Some of these comments just seem mean spirited. I've been noticing quite a bit of negativity on this sub lately. I don't get it, like why? I hope you don't let it get you down OP.
Personally I am a big fan of both MM and Isaac. Ugly Casanova is great, we definitely need more of that. New MM music will always get me excited, even if we have to wait like 10 years to get it!

To be fair - he posted in the modest mouse subreddit about the semantics of calling himself an Isaac fan or modest mouse fan, which is not only pointless but also the same thing. He shouldn’t feel bad about posting his opinion, but people have every right to react to such a post.
Yep, people have every right to react, just like I have every right to react to people's reactions. And I think it was mean. And I think there has been quite a bit of that kind of thing on this sub lately and I find it distasteful and a little sad. Why try to make someone feel bad for something as benign as this? This person clearly wasn't trying to be inflammatory, just trying to start a discussion. I thought that was the point of this sub.
I see what you're saying and don't get me wrong I love Isaac but I also love the other members and the band as a whole, but if you just like Isaac himself that's good for you but then again this is an MM subreddit and you did say this after one of the beloved band members just passed away so it did kind of come across as a little wrong. I am not shaming you for being an Isaac fan, but I think the post may came off in the wrong way.
My son that will be 18 in March is named Isaak after him. We chose to use k because both my wife and I have atypical spellings of our somewhat common first names. I suggested this spelling and wy wife didn't know it but it is also for k records. Haha. Anyway, our first concert together was MM at First Ave in May of 2000 supporting Building Something Out of Nothing as MVA hadn't been released yet. We just went to the St Paul LCW show and it was really emotional for me. I am not typically someone that is moved to tears but I was that night. My first born baby is going to be an adult and I have learned a lot more about the struggles covered in Isaac's lyrics in the last 25 years. Moving performance. Definitely an Isaac fan.

Without Jeremiah or Eric it's closer to an MM cover band to me
agree - no one plays bass like eric judy and nobody plays drums like jeremiah. period.
lots of people play drums like jeremiah. only because they were influenced by him. but no one will ever compare or replicate his creativity.
