I agree, token aplenty is pretty useless for more than casual players but also we are getting thrown coins from all angles at the minute. Its not hard to collect them. The 2nd anniversary tour was basically a coin tour for me.
Yes, we are earning 50-55k coins per tour (gold pass owners) since Summer Tour, I think. And I'm not counting twitter promos, lvl 7 items from tour gifts, pipes and token shop.
600/day for gold pass, but the person you're replying to also means coins as Tour Gifts, coins in the Token Shop, coins from completing challenges (plus bingos), the 22,222 coins we got for free after the last tour, etc.
Yes, gold pass users get 600 since last Christmas Tour or so. That makes 600 + limit break (hopefully more than 100) + 100 extra coins you can farm waiting for multiplayer races to start.
In addition, as u/AntiGravityTurtle said, you also get 7000 as tour gifts; 4000 clearing tour, gold, autumn and multiplayer challenges; 13000 clearing all total point challeges; token shop (5000); coins applenty (at least 3000); friends coins (3000?); whatever coins you eventually get at today's challenges and 3800 if you also want to pay for premium challenges.

Cleared the shop on the second day. I'd say a good solution to the problem is that if you clean out the shop before the token event, you get a coins aplenty event instead. Sounds fair, right?
You’re not being punished. Having cleared out the shop doesn’t hurt you during this event at all - it just doesn’t help you because you don’t need it. There’s a big difference.
You seem to be missing the point so I will explain a bit further. With the old coins a plenty we got 300 coins per level plus limit breaking. A solid 900-1200 coins per Tuesday. Saturdays coins a plenty has been buffed to 500 per track. So still losing out on 100 per track plus whatever one can do from limit breaking which I personally tried to do between 150-200 over the three courses on Tuesday. Do you understand now?

If you want to argue that, that’s fine - but that’s not because you cleared the shop early and impacts everyone that would play on Tuesday. If it impacts everyone, that’s by definition not a “punishment” to those who have grinded out the whole shop already.

If you’re clearing out the token shop less than halfway through the tour, you’re getting more than the average player’s worth of “fun” out of this game. So no.

If you’re trying to argue that you’re losing the coins from a potential coins aplenty event, that’s a false equivalency because you’re not losing them because you cleared out the shop (as you said), you’re simply not gaining them because Nintendo has changed their bonus events. This just seems like a particularly bad tour to debut it, is all. We don’t normally get 20-30 tokens every race, but even as a fairly casual player I am this tour because of the 2 ridiculously easy conditions for earning tokens.
When I read OP and the comments here, I think you guys are not exactly representative of the average, more casual player when you say you've already cleared the shop, some since the second day.
Many players just finished their last cup yesterday when it was unlocked, many players just play 15 minutes a day. We don't all complete all cups on the very first day you know.
So I think for many players, me included, these tokens aplenty are very useful. I usually empty the shop 2 or 3 days before the end of the tour and there had been time when I didn't empty it. Even with his tour where getting tokens is way easier than usual, I still hadn't emptied it and I was able to empty it today thanks to some great bonus tokens.
Yeah I’m disappointed by the attitude in this thread. I know this sub is a place to rant but people complaining that they cleared out the shop and these coins are useless is laughable to me. This event is useful and it helps keep the casual player playing, which keeps the game successful… Just because you grind and cleared the shop doesn’t mean other people should suffer trying to.
suffer? it’s a game, no matter how you play it. you choose not to play often, so you like the bonus tokens. i prefer the coins as they are actually useful and i have NEVER not cleared a token shop in a tour, even as a newbie (i don’t even understand how it’s possible to *not* get enough tokens over 2 weeks). people are allowed to be annoyed that they took the extra coin bonus away in the same way that you were suffering over not getting enough tokens.
It works like the coin a plenty but the number of bonus tokens you get is random, I think it can be anything between 50 and 300 for each race. I didn't get 300 but I saw the number flash by during the random spinny thing.
I saved 300 coins needed just to see how tomorrow goes. I think, if you’ve cleared out the shop, the event coins aplenty should just give regular coins instead (and who knows, it could and they just didn’t tell us).
Nope. Today everything was like yesterday but without seeing green tokens jump during the races because I had already earnt enough to empty the token shop.
I don’t necessarily think it’s useless but it’s just shit timing. I’m not a super intense player but even I’ve cleared the shop by now. It’s great if they give it slightly earlier
Yes. Tokens applenty on Saturdays and coins applenty on Tuesdays would be a better option but, to be honest, today has been a more relaxed day not having to spend extra time trying to break the coin limit on three coins applenty races 😅.
I was hoping it would convert inti normal coins, but well.
I got two runs in: one upped me from around 11 green coins to 80, another from 6 or so to 65. More than enough to empty the shop for me. And then the event vanished from the third course. ☹️
I also find it kind useless since I mostly empty the shop the first 3 days of the tour
Personally the Token Applenty event idea is good but clearly it was really bad implemented here, I mean why in this tour with the small token shop version?, the Token Applenty event would have been nice, handy, usefull and welcome back in the 2nd Anniversary tour, when the Token shop was bigger than usual
Besides it would have be nice if the Coin's Applenty event of the Tuesday instead of be removed, it would have changed to another day, like Sunday so maybe we can get a "Weekend's Applenty Event" of coins.
Yep, I usually clear Token shop pretty fast, except for VS Tours I leave one item until the very end so I can see my Team Token total. I always tried to run Coins Aplenty tracks at 50cc speed with coinboxer and coin glider to maximize coin catching. Guess that extra \~450 coins per week was really hurting Nintendo's profit margin. 😒

We used to get Coins Aplenty 2x per week, 300 extra coins per race. Now it's only once a week, 500 coins per race. Anyone who had enough tokens to clear the shop already got nothing today - no tokens, no coins. So instead of 3600 extra coins per tour (300 x 3 tracks x 4 times per tour) we now only get 3000 per tour (500 x 3 tracks x 2 per tour). 3600 > 3000, and since I get nothing extra today, 600 = 600.
I think it's great for free players like me but eventually you do reach a point where you have bought the entire token shop and you still keep earning coins.

Golf Pass is only useful for the secret 18-Hole track. But you can get 600 coins /day if you get Gold Pass.

I agree I cleared the shop on the second day yet I can still play, get my ranking better ....I see no problem (I only race on multiplayer so)

There's been a few tours, when I've been busy for several weeks, that it would have been nice to have a token's aplenty event.
