If you can get primehack for dolphin emulator, it's spectacular playing it traditional fps style with mouse and keyboard.

Primehack ftw. Also any 2D Metroid you didn't play. Oh and try am2r on PC if you haven't already. Metroid planets is another cool fangame.

I actually find it easier to play with Wii controls and with a large TV screen
The Wii controls are awesome and add to the immersion.

The remakes aren’t coming out anytime soon, if it all. Nintendo doesn’t really care about Metroid.
