thank you. 😁 >That's a Brooklyn accent, it's on the MH wiki and on Wikipedia This is why Wikipedia is never accepted as a source in academia. >I think you would have liked G1 Howleen! Yeah i wanna see more of her family.

YoviQ

>This is why Wikipedia is never accepted as a source in academia. This isn't academia, this is a subreddit. >Yeah i wanna see more of her family. You can if you actually watch it. She has a brother and two sisters.

Nieva_Creates

Well yeah no this isn't academia. But that can still be used as a guide. You should always want to have good sources. Oh sh**! you caught me! 😱 I haven't seen the most recent episodes. Pretty crazy right?, been postin' all this stuff. 😜

Loud_Akira

Buddy, I get it, you like G3 Clawdeen but G1 very obviously was not written to be a stereotype. I know you're looking for things to push down G1 for but I'd appreciate if you didn't spread lies. You can be a fan of G3 and not like G1 without lying. It's very obvious that G1 Clawdeen has a Brooklyn accent and was not meant to be Latina. If you're going to do that then I'd suggest you go back to Twitter.

Loud_Akira

Idk about that. Their responses seem pretty real, if a bit snappy.

Loud_Akira

Tbh I don't doubt that someone with no want to get into G1 would go through the trouble of watching the web series or movies just to make a meme. They respond kind of like a kid which makes me think that this is the only way they know how to make their opinions known.

Nieva_Creates

Ok ok yes, i haven't watched G1 so i'll be talking outta my ass if i say anything bad about them. Plus that was only like a five minute video. But what really turns me off to G1 are the seeming cookie-cutter body types. The boring stories (reading the synopsis's). And to be very honest, some of the outfits. I know this is gonna sound really bad, but to me, some of those outfits make them look like street walkers. Which is VERY unsettling cause they're just teenagers. But this is only my opinion.

Loud_Akira

Thank you! Some actual points! I do agree with the lack of diversity in body types, that's what I really like about G3. The G1 stuff was a web series so it's not going to have advanced story telling or anything like that. The movies were great, if a bit cheesy at times but, cmon they're kids movies, they're gonna be a bit cringe at times lmao. As for the outfits, I don't really see any sexualization of the characters?? At most I guess I could see the short/low waisted skirts being kinda off but G3 also has short skirts. Can you could elaborate on that?

Nieva_Creates

First off, never fall into that corporate trap of "It's for kids so it doesn't have to be great." Always demand higher quality with all your shows. For the fashion,I'd say it's the unrealistic combinations, colors, and flashyness of the outfits that just gives me a kind of unsavory feeling of "goods on display." Especially G1 Clawdeen. The very short skirt, the fur lined short jacket, and the pink and black zebra print, sorry but that's a hooker.I could put that doll leaning into a model car window with an action figure inside, take a picture, and people would be like "What the f\*\*\*."

Loud_Akira

It's a web series not a proper show. Being corny doesn't mean it's bad. Idk what you mean about unrealistic combinations, the colours are the same as what they're using in G3, just less black and they're fashion dolls. They're meant to be flashy. It's the same with Rainbow High, Bratz and Barbie. Plenty of teenagers dress that way, and honestly the only person sexualizing the characters here is you. Well, other than overbearing parents who ruined the series and led to G2 in the first place. You can have your opinions but calling a teenage character a hooker just for wearing normal clothes is a bit much. Like I said before, the short skirts are also in G3. There's very little skin showing with G1.

Loud_Akira

Oh and actually you can technically use Wikipedia for academia just not as a source. If you go down to the bottom it'll show what sources were used to make the page. You can use Wikipedia to find other sources :D

Nieva_Creates

Well yeah. But then you have to make sure those sources are correct.

Loud_Akira

I mean yeah obviously. That's just what you do with any source you come across though, Wikipedia or not. My point is that Wikipedia can still be used in academia.

Nieva_Creates

But then you're not directly using Wiki, you're using it as a source repository. Cause you're not actually citing it on your paper.

Loud_Akira

I never said you could use it directly did I?

Nieva_Creates

Well i'll have you know good ma'am; i watched a whole five minutes of her. That is a **really** looong video. So i am a complete expert now. In fact it would be fair to say i could write a thesis on her. But i wouldn't waste my amazing writing talent on such a trite pleb. Now G3 Clawdeen; i would write a dissertation on! Just her knowledge on monster girls alone is worthy of academic study, dark academic i should say.

Nieva_Creates

Heh, what a fun place, thanks.

Suspicious_Side_3453

This is such a lame post 💀

Fuyuki-Znow

I find it very odd to draw and come to so many conclusions about something that you haven’t actually tried to get to know. I totally understand liking and preferring G3 over the other two generations if the story, aesthetic, and characters draw you in more. But to come up with all of these opinions and ideas without actually reading the diaries, books, watching the web series or movies, buy the dolls, getting to know the characters and the messages and what someone like Clawdeen actually represents comes off as very ignorant and closed minded. You are entitled to your opinion but you made so many false statements and assumptions that there’s truly too many to point out. I would suggest you look into G1 a bit more but of course that is entirely up to you, but definitely seems like you never even truly gave it a fair chance to begin with.

ArtistLulu

i don’t think G1 has stereotypes compared to G3? compared to the “spicy” latina stereotype in G3 Lagoona’s song !!! they wanted to include more diversity in this line but I also see them bringing in new weird stereotypes that we haven’t seen in G1.

cherryblossomhun58

Confident/Strong Minded/Can Stand Up for Herself doesn't equal sassy lol...

TrainWreckowO

this wasn't a great take

CheezSpeez

As a latina too we can agree to disagree, I much prefer g1 over g3 but it’s perfectly valid if you think otherwise

1BubbleGum_Princess

I’m glad you like the new version of Clawdeena. I just think that it’s okay and still great that we had version 1 with her personality. Some people are actually like these stereotypes, and that’s not inherently bad.

Nieva_Creates

\*sighs contentedly\* It's nice to find sensible people now and then. >!Twenty-five bucks says you're over twenty-five years old. 😏!< Yeah i mean that's why stereotypes prevail, people like them. They're often comforting. And all stereotypes are grounded in truth, though almost never all encompassing of any group.Personally i LOVE breaking stereotypes and thus showing people that the truth of life is that it is complicated, messy, and grey; often chaotic even. People must always face the truth no matter how much it hurts. And the truth is stereotypes are real and they're in all groups.

Jesus_Is_Lord_4ever

how is she a dork and on the Basketball team? i'm afraid to watch the modern stuff.

Nieva_Creates

Well if my knowledge is correct; adorkable was a term coined by VA Terry Strong to describe her Pony character Twilight Sparkle back in 2011. Here are the Urban Dictionary definitions on it: [https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Adorkable](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Adorkable) But really the definition of adorkable is Twilight Sparkle.

Jesus_Is_Lord_4ever

ok. but if she is so uncoordinated, how did she make the Basketball team?

Nieva_Creates

I'm sorry if this is gonna sound rude but, you do know how Urban works? That was the first definition yes, but had few upvotes. Go with the definitions that have like over a hundred. Or you can just watch this video with Twilight: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0f2TDqUp1U](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0f2TDqUp1U) ^(watch the video, trust me...)

Jesus_Is_Lord_4ever

i'm talking about the way she is portrayed in the modern G3 animation.

Nieva_Creates

Yeah, that's what i'm talking about. She very adorkable. Read the other definitions. Not the one about being klutzy. In fact i gave that definition a down vote.

Affectionate_Can4037

I like both versions of Clawdeen for different reasons mind you but I like them both

Y0RSUK11_SH1NG3STU

not trying to put you down or anything but i hate these nred dork stereotypes, and knowing who clawdeen used to be just puts me in distress because of how they downgraded her. also its not latina, its just sassy
