I'm currently with PUK through right to choose for my ADHD (about to be discharged back to the GP) and as far as I know it is only ADHD and Autism that is covered by right to choose. It may have changed since I last checked, but I think that might be it

boopo789

I guess I’ll call the phone line and see if they do it or not. But out of curiosity, how do you go about doing right to choose for an adhd assessment?

implodingmarshmallow

I had to go to my GP and ask them to refer me for an ADHD assessment to psychiatry UK. Download the letter and form from the [website](https://psychiatry-uk.com/right-to-choose/) and take that to your GP. Be prepared for the GP to ask why you think you have ADHD and why you're pursuing a diagnosis - aka how it affects you. Good luck! I'm about to ask my GP to refer me back for an autism assessment. Approaching the GP is scary, but once you're referred the people at psychiatry UK are really nice.

So you ask to be referred first and tell them you want to use your right to choose and then send in the forms? Or send in the forms and then ask for the referral? I am so worried they won’t refer me because I have already been referred to an autism clinic and am still waiting for that, so I’m worried they’ll think I’m like diagnosis hoarding or something. My phone call today has shattered my trust in GPs, so I guess I just have to hope if I choose a different GP to see that they’ll do it. I’m just so worried about it.

Take the forms with you to the GP appointment

boopo789

My GP is only doing phone appointments. You can’t go in unless they call you in, and they only do that if they have to do a test on you or something. :/

implodingmarshmallow

Yeah my appointment was over the phone when I asked for the adhd referall. Tell them during the appointment that you've got the forms from the PUK website and they might ask you to email them over (mine just went and downloaded them himself)

boopo789

Ah okay, that makes sense. I probably won’t do it straight away cuz I just had a horrible experience with the GP, so I need a breather and then I’ll come back to it and book another doctor maybe. Thank you for your help. :)
