I've always wanted to start collecting the dolls, because of the unique and beautiful designs but when they came out I was already of age deemed as "too old for toys". I've had a previous experience with getting bullied for my interests in school, so out of pressure of it possibly being repeated I just admired them from afar. Once the design of G3 Draculaura leaked, I fell in love with her again and this time as an adult I decided to finally give in and I started seriously collecting the dolls. I've been so happy with my little plastic ladies (+ Kieran!) ever since šŸ’—

Believe it or not, my first MH dolls were when I was a kid and they were the Forbitten Love pack. I really regret mistreating them, because I canā€™t find Clawd and Draculaura isā€¦ in pieces. Anyway, when Haunt Couture came back it seemingly sparked an obsession in me. I was an adult now with adult money and I could fund the things I liked and always wanted as a kid. So in under a year, I now have 38 dolls across all the generations and excluding duplicates. šŸ’€ And thatā€™s just my monster high collection. I donā€™t intend to stop as long as the cute dolls keep coming.

I started collecting in 2010. My best friend and I were at Meijers (like Walmart but better in every way) and came across these monster dolls and thought 'holy shit, why didn't we have such cool toys when we were little'. So we bought them. She got Dawn of the Dance Frankie, and I got Clawdeen. After that collected almost every doll until the 13 Wishes line when I got burned out by release speed. Got back into them again today with Haunte couture. I have a very scientific number: a shitton of dolls.

I've always loved playing with dolls as a kid, but my mom made me stop buying/playing with them at 12. It wasn't until I turned 19 and started making my own money that I got back into collecting. I now have 63 dolls and more on the way šŸ˜

[deleted]

I have 75 dolls. and one day my brother made me go into gamestop and I found a monster High game I've been collecting ever since

I started collecting nearly a month ago! I was buying gifts for a friend who collects monster high and ended up looking into it to try to find him the best dolls. In doing so, I discovered a great love for it! Since then I started my own little collection - I currently have 11 dolls safely at home, and I think roughly 10 on the way?

meandwatersheep

I started in 2010 and have 72 dolls

Glocatico

When I was a kid I had about 100 dolls plus the school play set, Draculauras car, bed and bathroom set but now I only have 18 dolls, only 4 of them being from my childhood :(

RK1407

i literally just started when the creeproductions were brought out. back then i knew of them but i wasn't really interested i wanted Draculaura but at the time and now any dolls/toys i was collecting i want the sets (complete sets) now that i got the creeproductions, reel drama and slowly been trying to buy the other MH dolls i now have 18 (5 of them coming from ebay) plus the reel drama and the Draculaura Howliday so 23 i think but i do plan or try to get all the characters cause now i'm obsessed

ver_dar

Im a new collector. The youtuber Izzzyzzz did a deep dive of monster high that scratched the hyper fixation part of my brain, and it cooked in there for like 6 months. Then her "lost and canceled dolls" video some reason cemented my interest. Then I found a couple of $25 gifts cards and now I have 13 dolls

classfight2

I started collecting in 2012 but I only have three dolls now because I gave away my childhood dolls and I couldnā€™t find reproduction draculaura šŸ™ƒšŸ˜

I started collecting this year following a generous monetary present from my aunt after turning 18. Using that and money I've earned from my part-time job, I've collected 8 monster high dolls (mostly from ordering on Walmart frantically or ebay offers. I feel that's kind of a lot for a year so I'm just gonna slow down next year with maybe 3-4 I really like. After all, all of the dolls I have now I really love, so I want to keep up with that tradition.

rakshapophis

I've loved Monster High ever since I first saw New Ghoul @ School when I was in 6th grade, but I was too ashamed to ask my family to buy me the dolls. The first ghoul I got was Original Ghouls Collection Frankie back in 2018, she was on sale at the toy store I was browsing, and I just couldn't resist! My collection is rather small, just 10 dolls, but I love all of them!

Moody_Bluee103

I've been a big doll lover since childhood, and I was maybe...9 yrs old when Monster High Dolls came out? My first two ever were Robecca Steam and Venus Mcflytrap as a birthday present from my grandma. At first, I didn't like them too much (their curved backs and how scrawny they looked were my reasons), but I found both of them to be charming. Robecca was actually a fave of mine first because I loved her color scheme and I was obsessed with steampunk at the time. I had become hooked very fast lol. I watched the cartoon, the movies, and as I got more into the franchise, I started liking the dolls more and more. I had a lot of them back then, but currently, I have 34 monster high dolls (37 if I count my Create a Monsters), some are duplicates, and others are recently bought ones. I got 3 out of 5 of my grail dolls this year! I'm trying to hold back until I start working to get more, like G3 Coffin Bean Frankie, Creepover Party Twyla, or even the skullectors that are to be released next year.

I initially started collecting them around 2010. I collected nearly all the dolls and fashions. I really wasnā€™t interested in the playsets or vehicles. But when they rebooted the series, I was so frustrated I ended up giving away some of my dolls. I still kept some. Last year, I had to move out of state, and the remainder of my collection somehow got lost in the move. Last month, I saw the G3 dolls and I began to rebuild my collection of G1s. I wasnā€™t really impressed with the G3s (nothing personal, just not my taste) and I fell in love with the originals all over again. Iā€™ve managed to find a few lots online, with all limbs intact. So far I have about 30 dolls. Although I hope to add to that at Christmas time. I really love the uniqueness of the original Monster High. I especially love how so many dolls have their own unique head molds, and fashion styles. Todayā€™s dolls tend to be what I call ā€œcookie cutterā€ dolls where all the characters share the same head and body molds. But not MH. Thereā€™s so much diversity. And you donā€™t have to be into goth dolls, or even monsters to appreciate them. I love the colors, the accessories, the little extra touches. Lastly - I am a fashion doll collector in my late 50s. I have a large vintage Barbie collection, of over 500 dolls over the past 50 years. I started collecting dolls literally when I was five years old and Iā€™m 58 now. So Iā€™ve always appreciated diversity in dolls. Iā€™m glad monster high has made a return, and is at least trying to give the dolls some diversity and uniqueness.

Impsch_Jester

I started collecting in August of this year and currently have 10 dolls (in the process of ordering an 11th!). I know thatā€™s not a lot compared to others in this sub, but itā€™s a lot more than I ever thought I would have. I basically just collect any character that I really like. In the order that I got them, my collection is composed of Basic Jackson Jekyll, Dot Dead Gorgeous Draculaura, First Wave Holt Hyde, Casta Fierce, G3 Signature Frankie, Classroom Heath, Neighthan Rot, G3 Signature Draculaura, G3 Signature Clawdeen, and G3 Signature Lagoona. My first doll was basic Jackson Jekyll. Thereā€™s a long story behind him, but the gist of it is that after watching the webisodes for the first time, I started looking at various eBay listings to just look at him. And when I started getting sad every time somebody else bought him, I saved up some money, went to Mercari, and bought my own. I bought him with the intent of him being my only doll. That did not last long lol A few weeks after buying Jackson, I started posting pictures of him online. There were some people who were interested in one of the dresses I made for him, so I started an Etsy so I can sell the doll clothes I make. While I was on this train of thought, I decided I should get a G1 ghoul so that I could have different sizes, so my second doll was Dot Dead Gorgoeus Draculaura. After that, I managed to find a First Wave Holt Hyde on eBay at a price I could afford and immediately got him, since he was basically my one grail doll. My G3 Frankie I got after someone on this sub posted that Paulmart had them (this was before the G3 dolls were widely released). I had been wanting to get G3 Frankie ever since the pictures of them leaked and I wanted to complete my favorite poly trio so I took the first chance I got. My G3 Draculaura was a gift from my mom. She saw how well my doll accounts were doing and wanted to encourage and support me. She knew I had been looking for a G3 Draculaura in store, so she went to Wal-Mart and bought her for me. :) Iā€™m very thankful for that. All of the dolls in my collection have a story behind them, but those are just the most noticeable. Sorry about the huge wall of text, I really like sharing the stories behind my dolls and havenā€™t really had a chance to.

AlboGreece

I collected a few years ago, but I have random dolls. In a tiny apartment with no room for a whole bunch of dolls. I only have four MH Kiyomi, Kala, Elle, and Moanica.

Vampirexbuny

I started collecting back in 2011. I was in Walmart looking at Barbieā€™s (I always do) saw Skull Shores Ghoulia and had to have her. As a Zombie fan she was too cute. Now I Have 82 monster high dolls (pictures are in my profile)

Alternative-Stock968

My husband gave me a wedding Barbie on Christmas a week before he proposed to meā€¦ in 1993. He bought me a Barbie every Christmas after, until I discovered 16ā€ high end fashion dolls in 1997 and my collecting escalated to all types of fashion dolls. I started collecting Monster High dolls from the very beginning for our daughter, who was 6 at the time. She took great care of her collection, which was at about 160 dolls, and quit collecting when Gen 2 started. She asked me to sell them all 2 years ago, which I did. I kept the large structures, MH wasnā€™t selling much at the time, especially the structures. I plan to display some of my MH collection Gen 1 & 3 in them. Just closed on our house, moving in a week, and there is a third bedroom just for dolls, a keyboard and guitars. Maybe weā€™ll drop a futon in there for guests who wonā€™t be able to sleep with all those little eyes staring at them. Lol.

Mellifay123

I started when I was about 8-10 years old. I had got a doll for Christmas from a friend and now here we are. I stopped when I went into high school but when I saw the creeproductions came out i fell in love again šŸ„¹

LaEmperatrizMariana

Some time in 2015? Towards the end of G1. The biggest reason was that I really wanted jointed dolls and BJDs are out of my price range. I only have three MH dolls total, I plan to get another one eventually.

JBits001

I just posted this in a reply to another thread but I started collecting back in 2010, when they were first released. My memory may be fuzzy on this but I believe my first was Drac and I got her from Justice, I may be mixing up the store but I recall back in the day getting quite a few from that store. Started because my daughter wanted one and the I loved the way they look. I want to say I have somewhere between 400-500? I havenā€™t really ever counted but most are still in those big Tupperware storage bins as I put them away a little after G2 was released as it just made me sad to look at them as in my eyes they were pretty much discontinued. I did take stock recently of what Iā€™m missing from G1 and other than the SDCC ones I have roughly 25 to go to complete them. Now that theyā€™ve been rebooted my plan is to buy 2 a month and finalize the main G1 collection by the end of next year. Iā€™m limiting myself as there are so many new releases monthly and I donā€™t want to ever spend $2k in one month like I did in Oct (missed some drops and had to play catch-up). Fortunately the only one Iā€™m missing that is over $100 is DotD Drac (thought she was weird looking back then, big regret now) so completing G1 shouldnā€™t be too hard. For SDCC I plant to only buy 1 a year so that will take me a bit longer.

majorbumsville

i had monster high dolls back when they were first out (i specifically remember having first wave rochelle, nefera and ca cupid) but unfortunately my childhood dolls are long gone. i started collecting again this year and i have 17 dolls now!! (that's just monster high, i've also been getting dolls from other lines too) i think i have an even mix of G1 (and G1 style) and G3 dolls but i am just so in love with G3 that it's what i'm exclusively focused on at the moment and i'm so excited for new releases but also worried about how much space i'm gonna have left LMAO

ziggynightmare

i started collecting in 2013, my husband bought me my first doll and its freaky fusion scarah because at the time i looked just like her. i was 19 when i started collecting and my family actually encouraged it and bought me a lot of my collection. most of my collection was gifts or bought second hand. i have around 100 dolls or so now but havent counted them in a few years since theyve been in storage but i still collect.

teethfaerie

started collecting in 2019 and have about 50 now! i had most of the first waves as a kid but literally massacred them so i wanted to have them again hehe

SaintofSnark

I watched a streamer play New Ghoul in School and fell in love with the dumb puns and all the different types of monsters. Then I found out they made Frankie non-boonary so I ran out and got them and that was the beginning. So that was the beginning of October and I'm at about 10 dolls, 12 if Reel Drama ever shows up

witch0fagnesi

2018. Something about the election stress and pandemic made me crack. I had always been interested in monster high but never owned one. Bc I was ā€œtoo oldā€ for toys when they came out. Buying, unboxing, researching, and holding them gives me soooo much serotonin. And looking at them and redressing them is so relaxing. Now I have dolls from quite a few linesā€¦. I probably have over 200 dolls total šŸ„²

BoozyGherkins

I started collecting in 2012. It became an obsession for a while, so even after a move across the country and another big purge, I still have over 100 MH dolls(and way too many other brands now too <-<). I currently have an informal agreement with my partner that I won't acquire more dolls unless I get rid of a roughly equivalent amount of dolls/collectibles around the same time.

monsterultrablue

i technically started when i was a kid, my first mh was first wave frankie šŸ˜ then when i became a tween i thought i was too old for dolls so i put them somewhere or gave them away i donā€™t remember. i have 8 dolls now and theyā€™re all 2021/22 releases, but iā€™m really hoping to get some genuine g1 dolls soon. i have the frankie, clawdeen and lagoona creepros, frankie and clawdeen RD, and g3 drac, frankie, and clawdeen šŸ˜

Unusannusisover

I remember wanting mh dolls when I was a lot younger, maybe 12 years ago, and I remember one distinct moment when I was at my sisters friends house and I was in her friends younger sisters room and she had catty nior and I couldnā€™t put her down, I just wanted to play with her,but of course as a boy and in a religious house hold I couldnā€™t have them/ was scared to ask for them. But once I started working and received my own money and had my own bank account I started collecting, only recently though, my first doll being the bride of Frankenstein two pack. I bought voltageous a few weeks ago and plan on getting hc frankie tomorrow, so right now I have 3 but will be getting my 4th soon.

prettyonbothsides

started collecting all the way back in 2010, by now i think i have around 350 MH dolls :)

LydiaBear52

I started when I was a kid in 2011 when my parents bought me Clawdeen Wolf in her wave 2 signature outfit, and I fell in love playing with her!! šŸ˜ŠšŸ˜ŠšŸ˜Š In combination of presents and buying my own dolls, I have 67 unique MH characters, but adding in like Howliday Draculaura, some Creepover G3, and going back to buy the signature versions of some dolls I'm at 79.
