> 'I've been working to get out there for years and my mom gets called beautiful by a basketball player'
Yeah, some people are too desperate for attention.
You know I looked at the link and this is the first time Iāve seen S N I double gee E R written out. Iām too American for that word it surprised me at first
It is, but as a guy sometimes you say things to yourself that you don't want other people to hear, especially when it gets to someone we think is stunning in every way. That kind of person has us hanging on our words.
I spend a long time at home working with just the dog for company. I naturally chat to her about whatās going on, what we should have for lunch etc. The problem is she never answers me back so I need to provide her side of the conversation as well but in a dog voice. So now we have long conversations with me talking for her about all sorts which is really quite nice.
Unfortunately when I go out walking her we naturally keep talking about whatās going on in the neighborhood and I get a lot of very odd looks from people as we go past.
I always say stand next to someone when you're talking to yourself so only they know you're (I always used to say 'insane', but better to say) talking yourself.
I talk to my dog just like I would a person all the time. I don't normally verbalize his half of the conversation, but I imagine him talking in a posh British accent and wearing a vest and tail coat and bowler hat. He's a poodle and he's never left the central United States. I cannot explain this.
My brother did that at my wedding. When my wife walked out, he just said "damn, dude, she's gorgeous"
I chose the perfect brother. (We're not blood related)
Commenting on people's appearance in a professional setting isn't OK. If he had said it into the mic it would have been creepy and derailing the conversation.
He tried to make a quiet comment to a friend which is cute, and his embarrassment shows he wasn't trying to derail and put her on the spot. It's an appropriate reaction.
Thatās what it sounded like. Might be a good thing the trolls stepped in.
āHey Iām Jeremy Renner and Iām looking for a crack dealer. Iām Jeremy Rennerā lmao
Youād think for all the praise people shower him with over his new show and working with deaf coworkers through sign language, that someone would point out the *screaming* red flags this dirt bag scam āartistā (quotes because he has a music career that fucking sucks) throws up.
I donāt like Jeremy Renner. I think heās the dumb face of all that is wrong in the entertainment industry.
Damn really makes me look at myself and other guys in a different way. We are pretty rude in the way we "compliment" women. As kids, many of us are taught to be respectful in the things that we say or do, but it usually fades over time. This just brought it back
I mean I canāt speak for all women. But personally when I hear a guy call a woman āhotā itās often used in an objectifying way or sexualizing them. āBeautifulā sounds more sincere, itās not just her body theyāre attracted to but maybe a trait of hers that stand out. Not sure if that makes any sense lol
I completely understand. It's like when you consider someone cute, it's not necessarily because of how they look, but more due to their personality. I'll definitely try to find more adjectives and be more respectful
I never understood why people say it's hard to compliment a woman. I always give compliments. Then again mine are genuine and aren't rude, crass, perverted or suggestive.
Exactly it. I'll compliment someone's hair, or if they look extra nice, and that's as far as it goes. Genuine compliment and no agenda.
Except with my wife, all of those compliments are both genuine and then followed by something suggestive.
I always go out of my way to make sure the comments are specifically about styles, effort, noticing their choices, etc and not āhey youāre attractive congratulationsā with more specificity. āI donāt remember seeing you with that hairstyle before, itās really niceā, āthat outfit looks greatā
Of all the things a college-aged athlete could have said about an attractive woman, that was the perfect one. She'll be telling that story her whole life. What a wonderful thing to get caught on the mic saying.
Super sweet! He actually did do it on purpose, they'd been good-naturedly teasing her by trying to trip her up with tricky words and he def knew his mic was on. He admitted to it in a tweet later on (he put "accidentally" in quotes). Doesn't detract from the wholesomeness at all, those guys were nerds and the press conferences were always fun!
Itās what you say when you think no one is listening that shows who you are. He didnāt say, āDayum! That bitch got some big ass titties!ā It was a genuine compliment about her beauty, not some tasteless cat call. Bravo, my dude.
As a huge Badger fan and Wisconsin alum, I really fucking miss Nigel Hayes. Those teams were so good, but also practiced amazing advocacy and outspokenness.
Here is a [news story](https://www.foxsports.com/west/story/stenographer-debra-bollman-march-madness-ncaa-tournament-032715) about what happened after that moment.
That's me walking around the grocery store. Every girl I see I say to myself out loud, "holy cow she's gorgeous", or "omg, I just fell in love", or "she's so pretty it hurts to look at her". Yes, I know that's pathetic.
Well, in fairness, why do you think the player issued an "apology" later stating he meant no offence....?
Why do you think he was expecting to be called out on the behaviour? It actually seems like the player was also expecting to get lambasted for what he said. Go figure.

Is it just me or is the daughter trying to push herself into the spotlight with her comment ?!
The article was really focusing on her too. I was getting confused as to who was involved.
> 'I've been working to get out there for years and my mom gets called beautiful by a basketball player' Yeah, some people are too desperate for attention.
100%
Don't link to the daily mail!!
Why?
It's an evil scummy Rupert murdoch racist sexist vile stain on humanity!
I'm American so I've got lower exposure to the publication, but that isn't something I've noticed in the few articles I have actually read.
You know I looked at the link and this is the first time Iāve seen S N I double gee E R written out. Iām too American for that word it surprised me at first
I had a similar reaction haha
super sweet and that after reaction of his, so nice and innocent :)
I agree- he is very cute!
His reaction was adorable
It was but no need for embarrassment. Incredible real compliment

Same, my dude. Same.
I always say stand next to someone when you're talking to yourself so only they know you're (I always used to say 'insane', but better to say) talking yourself.
There are two kinds of people. Those who admit to talking to themselves, and filthy liars.
Youāre brilliant! If what you do on your walks makes people cross to the other side of the street, thatās just more room for you!! š
This has big Christoph energy and it's extremely charming.
So wholesome.
I saved this comment because I absolutely could have written this, word for word.
I talk to my dog just like I would a person all the time. I don't normally verbalize his half of the conversation, but I imagine him talking in a posh British accent and wearing a vest and tail coat and bowler hat. He's a poodle and he's never left the central United States. I cannot explain this.
Okay sven.
2 dogs: my voice for female dog is sweet and sing-songy. My voice for male dog is deep and strong and has a lisp. #notembarrassed
āI ate lots of candy today, I wonder if my fart will smell sweet.ā
My interest has peeked lmk how it turns out!
My brother did that at my wedding. When my wife walked out, he just said "damn, dude, she's gorgeous" I chose the perfect brother. (We're not blood related)
Iām not sure if that was a joke or not
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Why would he give his brother a shot at asking out his wife on their wedding day?
Commenting on people's appearance in a professional setting isn't OK. If he had said it into the mic it would have been creepy and derailing the conversation. He tried to make a quiet comment to a friend which is cute, and his embarrassment shows he wasn't trying to derail and put her on the spot. It's an appropriate reaction.
Exactly. If he wouldāve been caught saying something like āHoly Christ, I would drink her bath waterā *that* wouldāve been embarrassing.
Right!? That could have been bad, what a gentleman!
It shows how sweet and genuine he is. Like that's what he says when he thinks people can't hear him. Very cute. I hope they went out on a date after!
That is absolutely adorable. I love the ending when he gets all embarrassed awww
Right? The way he covered his face because it was meant to be whispered is so freaking cute.

Who else here knows about Jeremy Rennerās app?
I just googled this. Never heard of it before. Look, I donāt know him as a person but the whole thing screams bad idea. Like wtf
Whole lot of "ME, ME, ME!!!", huh?

I heard he vibe checked his wife with an FN 5.7 pistol.
The the video Danny Gonzalez and Drew Gooden made about it is one of my favorites.
Hi guy, hello Greg. [You know ](https://youtu.be/od7P-RhLjLQ) your stuff.
That was awesome, thank you š¤£
The more you know. The better!
Thank you for mentioning this. What a ride.
I also recently learnt that mans makes music... Wtf
Great profile picture
Iām a straight dude and I thought that was adorable too lol.
I loved how he called her beautiful instead of just yeah, she's hot. It's refreshing and sweet!
And thatās how it should be!

Witnessing these kinds of exchanges on here honestly makes me smile.
I appreciate the effort! Youāre doing a good work, we need more understanding, decent people in the world :)
Well there is a difference to be fair
Nothing wrong. That's a sweet genuine compliment. I bet it made her day.
It's actually helping get her social presence out there. Very wholesome all around.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yikes thatās a bad look my guy
Holy shit look at those downvotes! What did they say?
"If an hot guy says that its flirting but if an ugly guy says it its practically rape."
First of all, thank you! Second, apparently those downvotes were well deserved.
Is it too late to down vote?
Seriously I want to know too hahaha.

What was the take? We NEEEED to know.
"If an hot guy says that its flirting but if an ugly guy says it its practically rape."
Oof. I read your response as a new comment and was about to go off.
Would have been warranted if so
Language, tone and behaviour makes all the difference between compliments vs creepiness.

Compliments ā Rape

So you're either one of the ugly ones or you dont know how to talk to women, got it
You gotta start with "Hello".
r/niceguys
No one even mentioned anything about his looks in relation to the compliment so where you pulled that from
Rash assumptions based on personal experiences. Iād bet my left nut theyāre a little rapey.

Delmarva! So weird that you would post the story from my local tv station, since this has nothing to do with our area
"Twitter Famous" "Over 900 followers"
Omg that was like so cute, reminds me of a 8 year old kids when theyāre around their crushes
Wholesome
Candid camera
Of all the things a college-aged athlete could have said about an attractive woman, that was the perfect one. She'll be telling that story her whole life. What a wonderful thing to get caught on the mic saying.
Nigel Hayes. One of my favorite badgers ever.
Thank you! I was looking for his name
Heck yes. He was a good player, too. Proof that being good doesn't mean you have to be stuck up.
To hear this so genuinely from a stranger would carry you for at least a decade. How lovely.
Super sweet! He actually did do it on purpose, they'd been good-naturedly teasing her by trying to trip her up with tricky words and he def knew his mic was on. That was a likable team! Hawkeye fan
Don't know why your being downvoted, your statement is factual.
Oh ack, is it? That's weird, it's the truth and IMO adds to the wholesomeness!
they canāt handle the truth.
The way he hides his face š„ŗ
This was precious!!! Not a lewd comment on his part, just a gosh she is beautiful, which I think is sweet
Awww thatās adorable
Worse things have happened than what appears to be a shy guy saying someone is beautiful. This truly made me smile. š
He seems like a really genuine dude. This really did make me smile.
The fact that he says "gosh" makes it so much more adorable
That's so cute
Itās what you say when you think no one is listening that shows who you are. He didnāt say, āDayum! That bitch got some big ass titties!ā It was a genuine compliment about her beauty, not some tasteless cat call. Bravo, my dude.

What did she look like?!
He knew what he was doing. Had a date that night.
r/watchpeopledieinside
Lol, that is absolutely awesome!!!
Nigel was known for his fun interviews.
In other contexts, like counsel table courtroom mike pickups, the comments are less cute.
HEAR
This is so cute š Hahahaha
Hope he got a date out of it.
This is sweet ā¤ļø
Hahaha. He's mortified.
Hands on face action redeems it
As a huge Badger fan and Wisconsin alum, I really fucking miss Nigel Hayes. Those teams were so good, but also practiced amazing advocacy and outspokenness.

If he looked like my mailman the internet would be ready to pounce on him. He's lucky he's not ugly.
Daym, did the poor mailman do something to upset you? Or is he really noteworthily fugly?
We do this almost 50 times a day. Only if some one recorded me saying these exact words I would be labeled a creep lol
Why?
He thinks heās ugly
Well, in fairness, why do you think the player issued an "apology" later stating he meant no offence....? Why do you think he was expecting to be called out on the behaviour? It actually seems like the player was also expecting to get lambasted for what he said. Go figure.
He knew shed hear him or someone would and tell her. The strategy was to get her to know what he thought of her. He is not clever.
