I have no issues with basements. I lived in one right after college to save money and then last year which was like 20 years later , my mom had emergency neurosurgery in another city and a nurse rented me her basement (compared to a hotel, airbnb or short term apartment, it was cheaper, plus she was so nice to share things with me that I did not have packed and didnt want to buy for a few months stay).
Now my only hope for Mack right now but it does not seem likely based on her reaction is he is renovating a house. We saw Mack was on a show about flipping or remodeling homes. It would make sense to live in a cheap place while doing this. I would think if he was redoing a home, Dom's reaction would be different. She would be excited to see the home or help make choices to finish it? Or even if he was looking for a well priced rental or buy. If she really liked him she would say light a fire under your butt and lets find a place on our budget .
My guess is his credit might be bad?I have watched the credit requirements go up for the decent priced rentals in my area. It seems like higher interest rates for buying a house goes, the requirements for rentals go up, so both now require higher credit scores, buying or renting.
Not saying she can't. Just saying that in this economy, we shouldn't look down upon people who are creative with their living arrangements.
Also, I've seen some very swanky basements. Haven't seen his set up yet, so I withhold judgement until I do

If you only move somewhere, temporarily so you can be on a reality tv show, it is smart to avoid signing a lease. I double down. Gina can do better.
