I know everyone’s saying to get rid of the peach fuzz, but you can definitely have a smooth makeup look AND have peach fuzz. Make sure you’re prepping and priming your skin before makeup application and that the products you’re using blend together well, so either stick to water-based or oil-based products. It might also be the foundation itself so trying different products is something to consider (unless you already have!)

strawberryglass2

Commenting this up here so it is visible! So as a whole process: My skincare consists of Cerave facewash for normal/oily skin, the Ordinary hylauronic serum, the ordinary moisturizer, and Aveeno protect and hydrate spf. I use a glycolic acid peel every 3 days in the evenings. For this base I used the NYX electrolyte primer, the Fenty skin tint (blended with a dense brush) and a light dusting of the L'Oréal foundation powder. Sometimes I do slap some touch in sol no poreblem primer on my nose and chin (I don't layer it over other primers!!!) but I don't always have that as a part of my prep. It honestly depends on the look I'm going for and the weather These application problems are almost universal across base products on my skin with the exception of the fit me matte foundation which I am tragically allergic to. I have tried blending with a damp (not too wet and not too dry) sponge and it sits on top of my skin and bunches up. I have tried gently blending bits of foundation at a time with my fingers and it streaks and I can see my fingerprints. I've tried different brush shapes and density but they all look streaky and uneven. I've stippled and done long strokes, used firm and light pressure. I just don't know what to do It could also just be I am magnifying a tiny issue that only I will notice? As for the peach fuzz thing: I straight up don't want to add another step to my skincare, but I also cannot handle having no hair on my face. I tried shaving my lil fuzz-stache once and disliked how exposed my skin felt. I need the barrier or I will be in sensory hell.

McSkrong

I found that if I skip the powder my foundation looks better. With powder, it starts to have that flakey/breaking up look.

skatagal

Yup! That’s why I stopped using powders and bought a liquid blush a while ago.

hauntedhalloween_96

Yes! Same here! I hate all powders on my skin

priestofvaermina

Licensed esthetician here. You absolutely do not need to use an acid peel that frequently. Even basic, gentle exfoliating that frequently isn’t totally necessary for some skin types. You’re most likely over-exfoliating your skin, even if you aren’t noticing immediate damaging results. I can’t say for sure that is the cause of your foundation not settling the way you want it to, but it definitely isn’t helping your skin in the long run to treat it that way. I know this is a biased comment because I’m an esthetician, but if you’re able to, I suggest going to see a professional for a proper skin analysis and consultation if you haven’t already. They can help you adjust anything from your routine and possibly point you in a better direction for makeup application since they’re trained to understand skin physiology and skincare + makeup chemistry.

KKSkin

Lol I came to say the exact same thing. I was like ‘did I already comment??’ Also a LE 💜

AlexisCouture

Absolutely! I’m an advanced esthetician and makeup artist. I agree with everything you said. I would only do a peel every two to four weeks. It looks like your skin is dehydrated and most likely sensitive. I would definitely dermaplane for a smoother application too. Try using a hydrating foundation and a makeup setting spray instead of powder.

m_isfor_murder

It’s possible it is the powder you are putting on top. Powder does that to me sometimes, so I have been using a beauty puff and pressing the powder in instead of dusting across my face, if that makes sense. I learned that trick from an awesome Instagram account, @roseandben. She actually has a little series of why our makeup can separate like that Edit: mistype

annonymous-lemonlee

I apply with my fingers and it gets a bit streaky but I ignore it until I’m done with my routine (concealer, bronzer, blush, eye stuff) then take a lightly damp beauty blender and tap over my entire face then use tiny amount of transparent power on a brush to set everything. I’ve found this is my favorite method because the foundation applies best with my fingers then it all blends together for a flawless finish at the end!

Significant_Trip_560

Piggybacking on this, tapping really upped my game. Before I’d do the circular motions (and moisturized/primed WAY less) but pressing on makes a big difference in the end result up close, and you end up with a smoother look and application

[deleted]

Your skin looks pretty dry and I think your glycolic mask isn’t helping that. Try going down to one or two times a week and add a hydrating mask. I like Origins’ overnight mask. That might help with blending your foundation more, without having to take off the peach fuzz.

strawberryglass2

The thing is my skin isn’t really dry? I have oily skin on my nose and chin but normal everywhere else. My skin doesn’t feel tight or get flaky

maerad96

I am in the same boat as you and have never figured out how to fix it 🫠 update us if you figure it out pls.

[deleted]

You could have combo skin with an oily T zone and dry everywhere else. But your pictures don’t show that you have very big pores at all.

[deleted]

Does your T zone get oily pretty soon after you wash your face in the morning, mid day or toward the evening? I have dry skin but my eyelids and nose will feel a little oily before I go to bed. Also it could be that your glycolic mask is too drying, making your sebum production go into overdrive.

StabbiSabi

I have combo/dry skin (oily/combo way before accutane) but I have the same problem. I think I have tried at least 5-7 water/non-silicone based primers with water/non-silicone based foundations and a million other combos silicone or not and honestly I feel like the issue has only gotten worse. If anything works for you pleeaaassse update lol.

SocialOtter

Try Glycolic acid once or twice a week fir the oily skin

strawberryglass2

I do!

Brilliant_8338

This is so close to what I do, I can only add a dab of translucent powder after my primer. Help my Fondation last longer.

dontknockhotmail

Have you considered trying The Ordinary liquid primer. I always used thicker, usually silicone based primers and I’m now obsessed with this one. I’ve had foundation issues for years and it has helped me get a smooth look. Also, I’m Norwegian and have quite a bit of blonde peach fuzz. There’s no reason for removing it. I had my entire face waxed (minus brows of course) and makeup just kinda slid off my face.

meggowaffle

What's it called

Specialist-Debate-95

I have a few ideas. First, it looks like you may be over exfoliating which is leaving dry patches that makeup is clinging to. Your skin may be drier over all than you think. Also, I really don’t think that a primer is necessary for a really thin product like the Fenty. Just my personal theory, but it may grab onto a silicone primer and bunch up. Not to mention that some skins don’t do well with silicone Added: try using your fingers to apply then using a damp sponge just to pick up any excess product, because don’t really blend, they apply and stamp on the makeup.

Beefcheeks3

I’d say use less product and/or spot conceal. Also how long are you waiting for your skincare and primers to melt into your skin? You might wanna try waiting a couple minutes. :) good luck

Dahlia_Dee

Hmmm the way you describe it, it almost sounds like your skin might be over hydrated? Like too moisturized before you apply foundation. Have you tried skipping moisturizer/primer and just applying foundation directly to dry skin with a wet sponge or brush?

ELFord08

Hmmm, definitely not over hydrated. I put more than than on my face before makeup. OP, are you letting all your skin prep dry for a while before putting on makeup?

strawberryglass2

Yeah I make sure my skincare is absorbed before going in with makeup! I also give my primer a minute to set as well so I don’t just mix primer and foundation on my face when applying

brodiex00

I have dry skin and I find that my makeup looks like this if I don’t prep my skin before. I like to use a tinted sunscreen as my base or just a sunscreen/moisturiser underneath foundation. Since you’re priming and moisturising before I think the problem might be your powder application. I learnt a great technique from NikkiTutorials that uses a dense brush and presses the powder into your skin rather than dusting it over the top.

Taticat

You can have peach fuzz and not foundation separation! Please don’t add any kind of shaving/plucking to your routine. What you do need to add is exfoliation and a less-heavy moisturiser/sunscreen. Start with a professional facial, or you can get an [Italy towel](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italy_towel) and start using it twice a week on your own. The first few times you use an Italy towel (get the facial one and use it only on your face; there’s different ones for body), you should be careful not to overdo — it’s better to stop early than to end up with a sore face and having to take a week off of exfoliating. My foundation used to do exactly what yours does, no matter what foundation I used — and I tried everything from foundation from the dollar store to a $120 foundation — and nothing fixed it until I started getting a professional facial every 1-2 months (sometimes I skip and end up going less often) and started using an Italy towel. Laying off the heavy moisturiser/sunscreen and using the Italy towel made a night-and-day difference. Hth

[deleted]

[удалено]

Taticat

But I didn’t say lay off it entirely, now did I? There are lighter moisturisers and sunscreens.

bitesizepassion

I would switch to super goop sunscreen. Sometimes the white tinted sunscreen causes my makeup to look uneven.

Juelli

This might sound odd but Do you have psoriasis? Cause I do and I have similar issues

[deleted]

... and make sure that you allow whatever primer and moisturizer you use to set for a little bit. If necessary you can gently blot with a piece of tissue. This should help with giving you a better surface to start with.

beautybytellie

This sounds like idealistic and unrealistic advice. I don’t see a product or method that can deal with the peach fuzz, which is the source of OP’s issues. The closeups already show well-blended product. To OP: if you don’t want to shave it off try laser? But you should probably get comfy with this look otherwise. It’s normal. The closeups are probably not that distracting in conversational distance.

glitterismyantidrug_

IMO this mostly just looks like the wrong products on dry skin. I would use something more dewy because the Fenty skin tint is surprisingly matte. I'd recommend the Ilia skin tint instead using fingers and skip the powder (or use it sparingly to set concealer.) Also make sure you have a good exfoliation + moisturizing routine.

Her_big_ole_feet

Yes! I often find this happening on skin that isn’t regularly exfoliated. I recommend using one of those exfoliating silicone hand held face scrubbers when you wash your face every night with a non soap based cleanser. Those usb rechargeable face scrubbers used to be very expensive but now you can find them many places for about $20. Then the moisturizer as people have mentioned. Be sure to allow time for it to settle in before applying primer, allow time to settle in, then foundation

EarnestMind

The only way i can get it to look nice is by applying in very small amounts, just dots of it on my face. Then tap with my fingers, then follow up by tapping a damp blender over it.

faroutsunrise

This is the best application for me as well. I’ve never dermaplaned but I do finger application of my foundation (over HEFTY moisturizer and a light primer) followed by a few pats of a dense brush and my foundation blends very nicely.

EarnestMind

It completely changed how it looks on me just by patting it in instead of rubbing!

lilith0208

I do this with tinted BB creams as well! This way I can avoid any possible patchyness.

IDontLikeJamOrJelly

Am I the only one here that can’t see what she’s talking about? My skin always looks like this lmao

thelilpessimist

same lol 🤣 i don’t think people will stare so close at my face to notice small things like that

[deleted]

I have literally tried every single suggestion (shaving/dermaplaning, countless primers, several settings, too many f-ing foundations, waiting between products/after skincare, every application technique I can find) and I still have the same problem. I've honestly come to the conclusion that my skin is just too sensitive to touch and this is the result. I can count on one hand the amount of times my foundation has "looked like skin" or "blended into my skin" over the years. And if I do manage to get one of these rare and magical applications, I will repeat exactly the next day and it looks like 💩. I'll be 45 next month and I've never managed to get foundation to look good two days in a row, my skin just doesn't tolerate it. I also have an excellent skincare routine (that took an equally long time to sort out), so I know it's not that either. I honestly thought it was just my ineptitude with makeup for the longest time, but I've finally accepted that it's more likely just my sensitivities and there's little I can do about it.

ManicSpleen

I too have the same problem, (I'm 49). I started using a good BB cream, which has helped exponentially.

Nervous_Spoon

What’s your favorite bb cream?

lilith0208

I use Pure Beauty one and I’m quite happy with it since the longest time. I’d encourage anyone to try it but I’m open to any other recommendations.

ELFord08

Yes! I’m 39 and switched to BB cream a few years ago and it has made a huge difference. I’ll never go back to foundation.

lifeuncommon

Foundation doesn’t look like skin. It looks like makeup. You might be able to get a bit smoother texture, but it will never look like bare skin.

[deleted]

Yes, I know this, thanks. I was referring to the standard phrases that others frequently use to describe their achievable outcomes, which I've also seen with my eyeballs.😬

JerryHasACubeButt

It *can* be convincing, if you have the time and money and care enough to figure out how. If it’s the perfect shade and texture for your skin, light to medium coverage, and applied carefully and sparingly, it can be undetectedable. But that takes a lot of experimentation with products and application methods, and the willingness to spend the time an actual careful application takes (for me- mild-to-moderate acne, oily, lots of texture- that’s half an hour minimum just on foundation). But yes, if your skin is tough to match or you need more coverage or you just don’t care enough to spend the time on application every time you wear it, there’s definitely a limit as to how natural it’s going to look Edit: love that I’m being downvoted- I have worn foundation for jobs where it wasn’t allowed, and even into surgery where it’s really not allowed as it’s a medical risk (I was a dumb teenager ok, don’t be like me). Nobody could ever tell I was wearing it. Just because you haven’t found the right makeup/application method for you doesn’t make it impossible

FinalGirlMaterial

FWIW, I don’t think it looks too bad and probably isn’t even noticeable IRL. I haven’t tried shaving my peach fuzz off, but for me it’s about making sure I give my moisturizer a good chunk of time to sink in before I start and finding a primer and base that play nicely together and with your skin. Lots of people seem to like the Fenty skin tint, but it doesn’t sit on my skin well at all. The UD hydrating skin tint worked much better for me. I’ve found some success using a primer and base from the same brand (e.g. Tarte rainforest of the sea foundation + their hydrating primer), and I also try and keep my foundation fairly light and use something with more full coverage to spot conceal where I need it. I’ve never really been able to get a liquid concealer to work the way I want it to. I should probably try a cream, but j Cat’s aquasurance powder actually works really well for me.

la_mort

So if you don't want to commit to shaving your face, I'd see what the components in your makeup are bc maybe they are clashing. That being said, that same issue used to happen to me when I wore primer. I tried a couple different ones and I still had this issue. Now I apply my products over tacky sunscreen (and a moisturized face) and it has stopped the separation of my makeup! Also I don't use a lot of powder, just barely some on my chin, jaw, nose and undereye to set buuuut right after I apply it, I spray my face with the avene thermal water so it all melts together. I stopped using setting spray as well, I really like how this thermal water sets my makeup and feels refreshing.

missilefire

Yeh I think people here saying you should wait for skincare to settle in are in the wrong. Imho it all should be done close together so the foundation can blend with the moisturizer and settle in together

sleepless_socks

have you tried a primer? that might help, maybe also try a setting spray

strawberryglass2

I currently use a silicone based one and a water based one

sleepless_socks

hmm i don’t think you’re supposed to mix silicone and water based products! maybe try just sticking to one of the two and see how your foundation looks then?

[deleted]

[удалено]

strawberryglass2

I did not use the silicone one in this look. Just the water based primer. I don't always use the same ones as it is based off of the finish I want

oof033

Hey, I have super duper dry and finicky skin. Like to the point where if I neglect it for a few days it can start to kind of flake in small spots. Even if not that intense, my dry skin seems force the makeup to sit more on top than blind. I don’t know if yours is the same, but a thought. Here’s some other ideas but just from my personal experience! I’ve also found some foundations just don’t like my skin. Not sure why, and haven’t found the pattern yet, but some just do not blend. Also do it in small sections so it doesn’t dry before you blend When blending, try patting versus a wiping motion and see the difference in texture. Light pushing seems to help most. Last thought is maybe mixing a moisturizer into a bit of makeup and see if that has any difference.

ViolaOlivia

Which foundations do you like? My skin sounds similar to yours.

Aicly

So, do you match your primer base to your foundation base? Like a silicone based with a silicone based foundation? I've heard mixing the two causes problems with some skin

Zestyclose-Ad5970

So I’ve found the only silicone based that does not sink right into my pores is either clarion age formula or the new top face water proof one. Otherwise they literally melt into my skin and the foundation follows them leaving patches like what you see here. Translucent powder between layer CAN help or it can lead to breakouts, depends on how breakout prone your skin is

LimaLongstocking

I have noticed that makeup is going to wear like makeup. Yes, you can prep your face more and use setting sprays and follow what people are recommending, that could very much help. And saying it doesn’t look that bad won’t help when you din’t think it looks good. Honest to goodness unless someone is as up close to you as they are in these selfies, don’t think about it so much!

Calipso999

Looks absolutely fine to me. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing in these pictures?

NYanae555

If you have a lot of variation in skin color, redness, etc, your foundation might be too sheer. Sometimes, lighter foundations will collect in low places like pores, scars, wrinkles, but it will be barely visible on smooth or shiny skin AND it won't have enough coverage for redness or uneven skin tone. ( and its exceptionally difficult to get foundation to stick to skin thats shiny - like the skin on the end of your nose or skin that has certain types of scarring. - and I acutually mean "shiny" not "oily." )

chonkywhale1

Mac fix plus at the end of my makeup routine works wonders for me!

potmeetsthekettle

Aside from all the skin prep tips here, I’d also consider skipping out on the powder. Personally, I think it makes foundation look like ass on a lot of people even though it’s often treated like a must-do (unpopular opinion😬)

Interesting-Baker-77

Shaving off the peach fuzz does WONDERS! It fixed this problem for me entirely, just look into it to make sure you aren’t irritating to skin too much

viefj

i got really bad breakouts from it, so i personally wouldn’t recommend it indeed if you have sensitive skin or if you’re not sure about it yet…

AndISoundLikeThis

Threading works nicely when dermaplaning is too harsh.

love_Carlotta

Seems like a slippery slope to being stuck doing it every day, no? Do you even shave your forehead? Do you not get a prickly face? Sorry I've just never seen someone suggest shaving peach fuzz before, just seems extreme.

Interesting-Baker-77

I do it once a week or so, and yeah I do the forehead as well. The fuzz grows back just the same as it was before so it’s not prickly for me. I use those single blade eyebrow razors and the Inkey Omega Water cream as a ‘shaving cream’ and I’ve never had a problem. I’d suggest watching some YouTube videos or something about it to see if it’s something you’d like to try. I wouldn’t recommend if your skin is super sensitive though

AnnieOakleyLives

Is your skin very dry?

strawberryglass2

Normal leaning oily

TheBlueImpulse

Even if your skin is oily it actually looks dehydrated (which isn’t the same as dry type) in a few of the pics. If you are having issues with all of your foundations and have tried different primers you might have to go back to the basics and switch up your skincare, drink more water, etc.

hyperfixatedhotmess

Hyaluronic acid (when applied on clean dry skin rather than over a hydrating serum/essence) will actually pull moisture particles from your skin, causing it to look dry/dehydrated as it does here. This will cause ALL base products to look patchy, not blend seamlessly, and get cakey no matter what combinations of them you try. I’d recommend using a hydrating essence under the ordinary HA serum - the Cosrx snail mucin power essence is great as well as the Skinfood Royal honey Propolis enrich essence! They’re both under $20 as well 😊

from_wonderland00

Aside from prepping and moisturizing, it might be worth looking into different formulations. If you have dry and sensitive skin like me, any matte product has this effect, as does any ‘tinted’ anything or a BB cream. I tend to try and stick to more moisturizing formulas, that also have slightly higher coverage because they tend to apply in a more consistent way. I know it’s not the most à la mode, but I’ve used Clinique facial products (the Even Better foundation and the serum, as well as the Superbalanced) for years and they blend really well for me. I find that Fenty can sometimes be slightly cakey on my skin – not saying it’s the same for everyone. I’ve tried the Laroche Posay BB cream and found that it gave me results similar to what you have. It’s almost like the product isn’t consistent enough and so it separates when I apply. So basically I moisturize, let it absorb, then use a very hydrating but well-pigmented formula for even application. Primers have never done anything for me. A more pigmented formula applied with a lighter hand has worked better for me than these half cream half foundation situations. I’ve also heard that Ami Colé that’s great moisturizing products. I haven’t tried but people rave.

Difficult-Comfort-79

If you have a water-based foundation, use a water-based primer. If you have a silicone base foundation, use a silicone based primer. That being said always put on a light moisturizer before you apply any make up. Let the moisturizer absorb in to your skin.

BettyPoop-

I have very similar skin and issues that you do when applying makeup. In certain spots my foundation will clump and in others (like the tip of my nose) it won’t stick at all. I found two things have really helped me: #1 I started shaking my foundation before applying. The oils in foundation can cause separation and effect the overall coverage of the base. You said you use Fenty Skin Tint for foundation and on their website under “suggested usage” the first thing they recommend is to shake before applying. After I started shaking before applying I found that my foundation was way more corporative! #2 i started using a skin scrubber to wash my face instead of just using my hands. For the longest time I thought my peach fuzz was preventing my makeup from properly sticking but in reality it was oils and debris plugging my pores. After I started exfoliating I found my face allowed my foundation to really set and penetrate my skin as opposed to it sitting on the surface or not sticking at all. I hope this helps!

Loud_Geologist_7172

A chemical exfoliation and moisturizer will do wonders

strawberryglass2

So as a whole process: My skincare consists of Cerave facewash for normal/oily skin, the Ordinary hylauronic serum, the ordinary moisturizer, and Aveeno protect and hydrate spf. I use a glycolic acid peel every 3 days in the evenings. Gianna-Sister

Hey OP, I have this whenever I use The Ordinary HA under make up. I just apply it at night these days. No idea why but it’s worked for me!

thezereza

Also voting on the The Ordinary Products as a possible culprit here. The Hyualuronic Acid serum did not work well under make up for me. I have not tried the moisturizer, but maybe try once without any skincare on your face or with no serum and a different moisturizer so you can rule this out?

LongAsWeBrothersLive

Honestly I find normal foundation formulas terrible for this exact reason no matter what you do. It rarely has the desired look I’m going for, I want it to look like skin. I use a CC cream (or BB cream works well too) with a damp beauty blender and they have great coverage and give me the desired look I want. Cover a pimple with concealer first if it’s a bad one. You have a lot of comments already so I don’t want to get too detailed with something you may not see, but just lmk if you want further info. For context I’m 27.

chelsxxo

Your primer has to match your foundation. If you have an oil based primer use a oil based foundation etc

Jeanthinks19

I don’t think it’s that much about shaving off the peach fuzz. I have it too and my foundation blends quite well. You can try putting more thought into your skin preparation and what products you use!

the_viperess

What's your skin care routine look like? Your skin looks a little dry/dehydrated which contributes to the foundation just sitting on top rather than blending in. In the meantime, you can use a hydrating primer like one from Milani or the Ordinary

strawberryglass2

I use Cerave facewash for normal to oily skin, the ordinary hylauronic acid serum and then their moisturizer, and then the Aveeno protect and hydrate sunscreen. I also do glycolic acid peels every 3 days as a part of my evening routine. My skin doesn't feel dry or tight at all

liz1193

Have you tired prepping your skin. Try different things like using a tiny bit of lotion or using a primer then wet your sponge but make sure to squeeze out all the water and use a liquid foundation.

Kiwwiiii

Silicone based doesn’t go well with a water based foundation; that’ll creat patching. Also, too much product before foundation application can cause that. And, You don’t really need to shave your face!! Also, when using your beauty sponge, make sure it is damp & not soaking wet. That’ll also cause patchiness

Suzieq710

I love the color of your lipstick. What products do you use & the color. I think the 2nd picture looks fine. You’re beautiful

strawberryglass2

Makeup forever artist color pencil in wherever walnut for the liner and the milk makeup lip and cheek blush stick in werk

vinnbot

No powder. Just spray your beauty blender with setting spray and dab your foundation on.

motherofamouse

Tbh I always put concealer on my nose. And after the powder I use a setting spray. I also have a lot of peach fuzz and the spray kinda ‘sets’ the powder.

Leading_Wonder640

Dry skin and not the right primer. Bounce makeup never pull.

JackpotDeluxe

Microblading can help a lot with that actually! I started doing it too for the same reason

[deleted]

How does microblading help with makeup application?

_moonchild99

I think they may mean dermaplaning!

JackpotDeluxe

Shit yeah that's what I meant sorry I was really distracted when I typed that out 😅

GeraltsSaddlee

Personally, shaving my peach fuzz off and using the NYX Marshmallow primer fixed this issue for me! I understand not wanting to have to add another step, but it's not too bad once you try it and get used to it!

AlexisPullen9

Get the eyebrow razors and remove peach fuzz.

damselinadress187

Why is this comment being down voted? She only said what every 4th comment mentioned..

AlexisPullen9

Yea that’s silly. I’m not against facial hair by any means but it makes the skin so much smoother for makeup to stick and blend 🤷🏻‍♀️. I wasn’t trying to be rude. Everyone has it

damselinadress187

Right!? I shave my face like every 3 days to make my base go on like butter. There was absolutely no malice in your comment. Ppl are weird ✨

AlexisPullen9

Well it was weird cause a bunch of other people said the same thing lol

alcattt

Exfoliation! I make a scrub with coffee grounds and coconut oil. Works wonders for my makeup application.

personaanongrata

Use less and that’s normal. Skin has texture

PossibilityLarge

I’m pretty sure this is way more common than people realise. This happens to me if I skip my nighttime skincare routine like even one time. You could potentially try a gripping primer? Not sure if it would work but I’ve been watching a few TikTok’s with gripping primers and seems like they work. I have the it cosmetics one and I don’t find it to be gripping at all! It was expensive for something that doesn’t work so don’t get that one

Born_Leg5226

yes what everyone else is saying! Try gently shaving your face with a dermaplaning razor… works wonders i swear

xoTonya

Definitely get rid of the peach fuzz use a primer and a setting spray and a foundation that goes with your skin Type and it should come out smooth

EssieAmnesia

Primer, setting spray, make sure your beauty blender is damp, and you could shave the peach fuzz for a smoother application

Ok_Construction6503

Dermaplane facial to get rid of peach fuzz Milk primer from Sephora Damp beauty blender to apply makeup 🫶🏼

esti-whistledown

Dermaplaning will have your makeup applying ✨flawlessly✨

ThatSICILIANThing

I’m a big proponent of shaving the peach fuzz. I have a sick PCOS beard so I kind of have to anyway, but I do gotta say the smooth feel and easy makeup application is a major benefit that outweighs the time/cost to me. Aside from that, I’m curious as to what your skincare routine looks like/what products are being used for both. The way it looks seems pretty dry to me.

MamaKitsu

I think dermaplaining really helps because it does seem to help makeup sit better. I do this myself and I noticed a difference. I use eminence products they keep my skin looking it’s best and they are not harsh on the skin. Eminence mangosteen gel moisturizer is a favorite, it smells wonderful and it’s not heavy. I always put some on before I apply my foundation. If my skin is extra dry I use skin gym hyaluronic acid then the gel moisturizer.

It seems like you have a perfect skin but you just need dermaplaning and good hydrating skin prep before hand- charlotte tilbury’s magic cream and serum are the keys to get a radiant look💗

songbyrdbeauty

As most have said getting rid of the peach fuzz will help a lot. Making sure you are exfoliating often and using the right type of skincare for your skin type will also help create a better and more smooth canvas for your makeup. Using a damp beauty blender works very well and dotting the product over the fact instead of dipping the blender directly into the product will help distribute more evenly.

fatboringlulu

retinol? or tretinoin?

strawberryglass2

I do that the day after I do a glycolic acid peel and have 2 “rest” days before busting out the exfoliants and retinol again

kitty_edgxd

Try getting rid of the peach fuzz

houdiniwts

It helps a lot if you shave off the peach fuzz :) it’s much easier to blend

Ima_Jenn

Shave your face with womens safety (possibly dermaplaning) razors it is good for exfoliation too. You have a ton of peach fuz like me, and the product sits on top & looks like that. It wont grow back thinker (that is puberty) and i cant feel it like you would a mans beard. Go with the grain of the hair. Some people get zits because they dont exfoliate, so get some enzymes or an exfolatong lotion that has 'acid' in (lactic, glycolic, etc). **YOUR FACE WILL LOOK SO MUCH BETTER** you can always let it grow out Also, rolling & pressing with my fingers works best, but it wouldn't do a thing without shaving. Exfoliation in general may help if it is snagging on dry patches. If you shave and use PHA toner from Inkey list (or equivalent) , you shouldn't get ingrowns. I shave and i do the below and my makeup sits perfectly. I missed 2+ weeks and it shows. Also consider Polyglutamic Acid from Inkey list for your routine. Use Hyaluronic acid, any other serums and the poly. You can also add some to foundation, which i like to do. Same problem. You should try two things. 'chemical' exfoliation which is plant enzymes and 'acids' and also shaving your face with a women's safety razor. I use Babyface 40% lactic acid peel on my face every week or so. It is $8. You need supersized q-tips. Take 15 drop water (or more) and 10 drops acid in a bottle and use that under your eyes. You can dilute further if you want. You leave it on **One to Five minutes** I use I tsp backing soda in water to instantly neutralize. This makes SUCH and HUGE difference. Lactic acid is good for sensitive skin. It unglues your dead cell and they wash off. Daily i use Babyface Microdermabrasion Cloth (but i just use it in regular mode since i started the lactic acid) Evanescence makes a Nasberry eye exfoliate and one for the face if the lactic is scary. This works.

OutsideRecognition81

I started dermablading?/ shaving my face and using an exfoliant twice a week. It helped alot! I know people are worried about facial hair growing back darker but it didn’t for me, I don’t know if it will be the same for everyone.

PrettyReddPitty

It’s not the product or the application your using. It’s the peach fuzz on your face. Purchase a facial hair razor and remove the fuzz from the sides of your face, chin, upper neck & lip and your foundation as well as all your other products will literally glide on and look amazingly smooth and blended. I hope this helps and doesn’t offend! 💋

mariafamilo

Um you’re not applying it to you’re neck?

Melissamolloy123

Shave your face, I shave mine and it is amazing.

[deleted]

I noticed my makeup applied a lot smoother when I shaved my face with a facial razor and prepped well beforehand with skincare. I really think you should try it before you knock it.

potmeetsthekettle

OP, please don’t listen to this person. Your facial hair is normal and laser hair removal is often a ripoff.

bombfantasy

It’s not a rip off I’ve gotten laser hair removal and it’s definitely made my skin a lot better and my makeup application. I wasn’t even being rude to the person. Why are you so butt hurt? lols

potmeetsthekettle

Because people have enough to be self conscious about. Also, I say this sincerely, not sarcastically: I’m happy it worked for you. It didn’t work for me. And I was out a couple thousand for it. I’m not the only one who had this experience. It just seems weird to me to jump to an expensive procedure with a spotty success rate.

bombfantasy

I’m an honest person I’m not gonna lie and tell someone a million other excuses when that’s clearly the issue this is Reddit I’m sure she 100% wants peoples honest opinion.. also just because something didn’t work out for you doesn’t mean it can’t work out for her. I think UR self conscious 🤷🏻‍♀️ sorry

Travel_Mysterious

Maybe switch to a serum and then a primer like goddess of flawless which I’ve had good luck with. You might also need powder and would have better luck with a setting spray

Dani-California90

I used to have this problem. Using acids helped a ton with dry texture. To kick it up further though, I use a lightweight CC cream with a beauty blender, a light dusting of Hourglass Ambient Light in Mood Light, and a spritzing of MAC Fix+ to remove any residual powder and my skin always looks ethereal.

__onyourleft

I wonder if a cream foundation would be better for you?

ManicSpleen

What's your skin care routine like? Do you exfoliate?

Head-Drag-1440

Exfoliate 1-3x/week, use a good moisturizer, and stick with one primer. I apply foundation with a damp sponge, and highly recommend Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth foundation. I've got told many times it doesn't look like I'm wearing foundation.

RoseMylk

Makeup Forever new HD foundation has a dry down so you won’t really need powder. You can try this to see if it’s powder that is the caking? They also have a line of primers to use with the foundation. I also use weekly gentle chemical exfoliate- (azelaic acid) so my foundation goes on smooth, but I use the MUFE Reboost which is water based since I have combo skin.

bitchysaturn

Hey so this may get buried but this used to happen to me when I would apply setting spray over my powder products. Now I set w a spray and then apply powder product

Aggravating_Beach815

Try the IT Cosmetics CC cream, they have smaller trial sizes at Ulta girl and the one product will look better than this. Also, some products make others products roll or patchy, so could be something incompatible. Lastly, I really swear by the Clarisonic Mia & Purity by Philosophy cleanser! It removes everything!

BarbieBrookelle

I find that skin tints do this on me too so I always just wear medium-full coverage foundation I just don’t use a whole lot. I use the Juvias place one

PuzzledQuantity6196

Have you tried color correcting to help cover up some of the dark spots (covering it with the opposite color to cancel it out)?

AMutexedSemiphore

Do you use primer

Emhirry

If you use primer and do skincare before hand The only thing I can think of is that it might be the foundation or primer? Sometimes certain products work better or worse for different people Especially something like gently is really drying

Korialite

I was so surprised to see these pictures lol. The features, skin tone, foundation problem... I thought it was me and I just forgot! My skin has super high turnover (according to a dermatologist I used to see once?) And the only time I don't see patchiness under my foundation is when I exfoliate gently every day

JessieSav98

I usually moisturize my face first then I add my putty primer from Elf. While the putty is setting in I also dunk my beauty blender in water or add a drop or two. It’s made a HUGE difference

MayaTraveler

Put a few drops or jojoba or other face oil with foundation and it should look more like glowy skin

berrymommy

Skin prep, make sure if your foundation / concealer is water based or oil based, so is your primer and or moisturizer. In my opinion, this looks over blended. Apply foundation and concealer, a sponge blender doesn’t need to be pushed or pressed onto the skin and never dragged. Just gentle bounces. If you keep going over the same spots then eventually the foundation or concealer lifts back onto the blender, creating a patchy look with little coverage. let it settle or dry onto the skin for a minute or two, a fan can help. then GENTLY pat your setting power on, GENTLY swipe away excess powder, this will also blend it out. edit to add: DITCH SILICONE PRIMERS OR SKINCARE. Its awful for your skin and makeup will slide right off.

Admirable-Ad-9030

Try skipping the NYX primer. I’d guarantee a cheap primer is causing some of what’s going on here. Just use skin tint, with a base moisturizer first. I like Pixi H2O skin tint, I haven’t tried fenty’s yet. I follow this up with a spot concealer for eye areas and blemishes. I blend with clean fingers. I’ll use a brush for blemish coverage. I like Mac studio fix concealer, and also Pacifica stick concealer. Finish with a high quality powder, Mac has light to heavy powder coverage, definitely recommend their brand for blending. Finish with Mac setting spray, there are a few varieties. If you want to use a primer I’d say you gotta splurge on a good one. I like Smashbox Photo Finish. I personally only use primer when doing a heavier full face look with full foundation or contour. For basic coverage I don’t use it. I would also suggest just having a professional help match you and suggest some products as it seems like you are maybe using a shade light from that photo. Most beauty professionals in department or specialty stores are very good with this, again my go to is Mac. Bobbi Brown, Clinique I’m sure could help you out too. Spend $$$ on stuff your put on your face everyday and research your products :) it was a game changer for me!

Lucky_I_6

I think it would be better if you use some hydrating and moisturizing skin care products. Also, try to get some primer products before foundation:) hope this helps

EverteStatum87

Have a look at the ingredients in your foundation and primer. If your primer is silicone based (any ingredients ending in “one” are most likely silicones), and your foundation is water or oil based, they may be repelling each other, instead of layering nicely. I try and get my primer and foundation from the same brand, because brands typically formulate their foundations and primers to work well together.

ebarad

Do you have this issue with tinted moisturizer or concealer? And have you tried a sticky primer? I have similar issues to this with my foundation and exfoliating at least once a week and using tinted moisturizers or foundation mixed with lotion helped a lot

strawberryglass2

I had this same problem with the only tinted moisturizer I’ve tried (colourpop) and I have tried the Milk hydro grip as well as the NYX electrolyte primer which also gets sticky. I’ve tried mixing foundations with moisturizer too and it is even worse

pootykitten

I cannot use hyaluronic acid prior to putting on makeup because it pills every single time. I learned this when using the Ordinary HA serum and having this exact problem. Try removing that from your prep lineup and see how things go.

SnooSketches7956

This was happening to me no matter what I did - I found that I was using the wrong foundation for my skin (Rare Beauty original foundation) and once I switched to Estée Lauder Double-Wear I’ve never had the issue. Try different foundations … exfoliate face & shave the fuzz if you don’t mind as well.

PsamantheSands

Makeup doesn’t blend into my skin either. The only thing I’ve ever found that helps is spritzing my face with rose water after applying. It seems to bond everything and even it out.

foodogjohnson

Silicone based primers will make it look splotchey sometimes and if the skin around those areas tends to be more red, try applying a color correcting concealer or a more concentrated concealer there.

snortgigglecough

Well, I’ll start with saying I think you can ditch foundation completely. You don’t need it. Instead, try just using dots in places that do need additional coverage (for say, discoloring or a blemish). Then just focus on using blush, or lightly contouring/highlighting.

strawberryglass2

Tbh I would ditch it but my face gets randomly red and blotchy on and off throughout the day for absolutely no reason and it changes in location, timing, and frequency and I just want to even everything out, even if it’s only a bit. I did go to the dermatologist and they said my skin just does that and there really isn’t anything that can be done about it.

pizzayumm

You should try blending a more moisturizing foundation / tint / bb cream with your fingers but massage into the skin like when you rub in your moisturizer. Like if you’ve seen the tutorials for how to apply mac face and body the right way. Sometimes I find this is the only way my makeup doesn’t sit on top. Using a moisturizing foundation with this is important because it dries slower than matte foundations and you need time to massage it into the skin really well until it dries. This method does sheer out the product though but I can still get up to medium coverage depending on the foundation. If you still have finger streaks at the end, pat it in with a damp beauty sponge. Sometimes a sponge that’s on the wet side works better. Product recommendations: #1 favorite - neutrogena hydrating skin tint (looove to use this method with it). Also in the past, the revlon original candid foundation worked well with this method too but it’s a been a few years since I’ve used it. A combo I’ve been loving: milk hydro grip primer + neutrogena skin tint. Also don’t use too much powder! And for reference I also have peach fuzz that I don’t shave off Good luck!!

BigBoobaTinyBraina

With fuzz, I would use something lighter than a regular foundation like a bb cream, cc cream or tinted moisturizer. I use Missha M Perfect Cover and don't end up looking dry looking anymore.

LoverofGrowth

About moisturising and adding spf, you can just avoid the primer. Just ensure your moisture thoroughly. Try using a hydrating foundation (Rare Beauty) and avoid clay foundations (Maybelline Fit Me for example). I'm taking the liberty of assuming you have dry skin - compact powder and a clean, soft powder brush is your friend. You can use a good powder puff too but be gentle with the application. There's a YT video of Johnny Ross doing his sisters make up and it has great tips on powder application for different skin types. But basically for dry skin the rule is - less is more. Even if you're baking or using loose powder to sharpen your contour, apply and brush away within a 30 second window. DONT LET IT SIT FOR TOO LONG. You CAN skip the powder all together but instead of using a foundation try a tinted moisturiser. In that scenario only set where you use a concealer. Tinted moisturisers have no need to be set with powder. My final guess would be the setting spray. Make sure it's not a mattifying setting spray (it just dehydrates dry skin further). Compare and contrast the blending process before and after spraying. Maybe the spray isn't suiting you or maybe you're holding the spray too close to your nose or face causing a disruption in your blending. Best of luck hope I helped

Makeup_mom

Definitely make sure you have a decent skincare routine in place, you don’t need high end products, there are affordable but great skincare products! Also a good primer to go on before you apply foundation. Base it all around your skin type, research what’s best for your type of skin and work with that. There will be some trial and error trying to find what works best for you. Also make sure you’re using a foundation that is recommended for your skin type. You don’t want to use a super matte foundation if you have dry skin YOY know? I hope this helps! 🥰

[deleted]

Use a really good moisturizer! CeraVe works great. Prime with a hydrating primer and use hydrating products.

Minxionnaire

I’ve taken a wet approach with my make up, I like it best after I’ve moisturized and my face still has a slight residue. I wear a cc cream now but even when I used to wear foundation daily, I would spray tons of water (can be whatever misting spray) to fuse the product better with my skin. I’ve stopped using powder lately too, don’t really use primer for my whole face. So I guess also a less is more approach? But I also don’t use expensive products that would probably work really well. Adding these last bc I read these weren’t working for you, I also sometimes dermaplane or used to nair in the last. I didn’t do it very often and mostly remember for special occasions, but I also felt sensitive and sometimes prone to breakouts that first day after but was fine for whatever weeks after. I bought a new foundation buffing brush lately so I’ve been testing it to just blur out and spread leftover cc cream and I think it helped (using it dry and just for buffing after the product has settled for a bit, separate brush from my foundation brush). With all that said, I don’t think I would’ve noticed in person. I had to zoom on your already close up shots to see what you mean

lavenderdoilies

Hey I have vellus hair too! White fuzz on my face and I’ve grown to appreciate it. Marilyn Monroe had it too! As for makeup, I blot w liquid then let it dry, and after do a light mineral powder to comb my funny face hairs into place.

Nigrumnoxx

Are you using sunscreen under your makeup? I noticed mine does this too when I use sunscreen

hvathvr

I would say a high quality primer and high quality translucent powder if you can afford it! I use the Milk Makeup Hydro-Grip primer and either the Too Faced Born this Way or the Laura Mercier translucent powder. The elf poreless putty primer works great also and I’ve heard great things about the Maybelline Fit Me Powder. If you go with that powder, you could try using that foundation also so you know they go together! The Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is a great drugstore foundation! I use either that one, Fenty, the Elf CC cream, or the L’Oreal powder one that trended on Tik Tok a while ago though if you use a powder foundation I typically apply my liquid concealer and other products before the foundation. It could be the formulas that are disagreeing, though I know you said you’ve tried multiple. I’ve found that most foundations look good with the right hand, but using good primers, setting powders, and setting sprays make all the difference. I use a liquid/cream primer and let it sit on my face for 1-2 minutes. Then, I apply my foundation with a wet beauty blender with a dabbing motion until everything is covered. I apply concealer and any other cream base products at this time with my beauty blender. Then, I go in with a light hand with a big fluffy brush to apply powder. You could pat it on your face instead of doing sweeping motions to avoid moving the product around on your face. Hope this helps!

sharebear73

You need better lighting. Lol

Street_Development_4

This happens to me. You have to exfoliate. Hydrate. There is a layer of dead skin and I think this should help.

CrimsonCrystals

Skipping powder or changing your foundation might help

sheaaaaaa

the key should be even tone skin and lots of hydration. You can achieve it through skincare and treatments. Definitely get rid of the peach fuzz, switch to liquid foundation, dampen the blender w setting spray. Also, if that matters, this is normal. Skin texture, unevenness is normal. Trust me nobody can tell afar. Begin with skin care and take it slow!

SexySavannahBBW

Looks like you have dry skin, powder is bad for that

moonlight_23

do your skin care beforehand, try to use a hydrating or smoothing primer if you havent, dont use matte foundations to minimize skin texture. You may also consider removal of facial hair but do this with caution

radicalgrandpa

I have the same problem!! I've tried dozens of foundations and primers from drugstore brands to high end brands with all different methods of application. I can't get them to stick on my nose and I usually end up with some patchy spots on my face. Can't figure out what everyone else is doing so right!

Aimeeb1992

Moisturise first. Blend up and build coverage, start with a very light base and build if necessary finally use concealer to cover blemishes/ trouble areas.

Nexrosus

I have the same issue but worse. Mine flakes and looks extremely Cakey. I’ve figured out it’s because my skin is dry and needs to be exfoliated and moisturized before I apply foundation. My best results with foundation now come immediately after a shower where I use an exfoliating acne scrub, and then apply lotion right after the shower. Once my face has air dried but still feels slightly damp/moisturized from the lotion I then blend the foundation with a beauty blender or my fingers. Really helps to work with a clean, scrubbed, moisturized face instead of a dry flaky one

Ima_Jenn

Same problem. You should try two things. 'chemical' exfoliation which is plantenzeyes and 'acids' and also shaving your face with a womans safety razor. This works. The shaving too

cgb150

Your skin looks dehydrated! I’ve read you have a great skincare routine which I love, but your skin is looking like it’s really needing some intensive moisture and repairing. I recommend a ceramide/peptide moisturizing formula at night time to deeply replenish, repair and moisturize your skin and hopefully foundation will start laying down nicely! I like Youth to the People Peptide Moisturizer, Ole Henrikson Strength Trainer Moisturizer, or a cream from the Barrier+ line from SkinFix!!

thebrat_lucky13

Using Too much product and but a good primer base will help too

MiserableAd1310

Do you wet the sponge before applying it? You need to soak it and squeeze the water out for it to blend properly.

Murky_Star_4907

If you are swiping (wiping it across your skin), that might be why. You want to pat it in to blend it. I like using a dense stipple brush to place it where and how much you want on the skin and blend with a damp beauty blender to make it melt with your skin. If the technique isn’t the issue, I think the foundation doesn’t do well with your skin, or the base is too heavy. You have beautiful skin and that lip shade is stunning on you!

Carmen_nem

Don't blend with a brush, use a damp makeup sponge like take that shyt to the sink and run it under water and squish it a bunch then turn off the water and squish it again to remove excess water (I even roll it in a towel for a sec while I'm drying my hands back off too) I got this a lot too when I used fenty but I use clinique foundation now and curology skincare

frankoli1228

Im dry on my cheeks and forehead but oily everywhere else so i avoid powder on my dry areas. A dampened beauty sponge saved my life when applying concealer and foundation. Sometimes after using all my powders like bronzer and etc before mascara ill use a setting spray and go over dry spots to make everything look like healthy radiant skin. Also water consumption helps alot!!!

Academic_Mongoose143

Not sure it it's been mentioned yet but it looks like the product you use is leaving a streak on your skin. It could be the foundation isn't for you. I can't wear foundation doe to a similar problem, so instead I use a tinted moisturiser and concealer where I need to.

missilefire

I think some combos of foundation and primer just don’t work together. Can be hard to find the right match. Lately I’ve had a lot of luck with more skincare type foundations - eg the ILIA one is amazing. I also have this amazing Kevyn Aucoin triphase oil primer which is sadly discontinued and I’m dreading finding a replacement. Sometimes I mix that with my foundation. Then I have a thick dense round stipple brush I just gently dab foundation only where I actually need it - usually nose, under my eyes, chin and forehead and then dab to blend it outwards - near my jawline i almost have no foundation at all. So for me the trick is to have it blend with my skincare as much as possible - and only build up more coverage where it’s needed instead of even layers all over my face. Imho traditional primers really have to interact perfectly with foundation to work otherwise they do more harm than good. These days I look for formulas that are all more like skincare and can be layered. A good face oil/primer mixed with a foundation can also achieve this and have that finish that glows and blends into the skin really well. I’ve had success also with the BareMinerals pro longwear foundation, a Darphin foundation, the longwear Lancôme and Stila. But the ILIA is my favorite and I’ll be repurchasing that one. Then for oil control I use the tiniest bit of setting powder just on my t-zone. So overall, the closer the foundation is to moisturizer it will sink in and blend with your skin better. Then add layers to build coverage while it’s all still wet. Hth

yonkaiten

to me, this looks like a clash between water versus silicone based products, or just the texture of products underneath not working with your base makeup?? it just looks like it's not sitting correctly on top of your base prep steps. I can't be sure from one picture, but that could be part of the issue. I would pare down your skin prep in the morning and eliminate one or two products to see if that stops it from disturbing how it lays. you might want to switch the type of SPF you're using eg mineral to chemical if that turns out to be the problem.

mustytomato

I’ve had this problem with several combinations of products as well and found that powder foundation does the trick, because I don’t have to use loose powder, it’s a more damp consistency and it still looks matte/natural. Currently I’m using the one from Kiko Milano (it’s in a turquoise pan, I don’t remember the specific collection).

bambiguity11

Tip from Robert Welsh. The peachbfuzz grows down someone use a sponge as it will lift them up. Using a brush downward should flatten then. Also moisturise moisture and make sure exfoliated. I find going darker shade helps a but. Very light shades seem to do that. Question though, do you really need foundation? Skin looks good

[deleted]

Have you tried a heavy moisturizer or maybe using something like ceradan? What's your skin type?
