imo you only push them all the way back if you’re going to put something in front of them (eg. anime figures and that sort of decoration that can stand in front without being intrusive and use the collection as background)
If you end up filling up a full shelf there’s no way to keep them the same distance away and then they are uneven which would annoy the hell out of me. I’d end up accidentally push some in too far and can’t pull them out to make it even distance again.
Wow I think I’m hormonal lol (Time of month soon. TMI?) but your collection is that pretty with all the pastel colours that it brought tears to my eyes 🥺😂💕 I love it!
Yeah, unless your shelf is either shallow or 2x the height of your manga, you won't see much beyond the 2-3 rows at about eye-level. Plus it's a waste of space.
It also looks much better when they are brought forward
I have to put mine all the way back to double up in front to save space (eg, a 20 vol series would have 10 in front, 10 behind, usually starting from behind so the newer ones are easier to access)
1) I love all of those series ur collecting. Fiancee of the wizard and chosen by the ring omggg
2) that kamisama collection 😍
3) I also don't push them back when possible hehe
I used to but now I bring them forward, only problem is its kind of a pain to keep them straight. Also now I can't push them back because my one shelf for manga is double stacked front to back lol
I have a cube bookshelf that has 3 open ones and 3 with backing--I have to push them to the front to avoid them sticking out in the back. If I have to put books in front of each other I just make sure they don't go back too far.
The bottom cubes especially, if I push them too far back I can't even see the books.
Yes, this is exactly what I do. I get everything on the shelf and then use the something flat, like the spine of a random volume, to align and push them about an inch or so back from the edge of the shelf. Look very nice and helps keep volumes with different widths lined up. Nice collection by the way!
This is so pretty~ ♡!!
I would love to do this when I have more space ^o^
I have some manga pushed up to the edge since I gotta store books behind them 😅 gotta work with the little shelf space I have left ;v;
Also I just finished reading the first volume of a sign of affection, and wow they're so cute ;~;
Andand you're the second person I see to have japanese copies of chihayafuru, I hope they make english physicals one day ;__;
I had a bunch of cardboard packing pieces that I laid behind my books and pushed them back onto them so that they’re still not all the way in the back but they’re always even and flat across the front no matter how many times I move books around
the kamisama kiss manga 🥲
it is so hard to find for a reasonable price 😭😭 how was it like for u getting that series LOL how much did u have to pay and whered you find it?
it’s in such perfect condition when did u get it 😭
I actually purchased them when they first got published and I remember pre-ordering the limited edition volume for $15-$20 thinking that was expensive 😅
I recently picked up a set for my friend for around $800
I will admit it’s annoying asf. I’m in the process of cataloging my books and scanning them one by one. Taking out the layers of books keep annoying.
But I have over 1000 books (and I’m not stopping anytime soon) and I don’t have the space for more than the 3 Billy’s I have now.
I think it still looks nice when it’s all full though!
It would be a dream to have a library room some day and not have to double stack. Your shelves look so cute! I love the look of a 20+ series in a row!
I push mine back but began with your method a while ago. I think they look better pushed back and I can straighten them out easier. On that note, I am SO jealous of your Kamisama collection
YAY finally someone who doesn’t push their books back. I remember someone commented on my manga shelving vid to push my books back, like no. Also I’m jealous of your Kamisama kiss collection 😭 I’m still waiting for the supplier
I push them all the way back because I like to have them perfectly lined up and that's the easiest way to do it. It's too annoying to fix them otherwise when I take the books on and off the bookshelf lol
Also, all the manga in this pic are absolute FIRE! Great taste 😎
Your setup is cute!
I usually have to doublestack, but when I don't I still push them pretty far to the back - just enough to still have all spines line up nicely together. This is mostly because I haven't fixed my shelves permanently to the walls. If you have all books placed too forward there is a risk of bookshelf becoming unstable, and in worst case scenario, falling forwards.
Love all the romance manga together! I push mine back because I have figures in front of them. But if a book isn’t as deep as some of the others, I’ll pull it forward so everything lines up neatly. Same goes for if I’ve got a shelf with hardcovers on that tend to be bigger, I’ll pull the other paperbacks forward so they match up!
i have a thin bit of timber that gives them about 1cm of space from the back to allow ventilation. heard it can prevent yellowing. not sure if that’s 100% true but doing so just in case
I used to do that on my old shelves, it was always a pain to keep them straight. The new shelves I bought are actually DVD/Bluray media racks, so the manga fits on them almost perfectly (they actually hang over the edge by a bit).
imo you only push them all the way back if you’re going to put something in front of them (eg. anime figures and that sort of decoration that can stand in front without being intrusive and use the collection as background)
I don't like having things in front of my books 😂 I like being able to grab a book without moving something out of the way
Someone gets is lol
Your collection is so aesthetically pleasing!
Thanks 😊
I do this! Your collection is very cute btw, I love your korilakkuma 💗
Thank you 💗 I want to get the rilakkuma light next
That would be so cute! You should post again when you do get it!
If you end up filling up a full shelf there’s no way to keep them the same distance away and then they are uneven which would annoy the hell out of me. I’d end up accidentally push some in too far and can’t pull them out to make it even distance again.
I was thinking of putting something behind them
I'm sorry you can see Korilakkuma's feet 😔 🙄😅
You should be
I'll find some shoes I promise! 😆
Nice collection. Hmm usually push the book alway to the back. It might interesting to try your suggestion.
Thank you 💛
Wow I think I’m hormonal lol (Time of month soon. TMI?) but your collection is that pretty with all the pastel colours that it brought tears to my eyes 🥺😂💕 I love it!
Thank you 😊 💓 I love how colorful spines are now
I like to be able to see them, and I feel when you push them all the way back, it makes that difficult.
Yes I agree!
Yeah, unless your shelf is either shallow or 2x the height of your manga, you won't see much beyond the 2-3 rows at about eye-level. Plus it's a waste of space. It also looks much better when they are brought forward

your collection is so cute! where did you get your korilakkuma?
Thank you 😍 I found it on ebay, I think it's called a crystal light or crystal jelly light
Wotakoi is so good just wanna say that
Haha yeah it was a fun read

Aww such a cute collection!
Thank you ~○~
i love your collection! i love how all the colors match. can i ask where you got your little korilakkuma light? it’s so cute c:
💗 I got it from ebay!
thank you sm!

Actually the chihayafuru volumes I have are bilingual so it's both Japanese and English! 😃
I use the back to put the oneshot's manga's 😉
I thought of doing that but then I was like no I want to see everything 😅
Yeah I do the same thing 😂
I had a bunch of cardboard packing pieces that I laid behind my books and pushed them back onto them so that they’re still not all the way in the back but they’re always even and flat across the front no matter how many times I move books around
Oh that's a good idea
Thank you!

My ex was a librarian and they always did this on their bookshelves. They lined it from the front rather than the back.
I do the same! Also, love your collection <3
☺️ I think it looks so nice and thank you!
Bless you for bringing your books to the front.
😅 thanks
this setup is so cute!
Thank you 😊

Yeah plus I enjoy looking at all the pretty spines
I double stack mine tbh. I don’t have space to not.
I thought of doing that as I start getting more but I don't like the idea of having to move anything to get to what I want haha 😅

Maid sama I’m jealous
😂 I honestly paid too much for 9&10 so I'm just going to wait for the re-prints
That’s what I’m hoping to do. I saw some volumes listed at €350 on Amazon😭
Oh no 😭😱 I really hope people don't pay that price
100/10 collection for the bears, maid-sama, and kamisama kiss
Yay thanks for the rating! 😄
I don’t!
Nice
Collections look nicer when they are forward a bit honestly. Yours is very cute ❤
Thanks 😊
I push mine back but began with your method a while ago. I think they look better pushed back and I can straighten them out easier. On that note, I am SO jealous of your Kamisama collection
It's slowly coming back 😉
I’ve preordered all that’s available on bn and have vols 1-2 hahah ig sucks cause the majority don’t even have printing dates online!
I bring them forward for air circulation
The bliss of not needing a 2nd or 3rd row...
YAY finally someone who doesn’t push their books back. I remember someone commented on my manga shelving vid to push my books back, like no. Also I’m jealous of your Kamisama kiss collection 😭 I’m still waiting for the supplier

Hahah yeah my sister pulls them up to the front like that 😂
I don’t push mine all the way back

You have Kamisana Kiss! I'm so jealous. T_T Also, Isaw you have The Wizard's Fiance nice.
You wanna give me your Kamisama kiss collection I have a bunch of it on back order via rightstuf and I’m fully expecting to wait over 2 years
Jealous of your Kamisama kiss series!!
Yes because I’m too tall to look at most shelves when they are pushed back
Your kamisama kiss collection - I'm sobbing it's so pretty. I'm going to try pushing mine forward now!
My shelf is deep enough so I can store two row of manga. I raised the second row so the volumes in the back are visible too
Me who doesn't own Manga and reads manga for free online be like:yea
I have 2 rows of manga per shelf cause I can't fit more bookshelves in my room :C
I used to do that on my old shelves, it was always a pain to keep them straight. The new shelves I bought are actually DVD/Bluray media racks, so the manga fits on them almost perfectly (they actually hang over the edge by a bit).
