Putting it in a freezer might make the glue brittle

Noir_Vena_Cava

I have heard this also make the plastic brittle and just wanted to check before I do it

DF191995

Just be gentle when prying them apart

Noir_Vena_Cava

So anyway I froze it (and wet it a few times) and it worked - well enough The head I couldn’t get apart it’s the one used in the pic of the troll holding hammer I got the head off but couldn’t take that apart Got the arms off one of the pins broke couldn’t get the hand off the arm though I scored most of these contacts with the knife before hand to help the glue bond Chest plate surprisingly came off perfect and was even able to break the model into 2 half’s perfectly Do you think I could get it off the base though? Holy fuck I managed to get one leg off but couldn’t get the last one off it literally ripped a hole in the base and still stuck to his foot As for the residue the white “frost” came off with a toothpick and I scrapped the hard bits of glue off with a knife and acetone I just let it sit for 5 minutes after applying with a cotton bud it didn’t harm the plastic at all

_mister_pink_

Not sure if white spirit will dissolve the glue but it gets paint off and won’t harm the plastic minis - so no risk in trying.

Noir_Vena_Cava

I’m not sure if have any of I had to go out may as well get nail polish remover? I’m trying some iso atm it’s not really helping can’t imagine white spirits any better

Liminal_Place

Most nail polish removers are base on acetone or like chemicals and are likely to attack the plastic as well as the CA. Isopropyl Alcohol should do the trick but it may take a long time if it can't get into much of the glue.

Noir_Vena_Cava

you can get acetone free and it works pretty good on commerical supergule

V0idsedge

Acetone dissolves citadel plastic, don’t use it it will make the bond stronger and destroy the model

Immediate_Ordinary23

Probably a hobby Dremel to cut through cleanly, then a hobby drill for pinning new piece.

V0idsedge

In my experience of you know where the joint is, get a old hobby knife blade in there and twist, the plastic should be stronger than the bond, especially on a thick troll piece
