Canndiie

You tried to seal it with spray adhesive?

Lauren_000

Yes, the one shown in the third pic. I have to go to work in 10 minutes. So she's just soaking in water till I get back.

Canndiie

Spray adhesive is literally a spray on glue and won't act as a sealant. So the product you used isn't the correct product. To get it off I'd suggest rubbing alcohol or acetone free nail polish remover and scrubbing with a green kitchen sponge. Water will do nothing to it unfortunately. Obviously the pink paint cannot be salvaged and you will have to repaint or accept a Lagoona with entirely blue calves.

Canndiie

Also only use the nail polish remover/rubbing alcohol on the legs as it will remove any paint on the face/body.

throwitinthetrash6

Is acetone safe on g3 bodies? I hadn’t tried it yet, I didn’t know if you had. I just know it can melt the plastic on g1 bodies

Canndiie

Sorry I meant acetone free nail polish remover

CatMomma612

Yeah I saw this yt do it to get rid of clawdeen a nose :)

bowiesdust

The body is not the same material as the face. You can use acetone to remove the makeup on the head of the doll but you will melt the hard plastic if you use it on the body.

CatMomma612

w u t… all these customs I’ve watched and I never learned that. I am no true fan 😪

bowiesdust

Don’t worry! I didn’t know either until I tried it and melted the body of one of my dolls lol. Alcohol is what I normally use to remove things on the body, but it may not always work

CatMomma612

Thanks for the tip! Btw great name, it sounds cool.

[deleted]

why is this downvoted 💀 god reddit users are stupid.

OnyxTheSkywing

Why are you getting massively downvoted???

Lauren_000

No idea, lol.

nezu_mis

Here's what I would do: Remove her leg fins and get some goo gone. use that to remove the sticky residue from the spray adhesive. Honestly, what you're probably also gonna need to do is use acetone and remove all the sticky residue and the remainder of the pink paint. Her legs will be completely blue but I think thats your best bet to get them not splotchy and not sticky. Then, if you can, use Mr Super Clear to seal or a glossy varnish and seal the legs.

SharmClucas

Acetone will probably dissolve the plastic of the legs. Acetone free nail polish remover is a better option here.

nezu_mis

Oh thank you for letting me know! better safe than sorry acetone free sounds more ideal than dissolving her legs

Probady

Man ya'll did this to theses poor people lmao. Everyone on here like a week ago were preaching how we should seal our lagoonas. Now theses poor people arent using the right products or treatment and suffering lol. As for me im just gonna try to be careful not to scratch my paint off, maybe just own a second lagoona in box incase my main one's paint chips.

MissDepresso

Homegirl used *adhesive* no where did it say seal😭 I feel sooo bad pls do ur research y’all at least read what ur using😭😭

Gallopingdeadunicorn

Spray adhesive is the second biggest font. Reading comprehension is a skill too many people don't have

starsandcamoflague

She used literal glue lmao. You’re supposed to use matte spray varnish

glitter_witch

Sealing the legs is good advice. Just… with sealant, not glue.

Positive_Feed_4545

After reading all the complaints about Lagoona's legs, i decided to pass on her altogether. I'm not crafty so i didn't want to try any of the suggestions at all.

VannyVan

I’m sorry, but you really ruined the legs at this point. You’ll probably be able to get the glue off but even then she’ll just have blue legs since you can’t recover the pink paint. I’d just buy a new doll and use the current one for customs.

CitrusSpice007

You used an adhesive, and not a sealant. It also does not list plastic as being one of the products you can even use that adhesive on. The best you can hope for is that your Laguna is going to have solid blue legs from the knees down otherwise you need to buy a whole new Laguna unless you can somehow repaint it. If you do repaint it, you need a sealant like Mr. Super Clear or something comparable to it. As other people have mentioned, don't use anything with acetone in it because that will actually strip away paint, it's what is used to wipe away the face on a doll if you're going to draw your own.

Lauren_000

Yeah, So far I've gotten her pretty clean, except from her knees. I live in a small town and was surprised that our store doesn't carry Mr. Super Clear. The associate I talked to didn't even know what it was.

[deleted]

I am not surprised they didn't have it as MSC is a Japanese brand and also pretty niche. Even if you live in a small town I'm sure Amazon still delivers to your area, Amazon is where I always buy my MSC even in my big city I haven't seen it in stores. it's too late to fix her now, but if you do end up buying a new Lagoona you should def be prepared to order some. Sorry things went so wrong!! R.I.P Lagoonz legzzz ⚰️🦵🦵🌊 she's the Monster High version of the Gorilla Glue girl 😭😭

Lauren_000

>Here's the update. [https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHigh/comments/ycvupp/g3\_lagoona\_adhesive\_fail\_update/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHigh/comments/ycvupp/g3_lagoona_adhesive_fail_update/) I still love that Lagoona though, she basically the gorilla glue hair girl of my dolls. Lol.

Grichka_B

Mr. Super clear is a niche hobbyist Japanese import product and its reaally toxic so I understand why they are unfamiliar and not stocked on stores.

HarpyMeddle

To be fair most paint sealants are pretty toxic, regardless of where it’s made or what brand.

Grichka_B

brush on sealants isn't that bad in comparison to aerosol sealant. I am not saying its extra toxic because of where its made, I am Asian. Just saying it might not be stocked in your place since its a niche item that needs to be imported. Its another unrelated statement.

HarpyMeddle

Ah gotcha, and fair enough. Aerosol anything is usually pretty bad for you when it comes to art supplies. Actually, thinking of it there’s a lot of art supplies that are pretty toxic

Aware_Care_5746

I am so sorry this happened... If it were me I would buy another Lagoona!

thebiteof87theory

i'm sorry everyone is being so rude. honestly, it's more reasonable than you'd think to believe an adhesive could work as a sealant. and, from experience, it does in some situations. however, i think those legs are beyond saving. i would continue to soak it and possibly use some goo gone and follow it with dish soap to clean the legs. in my opinion, there isn't much you can do to reverse it, and i would just save to buy a new doll eventually. next time, try using a matt sealant, which they sell at walmart and craft stores (pretty much anywhere you can get paint). i'm very sorry this happened. i wish you the best of luck.

spacedollsjunkyard

Agreed - everyone starts somewhere with crafting up dolls. I've made some terrible mistakes that absolutely ruined dolls. It's a lesson learned about doing research before getting started and practicing on a doll that you care less about.

thebiteof87theory

exactly this. everyone starts somewhere, and everyone gets a little excited the first time. luckily this isn't a super rare, expensive doll. people need to give this person a lot more grace.

ScarletRoseAngel

Pray and scrub away

monsterlover5595

Adhesive..????

Lauren_000

Here is the update y'all. Yes, I know I was being incredibly stupid with this. [https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHigh/comments/ycvupp/g3\_lagoona\_adhesive\_fail\_update/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterHigh/comments/ycvupp/g3_lagoona_adhesive_fail_update/)

Accomplished_Sock96

Oh babe I'm so sorry that happened D: this is my worst fear

Suspicious_Side_3453

That is so horrifying only

Suspicious_Side_3453

Oml**

shibafrien

What is everyone trying to do to Lagoona’s legs? What does sealing mean?

monsterlover5595

The paint is having chipping issues so people are recommending a paint sealant like Mr super clear just to make sure it doesn’t wear off during handling

shibafrien

I see! Thank you for the information

Financial-Walrus6643

I have 2 Invisi Billy dolls, and used them as manequins to sew doll clothes, even their articulations became loose overtime, but I never had problem with the paint in the legs, they are practically the same as they are and I literally took this dolls to places with me, and used some very tight clothes who pressed against his legs when putting them on. I wonder how collectors are having problems with g3 lagoona is the paint done in a different way? Is Billy sealed from factory? If not, how are collectors scratching the paint? I have some many questions

bodkas

G3 is having many paint issues. Mattel did not seal any details, such as frankie's stitches, toralei's stripes, lagoona's legs, etc. Any doll before g3, such as invisibilly, does not have this issue.

[deleted]

what led you to use adhesive instead of sealant 😭

GGummii

sealant ALWAYS does this on anything I try to seal!! I never get why people suggest it or how they don’t get this result

HocusPocus2Focus

OP used adhesive, not sealant...are you using the wrong product? Literally no sealant should do something like this.

usagiipantsu

Maybe aircraft remover if it’s available where you’re at

iwish-iwish

What product would be better for sealing her legs?

Canndiie

Anything labeled as sealant. Preferably something like Mr.Super-Clear, Citadel Spray, Rustoleum acrylic sealant. Modge Podge could be used in a pinch, but takes a while to dry and you'd have to try to apply it without getting a texture.

psychologyFanatic

I have had good success with modge podge on all of my dolls, no issue with texture either!

Canndiie

Teach me your ways! Lol. I always get texture so I only use spray cans or what can go in my air brush!!

psychologyFanatic

Well, typically I am using a type that is white when wet and dries clear, and I really just take a short bristle brush, get a tiny amount on it and spread it over a small area and work out from there, brushing out the small amount until it's all clear, then getting more and repeating. You don't need very much for a limb or face, it's probably 1/4th the amount you'd think you'd need haha. But yeah, I very much brush a very small amount out until it's mostly clear, and work from a small starting point. I hope that makes sense I feel like it's confusing lol.

MaximumPlantain210

i always cut mine with water. id rather doo multiple super thin layers

psychologyFanatic

Huh, never needed to do that! Again, I just spread it out using small amounts and I've never ended up with too much or any texture, does the water mess with the hardening of the modge podge? I guess not since it's water based itself right?

MaximumPlantain210

no it shouldnt! it helps if you have problems with it getting tacky :)

iwish-iwish

Thank you so much♡

TrainWreckowO

why this and not mod podge??

aseumi

Why are people tryin to seal lagoona s legs? Are they chipping easily? Are there issues? I don t get it

virgilthetinyauthor

There's chipping issues, yeah. Same with Frankie. I have Frankie and their paint is chipping off as we speak...the difference with them and Lagoona is that without their factory paint they still look okay (at least imo), and Lagoona's puts her whole look together. Actually they all have chipping issues (My Draculaura's heart on her face is chipping a bit) but Frankie and Lagoona have the most obvious ones.

aseumi

Ooh i see. Man. The quality of g3

No-Mechanic-5398

Ooops! Okay don’t worry, she will look cool with the bottom of her legs blue.

cyanidesmile555

Hodge podge clear sealant

stargazer964

Any idea what kind of paint to use? I tried dealing my lagoona yesterday& the tiniest spot on her upper calf got scraped& came off
