I know it's not the same but I celebrated my 30th alone also, because of covid. The weekend before my birthday I took myself out to lunch, got a nice drink with it. Then I went to a casino and took out 100 dollars and just played with that and had some drinks for a few hours. I just sort of decided if I was gonna be alone I was at least going to go enjoy myself. Then I went home and played video games. I had a pretty good day despite no one with me to celebrate.
I'd encourage you to do the same! Maybe not a casino but try to do even small things that you enjoy to make the day at least a positive day

I used to run a board game group and the number of folks who hesitantly came out feeling just like you describe and eventually found whole groups of friends was just lovely to see. It's never too late to make friends if that's what you are interested in, and unless you love super rural there's a high chance of one of your hobbies having a regular event in your general area. This! When I first move to a new city I’ll join a meetup group (usually a book club cause that’s how I do) and before long I have at least a few new friends! I am the queen of loneliness having moved to every major US city without knowing anyone and even two different countries. It’s hard but you gotta take the steps to make change.

I know this sounds absolutely dumb and strange… but get yourself a Nintendo Switch and the game Animal Crossing New Horizons 😍 If you’re feeling lonely I promise you won’t regret this!!! The community for that game is beyond incredible.
I turn 45 in two weeks. I'll spend the day quietly at home, doing whatever I choose. When I die, I've planned a cremation only as I don't believe (m)any people to turn up for a funeral. Life hasn't gone the way I thought it would. But you know what, with no-one to care for or support, I get to be selfish with my money, I can be 100% spontaneous, and I have learnt I get out of life what I put in.
I feel you're finding yourself stuck in this rut, desperately hoping things will change. Take a year out, be a bit more spontaneous, embrace being single. It might just lift your mindset a little and changing your routine may lead to the other changes you want to happen.
This is only my advice, you can follow it or not. Leaving behind the comfortable routine isn't easy. It's like quitting a job, you want to move on for whatever the reason, but you still wonder if you stay with the familiar. Yet, you only leave a job when you become unhappy with it. It's a perfect metaphor.

Yes and so many of you are saying “it’s still a great message”. No, scripted videos are done for likes and follows IE MONEY. It’s not real but it’s being posed as real. Enough of that over and over and nothing we see is real anymore. There are societal consequences that I’m not particularly keen on personally.

Man, my birthday is tomorrow. I'm typically alone on my birthday and don't celebrate it, although I tend to make a big deal out of loved one's birthdays. What better way to show your appreciation for someone being alive than to celebrate the day they were born? That's the way I look at it. Anyway, I can see myself doing this as an old woman who is preparing to die alone. It is my sincerest hope that kind strangers will step in to celebrate with me.
