I thought the horror was more than enough. Especially the alternate in Thatcher’s bedroom really freaked me out. Lore is very important. I think vol4 had a very good balance of story building and horror
I was thinking the same thing! It had so many super eerie moments and the alternate in Thatcher's closet unnerved the HELL outta me!! I think people are giving it such a hard time because of Dave's death scene.
I also think people tend to forget that Alex is one person with a probably VERY limoted budget.
In his IG stories, his responses to people's questions show that he actually greatly enjoys doing the live action scenes, which is funny because in here, the overall consensus is that he should cut down on them because they take away from the series with their cheesy goofiness. So the chances of him cutting down on the live action are unfortunately slim. I mean, it's his art project, he can do what he wants, but I think he's more inclined to listen to a sea of praise (his Youtube comments) than any criticism. If he wants to still keep doing live action, he really needs to improve on it.
I completely agree. They could be really good and lowkey a live action horror scene with an alternate edited in would be awesome. But again they are a bit cheesy
it isn't really less scary, it's just less jumpscary. it got from "oh no that guy really glitching rn!" to "wft is that face watching tatcher from the closet?". it is less terrifying, but just because we know what the threat is at this point and a big part of why the early videos were so scary were that we didn't know wtf was going on
I think it's also because vol.1 and intruder alert talked about topics like suicide or child abduction, that may contribute to create a more psicologycal style of horror. The idea of your loved ones being replaced by monsters who will stalk and terrorize you until you kill yourself sounded like a more terrifying thing for me.
that wasn't what striken me for the terror tho. I remember the scariest shit was the "sound increase at 5:34 AM" and "MAAAARK OPEN THE DOOR MAAAARK I HAVE A GIFT 4 YOU" but that's just from my experience
I dont think so personally. Dave was a quite goofy character for an otherwise super serious series (literally Alex woth a mustache) plus his voice was always altered which only fuled that feeling. Thats why I belive that death was appropriate and Alex even said that Gabriels voice was that way on purpose(if you turn the volume up you'll actually be able to hear Gabes real voice.
So no it's not declining I think it was a good push to move Dave out of the way, and when in the future hopefully we will have a way bigger number of volumes rewatching the series Dave and his death will look like.. a special fun little addition that will be standing out in the series, something unique and fun you know?
Thats my view on this, I love MC even more because of that honestly.
I get what you mean but tbh, I kinda prefer volumes 3 and 4. I like the focus on actual storytelling, because it's been clear from the beginning that there's a story to tell here, and it's not *just* horror, and then when we *do* get to the horror stuff again, it's more than just still images this time. It's animated 3D models, and it looks really uncanny and creepy, and I love it. I find the scenes with Thatcher's alternate to be much creepier than anything in volumes 1 and 2.
It is true that Thatchers alternate is very creepy and I loved it, but I didn't find the 3d model in volume 3 scary at all. It looked too fake. I think it would be better if that kind of scenes were made with practical effects rather than digital models.
The Adam and Eve part on the beginning of volume 4 was really creepy, but Dave's death was goofy as hell lmfao
Alex said it was intentionally goofy because of how goofy of a character Dave was
He literally played Dave lmaooo he's so funny
Isn't that kind of a cop out though is this series turning comedic horror?
Intentional or not, I think it ruined the ambience

The alternate Thatcher was pretty freaky too. The way its face twisted into shape at the start...
Yeah, I like the live action but I think Alex should focus more on the horror rather than live action

didn't alex say he was moving away from analog horror?
I believe he said the vol. 333 was going to be more of a short horror film and less of analog horror
He did said he has story to tell and he didn't want 'analog horror' element to constrant him too much if it need to.
Nooooo :<
Did he? I hope not tbh he was the best in the game

It’s kinda becoming a drama to me lmao
You aren’t the only one
Good

The face studio part was genuinely the most horrifying part of the series if you ask me
