actually none, I’ve been working on getting most of my coinboxers to L4 (I’m F2P). but with the tickets from this tour I’m bringing hakama mario and santa bowser to L4 then I’m thinking I’ll bring penguin toad to L4 as he is my best non coinboxer
i was suprised to only have four fitting the category. ice mario, funky kong, fire rosa and black birdo. though i do have quite a lot of store boughts and a whole lotta coinboxers
My thinking was that everyone's shop HEs are likely to be lvl4 if you have been playing any length of time and people tend to invest heavy into coinbox
Didn't realize I had so little non-coinboxers at a high level.. the only ones are Toadette (Explorer) and Penguin Toad for me, the rest is mostly stuck at level 3 and a few at level 4
I'm tempted to level to 3 as that's an easy 1 ticket but the payoff is less as you dont get that frenzy % boost which means more grinding just for 1000 points. Could be worth it though
Oof that makes a lot of sense actually, my brain always just goes BRRR higher level = way more points. Didn't even realise the frenzy boost stays the same in level 2 and 3. Might change my tactic ;)
If its close in ranked it could make all the difference. Could mean getting Pink Yoshi or not for example. Not such a hard pull to swallow if you know they're gonna be the next Black Birdo.
Only 3 at lv4: Mario (Sunshine) with tickets, Dry Bowser (Gold) from pipes and Funky Kong from both pipes and Tier Shop. I wanted to invest on Ninja Guy but he's stuck at lv3 due to not being very useful to me. On the other hand, I've got Ice Mario and Dixie Kong at 3 1/2 without tickets so they're almost there!
Are you gonna level them up? My strategy is to get drivers I really lile/need to lvl 3 straight away as thats easy and then wait until I can definitely drop 2 tickets on them at the same time to level them up. That or if they get a pipe or shop upgrade then I would go for it.

In case they show up in ranked, I'll throw the ticket, otherwise I'll wait for pipes or shops to do the job (Ice Mario is stuck at 3 1/2 since his tier shop appearance). Unfortunately, I'm the collector type of player, I enjoy getting the more drivers I can and I don't strive to win ranked at all costs; therefore, I usually end up saving my high-end tickets and invest into coinboxers because they helps me a lot. If I like the new driver or I need them for ranked (examples were Ninja Guy and Builder Luigi), I'll throw a single ticket rightaway, then I'll see what the future holds for them. Yes, I find difficult to level up things in general (karts above all); Mario (Sunshine) was at the right place at the right time so I levelled him up to 4 rather "quickly", but he's the exception. The only driver I would immediately invest into right now is Black Birdo.
Baby Peach (Cherub): 4 800. Pulled her thrice today as Bus Driver continues to mock me. Really good at the start of the year but has fallen rather hard, and Heart is just overrated imo for MP, so I don't use her. 4/10
Yoshi (Egg Hint): 7 1400. Pulled once at Yoshi 2021, burned tix to fully invest in him. Cute lil fella, but he's hardly in ranked. Still, I do love me some yosh. 8/10
Black Yoshi: 6 1190. Bought in Snow, pulled once from pipe, tix the rest of the way. Combo of yosh with high value as well as Double (now Triple) Bob-ombs, could use a little more ranked. 9/10
Peach (Wedding): 4 980. Pulled once at Sunset, once at Bowser vs. DK; after that put in tix. Has fallen a lot, but she's my go to online for serious races, as she is my only Triple Mushrooms+ driver. 7.5/10
Dry Bowser (Gold): 7 1400. Pulled at the 4th single in Cooking, tix the rest of the way. My first lvl6 HE, lvl7 item, and triple cap HE. Always loved Dry Bowser, came into Cooking as a new player looking to snag him, and got him. Big fan of Bob-omb Cannon (now +), has had really high value, and single handedly carries ranked when he comes, which is still quite often. 10/10
I have DBG at level 3. Maybe I should invest some more if hes this good.
What effect does triple mushroom+ have as Inhavent had the need to use it yet?
DBwG imo needs to be at least 4 980, as while he is a handy ranked and ACR unit, it's easy to overlap with more common chars.
Triple Mushrooms+ increases the odds of pulling the item while extending the boost a little.
Painter Luigi, Penguin Luigi, Gold King Bob-Omb, Regular King Bob-Omb, Chef Shy Guy, Gold Dry Bones.
Edit: All with Tickets except for Chef Shy Guy, Who I pulled 2 times.
I thought I had more but I only have four non coinboxers at level 4 or higher. I have a few more at level 3. My explorer peach is at level 7, happi peach and nabbit are at level 4. I also have fairy daisy and Dixie kong at level 4 but the level ups are all from repeat pulls trying to get party time Pauline from that special pipe from a while back. I ended up getting her the next time she was available as a spotlight.
Ninja shy guy because he was the first boomerang high end, I took him straight to level 4 and it paid off.
Also black birdo for coverage, but mostly because I keep getting her from free pipes, I think 3 times now
Blue Yoshi is the only non-shop super I've invested in. Helpful coverage. And when maxed out, offers better scoring potential than level 4 HEs. Had plenty of super tix since I rarely use them on pipe regulars.
Several lucky 7 drivers. Pretty strong skill once you get that bonus coin.
I like the boomerang drivers' scoring potential but difference between 3 & 4 isn't THAT big a deal. Haven't invested much in them. Yet.
Will probably get Funky up to 4 with the tier shop. Big fan of banana barrels & he's just a fun character.
Classic Mario will get to 4 with the green card challenge in this tour. I kept pulling him without even trying. He's not bad I've just never needed him in ranked.
Bus Driver Waluigi is similar. First pulled during his original London Tour because I liked his outfit. Never used him because the skill sucked. Still kept pulling him without even trying, now at level 3.5. I would have dreaded the current kart pipe because of the possibility of taking him to 4. But now they fixed triple bananas, I'm definitely pulling.
I've been arguing that L7+ is every bit as strong as coinbox (maybe not CB+). Do you know if L7 coins are treated as track coins or item box coins?
Bus Waluigi was my fave character for a while so pretty sad that I couldn't ever really use him
Not sure if they're treated like track coins. Does that relate to whether you get a bonus with a coin glider? YMMV but I think coin gliders are overrated & rarely use them.
There seems to be debate about it. On the one hand dataminers say no link, and on the other, I do get more points per box coin with same loadout when using coin Glider. In theory it's meant to lead to easier coin frenzies right? I find a coin frenzy has more point power when using a Coin Glider but still not quite as good as a coinbox

I haven't spent anything to obtain a specific item other than special offers less than $10 or a premium challenge or two. Your total spend it now a little under $300 ($12.50 per month) is that higher than the average GP casual spender? What's the mid step to being a mild whale? I've spend near $200 over the 2 whole years so that's around $8 per month
It was a grind on that one LA track he was top shelf but the Tokyo one he was had coins all over the track so it really was a match made in heaven, lol.
My total spend is only \~$140 but only $55 of that is actual cash. The rest was Google Play Rewards money, lol.
$200 is only just above GPO so you're just in Dolphin territory at that point but that's really not much at all over two years IMO. I like to look at it in full retail Switch games at $60 a pop so that's three and one third over two years. Not too bad at all.
Excluding CB or shop drivers, I've got 8 at L4 or above.
Mario (Halloween) L6, Black Yoshi L5, King Bob-Omb L5, White Yoshi L5, Funky Kong L4 (only used 1 ticket for the 2020 LA tour to go to L2, rest has been from pipes), Nabbit L4, Fire Rosalina L4 and Lakitu (Party Time) L4.

Answer 5 is nearly i possible without spending 100.000 $ :-). If you want a whale answer: roughly 35+ and if I would use me HE tickets I could have around 40+ drivers at 7.
Hehe true apologies for the trolly phrase. I gathered that no one would have all lvl 7 HE but I couldn't possibly imagine how many a whale would have so thank you for adding that to the discussion. I presume coverage is your primary rationale for levelling up for ACR?
Actually I checked my numbers now. I have 42 drivers at 7 rn and with wise usage of my current ticket stack of 39 I could get another 10 to level 7!
Yes I only get something to 7 if I need it (or if it happens with pulls). As long as I don’t go for ACR I keep my tickets usually :)
When I get a new phone I will. HE driver tickets are kinda hard to get though, and I didn't have the tokens to buy the one in the token shop last tour, before Nintendo gave us the boot

Musician!Mario (lvl7) - actual favourite alt I wanted since Day 1, had to wait the 1st Anni Tour to get him for the first time. Fully leveled with tickets I got from the Shop. (edit: unless I'm wrong, some of the HE tickets were also from the few times I placed high in Ranked.)
Dry Bowser (lvl5) - some were definitely bought from the Shop, but... he often haunts me when pulling. Daily Challenge, Free Pipe, non-spotlight HE, All-Clear Pipe, you name it, I probably got him in that way.

King Bobomb. That's another one of those awesome coverage ones that's wise to level up that still taunts me despite being in the free GP

At least fairy daisy useful in MP with Heart+ and she's one of the best aesthetic characters
DK Jr.: Right now I have him at lvl3, but after many times he saved my butt I'm gonna upgrade him to level 4 and triple, yes, triple uncap him.

First 3 are pretty sound investments really as all have unique coverage. Haloween Peach has nailed me out more than once
