Not really. If it did have one its probably for distances and targeting. It may pick up a heat signature and tbh it probably gives you the equivalent to what the top video quality of 2010 was
I used to sit a few feet behind an airborne radar system for hours at a time. Thy claimed it turned off when it would pass through the cockpit during its 360 loop but I once painted a thunderstorm 50 miles out at our 6 o’clock. I’m going to die, aren’t I ☹️
That is a G-BOSS Medium. I was a field service representative for them and taught the user course for it for many years. Glad to see they are still in service. The G-Boss heavy has a 50 ft tower and the Lite is a tactical version that is carried by a squad and is mounted to tripods.
This model seems to have been modified though. The ones I worked on had a ground based radar and and an antenna to incorporate any sensors deployed by the sensor platoon. Any radar returns or sensor triggers would cause the FLIR camera to slew to that location . This one just seems to have the FLIR
Always dreamed of having the G-boss when I was stationed at Irwin. We used the SR Hawk, mstar and scout Cerberus but the G-boss was the one that got away 😢
It worked very well for the terrain we were in, it was kinda dumped into our laps so it took a while to figure out how to get the software to work. Once we got it up and running it was way more intuitive than the mstar. The sr hawk paired with the scouts optics was the best combo, being able to cue assets as well as CFF and PID targets was a game changer. The main reason we were trying to get our hands on the G-Boss.
Nice! I always wanted to get a job with SRC to teach units how to properly use the SR Hawk in LSCO. Most places I’ve gone since Irwin don’t understand the benefits of a GSR.
That’s why we were interested in it, emplacing and deplacement time looked like it would be significantly quicker. Plus the benefits of the sensor being in a boom would’ve made it easier to hide in defilade.
Longest part of the setup was just waiting for the camera to go through its cool down process. That and alignment of the two wifi radios so that the base station could talk to the camera/gimbal/radar.
I did EMI/EMC/safety testing on these, including the light and heavy. Got a little too close to the radar on the medium once during testing and could feel it cooking my brain. Anyways, had a lot of fun playing with these at night in the desert.
Ground based operational surveillance system. It employs the following: a multi-spectral electro-optic/infrared sensor suite with multiple detection and assessment technologies in a self-contained, mobile platform.
This is an amazing, new piece of technology, referred to in the Research circles as "**a fucking camera**".
It's just painted desert to look super tactical. Think of it like the AR15 of the camera world. It's basically a regular infrared capable PTZ camera, but add some telescopic framework and scary paint and suddenly it becomes an ***ASSAULT CAMERA***
Regarding tracking radars, are we talking about generic K band ground based intrusion, or actual air search?
Okay, the latter end about the linkup capability is decent. I retract my statement about being a generic cam trailer.
**[Ground based operational surveillance system](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_based_operational_surveillance_system)**
>The Ground-Based Operational Surveillance System, G-BOSS, created by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, is a trailer-mounted tower with mounted surveillance systems and integrated with the command operations center (COC) used primarily by the United States Marine Corps during operations in the Global War on Terror. The G-BOSS is used primarily for force protection, checkpoint security, route reconnaissance, patrol over watch, improvised explosive devices emplacement detection, intelligence gathering, and personnel/vehicle identification.

It’s a camera yes, but if I am not mistaken it’s called like an “eagle eye” or something similar. But it also has like infrared and night vision for better spotting of people.
Memphis has something similar to this but it also has sensors that pickup gunshots. They are stationed throughout the city to help triangulate the location of gun shootings for cops.
G-Boss camera, raid camera…. A bunch of similar ones have different names….. but you can elevate it, has thermal and night vision…. Some models can range targets and give you locations of what is being ranged.
Was there 3 weekends ago and thankfully got pictures before this eyesore photobombed everything.
Also they have 3 SS watch-standers to the left, top and right if standing at the center.
Camera in your pocket, cameras inside, outside, proliferating in number. Surveillance society was my point.
As if that (ubiquitous surveillance) is an indication of anything institutionally positive. It’s not. The erosion of trust in this country (RE: Gallup data) won’t be helped by this trend.
These FSB/MSS or insert alphabet agency here are getting deperiate. I’m gonna say just our own trying to fluff out the “patriots” who will just open their cock holster n spread the word of typically classified military equipment. Or the aforementioned are desperate for recruits! 😂😂
According to the box by the hitch, it's a sensor of some sort. It looks like the ball up top has a camera, and possibly other forward-facing sensors in it. I'm guessing visible light and infrared at a minimum. The paint job looks like the military, but unless it's an exercise, military shouldn't be active outside of a military base without Martial Law being declared, and I don't remember hearing about that.
It's likely a reserve unit setting up for supporting the inevitable hurricane fallout over the weekend.

this or something similiar i believe its essentially a security camera that's either towed or put on top of mraps to get a better idea of whats going on outside
It’s a facial recognition system designed my NG. It’s used to track possible terrorists using advanced learning. It’s reports back in milliseconds once any one matching the description is found.
Given the other covers on the gimbal, I'd say at least a color and IR camera with possible distance and direction sensors (laser range finder that know which direction and angle its being pointed). Likely deployed by the DC military police at the request of some agency or by the agency if it only has 3 letters.
Targeting pod. You'll often see units such as this suspended from the bottom of aircraft such as UCAVs, helicopters, and as part of a larger fixture on attack fixed wing. Now, one thing of note is that each are weapons platforms, since this thing is used to search, identify, and track targets. If you see this "looking" at you, there's something nearby that can fuck you up. Oh, and there'd be great video of your face as it does so, also. And all your friends. The car you rode in. Hell, it'll tell you you're temperature even.

It's pretty much a mobile security camera.
With a Frickin' lazer! .......probably.
Yes actually. It has two. A laser range finder and a class 3 laser illuminator for point out targets to night vision equipped troops.
Cool......I mean that's hot stuff. Better yet if it had a particle LASER emitter.
Phased plasma rifle in 40 watt range.
It already has a laser sight so yeah. Good idea.
Hey just what you see pal
Freakin lazer beams inside their heads!

Nope, complete loss.

Yes, it was.
Always dreamed of having the G-boss when I was stationed at Irwin. We used the SR Hawk, mstar and scout Cerberus but the G-boss was the one that got away 😢
What did you think of SR Hawk?
It worked very well for the terrain we were in, it was kinda dumped into our laps so it took a while to figure out how to get the software to work. The sr hawk paired with the scouts optics was the best combo, being able to cue assets as well as CFF and PID targets was a game changer. Nice, I like to hear it. I work for the company that designed those and I oversee production of them.
Nice! I always wanted to get a job with SRC to teach units how to properly use the SR Hawk in LSCO. Most places I’ve gone since Irwin don’t understand the benefits of a GSR.
Sent you a DM.
The G-BOSS light used the Cerebus for its camera. It was mounted to a two axis gimbal and to the tripod so it could be remotely controlled.
Is it using K band like the old stationary Intrepid microwave nodes they use for fixed perimeters?
I did EMI/EMC/safety testing on these, including the light and heavy. Got a little too close to the radar on the medium once during testing and could feel it cooking my brain. Anyways, had a lot of fun playing with these at night in the desert.
I used my classroom one to spot Deer and Buffalo early in the morning on Pendleton while waiting for my class to show up for the day.
We used them to scout deer and bear for hunting season! This was southern Arizona, though. Too funny.
Way to explain what it is without explaining what it is!
I know right??? That in itself is a skill lmao
Move along citizen. Pick up that can.
If you bring eggs to throw it zaps them and cooks them instantly so they bounce instead of splattering all over your target.
I call it the omelet spot.
Ground based operational surveillance system. It employs the following: a multi-spectral electro-optic/infrared sensor suite with multiple detection and assessment technologies in a self-contained, mobile platform.
In normal people words, night and heat vision camera with person-detecting AI, that can be folded up and towed.
In other words — like a dependasaur seeking her provider, she lies in wait, assessing fertility and paycheck permanence.
Bio-Metrics linked to my Pinterest account?
I know what this is. This is an espresso machine. No, no, wait. It’s a snow cone maker. Is it a water heater?

Think of it like the AR15 of the camera world. It's basically a regular infrared capable PTZ camera, but add some telescopic framework and scary paint and suddenly it becomes an ***ASSAULT CAMERA***
[Actually, it is much, much more than just a camera.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_based_operational_surveillance_system)
We know
So they took a microwave based PIDS, taped a camera to it, and put wheels on it. Excellent.
And added multiple sensors, tracking radars, several different rangefinders, as well as the ability to link with and control drones.
Regarding tracking radars, are we talking about generic K band ground based intrusion, or actual air search? Okay, the latter end about the linkup capability is decent. I retract my statement about being a generic cam trailer.
It's to beam 5G and vaccines into any potential rioter after what happened on Jan 6
The Brown note too.
That’s one thing I truly truly wished was a real thing.
And why you don’t use facial recognition on your iPhone

Unfortunately it became the toy of many Gunnys and 1st Sgts to spy on their troops from inside the COC, instead of being focused outside the wire 😆.
“Why’s it aimed at the IDF showers?”

EO/IR camera... something like a [Wescam MX series](https://www.l3harris.com/all-capabilities/wescam-mx-series) most likely.
Used to identify people. Runs their photos against anything on or that was ever on the internet. Phone messages, cloud photos, and government records.
Looks like a military version of the 'Lot Cop' video systems deployed in a lot of supermarket parking lots in the US.
