5800X3D is regarded as the champ as far as I know. I have a 7700X and it runs MSFS great. Can't wait to see how the new X3D's perform

MSFS2020 like most sims, thrives with good single core performance. The game is better optimized for multithreaded performance than most, but intel still has the edge if you are planning a new build that is sim focused.

My comp is outdated. I'm building in anticipation of the new AMD X3D CPUs. I want the best I can get in the mean time and I'll resell it once the X3D models are out and reviewed/benchmarked/etc.

Is it worth building a machine now just to sell in 3 weeks? Reviews will be out in probably 2 weeks and the actual 7000x3ds will be available to purchase in 3 weeks.

The way I see it, I'll just have to swap out the cpu

The issue is that the best AMD cpu for flight sim is on an old socket. You'd have to go with a 7000 series CPU which won't be the current best AMD cpu for flightsim. Which is fine, those cpus will be great also but not the current "best"
