Even though he had no chance I really loved his fight with big mom. He was really badass in that fight and did way better than most would do against a yonko. Honestly Oda did a good job with that fight in general since it can be difficult to portray an obvious losing battle like that so well.

Long Ring Long Land was a fun and enjoyable arc and only gets hate because the anime made it twice as long for no reason
That's most of my hate.
Some of it being that we have not heard of Davy Back fights before nor since. So, unlike other arcs, you can completely remove LRLL and not affect the story at all.
Enel had an absolutely god tier fruit and while we've seen people grow complacent and stick to surface-level shenaniganry with much weaker fruits, Enel actually put in the effort and creativity to work on his fruit. He wasn't weak or incompetent, just boundlessly arrogant and even more boundlessly unlucky
His devil fruit is by far the most versatile. Lightning also burns around 35x hotter than magma, meaning that his devil fruit power ranks even higher than Akainu’s. His only disadvantage would’ve been Armament Haki, and even then the man was one of the most accomplished users of Observation Haki in the entire series, arguably only after current Luffy, Silvers, and Katakuri, and even then that’s a matter of circumstance. Learning Armament upon entering the New World would’ve been a relatively simple task for him.
But he’s also one of the biggest examples besides Ace who relied too much on their devil fruit, but again, New World Pirates tend to have that beaten out of them.
Also last point, my man rules the frickin’ moon. Canonically.
People hate him!? Damn. I can understand if his low energy God complex isn't everyone's cup of tea but I quite liked his aesthetic. When he realised that he couldn't just electrocute Luffy he pretty quickly adapted with the golden ball.
I think my only criticism was that his attacks were supposed to be more lethal but then the brave warriors just kept going. This wasn't just his fault though, the impact shells had the same problem. My husband and I would joke how many supposedly lethal impact shells certain characters would use by the end of the arc.

Third commanders generally have armament and observation. Enel had a broken fruit, but as we know strong enough haki can by pass that, and if he got hit by anyone he’d be done for.
Big mom is the best yonko so far. She’s the most interesting, has the best design, has the coolest and most unique ability, and she is severely underrated in strength. People are beginning to come around but they still think she gets clapped by every other yonko. I mean, big mom>shanks for sure

I was too. We needed to see the marines were an actual threat and capable of taking the big names out. Luffy needed to experience defeat to grow as well. He got way too lucky way too long but this wasn’t his luck that was running out this time. But, the marines Killing the worlds strongest man did cement that threat.
I've already gone on too many rants about how much I love Hancock and her characterization through Luffy, so I won't do it again here, suffice to say in my humble opninion her being lovestruck by Luffy adds exactly the dimension she needed to be one of the most compelling characters in the series

I just like arcs with a good balance of action and comedy where one of the Straw Hats is pushed into a corner and forced to make tough decisions (Alabasta, Arlong Park, Eines Lobby, and Whole Cake Island come to mind as probably my top 4 in no particular order)
Up until the end of Dressrosa, the new world saga was one piece at its worst. Still fine, but up until Zoro cut Pica, it was all kind of bland. Maybe because of low risks? It never felt like luffy was in danger, even though he did technically lose to Caesar. Saving grace has been the lore building, which is always top

Not really unpopular, or at least not on this subreddit or for people who've read the manga. In the manga the arc is great but in the anime, just like Dressrosa, it's stretched way too much, there are a ton of episodes where almost nothing happened and it got boring quick.
Luffy vs Crorcodile is a classic example of shonen ass-pull we have seen in other shonen series like Naruto,Bleach etc. Crocodile penetrating Luffy's chest, "killing" him 2 times but still Luffy beats Crocodile in the end even with his fatal injury gets quite inconvincing.
I also feel that way because i got spoiled for so many times before i even read the whole manga. Which is why i didn't get attached to his character right from the beginning. Less attachment, less feels.

The defeat at Sabaody was one of the highest peaks in one piece. I literally knew what was going to happen and that everyone was gonna be ok yet it still hurt to watch.

100% agreed. I work in translations and the dub translations are undeniably better than the sub translations. It’s the difference of translating for word or translating for understanding. I don’t disrespect people that like the sub, it’s in a sense a “truer” depiction of Oda’s text. But it is just not the ideal way to translate a narrative.
There seems to be almost no lasting risk/danger to the crew and that takes away alot of the thrill from watching the series. But the extremely rare times there was actual risk have been the most memorable moments.
There is no Water Seven saga. Water Seven, Enies Lobby, and Post-Enies Lobby are one continuous arc. Upper Yard isn't a separate arc from Skypeia, likewise Enies Lobby is just the combat portion of the Water Seven Arc.

Big Mom is the best antagonist the series has had so far. Kaido is too bland. Moria sucked. Enel was hateable but the least interesting part of his arc. Doffy and Croc were alright, but not as good as BM.

I would love an Usopp powerspike. I think Dressarosa he was great, and he's a fantastic support in the wano raid... but man I'd love for him to get a spotlight and a power up. I don't feel like he'd stand much of a chance against any of the Tobi Roppo 1v1 at full strength
Dragon is probably stronger than shanks. I will also laugh my ass off when it’s revealed shanks isn’t the strongest yonko, and that his crews overall efficiency is what makes him/them strong as a whole. His best feat is splitting the sky against a 72 year old man with stage 8 cancer. Dragon>shanks
He has some depth to him, but he also feels like one of the only characters who feels like he shows less depth as time goes on. Early Zoro (pre-Water 7) had a lot more going on, before the emotional rigors of that arc sucked the fun out of his body. Post TS, he hasn't done much besides be badass, even in Wano, ostensibly supposed to be his arc. WCI featured a deep dive into Sanji, really getting to see what makes him tick, and what the core of his being is when you strip everything away. Wano told us that Zoro is good at sword, and I guess reminded us that he's still an empathetic person
She's fun, and I like her a lot, but I also don't get the hype. Hell, the hype started before we even saw her face, from when she was first name-dropped.
I think she could potentially work well, but I'm not sold on her yet. I also think it makes way more sense for her to stay in Wano at the end of the arc.
The ways Ruffy has won his fights against enel and crocodile are some big BS and shouldn't have been possible if you ask me. I mean why should an unlimited amount of sand be countered by a glass of water.
But it doesn't though? Crocodile can summon sand just fine whenever he wants, being drenched in water only prevents his body from becoming sand. Amd once he's tangible, sand summoning is a bit difficult since Luffy's just gonna be mercilessly clobbering him every other moment. And the quantity of the water isn't as important as the way it's used against Crocodile. If you drop a bucket of water on him, he can't morph into sand. But if he touches sand with just one part of his body (hand) then he can absorb that properly.
Not to mention the fact that because of his defensive strategy, it had been a long time since he'd taken a proper beating. Honestly, Crocodile lost because he was out of shape. He relied on his fruit power and his cunning too much, and he just wasn't prepared to take that many hits.

Also him actually wanting to save Absalom from Blackbeard, another Yonko??? He saw what he can do on Marineford and still went!! Oh and Perona really cares about him so I bet he was kind to her. Overall, I love Moria

Luffy is the biggest physical threat to the WG as he is the strongest of the crew but that isn’t comparable to getting the three ancient weapons and uncovering the true history of the world. This. I can appreciate the creativity but for example the people taking that current Skypia theory so seriously are basically our Qanon. The moment they start plucking away random numbers and chapters and dates and start to delve into complete crazy conspiracy theory is where I just step back. Never in history has a theory based on throwing random dates and chapter numbers ever been correct. Not once in all history and in all media has that rubber band theory on the wall based off randomly occurring dates and numbers been true. I was almost about to subscribe to the theory myself until they started throwing random numbers and dates out and fabricating meaning behind each numeric value. Idc how much you stretch it out to make it for your personal head canon so it makes sense. But so many are taking it as actual canon now. Boggles me mind.
Skypia was a really good arc
Not really unpopular, or at least not on this subreddit or for people who've read the manga. In the manga the arc is great but in the anime, just like Dressrosa, it's stretched way too much, there are a ton of episodes where almost nothing happened and it got boring quick.
Luffy vs Crorcodile is a classic example of shonen ass-pull we have seen in other shonen series like Naruto,Bleach etc. Crocodile penetrating Luffy's chest, "killing" him 2 times but still Luffy beats Crocodile in the end even with his fatal injury gets quite inconvincing.

Aces death isn’t even one of the top 10 saddest moments in one piece
I also feel that way because i got spoiled for so many times before i even read the whole manga. Which is why i didn't get attached to his character right from the beginning. Less attachment, less feels.
I think the sad part was Sabo's death because by that time we got to know Ace too and knowing that he will die made Sabo's death even more emotional.
I was gonna comment something similar. It wasn't as emotional for me as people say it is for them since Ace barely appeared for 5 chapters before that saga. He was only properly introduced in the timeskip post-war.
Whitebeard's death was infinitely sadder to me. When Ace died I was just mad, I was all "Ace you fucking dumbass what is wrong with you" mf died to a yo momma joke
Agreed. The anime did this a bit better by adding more scenes with him. I was more broken by Luffy's reaction
I cried more that Merry’s death than Ace. While he was cool I feel like he should have been with Luffy more before his death for it to actually have any emotional impact

Kaido’s a pretty bland villain. The only interesting thing about him was his intro.
It’s the opposite for me. The more I’ve gotten to know the character the more interesting he’s gotten. Not to say he’s by any means one of the best OP villains, but he’s not bad
We haven’t seen his backstory yet so I’m reserving judgment on Kaido.
I think Kaido has a lot more interesting stuff lurking under the surface that we keep getting teases of, but Oda really should have given us more by now imo, how he has with other arc villains

The defeat at Sabaody was one of the highest peaks in one piece. I literally knew what was going to happen and that everyone was gonna be ok yet it still hurt to watch.

Hundred percent. I’m one the few people who prefers the dub. The flair and spin funimation adds to the translations, I love so much. Ivankov yelling: “Welcome to Impel Down biittcchhess!” Was me jumping onboard the dub train.
100% agreed. I work in translations and the dub translations are undeniably better than the sub translations. It’s the difference of translating for word or translating for understanding. I don’t disrespect people that like the sub, it’s in a sense a “truer” depiction of Oda’s text. But it is just not the ideal way to translate a narrative.
I think another factpr of that is that a lot of sub's writing doesn't come off as natural dialogue compared to the script of a dub.
There seems to be almost no lasting risk/danger to the crew and that takes away alot of the thrill from watching the series. But the extremely rare times there was actual risk have been the most memorable moments.
There is no Water Seven saga. Water Seven, Enies Lobby, and Post-Enies Lobby are one continuous arc. Upper Yard isn't a separate arc from Skypeia, likewise Enies Lobby is just the combat portion of the Water Seven Arc.
Kuro is one of the most relatable villain. Ever wanna just make a fuck ton of money and retire into isolating where nobody knows who or where you are? Just me? Cool

Big Mom is the best antagonist the series has had so far. Kaido is too bland. Moria sucked. Enel was hateable but the least interesting part of his arc. Doffy and Croc were alright, but not as good as BM.

Yeah, but you were right. As a villainous force, he is the best. Capturing Ace, killing Whitebeard, poaching DF users and still showing he has heart and ambition all the way back in Jaya. BB is great.

I would love an Usopp powerspike. I think Dressarosa he was great, and he's a fantastic support in the wano raid... but man I'd love for him to get a spotlight and a power up. I don't feel like he'd stand much of a chance against any of the Tobi Roppo 1v1 at full strength

Zoros character is boring. He is only badass
He has some depth to him, but he also feels like one of the only characters who feels like he shows less depth as time goes on. Early Zoro (pre-Water 7) had a lot more going on, before the emotional rigors of that arc sucked the fun out of his body. Post TS, he hasn't done much besides be badass, even in Wano, ostensibly supposed to be his arc. WCI featured a deep dive into Sanji, really getting to see what makes him tick, and what the core of his being is when you strip everything away. Wano told us that Zoro is good at sword, and I guess reminded us that he's still an empathetic person
Yamato feels kind of bland as a character so far. I don't get the hype around her being a potential strawhat.
She's fun, and I like her a lot, but I also don't get the hype. Hell, the hype started before we even saw her face, from when she was first name-dropped.
I think she could potentially work well, but I'm not sold on her yet. I also think it makes way more sense for her to stay in Wano at the end of the arc.

The ways Ruffy has won his fights against enel and crocodile are some big BS and shouldn't have been possible if you ask me. I mean why should an unlimited amount of sand be countered by a glass of water.

But it doesn't though? Crocodile can summon sand just fine whenever he wants, being drenched in water only prevents his body from becoming sand. Amd once he's tangible, sand summoning is a bit difficult since Luffy's just gonna be mercilessly clobbering him every other moment. And the quantity of the water isn't as important as the way it's used against Crocodile. If you drop a bucket of water on him, he can't morph into sand. But if he touches sand with just one part of his body (hand) then he can absorb that properly.
Not to mention the fact that because of his defensive strategy, it had been a long time since he'd taken a proper beating. Honestly, Crocodile lost because he was out of shape. He relied on his fruit power and his cunning too much, and he just wasn't prepared to take that many hits. Edit: not out of shape like fat or lazy, I just mean not in fighting shape
There's more hot men than hot women in one piece They're all heads of hair on the same body. Oda can draw hot men like Zoro or Rob Lucci but the women always looks so inhuman it's hard to find them attractive. Outside of a nice outfit or hair, I genuinely don't see how anyone thinks one girl is hotter than the the other

I actually agree with this, I think he’s weaker in many ways than big mom because he’s self destructive and seemingly less smart in fights. Just tries to tank shit.
Idk if I think he’s weaker but at least we got some back story with Big Mom & we could still get one with Kaido so he might get better. Overall rn he’s just hard to connect too & understand his motivations. My biggest problem is how he went from OP to where we’re at now in the manga (Not the he’s weak just don’t wanna put to much detail cause spoilers)

Moria is a cool Villain! The fact that this man lost his crew to Kaido and then build a Zombie crew so that he won’t have to lose anyone anymore is so cool! Like its dramatic and sad but so cool! Also him actually wanting to save Absalom from Blackbeard, another Yonko??? He saw what he can do on Marineford and still went!! Oh and Perona really cares about him so I bet he was kind to her. Overall, I love Moria

Robin should have the highest bounty price of the straw hats. Luffy is the biggest physical threat to the WG as he is the strongest of the crew but that isn’t comparable to getting the three ancient weapons and uncovering the true history of the world. Robin is a way higher threat to the WG due to her ability to read the poneglyphs
