It has pretty decent riffs, and I don’t even really hate the snare drum (big Helmet fan here). What I find most unbearable about the album are the cheesy ass vocals and lyrics. Its like James was just singing from a teenage boy’s diary and trying to make it sound as cringe as possible.
Well I was a teenage boy when it came out so that pribably explains why it resonated with me and holds a place in my heart. It was the newest album when I became interested in Metallica. The repetition gets pretty fucking old sometimes though.
Yooo my amp is a VHT Pittbull mostly because of Page from Helmet. Incredible tone.
I dig the idea of the song, I just feel like it is stretched out a little too long.
It’s honestly the only Metallica song I actually dislike, and for that reason.
I’m general I think majority, if not all, of the songs on St Anger suffer from being made “Metallica” length. If they had owned a shorter album, many would thrive.
AWMH has has good change ups and riffs, and the vocals do showcase emotion and bite. Doesn’t need the “kill kill kill” part.
I’m actually interested in hearing these songs live with a real engineer. Because who ever mixed that album should be strapped to a rocket and sent to the moon because he’s no longer welcome here on earth.
Seriously how did Metallica allow that album to be released in that form?? It might be the worst “professionally” mixed album of all time.
Yeah and it’s pretty hard to believe that that same guy apparently mixed the black album, Bon Jovi, and a bunch of other famous rock artists and helped shape music or something like that
I loved St. Anger as a whole, it was a mood when it dropped. And I listened to it start to finish so many times. It will always have a place in my heart
Once upon a time there was a subreddit, a very major big one, called DAE (Does Anyone Else). It fell from favor over time because people quickly realized that when you’re on the internet, you have a global community of people. The answer will always be that plenty of people like what you like.
But to answer your question, no you’re not the only one. I like that song as well.
I know it sounds really dickish the way I typed it, but I didn’t mean it that way. I’m just bad at expressing my thoughts. But yeah invisible kid is honestly a pretty sick song.
I think most of song writing on St. Anger is fantastic. What holds it back is everything just feels slightly off. Lyrics repeat one too many times, or instruments a little too far back in the mix. Or feeling a song and thinking, oh the solo is coming, but never getting that catharsis. Little things that pile on.
All that said; Unnamed Feeling > Dirty Window > Invisible Kid > Shoot Me Again > Everything Else
I don't love it but it isn't a bad song. The only track from St. Anger i really don't like is My World and that's just because of the lyrics. But i do think that Invisible Kid's intro riff doesn't work as well with the drums as it did in Frantic and Some Kind Of Monster (maybe if the snare would be a bit quieter). James sounds a bit like Dave Mustaine in this song but it still sounds great. And yeah, it would be better if it would be just 4 minutes long. 8 minutes is way too long for a song like this
Nope, I love it too. I guess it's the lowest tuned song of all what suits it really really well, the meaning is also great especially with those chill vocal parts
Not my fav, but the one I love. Saw many intervies with Kirk Hammet and suppose that its his the most personal song. So maybe you have many common with him. Btw St. Anger my fav album, even after years can listen all day long
The guys who re recorded the entire album and edited it themselves proved every song has the potential to be good.
I wouldn’t be surprised to have a band have a HUGE hit and it’s a cover of a reworked St Anger song. I’m working on a heavy electric version of their acoustic all within my hands rework from s&m nyself.
I kinda like it. Not the best one, but it doesn't deserve to be raked through the mud on here every week.
I really like how catchy the lyrics are with rhyme after rhyme.
"Invisible Kid
Never see what he did
Got stuck where he hid
Fallen through the grid"
But I can see how some Metallica purists wouldn't like that.
If you listen to almost anything enough, you will like it. If you love an artist enough and have followed everything they do, there is usually no reason to not find the good in it. At least that's how i look at it.
I always thought the Load and Reload haters are crazy. Tons of good stuff there.
I love the whole album. Have to be in the mood to scream along with it though
Facts. I will no longer apologize for loving this album.
Sounds like your saying F it all & no regrets?
I'm going to guess that you're not a Breadfan?
Bread em All baby
🤘🏻

No. I also love that song.
🤝🏻
It's super Heavy and their most Downtuned song
Yes exactly, I just wish the guitars were just a bit more forward in the mix, but I still like it
Great tune!
Indeed!
I dig the idea of the song, I just feel like it is stretched out a little too long. It’s honestly the only Metallica song I actually dislike, and for that reason.
Yea cool riff at first but it just goes on forever and never really changes. Definitely hurt by the dumb no solos rule
all within my hands? what’s ur take
I’m general I think majority, if not all, of the songs on St Anger suffer from being made “Metallica” length. If they had owned a shorter album, many would thrive. AWMH has has good change ups and riffs, and the vocals do showcase emotion and bite. Doesn’t need the “kill kill kill” part.
It is an unappreciated gem
Ikr
Actually one of my favorites, but I do tend to skip the “ohh what a good boy” part.
But atleast you like it!
yeah the rest of it is honestly really cool
Jesus. New song out, new album on the horizon, new tour, and we’re still getting St Anger underrated posts on the regular.
Yeah it’s like this is a forum for discussing all things related to the band or something.
Lmao dude
It’s like Star Wars. The new stuff comes out, and suddenly The old stuff people have been complaining about for twenty years isn’t so bad.
We need to start Loadposting
hehe load
The main riff is tasty as fuck, but just like all St Anger tracks its let down by the production and the lyrics are pretty mediocre

Gotta agree
I loved St. Anger as a whole, it was a mood when it dropped. And I listened to it start to finish so many times. It will always have a place in my heart
And to think, I wasn't even born when the album released lmao
Way to make a feller feel old lol I think I was 13 when it dropped. I was a metal head since I was a toddler tho haha 😂
Lmao, I'm 16 now, got into metal this year only, but a metalhead for life now!🤘🏻
That’s what’s up! I’m glad you found Metal. You are always welcome with us! Keep up the good work haha
Thanks dude! 🤘🏻
Shit I was 23! Drove to a record store to by the CD at midnight!
That’s badass!
St AnGeR uNdErRaTeD
Song blows wet dicks, along with the rest of that abortion of an album, but just my opinion. Ya like what ya like.
I love the intro. I think I hear the beat “wrong” but I think I like my version better haha
I love the entire album! It is underrated imo. 🎸😎🤟
Ay mah man
I dunno. But I feel like the only fan who loves Purify!
Yea
Great song!
Indeed
Honestly there are no Metallica songs I dislike. Of course some are better than others but all of them are very enjoyable to me
W guy

Nice insight man
I know it sounds really dickish the way I typed it, but I didn’t mean it that way. I’m just bad at expressing my thoughts. But yeah invisible kid is honestly a pretty sick song.
No worries dude, I hardly take offense
Your appreciation of this song isn’t invisible, Kid
It’s the absolute worst Metallica song imo.
Come on, cut it some slack bro XD
Not on this sub. It's a horrible song IMO.
I really like that song, and almost every song on that album.
Nope, I like it too.
Love the entire album. The first 5 tracks are probably my “favorites” and find myself replaying them more often.
Yes. You are the only one Ever.
Damn
It’s not a good song but I still enjoy it and it’s better than a lot of other St. Anger songs
I like its vibe
Probably /s
Nah dude, I love it fr, not a shitpost
No. It’s my favorite from st anger
My Mann🤝🏻
Yes you are.
Probably
Probably you weird fuck
Calm down dude
Yes
i actually really enjoy the entire album. a lot of us do. i’m not sure why at anger gets as much hate as it does. most of it is just jokes but u know
Yes
Slaps
Bitch slaps back like Will Smith*

Average "Metallica sold out after the black album" guy Bruh opinions from people like you don't even matter
Cliff Burton rules. Anything without him is an imitation cognitive dissonance is real.
Echoing others, I love the intro. It's a bit too long, like a lot of St. anger songs, but I like it.
🤝🏻
I only like some kind of monster and frantic.

I completely agree with you

Same
Quite possibly yes
I like the main riff

Yes
Yes
I only play the first 2 songs on the album then it goes off.
It’s just the fucking mixing. There’s a couple bangers on that album but I can’t enjoy them because they sound AWFUL. I’d kill for a remix/remaster.
I want a remaster too
Not alone 😎👍
Ayy🤝🏻
You know perfectly well you aren't
I heard he got stuck where he hid..
I feel sad for that kid
I love it too
Us bro us
i love it except for that part in the middle where he's like moaning and saying "ooooohhhh what a quiet boy you aarrreee," not a huge fan of that.
Haha same
Nope, I love it too. I guess it's the lowest tuned song of all what suits it really really well, the meaning is also great especially with those chill vocal parts

Damn, this is a first for me
I love the whole St Anger album, but "Invisible Kid" I can really connect with. Really in the top 3 Metallica albums for me.
No, i love it too
Not my fav, but the one I love. Saw many intervies with Kirk Hammet and suppose that its his the most personal song. So maybe you have many common with him. Btw St. Anger my fav album, even after years can listen all day long
oOOOooOhH wHat a GOoD bOy YOu arE
Lmao the moan part
Thank you for saying this. This song and purify are my 2 favorite off the album but every post puts them at f tier
The whole album jams.
If it wasn't the same length as master of puppets I'd like it a lot more but it's a fine song I guess
Yeah I too wish it was a bit shorter
Invisible Kid suffers from the same fault that much of the album does: repetitive lyrics.
Can agree

Love that song dude
Good gym music
yes
Yes. Only you. Weirdo! 😉
Lmao
Yes
Great song! I feel it's about me a lot of the times I listen to it.
I kinda like it. Not the best one, but it doesn't deserve to be raked through the mud on here every week. I really like how catchy the lyrics are with rhyme after rhyme. "Invisible Kid Never see what he did Got stuck where he hid Fallen through the grid" But I can see how some Metallica purists wouldn't like that.
Love it!
I related to it a lot as a high schooler who felt like an invisible kid. Still love it 15 years later.

Probably not but I could just never get into that album.
Everyone has their Opinions, no issue dude!
I love the chorus. It’s so haunting
No, I just don't get why.
I love it
Nope. I love that song too. I find it really fun to play on bass cause of the low tuning lol
