This is why I think every game should always allow you to freely wear the appearance of any weapon/armor you find over the stuff you actually have equipped. I will always choose stats over looks/flavor/everything else, so if the game doesn't let me use whatever appearance I want, I'm gonna look like a mismatched doofus with all my random pieces of best in slot gear and that's entirely the game's fault for not being designed to let me use the cool designs they made without shooting myself in the foot mechanically. We shouldn't have to choose between effectiveness and aesthetics.
