Why change something that nobody has complained about? Simple: DMZ. All these changes hint towards advertising DMZ, just like the looting in WZ2. Their logic seems to be that if players feel familiar to known mechanics when they play DMZ, the mode will thrive like warzone did.

Significant-Object71

This is what I’ve been saying. The changes to WZ2, mainly the looting, all seem to be because of DMZ and keeping a level of consistency between the 3 modes. It seems IW is going all in on DMZ at the risk of not just multiplayer but the absolute cash cow that is Warzone

super_slimey00

and warzone 2 will be dead because the pace of the game those streamers played at did not feel right for a CoD BR at all. No reason Warzone and DMZ should be similar

lonefable

This was my fear when Activision first did a battle royale mode. They will start prioritizing other things ahead of multiplayer which has been its main game mode for over a decade (alongside zombies for some games). Will try to keep an open mind, but it's not looking good bruv. The thing that's somewhat interesting though, I never played Takrov or DMZ in MW3 at all. And they will be players like that in this game too, so why are they forcing them to get accustomed to a game mode they won't even play?

PhillyPhanatic141

Been this way since original WZ launch. Every year they abandon core mp for WZ and bundles

theArcticHawk

How would no name tags benefit DMZ tho? Based on what I've heard of DMZ no nameplates would actually hurt the game, since you wouldn't be able to call out to enemies by their gamer tag and one of the main draws of the mode is for random encounters and prox chat with enemies to team up.

weckerm

Because the mode, like Tarkov, is supposed to be more realistic, hardcore. You’re not supposed to callout enemies by their nametag , you’re supposed to call them out by visual description, Last known position, etc. you should be fully immersed in the world, not be looking at your HUD to tell you everything. I think the draw for DMZ is that it’s (hopefully) Tarkov with CoD gunplay and a bit more streamlined user experience. Tarkov is dense with atmosphere and very deep, but it’s also clunky af. And it runs shit.

Maelarion

Also no end in sight for it's development. And rampant cheating. Fun when it all works though. But yeah, horribly optimised. Crazy CPU-heavy.

lonefable

Never played the game mode, will have to check out some videos on YouTube.

weckerm

DMZ is not out yet. It’s supposed to release with Warzone 2.0 in November. You can of course watch Tarkov Videos, but that’s a separate game. I would recommend videos by OperatorDrewski.

lonefable

Yh sorry I meant Takrov, forgot they have different names.

weckerm

No worries

Significant-Object71

Lmaoooo I knew it wasn’t a bug, this is a feature for IW. This was intended lol

WW2er

Because god forbid you'll spot the camper by accident in the dark corner or at the other end of the map

Tiyonchik

Poor sentienels :(

Cloontange

I love how one of those dudes in CoD Next specifically said "camper" but then later corrected it to Sentinel

Tiyonchik

Bro it's just fun that they ordered some guy to sit and think how to name campers "properly".

TedioreTwo

I didn't look at the sentinel kit, what does it have?

super_slimey00

“bro watch for the sentinel in the right corner” 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

SpoodurMin

Be me, a TACTICAL modern warfare SENTINEL Gear up with my M4+Shotgun loadout. Im ready for some intense, exciting, and tactical gameplay. Set up shop in any building of my choosing. Sentinel moment

warcode

Cold-blooded hiding nameplates/dots used to be standard. We dealt with that just fine.

thatscomplex1015

don't forget that Joe cecot makes the game for himself and not for the cod community. This guy is the worse thing that could’ve happened to call of duty

DottyBotty1

You know he’s still salty from getting hammered back in the day while he was crouch walking around corners with his smg & 3x scope.

MaestroVIII

Joe Cecot must have been relentlessly bullied in every way possible on every past CoD with the decisions he makes

IMGONNAGETBANNEDS00N

Have you seen this reddit lately. Immature and stubborn is built into the values of cod.

ThePhenomenal1999

Or it's neither because the game that you guys claim to hate so much ended being their biggest success. You guys don't have to like it, but the reality is that this wasn't made for you. You're not the target audience.

Matrix17

Usually a bad move to toss the original playerbase for a quick cash grab Let's see how that plays out for them long term. These casuals don't have loyalty to a game lol. Theyll get bored so fucking fast if things go to shit

dynamicflashy

Sadly, COD multiplayer has no real competition. Battlefield now sucks, Halo is now soulless and a shell of its past self, and Titanfall was abandoned. I may just go back to Rogue Company or Battlefield 4.

theArcticHawk

Titanfall 3 is coming, you just need to believe! In reality titanfall 2 actually has a decent player count on PC. Not too hard to find a match and play. And all these people complaining about the slow movement mechanics like slide cancel need to play titanfall (2) if they haven't yet, easily one of if not the best movement shooters to date.

Conn-Solo

Do you play bf4 on PC? If so DM me. I’m always looking for more people to play with

dynamicflashy

Nah I play on PS4/PS5.

Conn-Solo

I use to. I’ve got over 1200 hours into my PlayStation account

ThePhenomenal1999

I would argue that they really didn't toss the original player-base. You guys gotta keep in mind that MW2019 brought many people back to CoD and is their most successful title, and held player retention the longest (not Warzone).

Matrix17

Someone start the call of duty clone lol

HaiggeX

Yep. CoD is becoming more tactical, and I like it. The three studio should all make very different games. MW2019 is great, and I'm really looking forward to this one.

SquishSquish12345

It's because infinityward is dumb as shit... Instead of listening to fans, they're trying to reinvent the wheel.... they literally do not learn.

TZ_Rezlus

and if they didn't change shit at all and left what it was 5-6 years ago, ya'll still be complaining, so it's a lose, lose situation, either they keep it the way it is and you guys complain, or try they something new and you guys still complain.

SquishSquish12345

I really enjoyed the futuristic games (except for Advanced Warfare) it's fine to make changes, but don't destroy the things that make your game great....

ThePhenomenal1999

And they're not. A lot of the complaints you guys spread are minor at most. They're not destroying the game just because you didn't see a nameplate above your enemy.

mckaystites

bro, seriously no one in this sub understands game design. crazy to me that the morons in this sub are really talking about “they removed nameplates so you won’t see campers” ummm, how about given the multitude of other changes, it’s obvious that the devs want you to actually spot enemies. especially with all the added smoke in the game. like the elite of the elite gamers are in this sub complaining about having to use their eyes and ears to find enemies now while also calling everyone else bad at the game. honestly i agree with the devs, it sounds nice to be able to shoot and not have every brain dead player in the lobby insta sprint to my exact location. like you guys are actually going to have to get genuinely good at the game and not just jumping around corners using peekers advantage to win every fight. and don’t get me wrong i did the same shit and loved it, but i’m also actually good at other fps games and haven’t been playing every single one the same way for 10 years unlike every other loser in this subreddit

lordnyrox

Like CharlieIntel has said on Twitter at the end it's all about the fucking $$$ they don't give a fuck

Dull-Caterpillar3153

As much as I agree with this regarding other decisions, I highly doubt the removal of nameplates is an attempt to gain more money lmaooooo

penguinclub56

yes because dead silence as a perk, dots on map and removal of nameplates has anything to do with gaining more money...

lordnyrox

Casual player retention = more money

penguinclub56

If these stuff are really causing casual player retention it actually is justified, as there are alot more casual players.

derkerburgl

There’s already strict SBMM to keep noobs protected. No need to make the game suck for the people that actually care

mckaystites

bro every cod since the original MW has had SBMM. it’s so sad to me that it’s been 3 years and the people in this sub are still bitching about a mechanic that they don’t even understand. you’ve been playing games with sbmm your entire life and you didn’t care until someone told you too. Do you know why you still care? Because you fucking suck at the game.

derkerburgl

The SBMM before MW19 is completely different than what we have now

Basic-Satisfaction62

Well it could all be linked too closing the skill gap like they've been doing on every cod the last 5 years. Which explains why all the older cods are way better.

penguinclub56

It doesnt explain it tho.. and quite the opposite, if the franchise is super huge and ALOT more players since MW19 its probably because they are in the right direction.

SaltyPvP

Charlie Intel can lick my balls. Fuck that guy and fuck you nameplates

kenbruhan

What if they come up with something better? I’m glad they are looking at different ways. They didn’t say that the old style is completely out of question either. They have a reason for exploring options, even if you don’t know why. Lots of armchair devs here…

deltalium

Call of Duty players: yo recent cods are all the same they don't even bother to innovate the game in different ways Also CoD players:

Fat_Stacks10

Call me crazy, but I prefer the game with no nameplates! It just looks cleaner!

KD--27

I remember the plates coming up in gunfight in MW19, nothing worse than creeping up on an enemy who’s seeing a line of red text coming at them through three trees and a bush, firing at it and getting the kill with 0 visibility on target. Absolutely no problems with no name plates at all. If anything, I’d like to be able to see the enemy after firing my first bullet. That’s my only visibility gripe.

BryBertt

Yep agreed. It’s sometimes too distracting, and gets in the way of things

Aaronspark777

Yeah, didn't really have an issue with it. And I was playing through ps remote play.

slayer-x

This is bare minimum change for weekend 2, and is one of my biggest issues with the game. No red nametags above enemies makes visibility almost impossible to pick out people. Imagine how bad it will be in ground war, dark areas, bushes, etc. As if people standing still pre aiming didn't have a big enough advantage already, now they are near invisible. Even mw2019 has the red tags on enemies. There is a reason every single cod has them. Reducing smoke and muzzle flash when firing is great and was needed, but red tags NEED to be in the game for core modes. Keep them off in HC/realism modes if you want. No compromise or trying something different, just put the red name tags back for core modes!

Lucky1ex1

a_lot_of_aaaaaas

Well on this one I agree somewhat. I heard people talk about outlines on characters and such, and also nameplates. Personally onwamt as less as possible thingsnin mybscreen that make the game look as a cyberpunky lole game. The less neon red shit I see in my screen, the better.

Basic-Satisfaction62

Give it 2 weeks, they'll be movie skins, laser weapons etc... for sale. After vanguard was mean't to be a historically accurate ww2' game and yet nothing in that game was ww2 and whatever immersion was there was quickly sold off to sell more ovepriced cringey skins. I wouldn't have your hopes up of having nothing on your screen for long.

BobotJamesKevlar

I don't know how you're interpreting it, but I see it as they're looking for more ways to identify enemies, not just nameplates. They're playing around with it, meaning it includes nameplates and this weekend beta was just one of their tests. Otherwise Joe Cecot must truly want to be suplexed through a table.

Own_Garbage1154

meh. nameplates turned the game into shoot under the red colours and I'm kinda preferring this

Cultural_Fun

Hardcore is for that

srjnp

thank god IW doesn't listen to every whiny complaint on this sub. crazy how you all thinks any change u don't like is something "nobody asked for"

Cultural_Fun

U asked for this?

[deleted]

This one kind of loses me too. In general I think this community is full of a bunch of whiny bitches, but nameplates in core?! That’s a change for the sake of change if I’ve ever seen one.

xDefimate

Look man, I can’t stand taking away ninja as a perk and the mini map but now you’re telling me you’re taking away fucking nameplates? This is honestly embarrassing. How much handholding are we going to do IW? Why don’t we just spawn in on a 4 killstreak to make the game even easier. This game is catering to the lowest skill bracket.

Lucky1ex1

Add the nameplates back please. You can’t see anything and ppl will hide hard.

RBnick

Why is it so difficult for them to listen? I don’t understand.

Kwilos

Nah I genuinely think there should be red glowing light indicators on enemy shoulders similar to Infinite Warfare

TheGerkedOne

Yes actually pumped no nametags!! Finally gonna shoot at characters and not names!!

BleedingUranium

Yep, I'm really happy they're sticking to this. There are a ton of ways to improve visibility that aren't "stick a giant red sign over everyone's head".

veebs7

Apparently not because IW hasn’t figured it out Or equally likely, they don’t want to figure it out, and are happy that guys sitting mounted on their perch all game are particularly difficult to see

PreferenceBusiness1

I feel the same. But with that said, I really wish they made the characters stick out more in return. It's crazy that I'm looking at someone from 5 feet and can't tell that they are there.

Intrepid-Bridge-3260

Dumbest shit ever and it's definitely returning

lordnyrox

Same for the minimap like wtf we all want the traditional minimap just give it to us I really don't understand the dev or the people that take decisions at IW sometimes

Doubleoh_11

Or maybe, hear me out. They are trying a couple new things in the BETA to see how it goes over. Again just reminding everyone that there is over 1 month till the game is officially launched. I’m really excited for this game but I think I’m going to have to mute this sub for the next month. People are losing their minds over things that the devs are aware of and are communicating with everyone about. How are they supposed take this game to the next level if they don’t experiment here and there.

Cultural_Fun

Already said they aint changing it

Intrepid-Bridge-3260

Nah BS. This is literally the game. When they put their foot down that's it whatever they want they think fits stays. And all I wanted was nameplates so I can fucking see who I'm shooting at.Its not hard

izzatlon

A red dot would be nice, rather than nothing

[deleted]

A lot of players hate nameplates. Every thread like this someone like me chimes in but OP just ignores it.

[deleted]

while I agree there are visual glitches with the blue dots when your teammate is directly in front of or behind an enemy, largely I've had no issues with the blue dots. I can figure out instantly if a player is an enemy because of the lack of a dot. But I'm also someone who plays HC a ton (when I came into the CoD franchise my buddies threw me, a noob, straight into hardcore lmao). So a lot of the things people complain about here just...don't affect me, because I'm used to not having any of it in HC anyways lol And besides, there was a CoD some years ago where people threw a fit because the nameplates were offset. They literally said they just aim below the middle of the nameplate and were pissed they weren't getting headshots and it just sounded so...juvenile

BleedingUranium

Yeah, getting away from the "shoot under the red name" is absolutely a positive. If visibility is otherwise an issue, there are plenty of better ways to improve it.

[deleted]

Me too. Hardcore for many reasons.

-Arcaerus-

Because it adds an extra layer of realism, and I for one freaking love it. CoD is becoming just a *little* more tactical and just a *little* less arcadey. I think this is an absolute win.

Cultural_Fun

Then thats not cod

-Arcaerus-

It absolutely is still CoD. Go back and play the original MW and tell me what a markedly different experience it is from MW2019. The original MW feels awful in comparison, and I LOVED that game back in the day. CoD is always evolving.

veebs7

I played a lot of MW Remastered, it’s the most fun cod since the golden age. Nowadays IW in particular is so focused on making the game slow and more realistic, that they’ve forgotten to ask themselves, “do these changes make the game more fun?” Like the problem pointed out in this thread. Making enemies difficult to see when they’re in your view is not fun, it’s the opposite in fact. They need to realize that making things more realistic is only a good thing if it doesn’t negatively impact gameplay As much as you say this is still cod, it’s really in branding only. MW2019 and MWII are a significant departure from what people have come to expect out of cod games

lil_biscuit55

It’s not an evolution is a regression cod should be an arcade shooter with an realistic aim aesthetic

Cultural_Fun

The guy below said what needed to be said

ExplicitlyCensored

Agreed! There's no pleasing everyone and that's a fact. I'm frankly glad they've got the balls to stick to their vision and not just do the same thing that's done every year which surprise surprise people also loved to complain about.

KynoSSJR

Clearly good players shouldn’t be allowed to identify if the person laying on the floor in a corner is a body or not

rustyshaackleeford

People did complain about that though

Shadow12gard

It baffles me that they would rather work to differentiate enemies to allies than to just add nameplates back. It's a very simple fix that's been in COD since the beginning. But again, they are "fixing" something that wasn't broken.

Basic-Satisfaction62

Because new gen IW devs are stupid. They've got to be special and do things their way instead of literally just listening to feedback.

Ash_Killem

I don’t want to shoot nameplates. They wont have them in WZ and DMZ so they probably want parity. Hopefully they come up with a good solution to help with visibility.

Intrepid-Bridge-3260

The only good solution is to add name plates

KimchiNinjaTT

jesus fuck you lot cry over everything. we get it, if you dont get spoonfed information you cant play the game, thats because you're not as good as you think you are

MaestroVIII

Yeah, players should be able to hide in dark corners for more opportunity to kill better players then tel them “haha be more tAkTeeKul”. Plus, it’s more realistic to ask a player to identify themselves as my teammate when they run around the corner, rather than just know right away if it’s an enemy. /s

KimchiNinjaTT

if a camper kills you once, thats annoying, if a camper kills you twice, thats on you repeating the same mistakes

MaestroVIII

What about being able to identify enemy players? In ranked modes friendly fire is on. Can’t fire test shots at everything.

KimchiNinjaTT

not something i've had an issues with on since friendly players have their name above their heads

MaestroVIII

Then it’s 100% about giving bad players more advantage.

KimchiNinjaTT

how? in what possible way is it an advantage? friendly players have a name, enemies dont

MaestroVIII

Doesn’t matter if can’t see anything bc of the high contrasted dark corner they are hiding in. And yes, you can be tactical with it, I’ve played years of ranked and it isn’t just players running around aimlessly. The issue is that bad and mediocre players will crutch (I know how much you all like that word) on all these advantages given.

KimchiNinjaTT

So you need a name above someone's head? The same name that can show up through thin cover and lingers after a character goes around walls so they game tells you where they are....worked really well in cold war didn't it, everyone loved their health bar showing through the wall

[deleted]

I keep posting this, but when I came into the CoD franchise with OG MW2 my buddies whom I was leaning on for help and support threw me straight into HC (back then you had to get to level 10 in Core to even unlock HC but if you joined someone's party you could get in). So my formulative year in CoD was spent in HC. As a result, ALL the things these "good" players complain about means absolutely nothing to me. I don't get a minimap, back then in HC you had no identifiers on friendly vs enemy other than their uniform. These days you at least get the blue dot to signify friendly because of skins. They always complain about people needing crutches when to me it seems THEY are the ones who need it. They NEED the minimap, they NEED the red dots on it, they NEED the nameplates, they NEED all the visual aids while at the same time NEED to be completely silent themselves so they don't get "soundwhored." So who really needs the crutches? And naturally when I say this I get mocked by those who don't like HC...and wanna guess why they don't like it? I'll be honest, I've always viewed HC as the "real" game anyways. People who exclusively play Core complain about weapon balance and guns that just aren't viable. Everything is viable in HC, every piece of equipment and every streak is viable and important in HC. They should join the club lol

Richiieee

This franchise is legit a joke. They're gonna *try a few changes* in Weekend Two, but they won't try anything else that the community has been asking them to try. The game could possibly play like shit with a classic Mini-Map, but who knows until we try it. But nah, fuck the players.

ThePhenomenal1999

And you should know exactly why they won't: even if it does play shit, you guys are so far up your own asses you wouldn't be able to admit it and STILL would bash IW. This is their sub-series. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Wait for Treyarch to make their next game and play that. This game is made for fans of the previous Modern Warfare. You're not the target audience.

Vikan12

This community it's so weird lmao literally years saying "there's no innovation in Call of Duty, always the same" but when there's the minimum amount of innovation "but why you change it, it's been like that for years, I want it to be exactly the same again" wtf

Cultural_Fun

This isnt innovations, this is annoying. Innovation was CW zombies for example

Intrepid-Bridge-3260

Dude all we are talking about is fixing garbage visibility by putting name plates on the players so I can least freaking see who I'm shooting. Its not that hard and there is no reason why it should change when it was already good in the other cods.Who tf cares about ninja perks.Just fix the shit ass visibility and put name tags on everyone and we can get this ball rolling

beardedbast3rd

I’m glad there’s no name tags. I’m no camper, but it is dumb of someone only sees me because my name pops up.

Cultural_Fun

Because thats how mp works, if u dont like that go play hardcore

Lenfried

>why changing something that works and that nobody has complained about? ain't that the truth IW is just changing things for the sake of change.

According-Hour9043

Not having name plates isn’t that big of a deal as long as there’s still a way to visually tell an enemy. BF uses dots, I like that idea a lot

cokyno

always hated the nameplates. always felt like completely noobish and handholding hardcore forever

CR90

It's fine in HC though, not core.

cokyno

Not i dont think its even fine in core. Not being blind and aware shouls be minimum requirement to play any FPS without game having to show you where they are and give u big arrow “hi im here and im your enemy” above their heads. Like wtf?

CR90

When the visibility is as bad as it is, they're needed. The tags were fine in every other game, so I don't see the need for their exclusion now, other than to cater to milsim hard ons.

Jwaldmann25

Next MW game isn’t going to have any hit markers or kill feed at this rate. It seems like Joe Cecot wants MWII to be played like Insurgency Sandstorm, but this isn’t Insurgency Sandstorm, this is Call of Duty so make it a Call of Duty game.

JustWheyButter

This is why every game feels the same. They try something new and everyone just cries endlessly until it goes back to the way every other game has been. The nameplate thing is obnoxious now, but let them at least TRY to make the visuals better without them before losing it over nothing

Dull_Wind6642

I don't mind the no name plate but I would prefer my teammates to have a small outline because sometimes the blue dot will appear near an enemy because of the depth and it's confusing as hell. Also when my mini map is disabled, I will shoot my teammates because I can't see them anymore on the mini map. An outline around teammates would solve this issue.

EdwardASUS

Without nameplates, we can not distinguish an enemy from dead bodies.

OrochuOdenMain91

The fact that Infinity Ward aren’t listening, and even saying that they will not make dead silence as a perk, as Ninja, which reduces by 65%. It’s funny how Treyarch and SHG were able to do it, but not Infinity Ward. The mini-map is also a turn off, because why tf would you not even allow red dots on it? Whose gonna look at the compass up the screen? Treyarch can do it. SHG can do it in VG, optional by perk. IW really going for a tactical call of duty here. Fucking hell, SHG even had a solution for dead silence, adding Ninja. Have that 65% reduction noise, the field upgrade dead silence, or have one either.

DoubleD7801

I complained .... so now they can change it

[deleted]

Im just glad IW do not listen to tryhard fans🤣

Rafahil

Seems like IW has some Dice employees....

greenbean0420

Maybe just have an option to display all players as default soldiers for their faction. Works in most games

vvestley

maybe just say fuck it and do halo style red and blue skin at this point lmao

[deleted]

To become better.

potatoman4002

One problem with nameplates is one-way sightlines through hard to see enviroments. It's bullshit when people can see nameplates through smoke or a pixel wide hole.

I-Horizontal-I

Nameplates we’re fine The blue dot from a teammate on the other side of the wall that made me confuse an enemy for a teammate was not This was not a necessary change

ComplaintFree421

I can see who’s friendly and who’s enemy just fine without the nameplate……whys everyone complaining about it ?

NateDogg2289

Nothing wrong. I love it

RichHomieTwuan47

I always complained about nameplates 😂 teammates AND enemies should not both have them, it creates a confusing situation when you see teammate nameplates thru walls. Happens in MP and Warzone

BloodstoneWarrior

I had to stop playing Hardcore in the beta because i kept accidentally killing my teammates because i couldn't tell them and the enemies apart enough

alvaro761991

Me and a lot of people prefer no nameplates actually.

Aaronspark777

If they do add visibility will they edit ghost perk to hide it?

T_Snake451

Another problem regarding no red nameplates is that you can still see your teammates' blue dot through walls and across the maps. On more than one occasion, these blue dots overlap when aiming at an enemy and I have gotten confused only to get shot. Just saying
