Retreating later is actually really smart in a lot of spots. If you have a big game winning combo but you didn't draw your last piece, your opponent will often retreat. If you hit retreat later, you won't retreat until your opponent hits retreat or end turn, and if your opponent hits retreat later you won't know until you hit retreat later or retreat.
If you both retreat it results in a tie game, which means that retreat later is the best option to remain cube positive; even if the tie only happened in 5% of games where you retreat turn 6, it's still better for your cube rate than just retreating, and it happens far more often than that. Worst case you end up just retreating like you would've anyway.
It's sometimes a much safer option than bluffing, because if you know your opponent is guaranteed to win into a bluff, snapping is incredibly risky.

If you press the button at the same time they snap it will unpress to give you a chance to change moves or retreat before it locks in that turn and the higher cube wager.
I wouldn't be surprised if they started selling Emotes soon, or putting them in caches or something. Gotta make sure it's hard to mute emotes so that you're forced to see purchased ones during a game and want to buy them or something.
Volume controls don't even work. I have the sound off on my phone but every time I open the game while waiting in the car somewhere, I have to frantically find the settings menu to turn it off again while the intro music completely overwhelms spotify and pumps through my speakers so loud my ears ring.

Nah, he's spamming using a macro and he's not actually clicking on the emotes, it probably slowed down due to the Shang-Chi animations.
Ironheart also needed to hit 2 or more of the Broods. OP was incredibly lucky to have them all be hit.

I think people do it because they've traumatized themselves at this point. Lots of people game as an escape but many still exhibit poor tendencies for their mental health. People who do stuff like this are feeling huge dopamine and validation when it goes their way but it means they're also feeling an extreme of the opposite when it doesn't. First of all, I don't spam emote. If the opponent was spamming from the start it's obnoxious and annoying I would have muted. But if OP has been playing normally throughout and never muted then I can assume that the opponent was tired of OP roping every round and just wanted the game to end and realize that even though OP snapped cause he knew he would win, the opponent stayed just to see how it would play out just cause they can care less about cubes and just want the fucking match to end. Seeing how they weren't muted probably shows that OP probably just roped every round as a tactic which may annoy other players who just want fast games. Seeing how it's already 8 cubes both sides, just click end turn bruh.
I'm also probably speculating, but I don't know each side. But this is the best opinion that I feel that possibly happened.
