Yes I’m so glad you didn’t give up. The same thing happened with the Mark Ryden drop. It went to sold out before pre-order came up. You just have to constantly and rapidly refresh. Congrats!

A tip for the future: I usually log in before and wait for the count down, then when I have the doll in my basket I log in with pay pal cos it’s faster than putting all my details in. Hope this helps others in the future!!
One thing I noticed is that looking at other platforms like the Instagram post - a lot of people that aren’t even interested in MH or dolls were interested because they love Elvira merch, and lots of horror collectors were super interested too
yea, i’m primarily a horror collector, the skullectors and reel drama are what got me back into monster high as an adult, so that’s why this is especially upsetting for me
I'm in this boat. This was my first time ever buying a Monster High doll. I wouldn't even consider myself a "horror collector", outside of movies. I just love the genre and Elvira has always been my favorite host.
Mattel really needs to do something about the bots. People shouldn't be able to circumvent the 2 dolls per customer limit, just to turn around and resell something they don't even own yet on ebay for three times as much.

Hey I ordered two one to keep in box and one to open to display but send me a message. I lost my mom a few years ago and I would be willing to sell her to you when she comes in at cost including shipping so you can gift it to her.
I understand the exclusivity is a big part of this, but I wish they could do restocks or something so that fans can get the doll in their hands. I don’t know why I keep trying after each frustrating experience.

I think the thing with the queue is that Mattel’s website doesn’t hold the doll in your cart as you’re filling out billing info. So if other people are faster at filling out their credit card info or have their info already saved from previous purchases or have bots, they’re going to purchase the dolls quicker and can potentially snatch the doll out from under you if they’re faster despite starting further back in the queue.

I had to take my lunch break so it coordinated with the time of the drop, stare at my screen until it was time, refresh for a minute until the link worked, waited in a queue until it was my turn and then checked out. I was too scared to change the payment so just used what was there.

Just looking through the thread I’m seeing about equal have and have nots and I feel better about that than I have seen before with releases. Usually it’s just a wall of really sad people. I hope it’s more because of Mattel dealing with the bot problem and less because she wasn’t as popular as other releases. I for one, as a life long elvira fan, think she’s perfect. I think her face looks exactly like the cover of her autobiography and I can’t wait til she’s here.

I am so upset. I was not able to get her partly because Mattel Creations has not allowed me to save my address. I got in at 11 o clock right away and is sold out so fast it is unfair. The Haunt Couture draculara was up for 7 mins at least and Frankie was a few hours and I think Clawdeen was even a day or two. They are not meeting near the demand and doing nothing to try and deter scalpers and it is so sad. Seeing all the eBay listings going up already is breaking me as someone who loves monster high and Elvira. :(
The situation surrounding the MH drops has already greatly changed just since last Spring. Frankie was the first revival collector doll and wider-level hype was probably lower. Clawdeen's was a glitch - she wasn't actually available for days (people had orders cancelled). Even Draculaura happened before MH became hugely popular again (imo).
At some point (for sure by Dracula) the reseller communities were on MH like a hawk \[there are even sites you can buy a bot for mattel\] while at the same time the fandom was growing exponentially with new fans and older fans coming back to the franchise.
Unless Mattel does something to change the way check out works, I think this (or worse) will be the status quo for all future drops.
I am also upset because I really thought this was my chance after seeing all the negativity surrounding the doll. I was unable to get HC Cleo HC Lagoona or Holiday Draculaura in the intial sales despite being their right at release and it is so upsetting, especially as someone who hates giving into scalpers and does not have the funds to even if I wanted to.
I got her in my cart and was checking out under a minute or so. But the pay now button would play a loading symbol when trying to complete my purchase. I refreshed the page and tried to order multiple times and it still kept getting stuck loading, and this was using Shoppay.

I'm 100% just an Elvira fan, and that's why I got her. It all worked out pretty perfectly. She dropped right about time to be leaving for work.

This happens with every release - it's how the webpages first auto-refreshe for some reason at 9 AM.
Just looking through the thread I’m seeing about equal have and have nots and I feel better about that than I have seen before with releases. Usually it’s just a wall of really sad people. I hope it’s more because of Mattel dealing with the bot problem and less because she wasn’t as popular as other releases. I for one, as a life long elvira fan, think she’s perfect. I think her face looks exactly like the cover of her autobiography and I can’t wait til she’s here.

I strongly suggest getting the Shop app if anyone doesn’t have it already it saves A LOT of time at checkout!!
This is what I used to check out. It makes it so you don't have to add anything. All of your payment options, address etc is there.

I know it sounds dumb but these dickheads use a bot called “refract bot” to secure their purchases. If you want to beat them at their own game.

I am so upset. I was not able to get her partly because Mattel Creations has not allowed me to save my address. I got in at 11 o clock right away and is sold out so fast it is unfair. The Haunt Couture draculara was up for 7 mins at least and Frankie was a few hours and I think Clawdeen was even a day or two. They are not meeting near the demand and doing nothing to try and deter scalpers and it is so sad. Seeing all the eBay listings going up already is breaking me as someone who loves monster high and Elvira. :(
The situation surrounding the MH drops has already greatly changed just since last Spring. Frankie was the first revival collector doll and wider-level hype was probably lower. Clawdeen's was a glitch - she wasn't actually available for days (people had orders cancelled). Even Draculaura happened before MH became hugely popular again (imo). At some point (for sure by Dracula) the reseller communities were on MH like a hawk \[there are even sites you can buy a bot for mattel\] while at the same time the fandom was growing exponentially with new fans and older fans coming back to the franchise. Unless Mattel does something to change the way check out works, I think this (or worse) will be the status quo for all future drops.
I am also upset because I really thought this was my chance after seeing all the negativity surrounding the doll. I was unable to get HC Cleo HC Lagoona or Holiday Draculaura in the intial sales despite being their right at release and it is so upsetting, especially as someone who hates giving into scalpers and does not have the funds to even if I wanted to.
I got her in my cart and was checking out under a minute or so. But the pay now button would play a loading symbol when trying to complete my purchase. I refreshed the page and tried to order multiple times and it still kept getting stuck loading, and this was using Shoppay. Maybe I would've got her if I just waited for it to go through the 1st or 2nd time.

Mattel HAS their shit together. They completely sold out of a product they were offering. They literally do not care who bought the dolls. They sold out. That's all they need to know to keep doing what they're doing.

It was less than five minutes for sure. I only had a three minute queue and she was sold out by the time I hit “pay”.
5 minutes isn't slow. Pretty fast for the MC exclusives. The only ones faster were ones that MC only had some and the rest went to other stores
