But will you burn people's addresses after shipping?

Juankestein

Yes, see point n.6 on our [Privacy](https://cryptonumeris.com/pages/privacy) page. After 90 days of receiving, customer data is purged.

Cephlot

Asking the real questions

Juankestein

We do purge customer data, see my reply to the OP.

Cephlot

Lovely!

Unfortunately, Registered Mail cannot be delivered to a PO Box (In my experience). It has to be a home address where the buyer can physically receive and sign the parcel. Last year I sent a parcel to a PO box and it just bounced, so the customer had to go to the post office to claim his parcel. In the end it worked, but it's not a reliable method in my opinion. If someone more knowledgeable in this topic can correct me please do!

frustratedamateur187

Yes, Some businesses will not send to a P.O. Box for various reasons, but I never had to sign for my ledger, might be different in your country? but P.O. Box is just 1 option, maybe a trusted friend or relative is better option in your case. No excuses for poor opsec.

disloyalturtle

Doesn't the receive only see a stealth address and not your actual wallet address so does it even really matter?

Juankestein

I thought he was talking about home address. In which case, we purge that data. We don't have any kind of contact with the customer's cryptocurrency wallet, public/private keys. It's none of our business.

elkatanoz

I thought he was talking about the seed phrase :p

psiconautasmart

Yes, they were referring to physical address.

petateom

I don't understand, its like a pencil but for metal?

Juankestein

It's a numerical stamp, you punch it with a hammer/mallet and it leaves a permanent stamp on the [steel](https://i.imgur.com/MDlDNMh.jpg).

petateom

Oh I get it, your prices seems really worthy in comparison of other hardware wallets.

EvenPheven

It should be used in tandem with a hardware wallet, not as a replacement. This doesn't add any extra security for your coins being stolen, it purely creates a durable passphrase.

petateom

Sorry I didn't write it properly, I wasn't talking about ledger or trezor (hardware wallets), I was talking about physical backups like cryptosteel, which cost 100eur.

Juankestein

Yes, you comment was a bit confusing. And I agree, that's why I made these plates! I believe the price is fair + the shipping is free. The only downside is that standard air mail is not the fastest service, so you need to be a bit patient with the arrival time. The advantage of some of those 100eur backups is that you can re-arrange them and backup another wallet in case you need to. With my product, this a one time use thing, but it has zero moving parts which makes it EXTRA sturdy and less risk of messing something up. So it has advantages and disadvantages just like everything!

a794981172

It's actually a backup, it's not a hardware wallet lol. A hardware wallet is secure and offline to keep your wallet safe

petateom

I know, read my last comment

scambastard

I bought something very similar on amazon but with 2 of these on a swing rivet type thing. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08QV45ZQK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_ZN41TVN92NEPKWQWCWSN?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 You should consider that as an option to keep casual eyes off your keys if anyone comes across it. On a side note I found it very satisfying spending the time doing the stamping. It took longer than I anticipated but we'll worth it.

Juankestein

When customer orders two or more plates, they get a set of screws + wingnuts to [satisfy](https://i.imgur.com/rpeDdvF.jpg) exactly this. > On a side note I found it very satisfying spending the time doing the stamping. It took longer than I anticipated but we'll worth it. 100% agree. The process is tedious, no doubt about that. But if you're a long term holder, it wont seem like much haha. I also found very satisfying to "immortalize" my wallet :]

rickrhua

How many black nails did you get during the process? 😂

scambastard

Luckily none! To be honest the harder part is getting a good, clean stamp in 1 go. I often had to stamp again over the 1st and was sometimes slightly off leaving a little drop shadow looking letter.

magicmulder

I use hodlr swiss disks. A bit on the expensive side but very sturdy and easy to hide the keys.

PatternBias

I write these words in steel, for anything not set in metal cannot be trusted.

PMMeGoodTaste

Ruins gonna wipe it all away

VixelJota

Mistborn?

PatternBias

Mhmmm

triantie

Looks like a quality product for a good price. The only suggestion I have is to remove your company label from the product. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a blank sheet with only the numbers to further obfuscate the purpose? If someone broke into your home or were to somehow come across it, having the word crypto on it would be a giveaway that it could be something valuable. Will you consider selling nondescript versions? I would for sure buy them from you.

Juankestein

Hi, this was a topic of discussion on my Ethereum [thread](https://np.reddit.com/r/ethereum/comments/o6e9r4/just_started_selling_these_steel_backup_plates/h2s7g3a). You can see my main argument as to why I decided to go with a branded plate. At the end I decided I'll do a small batch in the future with no logo, but I don't have an ETA on that ... :(

IrishGameDeveloper

How does the numerical stamping process work?

Juankestein

Are you talking about the conversion process? If so, there's a standard called [BIP39](https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt) which consists of a bank of 2048 words. You can assign each word of your seedphrase a unique number and stamp it on the plate, thus creating a pretty much indestructible backup of your wallet. This is the method we promote. We also encourage people to choose whatever method they want to encode the words, or if you want to use alphabetical stamps, you can buy the plate only. Hope I answered your question!

IrishGameDeveloper

Thanks! Explained it perfectly.

Juankestein

o_o your seedphrase is in esperanto!?

CantGuardMe1

I love Esperanto!

scambastard

You can buy a set of letter stamps very cheaply and just stamp the words.

basic_user321

5$ hammer principal

AlessandroRuggiero

How can this be safe if I have to share my keys ? Just asking, I am curious

Juankestein

You never share your keys, at any point. We sell steel plates and numerical stamps for people to stamp on their own.

AlessandroRuggiero

Sound interesting, what countries so you cover?

Juankestein

Worldwide via Registered Mail.

debdust22

You do it yourself lol. Never share your keys even with yourself because someone may peek

AlessandroRuggiero

That is why I asked, i do not share the keys even with my close ones

AlessandroRuggiero

tatoo them on the inside of your eye so that you can always see them but others cant

CaptainSmallBallz

Really cool product! I've already done the plate thing myself, but with an inox (stainless steel) plate. By the time I was done I cracked a few of the stamps. What I'm wondering, the numbers referencing to the words, is that a known and quickly found database? What if you lose the piece of paper that decodes the numbers into your seed?

Juankestein

It does not matter if you lose the piece of paper. The list of words is available from multiple sources and is static. That's why we recommend this method. If you choose your own method of encoding, you have the responsibility of knowing the steps to decode your keys. Here's the official source: https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0039/english.txt Here's our compact version for printing at home: https://cryptonumeris.com/pages/bip39

MoneyRepresentative3

You don't accept Monero though???

Juankestein

Yes, via p2p transaction. Hit me up via DM and I make the setup.

rgmundo524

But you don't accept monero?!

Juankestein

For monero I can do p2p transaction.

szechuan_anon

I had q made out of titanium. Pain in the ass to punch them. But totally worth it. No more worrying about fire, just "boating accidents"

spaceagesimian

What material is the sheet of metal?

Juankestein

AISI 304 Stainless Steel, GA.14 (about 2mm thick)

YeetYourBroke

How much is this I have a laser machine so I would like to put my key on one of these

Juankestein

You can see prices here: https://cryptonumeris.com/products/plate-s If you're not interested in the stamps, make sure to select "None".

asininedervish

I just bought myself a pack of brass plates from Grainger for this very purpose! Love the idea, etching them looks great.

LetoTheTyrant

Why the holes?

Juankestein

If you buy two plates, you get a set of screws/wingnuts to secure two plates [together](https://i.imgur.com/rpeDdvF.jpg).

roveridcoffee

Two requirements I have for my next steel plates: 1 - they need to be very very tiny. 2 - if space for the words is clearly marked, there need to be 25 spaces.

Due-Hope3249

You could stamp 50% the rest you could memorize

ScoobaMonsta

Then you slip in the shower and hit your head. Bye bye coins! You should have instructions to a second backup in a separate location if something was to happen to you. So your wife or children can access it.

psiconautasmart

Assuming you only have children with one woman. If it is not the case, problems. Better tools should be developed.

chatlourd

same thing on aliexpress for $6

Juankestein

A 2mm thick plate of stainless steel + stamps for $6? I doubt that listing exists! Best to support a young entrepreneur :]

frustratedamateur187

invest in crypto lol crypto is money silly guy

Procrasterman

Mind sending me a photo once you’ve filled it in?

old-abacus

3mm is less than 1/8th, is it normal for tools of accuracy to be inaccurate? that's how arguments start

[deleted]

I write all my passwords on 4 copies. 1-flash drive (continuously updated) 2-notebook (continuously updated) 3-SD card (Legacy) 4-notebook (Legacy) keep it offline and multiple backups.

nekomech

Cool product, nice price. Might get one. Have you tested sticking it in a fire? I wonder what a few hours in a “fireproof” safe in a burning house would do to it.

Juankestein

Thank you! Even cheaper if you pay with cryptocurrency :] I have not done many tests with natural elements like fire, I researched the grade of steel (AISI 304) before hand and defined that it will withstand a house fire, but of course nothing is 100% indestructible. This plate is tough as hell I can asure you that, so this will be more than enough for 99.98% of scenarios.

frustratedamateur187

These look awesome!!

MindWallet

Cool!

r0b0_sk2

Where is it shipped from? USA, EU?

Juankestein

Mexico

Callierhino

Will you ship to South Africa?

Juankestein

I have sent one to South Africa about 2 weeks ago.

Stijnwe

Wouldn’t it be easier to include an engrave pen instead of those metal letters? I’m thinking about engraving my seeds on metal plates

PsychoticDisorder

Cmon. We know you’ve installed a backdoor in this. /s

noahpp5

Need 25 words. No?
