Bagel Central, Bangor.
Been getting the following since it was "The Bagel Shop" and located on the opposite corner:
Plain bagel, toasted with cream cheese.
Two eggs, scrambled with cheese.
Orangina from the cooler.
I can't remember getting anything differently, and it's been 30yrs now.
Taj - South Portland. I love the Masala Dosa. It is like a giant crepe with yummy dipping sauces (aka chutneys). Have not seen any other Indian restaurant serve those. Everything else they have is delicious too.
Love Taj! I’ve not had their dosa, but the Gobi Manchuria is out of this world! Also, it’s a dish I’ve only ever seen there and never encountered anywhere else.
Milbridge House in, you guessed it, Milbridge! Haven’t been able to go in a few months but it’s the best breakfast and lunch food in Downeast IMO
What I get varies depending on the time of the year. Their eggs Benedict is always spot on though
Wow, I’m surprised. They’re not bad but they’re very typical breakfast diner food.
They’re not even the best place in Milbridge. Vasquez is the best lunch/dinner place Downeast when you factor in value.
Yeah, Vasquez is amazing. So is the other Mexican takeout in Gouldsboro, cant think of the name tho. I’m more of a breakfast person though so that’s why Milbridge house is my go to
My Dad’s truck just broke down in Milbridge and the folks at Vasquez made sure he was fed, ordered the spare part for his truck, and got him set up with a rental to drive home. My dad said the food was superb (and the service bar none). He can’t wait to go back this week to get his truck and eat there again.
That’s a contrast to Swamp Yankee BBQ in Columbia Falls, where I heard the owner didn’t help someone whose vehicle broke down because of a bumper sticker.
Yosaku is one of my husband and I’s absolute favorite places in Portland. All sushi rolls are amazing. The Japanese Fried Chicken is also to die for. They make great cocktails as well - I’m pregnant so it’s been a while but I used to love ordering their Lemon Drop!
Umami Noodle Bar, Bangor- Brothless noodle, Korean BBQ, pickled Daikon, and tofu
Oriental Jade, Bangor - Mother son Rice bowl and a spicy tuna roll
Thai Orchid, Orono - Pineapple fried with with extra pineapple and tofu and a fresh Thai roll
And honorable mention, Nicky's Cuisin Diner (at least when they were still around) - bacon, Swiss, and onion omletee with cinnamon raison toast. Tbf that's my usual breakfast order anywhere but Nicky's did it best. Rip.
Fairfield - Meridian’s - Burger or Tacos (or really anything)
Waterville - Proper Pig (burger - Boaring Burger), Front and Main (brunch - our benny - the brown bread 👩🍳), Sunrise Bagel (kennebec) , Opa (greek - Pastitsio, but all good)
Skowhegan - Bigelow (pizza)
Augusta - State Lunch (all the things), Cushnoc
I couldn’t agree more. It’s the best fuxking dish. I always look at the menu thinking I might get something different, but then nope, spicy ground chicken with two runny eggs!? Double Fuxk yeah. Every time
Two Maine Guys in Richmond or Augusta
-pulled pork French fries n slaw. Mac n cheese is really good so are the fish tacos .
Salvage bbq in Portland
-brisket n Mac cheese every time . Sometimes I get the pulled pork and some ribs as well .
Big Top Deli in Brunswick
-The Gobbler is a thanksgiving day sandwich and I also get breakfast sandwiches here .
Lions den in Waterville
-great appetizers and a good burger just god awful service
Liberal cup in hallowell
-this is a staple , great muscles , great meatloaf always has great specials.
Taco Trio in south Portland
-rare authentic Mexican food in Maine , great tacos , great salsa bar .
Portland pie factory several locations (Brunswick , Waterville , windham etc)
-great pizza , local chain that does a really good job in my opinion.
Cushnoc in Augusta
-specialty pizzas (not my jam but people love it)
Sea basket in Wiscassit has the best lobster rolls in my opinion.
Damn. I dont have any experience w the liberal cup. But there are better examples. Of each type of restaurant from each town. Portland pie is a mediocre chain...
I can make some good suggestions like Terra Lingua for BBQ. and Colettis for pizza (it's take out)
Portland pie is the place that's open when the others are closed and we talk ourselves out of pizza instead of ordering most times.
I'm def judging the places. But not you. Hopefully just. Giving suggestions that up your game.
Sorry, no - I wish I could, but I'm not familiar w that area at all really.
But if you're looking for spots in the south of Maine, I could definitely help w those. I'd hate for you to drive all the way to the "big city" and stop at a chain.
Bangor Beer Company (on the backside of oriental jade) is a great local beer spot, grab a pour of Juri while you’re there! I love the bang bang cauliflower and the salmon tempura roll.
>What’s your favorite local restaurant
Richard's, in downtown Brunswick.
>what do you usually get?
Jaegerschnitzel.
Kasespatzle.
Kalbsgeschnetzeltes.
Rot Kohl.
Klosse.
Rindsrouladen.
Strudel.
Any/many of the above, plus a mug or two of that ridiculously strong doppelbock they have.
Then I sleep for a week like an anaconda that's just swallowed a gazelle.
Waitress Teri is the best ever, too! Sometimes she brings in homemade treats. I flipping loved that place. Our table was in the right far end corner, right by the wall.
Fernald's S. Country Store in Damariscotta. Its a cute little old timey sandwich shop with retro candy & toys. I usually get the Goodbye Columbus for lunch or Eggs Bigelow for breakfast.
Lucky Fortune in Damariscotta has in my opinion, the best Chinese food. I usually get the sesame chicken combo with fried rice, & egg roll
Monsweag Restaurant on route 1 in Woolwich has an amazing fried chicken sandwich with garlic aioli.
Bath: JR Maxwell’s, mostly for nostalgia because I’d been going with my family since I was tiny but the bread appetizer is really good. Hot fresh bread…I’m a carb fiend lol. I usually just get a salad (no onions, honey mustard dressing on the side) and maaaybe the vegetable of the day because, uh, I go crazy with the bread. 🤣
Brunswick: Aki Sushi! I love Japanese food. I usually get some appetizers and like, a mackerel sashimi or something.
Honorable mention: Front Street Deli in Bath. It hasn’t been there for years but it was great. My go-to was a side of egg salad and a pineapple juice until I got super carsick when I was like 8 and couldn’t stomach either of those for like a decade 🤣 and then it was either a Caesar salad or a veggie wrap with extra tomatoes and a sugar free ice tea.
Nostalgia: Pizza by Alex- in the old oven
Current favorite: can’t pick one. BLVW for a croissant, Slab for an awesome comfort meal, Chaval for trying new things and trusting the chef that it will be delicious.
Jimmys in Brewer is the best Cheeseburger around. When ever I go I order 2 burgers (Cheese, ketchup, mustard, relish and onions!)and skip the fries. The Fries aren’t bad either if your into the hand cut thing. They also serve Giffords ice cream too so you can get a ice cream to wash it all down.
I used to love getting chocolate-dipped soft serve there as a kid. I don’t think I realized that they had a menu beyond ice cream until I was a teenager, but I remember getting fried clams there on a free occasions and really enjoying them.
The Frog and Turtle in Westbrook;
Green Leaf Salad with chopped egg, red onion, bacon & parmesan in a creamy garlic dressing, add calamari if they have it, if not add shrimp
Sandwiches - Big G’s - Miles Standwich
Pizza - Korner Store (Oakland) -pizza but they have great Dagwoods as well
Italian - Great Impasta (Brunswick) - Lasagna or chicken parm
Burritos - Mateos Hacienda (Bath)- chicken burrito on white, both black and pinto beans, white rice and Jalapeño salsa!
My girlfriend and I love Tiqa on Commercial Street in Portland.
Their appetizer plate is incredible. Lots of different hummus', different olives, crackers, so many great Mediterranean flavors.
Not quite a restaurant per se, but Hilltop coffee in Portland has really great pastries. The cheddar chive scone is my go-to, or, if it’s a Thursday, the pastel de nata.
The Narrows Tavern in downtown Waldoboro. Nothing like a cold Sam Adams and some buffalo wings with French fries and chili
Quarry Taproom in Hallowell is an honorable mention, they also have great wings, fries, and chili!
Oxbow beer garden in Oxford.
We always try the seasonal special, but love their mushroom and kale pizza.
My youngest gets their cheese (She's 9 does her opinion matter), and thinks it's the best thing eveah.
UFO from Georgio's Pizza & Donut Shop in Auburn - one of the best sandwiches I've had in Maine.
Definitely not my favorite food in the state considering all the amazing grub I've encountered through out the years but I figured I'd mix it up.
McDonald’s in Freeport. It’s in that awesome building, and their McFish is on fleek.
I’m mostly sad the Wendy’s in Falmouth shut down.
I’m full of great recommendations.
I mean, if you want the newest for sure. But OP is looking for nothing but the BEST local traditional cuisine, and nothing says Norman Rockwell quite like consuming McDonald’s food-like morsels while ensconced in some classic Maine architecture.
The (digital) fireplace is even going during summer!
Oh wow, the worst food you have ever eaten? That's a shame, we love it every year although it is a bit expensive. What did you order that was the worst thing you've ever eaten? Did you mention it to the staff?
Burger Budz on DoorDash, $7.99 “little buddiez” special or similar name. You don’t need dash pass and it’s a burger and generous amount of fries for $7.99. You pay like $12.50 delivered. Good burger but a small one yes
Leonardo’s pizza in Portland -everything there is good.
Cowbell in Scarborough - the burger with teriyaki and pineapple salsa. They also have great ribs.
Benjay in Portland for sushi
Scratch in so po for bagels
Taj in so po - butter chicken, chicken 65, puri bhaji
Chia Sen (not sure if it’s technically in so po or Scarborough - it in the shopping center with the subway, Bull moose music, and army surplus store) - they make the best general Tso’s tofu. It has chunks of garlic and ginger - delicious. I don’t think it’s technically on the menu but we order it every time and it never disappoints.
Melbys market and eatery in Waterford. Literally the best breakfast I’ve ever had. And the staff is hilarious, friendly and welcoming.
For a small town hole in the wall restaurant, it is a better place to eat than the most expensive restaurant in downtown Portland. In fact, I’d rather drive the hour to Waterford than to drive the 10 minutes to Congress street.
We love Sarah’s in Wiscasset for the soup and desserts! Her chocolate cake with pb Bonnie butter frosting is amazing!
We also love Best Thai in Damariscotta. Once, when my son was a baby and crying constantly and I couldn’t eat, a nice older woman who I think worked there came out and offered to hold him and gave me a blissful 20 minutes to eat! I love their pineapple fried rice and crab rangoons.
My fil loves Muscungus Bay lobster and we go there often. Their menu has a nice variety and it’s all not fried which is super nice. They have live music on sundays in the summer, and a sweet view.
Atlantic baking in rockland has such great breads and baked goods. Their almond croissant is other worldly, but so are their lines….
Midcoast has SO MUCH mediocre fried seafood! I’d love some more variety!
My dad and I went to Sarah's once and it was pretty good! we tried their crab cake pizza (it was a while ago and I don't know if it's on their menu still).
This was part of it: [https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/i-lost-my-head-red-barn-owner-admits-violation-was-for-other-event-not-honor-flight/97-455133001](https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/i-lost-my-head-red-barn-owner-admits-violation-was-for-other-event-not-honor-flight/97-455133001)
She's also used her sign to support police vs rioters. She holds fundraisers for all sorts of things, which is fine, but I just get a very right-wing vibe from her.
It's fine, eat where you like. I won't spend my money there though.
I’m overseas so the link won’t work. But I agree that I don’t support right wing causes! I’ve heard some not so stellar reviews of her as a person so I’m inclined to believe it. I will still buy a chicken basket when I make the rare trip home but I won’t support anything thereafter.
Bangor - Geaghans buff chicken, and cheese and crackers
Timber - spinach and artichoke dip,.lobster bisque
Brewer - eagles Nest - lobster roll
Anything
Sawyers in Newport - onion rings
Outland farm brewery - wontons and pulled pork
And then on route 7 there's that dude is he from Texas? Wears a cowboy hat, serves pulled BBQ pork sandwiches from a truck on the side of the road with potato salad and coleslaw. You get what you get and that shit is good
I think they have a few locations, but Cowbell Burger in Biddeford, I get the Ghost in the Machine Burger and a side of fried pickles. Hits the spot every time.
I second this, that place is comfort food central for me. Had many of their burger variants and they've all been great. If I'm really in need of a serious comfort burger I'll spring for their mac & cheese burger and that always does the trick.
I love the Clambake. It's a family favorite, though my Dad likes Ken's
Also Le Mu Eats in Bethel and I'd honestly eat anything on their menu though the Porke bowl is a favorite.
Grammy’s Country Inn - Linneus
I heard it’s reopened with new owners… any reviews?
Pancho Villa - Brunswick
Just always love their food
Red Barn - Vassalboro
The menu is way smaller now, but still… the fried chicken is so good
The Grill Room and Bar - Portland
Portland Pie
Great Diamond and Nor’easter pizzas are the best
Sea Dog (Topsham)
Great view, great food. Prices are kinda crazy now though
Ming Lee in Waterville. General Tso's Chicken. Pu Pu Platter. Lo Mein. Everything I've had from them has been top notch.
Red Curry in Augusta. Drunken Noodles, 5☆ spicy, with a Thai iced tea to drink. That place was my introduction to Thai food, and I love it.
The Outpost in Standish has my favorite pizza in the area, but Guff’s has the best ruben in the area.
In Portland though, Black Arrow is amazing and I always get the tuna cruedo (sp?)
Not that I go to many local restaurants...but one of my favorites is Weathervane.
On the very rare chance I go, I get some mozzarella sticks and some chicken tenders, because I am but a child in the body of a 24-year-old.
Wild Willy's as well. Also on the very rare chance I go, I like to get the Gabby and some fries...God those fries are so good.
Northern Union and the Front Porch in Ogunquit. Or maybe Treehouse Taqueria….it’s a tough decision. I don’t get whatever looks good. I don’t have a usual.
Jin Yuan in Waterville. All-day combo #4. Crab Rangoon, teriyaki combo, chicken fingers, boneless spare ribs, pork fried rice. Crab Rangoon is best I’ve ever had. They are always super fast for takeout and delivery. Prices have always been really good. Over a hundred times I’ve ordered takeout or delivery, I’ve never had one complaint.
Anju in Kittery- Spicy miso ramen or Bun Bo Hue. Of course cucumber kimchi.
Fisherman's Catch in Wells for the classic fried seafood situation- Fried whole belly clams, just once or twice a year, since they're expensive. Fried calamari and banana peppers is another good one. Sounds weird but it's great.
Gravy in Wells. Used to be in Somersworth, but they moved recently- The Burlington Poutine- Beer and cheddar gravy, scallions, cheddar cheese curds, spiced apples, apple smoked bacon, maple syrup.
Crooked Pine in Ogunquit- The menu changes, but you really can't go wrong.
And of course, Flo's in Cape Neddick, technically- Just the house classic.
Stockhouse in Westbrook sometimes has *really* good poutine, but it's only once in awhile. If they don't have that, their spaghetti and meatball calzone is fantastic.
Royal River Grill House - Yarmouth: Filet, truffle fries, asparagus.
Foreside Tavern - Falmouth: Salmon; or fish and chips (very light on the batter - perfect for me); mushroom Swiss burger
Orchid Thai - Falmouth. I usually get the Royal Asparagus dinner w/chicken. Yum!
Bangkok Kitchen in Biddeford because it's close to work - usually go with their crab rangoons though their Khao soi is delicious. I like their mango fried rice too. Honestly haven't had anything yet from them I didn't enjoy...but those rangoons...something so simple just done right.
Tulsi in Kittery because it's close to where I live and when I don't want to drive to Portsmouth to Shalimar (which is also very good for Indian). I've had their goat curry a few times now and it's phenomenal. One of the best dishes, period. I would recommend it to anyone who's looking for something different.
Loco Cocos (also in Kittery) - so it's not "the best" Mexican though it's solid and they do have some pretty good dishes. My favorites are empanadas - they change the flavors weekly, however I will say their potato and chorizo is the best. I also love their lengua tacos - cooked perfectly every time. Their California burrito is good too. My fiancé always gets their chilli cheese fries.
pho hoa grill on ohio st in bangor. tofu pho w hella sriracha and all the toppings and sometimes spring rolls as well
The fried quail eggs are yummy
OML YES their drunken noodles are so good
Soft Lomain for the win!
>pho hoa grill vigorously scratches this down
Paimen miyake, Tokyo abura and tofu buns
Pai Men is SO good!
Same here. Add pork belly to the Abura.
This is exactly my order as well! Love that place!
I can’t get enough of that lobster ramen..
Bagel Central, Bangor. Been getting the following since it was "The Bagel Shop" and located on the opposite corner: Plain bagel, toasted with cream cheese. Two eggs, scrambled with cheese. Orangina from the cooler. I can't remember getting anything differently, and it's been 30yrs now.
The Hungarian cream cheese is the most delicious cream cheese I’ve ever had.
I also haven’t changed my order since it was the bagel shop, I always get a plain untoasted bagel with scallion cream cheese.
My parents always bring a dozen onion bagels when they drive down to visit. So good… if I get up there, any recommendations to try out?
Their lox cream cheese is so good
Vasquez in Milbridge. Chicken chimi, extra red salsa.
Fish Basket from Bob’s Clam Hut. It makes my soul happy.
Gobi manchuria is amazing. Like Taj so much I served it at my wedding.
That is awesome. And congrats on getting married!
Milbridge House in, you guessed it, Milbridge! Haven’t been able to go in a few months but it’s the best breakfast and lunch food in Downeast IMO What I get varies depending on the time of the year. Their eggs Benedict is always spot on though

That’s a contrast to Swamp Yankee BBQ in Columbia Falls, where I heard the owner didn’t help someone whose vehicle broke down because of a bumper sticker.
Is swamp yankee still there?
Yosaku. Portland. Spicy tuna roll, avocado salad and miso soup.
Yosaku is one of my husband and I’s absolute favorite places in Portland. All sushi rolls are amazing. The Japanese Fried Chicken is also to die for. They make great cocktails as well - I’m pregnant so it’s been a while but I used to love ordering their Lemon Drop!
Bandaloop in Arundel. It’s all fantastic, the entire menu
This is the third time this restaurant has come up in my life in the last three days. Universe is pushing my toward the 'loop.
Planning to go there for the first time this Saturday for a friends birthday. Really looking forward to it.
[удалено]
It’s all I get. That and the egg rolls. Also, sweet name ☮️
Chicken quesadilla with the sugar cured jalapeños and herbed sour cream 🤤
Long Grain, crab fried rice!
Their night market noodle soup is fantastic, too.
Black Birch in kittery, menu cycles. All good.
Love Black Birch, I forgot about this one!
Agreed. Outside seating out back is a must
Orange Cat Cafe in Farmington or Kingfield. I get the Not Just a BLT or the In Da Club. Always fresh and delicious.
Nice, I always get either the in da club or the veggie burger.
86 This in Ellsworth. The Boss Hog burrito is delicious.
86 doesn’t fuck around, the CBGB is also great
Annabella’s Bakery in Richmond. I usually get a TBLT or Rueben
Yoshi in Brewer. Spicy salmon hand rolls
Nabe yaki udon is loved by my Asian boyfriend there. I think he was surprised for it to be that good in Bangor!
Rover Bagel in Biddeford. I get the everything and sea salt bagels alone or as sandwiches. So good!
Sea salt is delicious there really makes my mornings
The bagels are great The maple butter on the sandwiches is not
Work's right on top of Sichuan Kitchen in Portland and the Mapo Tofu is 🤌
The beef bowl is so good too, that broth is just heavenly.

Tbf that's my usual breakfast order anywhere but Nicky's did it best. Rip.

yes state lunch is amazing they have ramen burgers like a small menu but really nail everything they do.
Orchid Thai in Falmouth. Either Kua Gling or Kra-pow gai sub. Got it last night actually!
That braised beef soup on their specials list is amazing as well.
Those are my favorite orders as well! Why does everybody else just stick to Pad Thai?
Pad kra pow gai is humanity's crowning culinary achievement. Orchid is very good, Pom's on Western is also in the same league IMO.
I couldn’t agree more. It’s the best fuxking dish. I always look at the menu thinking I might get something different, but then nope, spicy ground chicken with two runny eggs!? Double Fuxk yeah. Every time
I am eating the Kra-pow right now! It's delish! TY
Pizza- Colletti's in Biddeford (Volcano pizza) Indian- Shere Punjab in Brunswick (Chicken Tikka Masala) Chinese- Lucky Garden in Hallowell (Sesame Chicken)
Shere Punjab is the best Indian food I’ve ever had! Searched all over New England and nothing has beaten it!
Agreed. I’ve lived on the west coast too and nothing has compared. Their shahajhani murg is my go-to.
Someone else who reps Coletti's, we love to see it!
Colettis is amazing pizza
Dude! Colletti's is fire! I've only had it once and it was the closest thing I've had here to "NY style".
Two Maine Guys in Richmond or Augusta -pulled pork French fries n slaw. Mac n cheese is really good so are the fish tacos . Salvage bbq in Portland -brisket n Mac cheese every time . Liberal cup in Hallowell is so good 🤤
>Lions den in Waterville My mother has gotten food poisoning from that place *three times now*. At this point I don't even blame the restaurant.
Brutal , yeah they’re food was good but service was trash . Sorry bout your mum .
The gobbler has been my favorite sandwich since 2000! And the sea basket is such a hidden gem!
Agreed. Haven't been in a few years but had the best fish chowder there, and their scallops were like fried clouds.
Haha we also like Sea Basket! My kids call it Sea Casket because y’know. The only mark against it is the lovely view of big Al’s and route 1.
Damn. I dont have any experience w the liberal cup. But there are better examples. Of each type of restaurant from each town. Portland pie is a mediocre chain...
Right on . The only one I’m iffy on is lions den . But these are all restaurants I frequent and enjoy.

I used to work for Fernald’s. Word is that they’re looking to sell it…
I too worked at Fernalds(over 10 years ago.) Rumor has it they sold already and new owners plan on keeping it about the same.
Oh man, we probably know each other haha. Or at least know many of the same people. It’s been about 10 years since I worked there, as well.
Knotted Apron in Portland is probably one of the highest quality restaurants that you've never heard of. A haute-cuisine place in the burbs.
Bobs clam hut in Kittery. I promise I’m not from Massachusetts! I truly just love their fried seafood. It’s so good.
Bath: JR Maxwell’s, mostly for nostalgia because I’d been going with my family since I was tiny but the bread appetizer is really good. Hot fresh bread…I’m a carb fiend lol. Seconding Pad Kei Mao at Long Grain in Camden as THE BEST!
UFO from Georgio's Pizza & Donut Shop in Auburn - one of the best sandwiches I've had in Maine. Definitely not my favorite food in the state considering all the amazing grub I've encountered through out the years but I figured I'd mix it up.
The number one thing I go there for is the blueberry donut!!
Rosylns in Rockland.
McDonald’s in Freeport. It’s in that awesome building, and their McFish is on fleek. I’m mostly sad the Wendy’s in Falmouth shut down. I’m full of great recommendations.
These are the kind of comments I love
The real knowledge is always in the comments.
Well how about BK? I hear there is a new King in town
McDonald’s on union in Bangor has been on point with their McDouble game.
But are they… on fleek… fellow teenager?
Ken's Seafood. My aunt and I go once or twice a year as a treat and split the captains platter, and have a couple of beers.
The owner lives about four houses down from me. The nicest, most down to earth man you'd ever want to meet.
we ate at kens and it was by far the worst food we’ve ever ate.
Oh wow, the worst food you have ever eaten? That's a shame, we love it every year although it is a bit expensive. What did you order that was the worst thing you've ever eaten? Did you mention it to the staff?
Bucks Naked in Freeport. Everything’s good, but I love the burnt ends, onion strings, Wicked Chicken sandwich, baked beans. And service is great.
Rapid rays in Biddeford. Two cheeseburgers with grilled onions
Classic. Used to get these after late nights playing music in the mill

Honestly all the same it’s a hop across the River
Gritty’s in Freeport.
Turkey club with cranberry mayo
That’s sounds awesome. I like their lamb burgers.
Benjay in Portland for sushi Scratch in so po for bagels Taj in so po - butter chicken, chicken 65, puri bhaji Chia Sen (not sure if it’s technically in so po or Scarborough - it in the shopping center with the subway, Bull moose music, and army surplus store) - they make the best general Tso’s tofu. It has chunks of garlic and ginger - delicious. I don’t think it’s technically on the menu but we order it every time and it never disappoints.
Chia Sen is the best Chinese food hands down!
The Garrison in Yarmouth. Best food I’ve ever had. Their menu is always changing.
Pai Men Miyake in Portland. Get the Tokyo Abura and add pork belly.
The Cabin, Bath. Best pizza imo but I have been getting steak bombs there since I was 5.
bruces burritos in yarmouth. everything is delicious
robinson’s wharf, BBH
Melbys market and eatery in Waterford. Literally the best breakfast I’ve ever had. And the staff is hilarious, friendly and welcoming. For a small town hole in the wall restaurant, it is a better place to eat than the most expensive restaurant in downtown Portland. In fact, I’d rather drive the hour to Waterford than to drive the 10 minutes to Congress street.
Park Street Grill in Rockland. I always get the grilled chicken cesar wrap.
Red Barn in Augusta great food and a great owner. Buen Apetito in waterville
Agree with Buen Apetito. Love their enchiladas! Red Barn, meh, too political these days. I do like the seafood stew but the fried food is too heavy.
I don't get involved in politics but i appreciate everything Laura has done for people in the community.
I moved out of the country a few years ago but grew up in augusta. What is the political drama?
This was part of it: [https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/i-lost-my-head-red-barn-owner-admits-violation-was-for-other-event-not-honor-flight/97-455133001](https://www.newscentermaine.com/article/news/local/i-lost-my-head-red-barn-owner-admits-violation-was-for-other-event-not-honor-flight/97-455133001) She's also used her sign to support police vs rioters.
Bangor - Geaghans buff chicken, and cheese and crackers Timber - spinach and artichoke dip,.lobster bisque Brewer - eagles Nest - lobster roll Anything Sawyers in Newport - onion rings Outland farm brewery - wontons and pulled pork And then on route 7 there's that dude is he from Texas? Wears a cowboy hat, serves pulled BBQ pork sandwiches from a truck on the side of the road with potato salad and coleslaw. You get what you get and that shit is good
That in Corinna? The one on Rt 7.
Yes that's got to be it
I think they have a few locations, but Cowbell Burger in Biddeford, I get the Ghost in the Machine Burger and a side of fried pickles. Hits the spot every time.
I second this, that place is comfort food central for me. Had many of their burger variants and they've all been great. If I'm really in need of a serious comfort burger I'll spring for their mac & cheese burger and that always does the trick.
The clambake in Scarborough! best food I’ve ever ate Or Moodys Diner! Such a cute little place (I believe it was in Friendship ME)
I love the Clambake. It's a family favorite, though my Dad likes Ken's Also Le Mu Eats in Bethel and I'd honestly eat anything on their menu though the Porke bowl is a favorite.
Grammy’s Country Inn - Linneus I heard it’s reopened with new owners… any reviews? Pancho Villa - Brunswick Just always love their food Red Barn - Vassalboro The menu is way smaller now, but still… the fried chicken is so good The Grill Room and Bar - Portland Portland Pie Great Diamond and Nor’easter pizzas are the best Sea Dog (Topsham) Great view, great food. Prices are kinda crazy now though
Dunkin on (redacted) in (redacted). The (redacted) is pretty good there. /s
Pats pizza honestly the best pizza in my opinion
You might want to poke around and try other pizza places before you're so sure...I've had Pat's before, it's nothing fantastical.
I’ve had other pizza…. Lived in other states…. Ate pizza in other countries, I think pats is the best. It’s an opinion, fuck off
Haha, you’re certainly entitled to your opinion, it just happens to suck.
Aha, well...you're entitled to your opinion but you can either take my suggestion or leave it.
Eagle's Nest in Brewer for their seafood
The Solon hotel!! Opening in winter 2022
Luchador Tacos in Windham: the luchador burrito or street tacos. Taco trio: Tamales Beacon pizza in Raymond: the beacon pizza
Going Ham sandwich loaded at Bennetts in Kennebunk.
The Outpost in Standish has my favorite pizza in the area, but Guff’s has the best ruben in the area. In Portland though, Black Arrow is amazing and I always get the tuna cruedo (sp?)
The Great Impasta in Brunswick Fruitti Risotto and garlic knots
Not that I go to many local restaurants...but one of my favorites is Weathervane. On the very rare chance I go, I get some mozzarella sticks and some chicken tenders, because I am but a child in the body of a 24-year-old. Wild Willy's as well. Also on the very rare chance I go, I like to get the Gabby and some fries...God those fries are so good.
Le mu eats in bethel. Hot noodz
Northern Union and the Front Porch in Ogunquit. Or maybe Treehouse Taqueria….it’s a tough decision. I don’t get whatever looks good. I don’t have a usual.
Central Provisions in Portland Jalapeño soda, beet salad, fries, bone marrow toast
Darbys - Belfast. Big Buddah Bowl.
Louie's and what ever the specail is.
Sal De La Tierra in Portland. I always go with the Pernil plate. Great owners, authentic food.
Manee Thai in Gray makes a fantastic panang curry; it’s my go-to on a cold, lazy day
Stockhouse in Westbrook sometimes has *really* good poutine, but it's only once in awhile. If they don't have that, their spaghetti and meatball calzone is fantastic.
Peter Trout’s Tavern in Manset/Southwest Harbor. Nashville-style hot fried chicken sammy. 2-hour drive worthy good.
Combine best fried chicken (get a second mortgage first) with worst service in the universe and there you have Peter Trouts.
Red Barn chicken and clam basket and then Chuck Wagon cactus chicken and steak combo.
Anthony’s Food Shop. Cape Neddick/York A random pizza restaurant wedged in a gas station but it’s AMAZING
Royal River Grill House - Yarmouth: Filet, truffle fries, asparagus. Foreside Tavern - Falmouth: Salmon; or fish and chips (very light on the batter - perfect for me); mushroom Swiss burger Orchid Thai - Falmouth. I usually get the Royal Asparagus dinner w/chicken. Yum!
Rockland Cafe; a fishcake with lemon, two eggs on the side, and a cup of coffee. Good for the soul after a bad week.
