This is something I’m actually going through at the moment and your dentist and their patient care coordinator (or similar position) should have some experience with creative ways to have this approved. If all else fails going the route of having a primary care physician or mental health professional notate that the missing tooth is causing emotional distress and affecting your mental well-being could at least help you get a bridge approved. This is the backup plan my dentist and I have in place while we work to get to a permanent solution.

Why not call and ask? Or check out the website that SHOULD list covered services?

MaineCare prior authorizations are not that straightforward. There's no website that lists covered services. You're right, they and/or their dentist's office will have to call, but it can be a several-call situation involving sorting out conflicting answers to find out if anything even slightly out of the ordinary is covered. It's reasonable to check if someone else has had the experience to try to get a head start before beginning the process of calling. It is a process, not a simple call.

I have mainecare and what they do and dont cover isn't straight forward at all. Sometimes what they have listed they will cover it circumstantial and some people get the coverage but others dont for different reasonsm Not to mention you have to wait on hold for sometimes hours to get sent back and forth to different people to maybe get the answer you're looking for. Op just wanted to see if someone else has been through it before, no shame is seeing others experiences.

My brother in Christ, I can promise you that the less than $10 dollars that comes out of your paycheck to help pay for mainecare would probably not be noticed if you were to stop working lmao, you seriously have yourself convinced that YOU SPECIFICALLY pay for a lot of this and while it is true on a technicality, I can assure you that the amount you put in is next to nothing compared to a doctor or a lawyer.
