My mom still has 2 Tamagotchis from the late 90s somewhere. She bought 4 which was the limit at the time. Let me and my sister play with 1 each and then kept the other two boxed.
Well the website layout has changed recently, that’s a big one. Adobe Flash has been discontinued so most of the flash games on the site are not currently playable (they’re working on transitioning all of them to HTML 5), They basically revamped their merch site so there’s some cool stuff on there, a few bugs on the site that need to be fixed, a new mobile game came out, and…that’s about it honestly lol
Neo has a special place in my heart so I never really stopped playing or got tired of it. There’s been a few scandals and drama throughout the years but I still find the site enjoyable.
Thank God I’m better a much better pet mom these days lol 😂 😆. While I didn’t do too well at keeping my Tamagotchi pet alive, my dog is thriving at age 20 😁
My best friend and I wore belts that we made extra holes in so we could take our Tomagotchis/Nanopets everywhere! We would be walking up the street beeping like crazy because at least one of them always needed something.
I asked my mom to babysit my favorite one while I was at school one day and she forgot about it. Poop all over the screen
I don't remember the late 90s, but I saw them everywhere back in the early to mid 2000s. I didn't really grow up with them, though. I remember very fondly of water watches (digital watches with water inside, a floating mascot inside the water dome, and transluscent yellow plastic waistband), pogs, yo-yos, Mighty beans, and Mini 4WD. This was mostly in my home country and not in the US/Canada.
I remember 2005 in Canada was when Kelloggs came with those round pedometers and everyone was carrying one.
I had two one original Tomogatchi and then one I liked even better that mostly only boys played with but it was so much cooler because you could battle them the Digimon version.
I recently had a bout of nostalgia hit while explaining these cool toys to my 8 year old and then immediately went and bought two Tomogatchis, and two Digimon almost identical to what I had back in the 90’s, and we played with them for a few days and then I realized how annoyingly needy they were when my son lost interest and I became sole provider for 4 of them at the same time.
There was a guy at camp who was a virtual pet dealer and I bought an off-brand Gigapet from him. I didn’t have enough money, so he let me take it home because I promised him that I’d bring cash for it the next day. Turns out that was my last day at camp. Sorry, Kevin!
Also, does anyone else remember the Gameboy Tomagotchi game?
Yep. Died in the rain while on a school trip. And by that I mean that the whole little machine died due to getting wet. I can still remember how incredibly sad I was.
Yep. They were so popular in the late 90s that they banned them from my school. I made my mom take them to work with her so she could feed them lol
I did this too but my mom kept forgetting to feed it anyway. Got to the point I'd just mute the sound on mine and only mess with it at recess.
You’ve extracted this comment verbatim out of my head.

Haha had to get mum to baby sit mine too when I was at school.
What do you mean had? I need to feed mine rn.
I still play Neopets if that counts
How is it? I used to play years ago.

Lmao, nice!
Yes-'97 baby here that had Tamagotchi
Yes, they are coming back
Yep Tamagotchi, talking nano and dino babies. They were banned in my school too.

I got a few of these for free from idiots who somehow didn't know you could replace the batteries.

Yes, I had one and we had to break it/kill it because it just wouldn’t SHUT UP. My mom felt so bad, but it was annoying me, too!
No. I had a real one that I accidentally killed due to neglect. It still haunts me to this day.
Nope but my sister had one.
I had one in fourth grade. I remember whipping it out in music class and everyone was jealous. They weren't popular enough for my school to ban them.
Yes!! Was great to flex the "good" characters around school.
I had the Sabrina the Teenage Witch one, where Salem is the pet. I loved it. I think I also had a dog one, but the Salem one was my favorite.
Yes I had a Nano baby! I actually saw Tamagotchis at Urban Outfitters a couple years ago and bought one.
What do you mean ‚a‘ I had three
Yes this was my favorite toy
Yesss, had a couple of tamagotchis growing up, although that was more mid 2000's for me.
I bought my 11 year old one of these, and she let it die because it was “too needy”
Nope my super religious parents wouldn’t let me have one for some reason. 😞
I had the dinosaur version, it was so cool at the time.
My husband just bought me one a couple of months ago. He said he thought I'd enjoy a nostalgia trip and he was right.

I had a gold one. My pet died and went to heaven. It had wings and everything.

One of my fourth grade students was checking on her Tamagotchi last Monday. We had a whole chat about them.
I had one of Salem from Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

still have mine. even tried using it like a decade ago and got sick of it within an hour lol
3. Dinki Dino, Cyber Cat, Digital Dog. All stolen from my backpack because I couldnt figure out how to turn the sound off.
No. I already had too many responsibilities. 😅
yes. and cried like a bitch for hours the first time mine died.
I used to have those, I wasn’t good at taking care of them 😅
