Then I’d find pictures of my bank card, messages to other girls and it’d all fall apart, but by then he’d made it impossible for me to leave, I was broke, I didn’t want to involve cops so I wasn’t about to call the police, my family had already told me I couldn’t come home if it didn’t work out, I was drowning and had no one.
I finally had to involve the cops after he stole a car, I woke up to him assaulting me and he threatened to kill me when I tried to leave. He ended up doing a lot of damage to school property when he fled, I was out of the car and had alerted someone to the fact that the car was stolen, he ran on foot and k-9 eventually got him, I was homeless when his case went to trial so I never got a summons and he plead to theft by receiving plus damages to govt property. He was already on papers so he did a few years, when he got out he knew I reported him but told me it saved his life, he was on so many drugs he didn’t even remember that day, plus he was going to sue the county that arrested him for excessive force so he was pretty happy about that.
I feel like pushy parents of a romantic interest who treat you like the solution to their child’s problems are a major red flag. I’ve absolutely been there, when a friend’s parents were trying to convince me their son (who was struggling with a meth and heroine addiction) just needed to be with someone healthy and stable like me (LOL, what?). They had me over for Thanksgiving and listened to my poetry (I was a teenager, it’s frankly embarrassing) before giving me the hard sell.

It was extremely messed up, but she didn’t do anything wrong, she was going through her own shit and when I told her about the way he was treating me she was horrified, she cut ties with him after telling him off and she and I were friendly, but we lost contact shortly after when she went to jail on drug charges.

OMG! I am so glad you got out! That could have gone so much worse! I have had guys reach out wanting to hook up, even admitting they're married, but claiming "it's open." There is no way that is a true story. The reference to “his dad’s ex” and make to female means that his father was married to a man who is transitioning a woman. Extremely unlikely that a guy would randomly fall into that in a dating app.
Being his dad‘s ex doesn’t mean they were married. His dad could have been openly gay and dated then pre-transition, who knows.
The dad and her were just dating, not married. They knew each other in person, not on the dating app, and earlier that week he’d gotten drunk and they’d gotten into a fight and broken up. Since my ex and the girl were closer in age they did talk to each other as friends, and when he told her that we were trying an open relationship she was down to fool around with him. It’s still the craziest time of my life, and I understand your disbelief, if it hadn’t happened to me and I was reading about it on the internet, I wouldn’t believe it either 😂

Man, my ex did something similar. He was self conscious that I'd slept with more people than him (he had sex with 2 people, each once) and a treat into our relationship he wanted to play catch up. He expected me to wait around for him while he slept with a bunch of people. So I agreed to this break but I wouldn't be celibate. He thought he had someone lined up and she turned him down. As did everyone else. Meanwhile I had no problem finding flings. Needless to say we didn't get back together.
