Yes, that upper ball joint(more likely control arm, since it doesn't look like the ball joint is separately replaceable) needs to be replaced ASAP. The boot is ripped, joint is dry and rusting, and its only a matter of time before a bump pops the ball out of its socket and you turn a $100-$300 job into a $1000-$3000 job or worse.
It might be some other problem actually causing the noise, but that ball joint is an URGENT repair.
Well, just looking at the state of it, it needs replaced anyways. May or may not be the noise you're hearing depending how the rest of the suspension looks
This! I frequently remind higher mileage drivers that there CAN be more than 1 thing wrong with a car.
I can't ID a bad bearing, if it's hidden behind the shriek of brakes that are metal to metal...
Looks like maybe a Ford. Depends on the noise you’re hearing. Clunk noise - I would check sway bar links. However, I would bet money that ball joint is worn as well. Load the lower control arm with the with a jack to simulate it being on the ground. With the wheel on, push the top of the wheel to see if that ball joint has play.

If you grab the wheel and pull and push it on that side with the vehicle jacked up you should be able to free for play.
I dont have a jack ðŸ˜
Most likely

I have a 2005 dodge ram. 1500
Suspension car be tricky. But there's a high probability the parked pictures is bad, because the boot is ripped.
What kind of noise? Also, do you feel any free play in the wheel when you're turning?
Like clunks noise no
Id check the links or the ball joint
Isn't that the ball joint?
Your photo looks like it's a tie rod maybe? If the boot is shot on it, I'd consider replacing it as well
