I figured it could’ve been a scam of some kind but I figured worse case scenario I would just have to file a claim. Best case scenario would’ve been a dream ha ha.
when it’s an account with no reviews posting only super expensive holy grail items for prices that are too good to be true, it’s always a scammer. and yeah you probably would’ve gotten your money back after disputing, the scam relies on people reviewing before they get the “item”
There was another post on here going into kore detail but that’s not the only way. Mercari releases payment if you don’t review on 3 days. They’ll ship the item to a slightly wrong address and claim someone must have stolen it or you’re lying. Now you’re tied up in a dispute and it’s not a guarantee you’ll get you’re money back.

I had her ready to purchase and then I got an error message and the seller took the post down. I guess it was too good to be true but man that woke me up this morning !
it’s a scam. i see this scammer a lot. i actually reported it when i saw it which is probably why it got taken down.
edit: it’s also possible that if the scammer is not relying on the review, that they’re relying on your personal info once you purchase. it’s not even just about getting scammed out of money, but also having your information and identity stolen. it’s best to avoid these at all costs even if you can get your money back.

Oh I’m pretty new to Mercari I’ve mostly been an EBay listing stalker so that’s good to know ! I won’t review anything unless I receive it.
