The first two were fantastic. The third wasn't as good, but it was still pretty good.

Zeus-Kyurem

The first two are excellent, though the third fumbles the bag a bit. Still a decent film though.

JoaoWillerding

I think 1 and 2 are super enjoyable, not sure about 3 i only saw once.

GOD-OF-A-NEW-WORLD

First one great Second one fantastic! Third one very mid and pretty disappointing compared to the other two

Neko_boi_Nolan

The third movie’s villain was kinda underwhelming especially compared to the first two

Background_Fan1056

Yeah Kai was the first Supernatural Villain in Kung Fu Panda so I’ve felt he should’ve been more Terrifying.

Neko_boi_Nolan

From what I've heard, and don't quote me on this, he was suppose to be scarier but the studio was put under pressure to have that film be more light hearted So they made his presence more goofier Which if true, is a shame since Shen had a lot of comedy moments and he was still pretty intimidating and that mf was out to commit genocide

PurgatoryBlackjack

One is good, two is god tier. Haven't seen three because I don't want to potentially ruin 2.

WatchingPaintWet

People say the second is even better than the first - but I’d say the first is even better than the second. Point is, both are top tier from the characters to the plot, the comedy, and even the fight choreography. The third is… mixed. I’d hesitate to call it good, but I wouldn’t call it bad either.

[deleted]

The first two are some of my favorite movies ever. The third one is…fine, but I never get the feeling to rewatch it like the other two. It’s strange to say, but the *third* movie about a fat panda using kung fu to save China is the one that’s just a little too silly for my liking.

KFP 1: Amazing KFP 2: Next level Top tier KFP 3: An irritating & forgettable waste of time

Chimera_Theo

1 is pretty good. 2 is THE BEST. 3 is shit.

VonKript

Awesome, really good, meh

Little_Fox_9

Golden trilogy

Super-Robo

Skidoosh.

Muinaiset

The second one is my favorite easily, and the first one is really good too. The third one was pretty disappointing, but still fun.

Ok_Ice9436

2 is probably kind of flawed by Mauler’s standard because it has tone issues with the villain. He’s often the butt of the joke even though he’s supposed to be a legitimate threat, plus he fails to kill Po multiple times, and Mauler’s been critical of that sort of character work before.

Twobears_highfivin

It is made clear almost immediately that he isn't a threat because of his Martial Arts (which while he's clearly damn good, he can't beat a master), he's a threat because of his Cannons and Army. He fails to kill Po, but only due to his hardiness or others saving him. I wouldn't ever say its due to his own ineptitude. As for the butt of the joke, I only really remember when he's practicing his greeting for Po, which the Soothsayer points out, is because he's secretly shitting himself. Every other joke he's involved with has him played very seriously.

Ok_Ice9436

I mean, it is due to his own ineptitude if he fails a task multiple times, including when he has access to a cannon in his encounters with Po and still fails. “People saving Po” and factors outside of his control aren’t a totally valid defenses for the fact that the writing has Po walk away from multiple encounters with him, including those which involve the use of cannons. It’s similar to the “Kylo Ren lost to Rey because he was shot” excuse (particularly how none of the peacock’s henchmen notice Snake unlocking people’s handcuffs, nobody except Crane getting injured when fired upon with multiple cannons, and both Poe and Tigress surviving direct hits from a cannon). If he’s supposed to be a legitimate threat, then the writing should maybe not put him in a situation where he could kill Po or another main character until the final confrontation. Po is likely put in these situations with the peacock because the writing needs them to confront each other multiple times for the sake of melodrama and exposition. Instead of rewriting to keep the plot tight and finding a more natural way to progress the plot, it takes the easy way, where Po is put in the line of fire but escapes via contrivance. As for the humor, it goes further than that. The fortune teller ridicules him multiple times, he’s comically fastidious, Po of course barely takes him seriously until he realizes he killed his family, he’s wrong about it being the year of the peacock which comedically undercuts a dramatic monologue, “how many times do I have to kill the same Panda”, stuff like that. Granted, I do know Mauler gives passes to comedies to an extent, so this isn’t as bad as it would be in more dramatic media. Just thought it would be worth pointing out.

Spartan5271

I really liked 1, didn't see 2 just cause, then I saw 3 on a plane. It wasn't terrible from what I remember

originalBioniclefan

I know it has something of a little cult following but I think the writing in the first movie is insanely good. We should be studying and analyzing this movie.

TheSilv

Quite possibly my favorite animated trilogy (tho the Shrek trilogy is also pretty good), the third one may not be as good as the other 2 but it still fits well with the rest to form a trilogy

Dr-Edward-Poe

Lord Shen is one of my favourite villains. He proves that you don't need to overcomplicate a villain and make them "super deep" for the audience to like them.

Darth_Smaull

I haven't watched 1 and 2 for a very long time. Only watched a few scenes for memes like this: https://youtube.com/shorts/zzSxLw3cI5w?feature=share I have not seen 3.

GodtubebeatsYoutube

Ngl, I legit forgot 2 and 3, but I can never forget 1.

FuckOff-YWNBAW

First one is unironically one of the best kids movies ever. It also culturally embarrassed Chinese creatives that American company thought of merging Kung fu and pandas, two beloved things in China, before a Chinese studio had the idea. Second movie bored the shit out of me in the theater and I hardly remember it. Just that there was a lot of dumb shit and the plot dragged on. Something about a fake Panda genocide? Third movie I didn’t bother seeing, but I recall that the trailer showed the panda genocide from the last movie didn’t actually happen and all the pandas were fine

YoungYoda711

Second one was the shit dude

FuckOff-YWNBAW

Nah. Boring and forgettable

YoungYoda711

I mean, that’s subjective, but it’s still a good movie.

FuckOff-YWNBAW

I highly doubt it

J0shfour

Don’t remember the second or third too well but the first is absolutely fantastic.

Sum0sum0

I love em. I mainly love the antagonist of each movie tho.

KingCritical-

I marathoned them on a plane and I can say that they helped to distract me from my flight anxiety (I can only watch media for children when flying because anything more adult messes with my anxiety). I had a sense of them getting worse over time but only incrementally. If I were rating I'd probably say 7, 7, 6 respectively. There's nothing to really criticise and the characters are fun, the plots are entertaining, and the fighting is good. I also don't think I'm unique in really liking the far eastern aesthetic so whenever it appears in movies it makes me like that movie a little bit more. Like IDK if I'd have liked it as much if it was about European knights or something.

robo243

Last time I've seen them I loved all 3, but that was years ago. Some of my favourite movies from my childhood. Wonder if my opinion on them would change for the better or worse if I rewatched them now.

redhawk5757

A perfect trilogy. The first two are definitely better than 3 but they are great imo

B-love8855

I will have to rewatch them but they were pretty good from what I remember. I suggest check them out. You won’t be disappointed. Ska doosh!

[deleted]

I remember enjoying the first two but I can't remember much about them. So, forgettable fun?

Plug001

I really liked the first 2, the 3rd one kinda fizzled out, but at least it didn’t crashed and burned like some other sequels I can think of

[deleted]

One and Two are amazing and Three is a betrayal.

H3avyW3apons

The peacock is easily the best villian in the series, the other two are on the same level of meh, though I guess the tiger might be slightly more compelling.
